No Description can he inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. PARTICULARS relative to English. licence- iioiucr John Higgins ( z. 802), convicted in India by Court Martial, on the 29th October, 1873, for drunkenness and insubordination and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a soldier, born at Belfast, resided in India with his regiment before conviction; brown hair, blue eyes, l'resh complexion, 5 feet 6J inches high; scar on throat, D on left side, and two scars on centre of back. This convict was discharged from Portsmouth Convict Prison, on the 12th May, 1879, and went to roside at Belfast; he left his residence at Belfast without notifying same to the R. I. Constabulary, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 85 Vic. cap. 112. PARTICULARS relative to licence- holder John Larkin, 227- 14348, convicted in Dublin City, at Recorder's Court, on 9th June, 1875, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude :— 20 years of age on conviction, can read aad write, a Roman Catholic, single, a labourer, born in Dublin, resided before conviction in Bolton- street, Dublin, his friends reside at Rathmines, county Dublin; dark brown hair, gray eye ( left eye blind), dark brown eye brows, regular nose, small mouth, fair complexion, round visago, stout make, 5 feet 8£ inches high; is marked with anchor back of left hand, and cross on back of right, bracelet on left wrist, heart on left fore- arm, and J. on same arm, ring on second left finger, scar on left eyelid, on each eyebrow, and on forehead over left temple. This convict was discharged from Lusk Prison, 7th June, 1879, and went to reside in Dublin. He left No. 8, L urgan- street, Dublin, his last place of residence without notifying same to tbe Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRIPTION of three persons, names unknown, sup posed natives of Braid, near Broughshane, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1879, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of G '• cherry, and townland of Skerrywherry, fired at Thomas, George, and James Tippin, gamekeepers to Victor Coates, Esq., wounding George Tippin, with shot in fifteen places. They were armed with two guns, a double and single barrel," and had a grey- hound, of a dun and white colour, with black muzzle, and bad their faces blackened;-— 1. Unknown, very smart active appearance, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high; wore a round hat over face, dark coat, and trowsers. 2. DUBLIN CASTLE, 15th April, 1878. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 3nd day of April, 1878, William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, i> pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as wiU lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid by Edmund Y. Peel, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Letterkenny, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Mr. George Monson, which was stolen from the lands of Ki'lester Souih, parish of Killester, barony of Coolock, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th instant, viz.:— A milch cow, well bred, and in fair condition, about 5 years old, reddish brown colour, with several white spots on sides, cocked horns which are sharp; the front teat on near side is shorter than the others, and there is a fresh scratch on the front cue at off side; value for £ 15. An iron chain about 12 yards long, with which the animal was tied, was also stolen. Clontarf, October 19, 1879. ( 23998 o.— 41313.) DESCRIPTION of George Walker, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1879, in the barony of Tyrkennedy, parish of Ennis- killen, embezzled the sum off 12 7s. 6 d., the moneys of his employers, the Singer Manufacturing Com- pany :— Smart in manner and appearance, small moustache and whiskers, full brown eyes, regular nose, reddish complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, reddish hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers and vest. Patrick Stanton, junior ( assault endangering life), has been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 17th October, 1879. Kerry. DESCRIPTION of Pierce Deymend, native of Carrick on- Suir ( where his father resides), and Michael Walsh, native of Athlone, who stand charged with having, on the 9th of October, 1879, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, taken from a box, in a Hut in E Lines, Curragh Camp, the sum of £ 3 6s., being the money of John Duke, Shoemaker, by whom they were employed:— 1. Pierce Deymend— Gray eyes, sharp nose, sallow complexion, plump face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; black mous- tache ; shaves all his face but upper lip; wore a jerry hat, short black coat, tweed trowsers, no vest. 2. Michael Walsh— Has a slight halt, nose - and cheeks red, scurvy- like, with pimples, small gray eyes, regular nose, reddish complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age, gray hair, shaves all his face; wore a long brown coat, and tweed trowsers. DESCRIPTION of James Coffey, native of Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 19th December, 1867, in the barony of Kilkea and Moone, parish of Killellan, murdered William Dunne, of Ballyadams, Queen's County. ( See Hue- and- Cry of December, 1867.) It is supposed that this offender has returned to the country:— Down- looking appear- ance, heavy upper lip, speaks with coarse flat accent and slight lisp, shaved, except small whiskers; sunken gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 66 years of age, gray hair; wears a tall hat ( worn well down on forehead), blue coat, corduroy trowsers, black vest. DESCRIPTION of a cow, the property of Mrs. Margaret Murphy, which was stolen out of her field at Clonmore, parish of Clonmore, barony of Iverk, on the night of the 16th or morning of 16th instant:— Strawberry colour, rather red about the neck, tail recently cut short, about 6 years old, in good condition; value for £ 16. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Egan ( mother's surname Egan), native of Shannonharbour, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of October, 1879, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Tisaran, been one of a party who grievously assaulted Thomas Rourke and James M'Cormack, from the effects of which their lives are now in danger :— Brown eyes, long thin no9e, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft hat, blue pilot sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, Wellington boots; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dwyer ( mother's surname Shanahan), native of Drumelougher, and James Cummins, native of Towerhill, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 5th October, 1879, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Tuogh, seriously assaulted Martin Hayes, of Drumsally, by striking him with a stone on the head and thereby placing his life in danger:—• 1. Patrick Dwyer— Hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft hat, frieze coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. 2. James Cummins,— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Maria M'Andrew, Dative of Bangor, who stands charged with having, on or about the 9th June, 1879, and on 13th June, 1879, in the barony of Erris, parish of Kilcommon, stolen a letter which contained a post office order for 9s., and a letter containing a half- sovereign, the property of the Post- master General, she being postmistress at Bangor at the time ; she will endeavour to escape to America. She absconded from Bangor on 6th inst.; she was out on bail:— Dark eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, slender make, 6 feet 4 inches high, about 20 years of age, black hair; wore a black hat, black jacket and dark dress. Cogan, native of Bally- ragget, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, between the 20th August and 18th Septem- ber, 1879, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilcon- duff, at Swinford, embezzled the sum of£ l, 541.5s. 9d., the property of the Hibernian Joint- Stock Bank Directors:— Springs on toes in walking; quiet de- meanour; gray eyes, thin regular nose, fair com- plexion, long thin face, slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark hat, short dark tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a teller in the Hibernian Bank. Generally carries a stick, and keeps left hand in coat pocket when walking. He may try to escape in the garb of a Priest. Has two brothers in America. The Sub- Inspector at Swinford holds a warrant for his arrest, and £ 100 reward is oflered by the Hibernian Bank for his capture. ( 23530 40566.) Michael Connell ( attempt to commit aw? e), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 14th February, Thomas Cannon ( serious assault), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th February, 1879. Meath. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th September, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 12.15 o'clock, A. M., on the 25th ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq., was found dead on his own land at Johnsbrook, in the county of Meath, having been murdered by some person or persons unknown; His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the . conviction of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Captain the Honorable T. O. Plunkett, the Resident Magistrate at Navan, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Procla- mation. DESCRIPTION of a watch, the property of the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, county Meath, esq., stolen on the day of his murder, 24th August, 1879:— gold hunting watch, three quarter- plate lever, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; " West and Son, Dublin, 4544," engraved upon the move- ment, and probably the name " West and Son" also painted on the dial. This watch has been in wear since 1863, and can be identified. Athboy, Sept. 4, 1879. ( 23165 c 40181.) DESCRIPTION of eight bullocks, the property of Catherine Gogarty, which were stolen from the lands of Robertstown, parish of Kilbeg, barony of Lower Kells, on the night of the 15th or morning of the 16th October, 1879 :— 1. Two one- and- a- half year old bullocks, deep yellow colour, short horns, in good condition; value for £ 6. 2. Three one- and- arhalf year old bullocks, gray or roan colour, short horns, in good condition; value for £ 6. 8. Three one- and- a- half year old bullocks, red and white colour, wart on shoulder of one, supposed the left shoulder, short horns, in good condition ; value for £ 6. Kells, October 17, 1879. DESCRIPTION of two bullocks, the property of Patrick M'Nulty, which were stolen from the lands of Meath Hill, parish of Ardagh, barony of Lower Slane, on the night of the 10th or morning of the 11th October, 1879 :— 1. A one- and- a- half year old bullock, roan colour, short horns, in good condition ; value for £ 6. 2. A 2- year old bullock, deep red colour, turned- in horns, in good condition; value for £ 8. DESCRIPTION of James Duff, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with, having, on the 16th September, 1879, at Trowse, Norfolk, England, absconded with £ 110, the property of Patrick Carolan, Curtubber, county Meath, which he received to purchase cattle at the fair of Drogheda :— Several scars on head, which he jerks when walking, warts on right side of nose, gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore a brown tweed coat and trowsers, black cloth vest; is a cattle jobber. DESCRIPTION of Terence M'Kenna, native of Kerrib, Gorthoy, near Dungannon, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1879, in barony of Cremorne, parish of Ballibay, committed larceny of money from the shop of Mr. Samuel M'Clave, of Ballibay:— An old cut mark over left eye, full out mouth, one upper tooth promi- nent, has a shuffling gait of walking, gray eyes, prominent nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 80 years of age, dark hair; wore a low round hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a suspended Sub- Constable ll. I. C., and is likely to emigrate. Clones, October 12, 1879. ( 85376 D.— 44971.) DESCRIPTION of Christopher Wheelar ( mother's surname Campion), native of Mountrath, who stands charged with having, on 15th day of September, 1879, in the barony of Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen a coat, the property of John King, of Derry- hay, which has beeu since recovered :— Stooped shoulders, heavy gait when walking, brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, stout make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft hat, blue coat, tweed trowsers, and vost, wore all his beard, which is daikj is a quarry- man and stone- breaker. Michael Keefe ( failing to appear to take his trial when on bail, on the charge of stealing a gold watch), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd November, 1878. Roscommon. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of September, 1879, at Shegoragh, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, visited the houses of Thomas M'Grath and John M'Donough, at night, armed with a gun, for the purpose of intimidating certain persons:— Dark complexion, face almost covered with black hair, probably false, large stout make, 6 feet high, 40 years of agej dark hair, tall silk hat, dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; suspected agent of an illegal society, going about intimidating persons obnoxious to members of the sooiety, armed with a gun, and wore a cape like a policeman's, a belt, and ammunition pouches, and a gold watch chain; looks like a policeman in plain clothes, or drilled man. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Corr ( mother's surname M'Collum), native of Arboe, who stands charged with having, on the 8th October, 1879, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Tamlaght, stolen a quantity of wearing apparel from the dwelling- house of James Devlin, of Drumads:— Marks of old cuts on head, one of which is on forehead close to hair, snake and cross tattooed on arms, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin lace, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Description of the wearing apparel:— A blue cloth frock coat with satin buttons, value for about £ l 10s.; a double- breasted vest of the same material, value for 10s.; a puce and blue silk handkerchief with white and orange spots, value for Is. 6< f.; and a white check woollen tie, value for 6d.
