Is fond of singing and dancing in public houses. Last seen between Brandon and Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. The bay cob Gelding, advertised as stolen from a stable at Ingham, Suffolk, ou the night of 19th instant, is recovered, aud d, warrant has besu issued against, CHARLES MANN, of Thetford, for stealiug the same : Mann escaped from the police at Thetford, Norfolk, on 23rd instant, he is about 27 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, full face, brown hair, small brown whiskers and moustache, stout made ; dressed in dark cloth coat, light cord trousers, and black soft chummy hat; is a baker by trade, but looks like a dealer, a native of Thetford, Norfolk. Information to Mr. Superintendent Clarke, Police Office, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.— Bow- street, November 28. Stolen near Lowe's Barn, Durham, on 20th or 21st inst., a light grey Mare, aged, If' hands high, strongly made, clean legged, rough coat, and long mane aud tail ; was suckling a foal when stolen. Stolen from East Bagshot Lodge, on 22nd instant, by means of burglary : three £ 5 Bank of England Notes, stamped 1 London and County Bank, Manningtree '; £ 28 iu Gold ; about £ 3 in Silver; two Purses, one green silk with gold beads, the othei a leather clasp purse, and a small red and black check flannel Bag ; and three of the following four £ 5 Bank of England Notes— Nos. 24912, date 14th November, 1878 ; 249* 3, ditto ditto; 41103, 24th February, 1879 ; 41150, ditto ditto, all stamped ' London and County Bank, Manningtree.' In- formation to Mr. Superintendent Fisher, Suffolk Constabulary, Ipswich.— Bow- street, November 28. Stolen at Middle Hulton, about 8 p. m. 22nd instant : a double- breasted man's brown cloth Overcoat, brown velvet collar, two pockets outside with flaps, and cloth covered buttons ; a pair of man's black cloth Trousers, fall fronts, and white twill cotton lining, rather far worn ; a black billycock Hat; a silver watch Guard, cable pattern, broken at the swivel, and weighs about 5 oz. ; a Bilk Guard, with gold plated mountings, four hoops in centre, and a small imitation Nettle as an appendage ; and a small brown box of drawing Instruments. Suspicion attached to three men. Information to Mr. Superintendent Holland, County Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, November 26.% Stolen at Burlon- on- Trent, on 23rd instant : a lady's gold Watch, black figures, enamelled on back, open face, Paris manufacture ; a short gold Chain, about 4 inches long, gold Key attached ; a large Scotch pebble Brooch, brown colour, set in Silver, oval shape, imitation chain round edge ; a gold Brooch, with red stone, oval shape ; £ 3 10s. in Gold ; and 9s. 6d. in Silver. Information to Mr. Superintendent Harston, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire. — Bow - street, November 20. On 15th instant, Springhill House, Maisemore, near Gloucester, was entered, and stolen therein : two copper Furnaces; four house Bells ; and a brass hall Lamp ( since recovered). Supposed by a man from 27 to 30 years of age. 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, light hair, sandy whiskers, beard, and moustache, blue eyes, round full face, fresh coloured, believed to be pockmarked ; dressed in soft grey cloth corded hat, old dark mixture jacket, corduroy trousers, soiled with red clay or brickdust, and strong lace- up boot; he is rather • splay- footed, and walks rather stiff, generally carries one band in his jacket pocket. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Chipp, Gloucester.— Bow- street, November 26. Further particulars respecting the housebreaking near Llanfyllin, Montgomeryshire, advertised iu Police Gazette of 12th instant: in the pocket of the stolen coat were a common Pocket- handkerchief, with red borders, and pictures of deers in the white, and a white Muffler. The tramps have been traced in the direction of Llangollen or Wrexham. Informa- tion to P. C. Williams, Llanfyilin, or to Mr. Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, Nov. 24. Stolen by means of burglary, at Wigmore : thirty- two Sovereigns; two Half- Sovereigns ; a pair of gold Ear- rings, small acorn pattern ; a pair of large round gold Ear- rings ; a broad gold Keeper, has been lately filed ; a gold Ring, with six pearls and one ruby ; a large Spanish Coiu ( image king), about size of crown piece, date 1803. Supposed by two dirty looking whitesmiths, who had been repairing locks in the town : oiie about 50 years of a'ge, the other 30 years of age, one slight, the other stiff, about 5 feet 2 iuches high, dark hair and complexion. Information to Mr. Superintendent Dykes, or to P. S. Philpotts, Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bow- , November 21. Further information respecting the dark brown Horse and red roan Mare, stolen from Suttmers Farm, Chaifont St. Giles, on the uight of 15th, aud advertised in the Police Gazette of 17th instant: the Horse is rising 5 years old, and the Mare is rising 3 years. £ 10 reward is offered by Mr. Davis, the owner, for the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or offenders, aud recovery of the above Horses. Information to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, or to Inspector Breene, Police Station, Beaconsfield, Bucks.— Bow- street, November 26. Stolen during the night of 19th instant, from a stable at Ingham, Suffolk : a bay cob Gelding, 8 years old, about 13 hands high, off fore foot and both hind feet white, also white saddle mark on back, has been clipped, had horse Rug on. Information to Mr. Superintendent Clarke, Police Office, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen from a field at Gallywood, Great Baddow, Essex, during the afternoon of 10th instant: a dark bay Cob, years old, black legs, bushy foretop, very thick mane, chipped knees, about 15 hands high, in good condition. In- formation to Mr. Superintendent Lennon, Constabulary Office, Chelmsford, Essex.— Bow- street, November 24. During the night of 20th instant, a fat wether Sheep was slaughtered in a field at Handsacre, the skin, head, and entrails were left in the field, and the carcase taken away. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, Stafford, or to Inspector Barrett, Town Hall, RugeWy, Staffordshire. -- Bow- street, November 24. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a stable at Fincham, on 25th instant: a Mare ( recovered). By a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet high, LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT., Stolen from Wrexham, oil 24th instant, a japanned tin Cash Box, with brass handle, containing a Saving Bank Con- tribution Book, two Sovereigns, two Half Sovereigns, in Gold, aud about £ 3 in Silver and Copper. Supposed by two men, oue about 20 to 25 years of age, light hair, red face, and stoutly built ; dressed in a dark over coat, and a flat crowned billy cock hat. The other about 45 years of ags, dark hair and whiskers, and stoutly built ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to Chief Constable Leadbetter, or to Deputy Chief Constable Wilde, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, November 28. WILLIAM COATH, advertised in Police Grzette of October 8th, 1879, as wanted for stealing £ 95, and a Cash Book, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, November 28. Stolen on 22nd instant, 2 walking Coats, oue blue diagonal, one grey mixture, one pair dark tweed Trousers, a black Vest, felt Hat, an engine turned silver Verge Watch, a. gold Albert, silver 2- anna Piece attached, a gold garnet Ring, diamond shape setting: by A man, 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, hair and eyes brown ; dress, stolen clothes. Larceny. — Metropolitan Police, B Division, November 20. Description of H. SMITH, name supposed fictitious, of 12, Angel- street, Northampton, charged on a warrant with stealing two Watches, as bailee, at Great Houghton, near Northampton, on 10th instant: he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, has whiskers aud moustache, shaves chin, rather stout, proportion ; dressed in short dark overcoat, with two rows of black buttons in front, dark trousers, silk hut, aud usually wears dark cloth gloves, carries a brown paper parcel which contains a bag with tools, & c. lie gets watches & c. to repair or clean, and pawns them. Information to Inspector Hensher, County Constabulary, Northampton.— Bow- street, November 26. Absconded from Much Wenloclc, at 6 p. m. on 21th instant, charged with attempted larceny : a youth about 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, full round features, rather stout build ; dressed in dirty grey cloth cap, large white handkerchief or muffler, and short black jacket. Supposed to be a native of London. Information to Mr. Superinten- dent Galliers, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Davies, Police Station, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bma- street, November 26. Stolen at Thornhill, Dumfries, on 22nd instant; a small sized old black leather Purse, elastic band broken off, contain- ing 9 Half Sovereigns iu Gold, and 1 Shilling in Silver. Supposed by a man, 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, or thereabouts, black hair and whiskers, and slender make ; dressed in dark coat, grey trousers, aud dark soft felt hat. Also stolen from Genzierhall, on 19th or 20th instant : a Suit of black tweed Clothes- a double- breasted shooting Coat, three black bone or composition buttons on < veh bieast, two buttons at back, pockets outside each skirt with flaps, one inside left breast, left skirt pocket has been torn and mended, single- breasted " V est, having six black buttons on it, and pair of Trou. rs ; a black silk Necktie; pair of - blucher Boots, newly soled, two rows of sparables round outside, three in centre of oles, and heel plates ; a Sovereign in Gold, , iud one Shilling in Silver ; a pair of Scissors ; and a Bottle of Pomade. Supposed by a man, 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dai : iair and moustache, but little if any whiskers, and slender make ; dressed in dark tweed clothes and hard felt hat. Information to the Chief Constable, Dumfries.— tBox- street, November 26. Stolen at Tong : a light plaided Jacket, pockets on hips, one iuside left breast; a Vest, same material, three pockets outside; a pair dark plaided aioleskin Trousers ; a red striped cotton Shirt, nearly new ; two Knives, one small pruning knife, one with two blade, saw, toothpick, and a nail passed in it. By a lodger who left on morning of 22nd inst.: he is about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, light sandy hair aud whiskers, bald on back of head, long thin face, small lump or mole under right eye, rat, her round shouldered ; dressed in old black cloth' coat, old plaided mole- skin trousers, patched on each knee, old drab slop, strong; lace- up boots, with tips on heels and toes, hard hat; he sold a hay Knife, " opposed stolen, may seek work at - chouses. Stolen on 21st instant, a lady's gold geneva Watch, gold dial, engine turned case, by a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair, very light hair, effeminite voice and features; dress, old dark clothes, felt hat. Larceny. Metropolitan Police, Y Division, November 26. Absconded on 24th ultimo, charged with embezzlement, and stealing a costermonger's Barrow, ' Foster, Half- moon Crescent,' cut in several places thereon, containing six large Tins, a, Barrel, and two Boxes ( empty) : WILLIAM. BENNETT, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair com- plexion, light hair, short, right forefinger very much scarred fiom burus ; dressed in biown plaid coat and vest, dark mixture trousers, brown and white plaid muffler, blue Oxford shirt, flat crowned deerstalker hat, side- spring boots, all old : he may seek tmployment at Wholesale confectioners in the provinces. Absconded on 17t'n instant, charged with embezzlement: a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache ( small) ; dressed in light cutaway coat, dark trousers at. d vest, lace boots, black hard felt hat.—- Metropolitan Police, P Division, November 26. Stolen on 21st instant, from 42, Stebbington- street, St. Pancras : a dark tweed Ulster, black cloth plain buttons, buttons under flap, three pockets outside, one inside left breast, has been repaired at tab ; a black ribbed frock Coat and Vest. By a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, very fair complexion and hair, no whiskers or moustache, decayed tooth in front of upper jaw; dressed in black frock coat and vest, dark trousers, black felt hat, side- spring boots, respectable appeaiance. — Metropolitan Police, 1 Division, November 26, Description of JOSEPH WILSON, late of 80, Pugh- road, Aston, Birmingham, who is charged on warrant with stealing a Cheque for £ 96 18s. 3d., the property of the Liver- pool and London and Globe Insurance Company, his masters: 36 to 38 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, rather slender build, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, no beard or whiskers, wears glasses occasionally ; dressed in a grey shooting suit, aud dark billycock hat; has been previously employed by the Midland Railway Compauy ; his mother is living at Betford, Notts, he was last heard of in London, on 12th instant. Information to Chief Superintendent Bond, Birmingham.— Bow- sireet, November 26. Stolen during the night of 22nd instant, from an out- building at Wing, Bucks : four white Ducks, and two white Drakes, of the Aylesbury breed. Supposed by a man about 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresli complexion, rather long face, light brown hair, small light whiskers, and slight moustache ; dressed in pilot jacket, dark cap with peak, and button on top, dark trousers, may be wearing corduroy or fustian trousers, which are supposed to havt spots of blood on them ; will endeavour to get work as a navvy or labourer to a bricklayer. Information to Mr. Superintendent Denson, Aylesbury, or to Inspector Sutton, Police Station, Linalade, Bucks.— Bow- street, November 26. Absconded from Thatcham, on 17th instant, charged with larceny as bailee of a Watch and silver Neckchain : a tramping watch and cloekmaker, who gave the name of JOHN WILLIAMS, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, grey hair, little grey whiskers and moustache ; dressed in [ old dark brown cloth top coat, old black cloth trousers, much worn, round hard black hat, and old boots slit up in front. Carried a black leather bag, with strap over his shoulder; walks with a stick, j; oes a little lame, and with a quick step. Was accompanied by a female wearing a black dress, and white straw hAt. They occupied a room at a beer- bouse for a few days. The Watch has been recovered, sold. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bennett, Berks Con- stabulary, Newbury, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, November 26. Absconded from Hartshill on the 15th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing an English lever silver Watch, No. 1925, maker ' Bates, Liverpool,' gold hauds, minute hand broken, glass much scratched— a man, giving the name of GEORGE HOLLAND, a brickmaker, about 25 years of age. 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light moustache, tuft of hair on chin; dressed in dirty moleskin trousers, brownish plaid jacket, brown and white neckcloth, check seamed cap with peak, and strong lace- up boots ; was then walking somewhat lame in consequence of having injured a toe of lett foot by striking it with the point of a pick, making a hole in the boot. Information to Mr. Superinten- dent Walker, At her stone, or to Inspector Hannah, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, November 24. Absconded from Eastbourne, Sussex, ron 18th instant, charged with stealing £ A 2s. 6d., at Willingdon : MARY REED, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high,' fair complexion, rather full face, hazel eyes, brown hair, medium figure; dressed in black felt hat, with white feather, brown dress, and was carrying a black silk umbrella, and small black bag. And HARRIETT REED, commonly called SKINNY, about 20 years of age, 4 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fair com- plexion, oval face, has a scar ou bridge of nose, one corner of right eye, one on right arm, blue eyes, brown hair, cut short in front, and rather slight figure ; dressed in black hat, with grey feather, and rather long black jacket. They are cousins, and are likely to be found together in company of soldiers. Harriett is under police supervision. Information to Mr. Superintendent Newnham, East Sussex Constabulary, East- bourne, wh » holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, November 24. Absconded from Dunbeath, on 31st ultimo, stealing and taking with him a dark brown tweed ulster Coat, and a silver Watch and gilt Albert Chain: JOHN WHITESIDE, alias JOHN ROSS, who was employed as a plasterer's labourer by Mr. Annan, plasterer, of Perth and Edinburgh : he is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, light hair and moustache, no whiskers, full face, fresh complexion, good looking, walks erect, and it is believed that he had served either ill the army or the police ; he is a native of Dundee, where he was heard of on 8th instant, at 22, Annfield- road ; a letter from him bore the Glasgow post mark of 8th instant. Information to Chief Constable Mitchell, County Buildings, Wick, Caithness.— Bow- street, November 24. Stolen on 21st instant, at Slough, Bucks : a nearly new pair of strong watertight Boots, tipped toe and heel, well nailed, and brass eyelet holes. By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stoutly built, dark hair and whiskers, of a dirty appearance, and addicted to drink. Generally works at gas works where new gasometers are being fixed and acts as a riveter. Information to Mr. Super- intendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- st., November 24. Stolen at Dorchester, Oxon, on the morning of 21st inst., a pair of watertight Boots, tips on heels and, toes, the right one cut in the inside ; twe tin Canisters, one containing Tea and a silver Spoon, the other containing Sugar; and a calico Handkerchief. By two men : one is about 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark curly hair, a little whiskers; dressed in dark pilot jacket, dark cord trousers, hard felt hat, light necktie ; the other is about 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, and light hair ; dressed in a dark pilot jacket, light cord trousers, and black billycock Information to Deputy Chief Constable Femsby, Oxford, or to Sergeant Dyer, Police Station, Dorchester, Oxon.— Bow- street, November 24. Description of GEORGE MINCHIN, alias MARK RAYMOND, alias HENRY BYFIELD, charged on a warrant with stealing .£ 33, from his mistress, on 3id instant: 24 years of age, 5 feet inches high, light brown hair, has lower lip split from a cold, light moustache, several fingers of left hand shot off recently, and wears arm in a sling ; is a native of Dudley, and was in the 36th Regiment of Foot, in the name of Mark Raymond ; trade a blacksmith, but has been learning the hair dressing. Information to Chief Con- stable Bond, Birmingham.— Bow- street, November 24. Absconded from Hasland, charged on warrant with stealing ou 19th instant : a silver English lever Watch, No. 42659, maker Robinson, Chesterfield ; and a long silver Guard attached : WILLIAM JONES, blacksmith's striker or colliery labourer, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, rather stout built, walks erect, dark complexion, dark brown hair, heavy dark moustache, whiskers shaved off; dressed in dark cloth jacket, grey cloth trousers, hard black felt hat, aud lace- up boots ; he lias been a soldier, and is a native of London, but has lived in the neighbourhood of Chesterfield during tlie last 4 or 5 years. Information to Mr. Superintendent Carline, County Police Office, Chester- field, Derbyshire.— Bow- strmt, November 24. drawn by Emily Niaa Henderson, on the secretary of the India Office, London : OSBORNE, alias G. T. BIRCH, HARDING, and MOORE, aborts 25 years of age, short, fair complexion aud hair, very small moustache, no whiskers or beard ; dressed in brown overcoat, blue serge under, brown trousers. Was accompanied by a woman who passed as his wife, about the same age, dark hair and complexion, medium height; dressed in.- 8r « wn stuff dress and jacket, trimmed with fur, and imitation beaver hat, trimmed with feathers, aud sometimes wore a blue waterproof or ulster. He is a native of Clifton. Information to Mr. Superintendent Sanders, Police Station, Dover, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 28. Absconded on 13th instant, charged with obtaining by fraud : 2 gold lever Watches, Nos. 29356 and 12104. 2 ladies' gold Watches, Nos. 78766 and 78697. 2 silver lever Watches Nos, 90107 and 90115. 5 gold Albert Chains, and 7 gold Lockets. JOHN FRASER, hair dresser and perfumer, lately of Great Junction- street, Leith, about 60 years of aje, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stoutly made, grey hair and whiskers, bald on forehead, fio'id complexion, speaks Scotch, and has a forward aud demonstrative manner ; dressed generally in dark clotPes. Supposed to have a brown painted wooden chest with him. It is supposed he intends leaving the country for America or Australia. Information to the Chief Constable, Leith.— Bow- street, November 28.
