All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DESCRIPTION of David Thompson and Andrew Green, natives of Ballymoney, who stand charged with having, on the 10th day of October, 1879, in ' he barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Ballymoney,' stolen a sum of money in silver and notes amounting to over £ 8, the property of Robert C. Martin, Solicitor, David Thompson's employer :— 1. David Thompson— Brown eyes, regular no e, fresh complexion, freckled round face, medium make, 4 feet 5 inches high, about 15 years of age, light brown hair; wore a cloth cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is an attorney's writing clerk. 2. Andrew Green— Dark brown eyes, thin nose, swarthy complexion, small face, slight make, 4 feet 8 inches high, about 12 years of age ; wore a cloth cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a broom seller. A warrant is in the hands of the Constabulary at Ballymoney for David Thompson's arrest; he was accompanied by No. 2. October 12, 1879. ( 28869 c._ 41121.) DESCBIPTION of three persons, names unknown, suj posed natives of Braid, near Broughshane, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1879, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Glenwherry, and townland of Skerrywherry, fired at Thomas, George, and James Tippin, gamekeepers to Victor Coates, Esq., wounding George Tippin, with shot in fifteen places. They were armed with two guns, a double and single barrel, and had a grey- hound, of a dun and white colour, with black muzzle, and had their faces blackened:— 1. Unknown, veTy smart active appearance, slight make, 6 feet 10 inches high 5 wore a round hat over face, dark coa » , aod trowsers. 2. Unknown, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high; wore a round hat, dark coat, white moleskin trowsers. 8. Unknown, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high; wore a round hat, brown coat, and trowsers. Antrim, September 30, 1879. ( 23654 c.— 40815.) DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 25th September, 1879, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Robert Williamson, 291, about 17 years of sge, about 5 feet 5 inches high, slight make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, full mouth, sharp visage; pockpitted : mole below left breast j formerly belonged to Strandtown, Belfast, where his mother resides. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Moleskin ( washed) trowsers, vest, and jacket, red and black woollen check tie, blue cloth cap, Glengarry shape, nailed boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17369 29063.) DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, forged, and on the 26th day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for £ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to defraud, and failed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons to answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks his lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forwf rd when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers ; wore a brown hat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Armagh. The person unknown ( dangerous assault by stabbing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, 1879. Carlow. Thomas Meany ( sheep stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th July, 1879. Cavan. John Lantry ( assault endangering life), not ar- rested; Hue and- Cry, 26th August, 1879. WHERIAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body ot James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. DUBLIN CASTLE, 16th April, 1878. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.80 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878, William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown s His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the 3ame, or any of them. And Hia Grace is also pleased to offer > FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. The woman who gave her name as Casey ( robbery), not arrested ; Hue and- Cry, 2nd September, 1879. James Finegan ( cattle stealing),, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 2nd May, 1879. Fermanagh. DESCRIPTION of George Walker, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1879, in the barony of Tyrkennedy, parish of Ennis- killen, embezzled the sum of £ 12 7s. 6c?., the moneys of his employers, the Singer Manufacturing Com- pany:— Smart in manner and appearance, small moustache and whiskers, full brown eyes, regular nose, reddish complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, reddish hair; wore a dark coat, tiowsers and vest. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the afternoon of the 21st August, 1879, the body of James Brosnan was found in a meadow near his own house, in the townland, of Pilgrimhill, near Listowel, in the county of Kerry, murdered by some person or persons unknown : His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED FOUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall load to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid on conviction, by R. A. Massy, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Lisfowel, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. Tho man, name unknown, supposed to be Doyle, a native of county Louth ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 19th September, 1879. Thomas Rice ( waylay and assault endangering life), not arrested: Hue- and- Cry 29tli August, 1879. The person, name and native place unknown, ( assault and demand of money), not arrested ; Hue- and Cry, 35th February, 1879. DESCRIPTION of James Coffey, native of Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 19th December, 1867, in the barony of Kilkea and Moone, parish of Killellan, murdered William Dunne, of Ballyadams, Queen's County. ( See Hue- and- Cry of December, 1887.) It is supposed that this offender has returned to the country:— Down- looking appear- ance, heavy upper lip, speaks with coarse flat accent and slight lisp, shaved, except small whiskers; sunken gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 65 years of age, gray hair; wears a tall hat ( worn well down on forehead), blue coat, corduroy trowsers, black vest. Naas, September 22, 1879. ( 23401 c.— 40373.) Kildare. DESCRIPTION of Pierce Deymend, native of Carrick on- suir ( where his father resides), and Michael Walsh, native of Athlone, who stand charged with having, on the 9th of October, 1879, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, taken from a box, in a Hut in E Lines, Curragh Camp, the sum of £ 3 6s., being the money of John Duke, Shoemaker, by whom they were employed :— 1. Pierce Deymend— Gray eyes, sharp nose, sallow complexion, plump face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair ; black mous- tache ; shaves all his face but upper lip; wore a jerry hat, short black coat, tweed trowsers, no vest. 2. Michael Walsh— Has a slight halt, nose and cheeks red, scurvy- like, with pimples, small gray eyes, rrgular nose, reddish complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age, gray hair, shaves all his face; wore a long brown coat, and tweed trowsers. Kilkenny. James Mulhall ( cattle stealing), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 12th August, 1879. Michael Loughman ( writing threatening notices), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 11th July, 1879. King's. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Egan ( mother's surname Egan), native of Shannonharbour, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of October, 1879, in the ba ony of Garrycastle, parish of Tisaran, been one of a party who grievously assaulted Thomas Rourke and James M'Cormack, from the effects of which their lives are now ia danger :— Brown eyes, long thin nose, fresh complexion, regular face, m° dium make, 5 feet II inches high about - 24 yeirs of age, light brown hair; wore a soft hat, blue pilot sack coat, dark twfeed trowsers and vest, Wellington boots ; is a labourer. Limerick, DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dwyer ( mother's surname Shanahan), native of Drumelougher, and James Cummins, native of Towerhill, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 5th October, 18J9, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Tuogh, seriously assaulted Martin Hayes, of Drumsally, by striking him with a stone on the head and thereby placing his life in danger:— 1. Patrick Dwyer—- Hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round facs, stout make 5 feet .7 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft hat, frieze coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. 2. James Cummins,— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Maria M'Andrew, native of Bangor, who stands charged with having, on or about the 9th^ June, 1879, and on 13th June, 1879, in the baron}^ of Erris, parish of Kilcommon, stolen a letter which contained a prist office order for 9s., and a letter containing a half sovereign, the property of the Post- master General, she being postmistress at Bangor at the time ; she will endeavour to escape to America. She absconded from Bangor on 6th inst.; Bhe was out on bail:— Dark eyes, regular no^ e, sallow com- plexion, thin face slender make, 6 feet 4 inches high, about 20 years of age, black hair; wore a black hat, black jacket and dark dress. DESCRIPTION of three persons, names and native pla es unknown, who >- tand charged with having, on the evening of the 25th of September 1879, in the barony df Kilmaine, parish of Kilcommon, attempted to rob John Murphy on the public road near Holly- mount: — 1. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, large dark beard, short neck; spoke as if he had bean a labourer in England. 2. Unknown— S'out make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, large dirk beard, short neck; spoke as if he had been a labourer in England. 3. Unknown— Slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair and no beard; wore a low hat. Ballinrobe, Sept, 28, 1879. ( 28621 o— 40710.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick J. Cogan, native of Bally- ragget, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, betweeu the 20th August an! 13th Septem- ber, 1879, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Ktlcon- duff, at Swinford, embezzled tho sum of£ l, f> 4l5s 9d., the property of the Hibernian Joint- Stock Bank Directors:— Springs on toes in walking; quiet de- meanour; gray eyes, thin regular nose, lair com- plexion, long thin face, slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark hat, short dark tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a teller in the Hibernian Bank. Generally carries a stick, and keeps left band in coat pocket when talking He may try to escape in the garb of a Priest. Has two brothers in America. The Sub- Inspector at Swinford holds a warrant for his arrest, and £ 100 reward is oflered by the hibernian Bank for his capt ore. ( 23530 c.— 40566.) Thomas Cannon ( serious assault;, not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 11th February, 1879. Meath. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th September, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 12.15 o'clock, A. M., on the 25th ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq., was found dead on his own land at Johnsbrook, in the county of Meath, having been murdered by some person or persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Captain the Honorable T. O. Plunkett, the Resident Magistrate at Navan, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Procla- mation. DESC RIPTION of a watch, the property of the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, couniy Meath, esq., stoW on the day of his murder, 24th August, 1879:— gold hunting watch, three- quarter- plate lever, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; " West and Son, Dublin, 4544," engraved upon the move- ment, and probably the name " West and Son'" also painted on the dial. DESCRIPTION of James Duff, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with, having, on the 16th Sep'ember, 1879. at Trowse, Norfolk. England, absconded with £ 110, the property of Patrick Carolan, Curtubber, county Meath, which he ' received to purchase cattle at the fair of Drogheda :— Several scars on head, which he jerks when walking, wart* on right side of nose, gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore a brown tw. ed coat and trowsers, black oloth vest; is a cattle jobber. DESCRIPTION of Terence M'Kenna, native of Kerrib, Gorthoy, near Dungannon, comity Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1879, in the barony of Cremorne, parish of Ballibay, committed a larceny of money from the shop of Mr. Samuel M'Clave, of Ballibay:— An old cut mark over left eye, full out mouth, one upper tootti promi- nent, has a shuffling gait of walking, gray eyes, prominent nose, fresh complexion, full fac « , medium make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, daik hair; wore a l'> w round hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a suspended Sub- Constable It.
