PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder John Higgins ( z. 802), convicted in India by Court Martial, on the 29th October, 1873. for drunkenness and insubordination and seutenced t> 7 years penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a soldier, born at Belfast, resided in India with his regiment before conviction; brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, 5 feet 6^ inches high; scar on throat, D on left side, and two scars on centre of back. This convict was discharged from Portsmouth Convict Prison, on the 12th May, 1879, and went to reside at Belfast; he left his residence at Belfast without notifying same to the R. I. Constabulary, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 6th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic. cap. 112. Cork, where his parents reside. WHEBEAB it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 3nd day of April, 1878, William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands char ed with having, on the 26th day of September, 1879, at Shegoragh, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, visited the houses of Thomas M'Grath and John M'Donough, at night, armed with a gun, for the purpose of intimidating certun persons:— Dark complexion, face almost covered with black hair, probably false, large stout make, 6 feet high, 40 years of age( dark hair, tall silk hat, dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; suspected agent of an illegal society, going about intimidating persons obnoxious to members of the society, armed with a gun, and wore a cape like a policeman's, a belt, and ammunition pouches, and a gold watch chain j looks like a policeman in plain clothes, or drilled man.
