All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. mmamxn ' — nawt DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1879. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Kelly, 319— 14215, convicted at Ennis, county Clare, at Michael- mas Sassions on 27th October, 1874, for burglary, and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude :— 30 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, born in Athlone, resident" before conviction in Limerick, where his friends reside ; brown hair, bald on crown, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, prominent nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high; lost five upper and two lowej teeth. This convict was released on licence from Spike Island Prison, the 14th November, 1879, and went to reside in Dublin, on the 19th inst. he left his residence, 7, Bull- lane, without notifying sane to Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec. of the Act 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. ( 17792 M.— 29748). PARTICULARS relative to Convict John Purcell, 278- 2719, convicted at Dublin, county of the city of Dublin, at Trinity Sessions, on 8th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 6 years penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, can read and right, is a Roman Catholic, married, is a slater, born in Denzille- street, Dublin, resided before conviction in Church- street, Dublin, his wife resides at 38, Church- street, Dublin; black hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, ordinary nose ( has been broken,) medium mouth, sallow complexion, pockpitted, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high : scar on bridge of nose, left side of head, back of head, and under right eye; E. P. A. L. C., and some dots tattooed on back of left hand ; I. anchor and dots on left wrist anchor on thumb. This convict was released on licence from Lusk Prison, the 7th August, 1879, and went to reside at 1, Sandwith- lane, Dublin, on the 5th inst., he notified his iutention of g^ ing to Liverpool, but be has not reported himself to the Police here, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic. cap. 112. General Prisons Board, November 24, 1879. ( 17792 m.^ 29748 ) DESCRIPTION of the undermentioned, who are wanted for having uttered a large number of forged National Bank notes for £ 10 each, in Dublin, on 18th ultimo :— 1. Thomas Green, alias Harrington, about 32 years old, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead, mole on right chest, lost a bottom tooth, right middle finger deformed; was convicted of horse- stealing at Guild- ford, Surrey, February. 1874, sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, and released on licence from Mill- bank, February, 1878. 2. Name unknown, about 40 years old, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches bigh, very stout build, dark hair, black moustache and side whiskers, chin shaved. 8. Name unknown, about 36 yeftrs old, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, black moustache, jaws and chin shaved, erect military gait, and gentlemanly manner. All three represented themselves as horse- dealers, were comfortably dressed, spoke with strong English accent, had no , luggage but a black Gladstone bag, they obtained nearly £ 900, chietly in Irish bank notes. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 27th October, 1879, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, coined one sixpenny- piece, and obtained the sum of £ 8 2*. 9d. from Patrick Lehane by false pretences on 28th October, 1879:— Lame of left leg, which is short; walks with a stick; pock- marked; supposed pearl on one eye; blue mark on right wrist; dark brown eyej, long drooped nose, fresh complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair and sandy whiskers; wore a blue frieze coat with brass buttons, light cord trowsers, d uble breasted vest of brown or gray frieze, with two rows of wl ite studs; supposed to he a tinker. Kanturk, Nov. 12, 1879 ( 24446 c.— 42006.) DESCRIPTION of Robert O'Connell ( mother's sur- name Coleman), native of Cork city, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1H79 in ihe barony of Barrymore, parish of carrig- toohill, stolen a horse the property of John Moore, ot Ballintubbrid, having falsely represented that he was sent by a gentleman to purchase the horse, and when trying his action as a saddle horse, rode away with him :— Smart active make, military gait, and has now the appearance of a horse- trainer, hazel or blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair j wore a round low black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; has been in the army and discharged for bad conduct. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Murphy, native of Kilcas- kin North, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of October, 1879, in the barony of Dunhal- low, parish of CaStlemagner, obtained £ 20, by false pretences, from W. F. S. Barry, Esq., J. P. :— Remark- ably stout, square shoulders, - walks erect, heavy gait, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round full face, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair, small dark whiskers in line with ears, but be- lieved now to be shaved off; wore a jerry hat, whitish tweed frock coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, high- low boots ; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of Manus Murray ( mother's surname M'Garvy), native of Barnes Upper, who stands charged with having, on the 25th October. 1879, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Kilmacrenan, seriously assaulted Denis Murray by striking him with a spade on the head, from the effects of which blow he died on 30th October:— Light hair on upper lip and chin ; never shaved ; blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, flat face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a black cap, gray frieze coat, cord trowsers, gray vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Walsh, native place un- known, who stands charged with having on the 19th October, 1879, in tbe barony of Glenawley, parish of Cleerish, stolen three calves, the property of Elizabeth Rutledge, an d who has been committed for trial to Quarter Sessions:— Knees slightly bent inwards, teeth bad, two upper front teeth broken, a deep pock mark on left cheek, a few dark hairs on right cheek, growing on a mole, large blue eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, thin face, sl'ght make, 6 feet 71 inches high, about 21 } ears of age, fair bair; wore a cloth cap with peak, brown tweed frock coat, molefkin trowsers, tweed vest, a large muffler round neck, belt round waist; is a tramp. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Quarter, native of Athenry, who stands charged with having, on the lbth No- vember, 1879, in tbe barony of Athenry, parish of Athenry, attempted to commit a rape:— Lame of left leg, gray eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 0 inches high, about 25 ) ears of age, brown hair wore a low black hat much worn, old dark tweed coat, dark irowsers aad vest; is a corner- boy, and IUOS messages for shopkeepers. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Ward, native of Portumna, who stands charged with having, ou the 2lt> t Nov ember, l879, in tbe barony of loughrea, parish of Loughrea, escaped from tbe Loughrea Bridewell, where ha was confined on remand, charged with assaulting a gamekeeper at Portumna: — Walks very erect, active appearance, very small whiskers and moustache, fresh cut ou nose; gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 54 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a blue serge uniform coat and trowsers, no vest, black straw or chip hat; tbe uniform was that of the King's County Militia, to which be belongs) is a poacher and rag gatherer. Smyth, which were stolen from off the lands of Derryinver, parish of Ballinakill, on the Uth November, 1879 :— 1. A black bullock, with white face, 3 years old; value for £ 7. 2. A red bullock, with some white spots on body, 2 years old; value for £ 7. 8. A red bullock, 2 years old ; value for £ 7. 4. DESCRIPTION of Daniel O'Sullivan, native of Batterfield, who stands charged with having, on the 27th February, 1879, and 26th May, 1879, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Tralee, forged the mark of Bryan Connor, to bills of £ 7 10s. and £ 8 Ills, respectively, on ttie Munster Bank of Tralee, and which were discounted, and which by information of 13th September, last, were not authorized by the said Bryan Connor:— Stooped about the shoulders, awkward gait, and appears thoughtful- looking and keeps his head down 4 brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair, dark whiskers turning gray, shaved the chin only ; wore a black soft jerry hat, dark frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a farmer. Rose Devlin— Bold- faced, speaks and walks quickly, wants a tooth, compressed lips, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 86 years of age, Wore an old gray Ulster cloak, old brown bonnet; attends fairs and markets. Description of the ass and car :— A brown she- ass, 15 years old. Body of car painted a dull red colour, one wheel larger than the other, the name " James Lawless, Dunshaughlin,'' painted in red letters on a board nailed to the off side of shaft; both value for about £ 3. DESCRIPTION of a greyhound, the property of John Sutcliffe, which was stolen from his out- house, at Knockabretta, parish of Crohane, county of Tipperary, S. R, on the night of 14th November, 1879:— A greyhound bitch, rather good size and well- bred looking, about 8 years old, colour fawn and white with more of the latter colour, had a wound about 2£ inches long in her left side; answers to the name of " Brenty." ' DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Dempsy ( mother's surname Dwyer), native of Cormackstown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st November, 1879, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Thurles, assaulted William Maher, by striking him on the head, thereby knocking him down:— Large hollow on right cheek from an old cut, swaggering gait, elbows raised when walking, speaks quick, with slight impediment in his speech, wild brown eyes, thick nose, pale complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 29 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low jerry hat, dark cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a mason. DESCRIPTION of two persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 10th and morning of 11th November, 1879. in the barony of Eliogarty, parishes of Thurles and Ballycahill, visited the houses of several farmers in this and Templemore district, cautioned them to pay no rent over Griffith's valuation, and that if they did they would be visited again ; the party fired shots when leaving the yards of two of the tenants :— 1. Unknown— Gentlemanly appearance, good ad- dress, shaves all his face, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 80 years of age ; wore a gray tweed cap with two peaks, short gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers. 2.
