WANRED IN tho Burgh of Dumbarton, charged with an agj.; nut l assault:— James Goldie, a holderon or ship- yard labourer, native of county Mayo, Ire- land ; about 5 years of age, 5 feet 7 or ? ii. cl. os high, ordinary \ iisl longish face, high cheek bones, and thin jaws hair, whiskers, and moustache fair, some- times shaves checks and moustache, and wears beard on chin only. Dressed when he absconded from Dumbarton on 27th instant, in black alpaca cap with peak, dirty white duck jacket, ray vest, dirty moleskin trowsers, and lacing boots, all much worn. He has previously wrought in Dumbarton, Green- ock, Port Glasgow, Govan, partick, Leith, and Dundee in Scotland, and Hebburn, Jarrow, Sunder- land, Hartlepool, and barrow- in- Furness, in Englnd, and may also have wrought in Belfast. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Nelson, 241- 2076, convicted at Belfast, borough of Belfast, at Borough Sessions, on 1st December, 1878, for breaking into a counting- house with intent to steal, and two previous convictions for felony, and sentenced to 7 years penal n rvitu^ o and 3 years Police Supervision :— 21 yfaus of age on conviction, can read and write, is an Episcopalian, single, a labourer, bom in Holywood, county Down, resided before conviction in Agnes- stre, i, Belfast, where his friends reside, brown hair, g - si? eyes, dark brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mciuth,' fresh complexion, oval viaage, medium make, 5 feet 4^ inches high, J. N. tattooed on left forearn. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 2 . id June, 1879, and went to Belfast. He has failed t > i report himself to the, Royal Irish Constabulary , since the Ist inst., and his present whoreabouts are unknown. PARTICULAR-: relative to Convict John Kelly, 819- 14245, convicted at Ennis, county Clare, at Michael- mas Sen ons on 27th October, 1874, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude:— 30 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, born in Athlone, resident before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside ; brown hair, bald on crown, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, prominent nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high ; lost five upper and two lower teeth. This convict was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, the 14th November, 1879, and went to reside in Dublin, on the 19th inst. he left his residence, 7, Bull- lane, without notifying same to Police, and his present whereabouts arc unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 34, 1879. ( 17792 m.— 29748). PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Purcell, 273- 2719, convicted at Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at Trinity Sessions, on 8th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— • i3 years of age on conviction, can read and right, is a Roman Catholic, married, is a slater, born in Denzille- street, Dublin, resided before conviction in Church- street, Dublin, his wife resides at 33, Church- street, Dublin; black hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, ordinary nose ( has been broken,) medium mouth, sallow complexion, pockpitted, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high: scar on bridge of nose, left side of head, back of head, and under right eye; E. F. A. L. C., and some dots tattooed on back of left hand ; I. anchor and dots on left wrist anchor on thumb. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 7th August, 1879, and went to reside at 1, Sandwith- lane, Dublin, on the Sth inst., he notified his intention of going to Liverpool, but be has not reported himself to the Police here, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic. cap. 113. .; - general Prisons Board, • November 24, 1879. ( 17792 M.— 29748.) DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned, who are wanted for having uttered a large number of forged National Bank notes for £ 10 each, in Dublin, on 18th ultimo:— 1. Thomas Green, alias Harrington, about 32 years old, 6 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead, mole on right chest, lost a bottom tooth, right middle finger deformed; was convicted of horse- stealing at Guild- ford, Surrey, February. 1874, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, and released on licence from Mill- bank, February, 1878. 2. Name unknown, about 40 years old, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, very stout build, dark hair, black moustache and side whiskers, chin shaved. 3. Name unknown, about 36 years old, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches higb, black moustache, jaws and chin shaved, erect military gait, and gentlemanly manner. All three represented themselves as horse- dealers, were comfortably dressed, spoke with strong English accent, had no luggage but a black Gladstone bag, they obtained nearly £ 900, chiedy in Irish bank notes. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Ward, native of Portumna, who stands charged with having, ou the 2Ut Nov- ember, 1879, in the barony of Loughrea, parish of Loughrea, escaped from the Loughrea Bridewell, where he was confined on remand, charged with assaulting a gamekeeper at Portumna: — Walks very erect, active appearance, very small whiskers and moustache, fresh cut on nose; gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 5} inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a blue serge uniform coat and trowsers, no vest, black straw or chip hat; the uniform was that of the King's County Militia, to which he belongs; is a poacher and rag gatherer. Thomas Cannon ( serious assault), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, llth February, 1879. meath DESCRIPTION of a person;, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 20t} i November, 1879, at Ratoath, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Rathoath, stolen an ass and car, the property of James Lawless, of Dunshaughlin :— Small dark whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, dark complexion, dark face, rtather stout make, 5 feet 5 5r 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, carried an old frieze overcoat on his arm which was ripped on the back of collar. Description of the ass and car:— A brown she- ass, 15 years old. Body of car painted a dull red colour, one wheel larger than the other, the name " James Lawless, Dunshaughlin," painted in red letters oa a board nailed to the off side of shaft; b > th value for about £ 3. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Smith ( mother's surname Smith), native of Farmhill, who stanis charged with having, on the 27th of November, 1879, in the barony of Dartrey, parish of Currin, stolen five head of cattle, the property of John Smith, of Cool nacarte. The cattle have been recovered:— Smart active appearance, shaves all his face; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full fat fe. ee, stout make, 5 teet 7 inches high, about 40 yeau's of age brown hair ; wore a low soft hat, blue pilot frock coat gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of Michael Keelan ( mother's surname M'Kittrick), native of Liverpool, and Patrick M'Kittrick ( mother's surname Keelan), native of Corduff, county Monaghan, who stand charged with having, on the 16th of October, 1* 79, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, seriously assaulted Festus Finoegan:— 1. DESOBIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on tue night of 10 th and morning of llt. h November, 1879, in the barony of Eliogarty, parishes of Thurles and Ballycahill, visited the houses of several farmers in this and Templemore district, cautioned them to pay no rent over Griffith's valuation, and that if they did they would be visited again ; the party fired shots when leaving the yards of two of the tenants :— 1. Unknown— Gentlemanly appearance, good ad- dress, shaves all his face, 6 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 30 years of age ; wore a gray tweed cap with two peaks, shoft gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers. 9. DESCRIPTION of James Hare, native of Drumquin, who stands charged with having, on the vi9th November, 1879, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Ardstraw, fired at Bryan Molloy, a watcher to the Duke of Abercorn, at Ballyreenan :— Has a slight swagger when walking, speaks with a strong Northern accent, high cheek bones, small beard under the chin, moustache and chin shaved, tfcere may be some cuts on his face and head; gr* y eyes, long nose, pale sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 55 years of age, dark hair turning gray ( worn pretty long), wore a hard round hat, old tweed coat, trowsers ( patched) and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, name supposed fictitious, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st November, inst., in the barony of Glenahiry, parish of Carrigroe, stolen a double- barrel gun, which has about one inch cut off the muzzle, fight removed back and splinter raised off stock:— First joint of fore finger of right hand off, large white wild- looking eyes, long thin nose, very black complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, very black hair; wore a soft hat, dark coat, cord trowsers, darn vest; supposed to be a tramp.
