DESCRIPTION of three persons, names unknown, suj posed natives of Braid, near Broughshane, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1879, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Glenwherry, and townland of Skerry wherry, fired at Thomas, George, and James Tippin, gamekeepers to Victor Coa'es, Esq., wounding George Tippin, with shot in fifteen places. They w< re armed with twj guns, a double and single barrel, and had a grey- hound, of a dun and white colour, with black muzzle, and had their faces blackened:— 1. Unknown, very smart active appearance, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high; wore a round hat over face, dark coa » , aod trowsers. 2. Unknown, slight make, 5 ftet 6 inches high; wore a round hat, dark coat, white moleskin trowsers. 8. Unknown, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high; wore a round hat, brown coat, and trowsers. . Antrim, September 80, 1879. ( 28654 c.— 40815.) deSCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 25th September, 1879, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Robert Williamson. 291, about 17 years of sge, about 5 feet 5 inches high, slight make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, full mouth, sharp visage; pockpitted ; mole below left breast t formerly belonged to Strandtown, Belfast, where his mother res'des. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:- Moleskin ( washed) trowsers, vest, and jacket, red and black woollen check tie, blm cloth cap, Glengarry shape, nailed boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ l. ( 17369 M.— 29u63.) DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, forged, and on the * 6ih day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for £ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to defra'id, and failed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons t, o answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks his lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forward when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make 6 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of a^ e, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers ; wore a brown hat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DUBLIN CASTLE, 4th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq , the Resident Magistrate at hilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his btd by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.80 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 3nd day of April, 1878, William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken . or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS > to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the afternoon of the 21st August, 1879, the body of James Brosnan was found in a meadow near his own house, in the townland of Pilgrimhill, near Listowel, in the county of Kerry, murdered by some person or persons unknown : His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed to be Doyle, a native of county Louth, who stands charged with having, on the 1 ith September, 1879, in the barony of Magonihy, parish of Kilcummin and townland of Scrahanfadda, stolen a cow, the property of Catherine Clifford : — Remarkably large head, slug- gish appearance, and looks like a tramp, drives cattle sometimes for jobbers, and recently worked as a navvy on the railway DOW being made near Listowel; was returning home, and will likely dispose of the cow on his way back; sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, and about 80 years of age; small brown whiskers meeting under chin. Description of the cow :— A red- coloured cow, with " hoobey" horns ( crooked arid turned towards head), white spot on forehead, in calf, and not much larger than a " Kerry" cow ; value for about £ 5 10*. The person, name and native place unknown, ( assault and demand of money), not arrested ; Hue- and Cry, 25th February, 1879. Kildare. DESCRIPTION of James Coffey, native of Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 19th December, 1867, in the barony of Kilkea and Moone, parish of Killellan, murdered William Dunne, of Ballyadams, Queen's County. ( See Hue- and- Cry of December, 1867.) It is supposed that this offender has returned to the country :— Down- looking appear- ance, heavy upper lip, speaks with coarse flat accent and slight lisp, shaved, except small whiskers; sunken gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 66 years of age, gray hair; wears a tall hat ( worn well down on forehead), blue coat, corduroy trowsers, black vest. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Egan ( mother's surname Egan), native of Shannonharbour, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of October, 1879, in the barony of Garrycastle, parish of Tisaran, been one of a party who grievously assaulted Thomas Rourke and James M'Cormack, from the effects of which iheir lives are now in danger :— Brown eyes, long thin nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 24 years of age, light brown hair; wore a soft hat, blue pilot sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, Wellington boots ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Dwyer ( mother's surname Shanahan), native of Drumelougher, and James Cummins, native of Towerhill, who stand charged with having, on the night of the 5th October, 1879, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish of Tuogh, seriously assaulted Martin Hayes, of Drumsally, by striking him with a stone on the head and thereby placing his life in danger:— 1. Patrick Dwyer— Hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair ; wore a soft hat, frieze coat, tweed trowsers and vest; ia a labourer. 2. James Cummins,— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexioo, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, October 6, 1879. ( 23761 c.— 40951.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Gillooly, native of Ballin- ga'ly, county Limerick, who stands charged w th having, on the 8th September, 1879, at Ballinlough, in the barony of Small County, pirish of Ballinlough, seriously assaulted Thomas Nihile with a loaded stick, fracturing his skull, thereby endangering his life:— Out mark on bridge of nose, wears all bis beard; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, oval face stout make, 5 feet 8| inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. This man is a returned convict, and was under Police supervision which ceased on 9th July last. Bruff September ] 1879. ( 23386 c.— 40351.) DESCRIPTION of three persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the evening of the 25th of September, 1879, in the barony of Kilmaine, parish of Kilcommon, attempted to rob John Murphy on the public road near Holly- mount:— 1. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, dark hair, large dark beard, short neck; spoke as if he had been a labourer in England. 2. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, large dark beard, short neck; spoke as if he had been a labourer in England. 3. Unknown— Slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair and no beard; wore a low hat. ^ Ballinrobe, Sept. 28, 1879. ( 23621 o.- M0710.) DESCRIPTION of Patrick J. Cogan, native of Bally- ragget, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, between the 20th August and 18th Septem- ber, 1879, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilcon- duff, at Swinford, embezzled the sum of £ I ,. 1415 s 9 d., the property of the Hibernian Joint- Stock Bank Directors:— Springs on toes in walking; quiet de- meanour; gray eyes, thin regular nose, fair com- plexion, long thin face, slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair 5 wore a dark hat, short dark tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a teller in the Hibernian Bank. Generally carries a stick, and keeps left hand in coat pocket when walking He may try to escape in the garb of a Priest. Has two brothers in America. The Sub- Inspector at Swinford holds a warrant for his urrest, and £ 100 reward is offered by the Hibernian Bank for his capture. ( 23530 0.— 40566.) WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 12.15 o'clock, A. M., on the 25th ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq , was found dead oa his own land at Johnsbrook, in the county of Meath, haviog been murdered by some person or persons unknown ; His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persona who committed the same ; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BuRKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Captain the Honorable T. O. Plunkett, the Resident Magistrate at Navan, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Procla- mation. DESCRIPTION of a watch, the property of the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, county Meath, esq., stolen on the day of his murder, 24th August, 1879:— gold hunting watch, three- quarter- plate lever, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; » • West and Son, Dublin, 4544," engraved upon the move- ment, and probably the name " West and Son'* also painted on the dial. This watch has been in wear since 1863, and can be identified. Athboy, Sept. 4, 1879. ( 23165 0.— 40181.) DESCRIPTION of James Duff, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with, having, on the 10th September, 1879, at Trowse, Norfolk, England, absconded with £ 110, the property of Patrick Carolan, Curtubber, county Meath, which he received to purchase cattle at the fair of Drogheda :—- Several scars on head, which he jerks when walking, warn on right side of nose, gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore a brown tweed coat and trowsers, black cloth vest; is a cattle jobber. Michael Keefe ( failing to appear to take his trial when on bail, on the charge of stealing a gold watch), has not been arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 22nd November, 1878. Roscommon. DESCRIPTION of John Fitzsimons, mother's surname Keaveny, native of Cloncraff, who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1879, is the barony of Ballintober North, parish of Kilglass, been one of a party who waylaid and assaulted Michael and James Doherty. of Liscolvin, on the public road at Moyglass :— Cheek bones a li tie prominent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a small round hat, common make s dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Strokcstown, Sept. 8, 1879. ( 23176 c.— 40003.) The house the property of Hugh Forde, described in ihe Hue- and- Cry of lbth October, 1878, has been recovered by the owner. DESCRIPTION of a person, name and native place ur- known. who stands charged with having, on the 4th Sep- tember, 1879, at Aughris, in the barony of Tireragh, parish of Templeboy, been one of a party who entered the lodgings of James Cunningham, and dragged him out, cutting off part of his left ear, and firing shots outside house:— Straight nose, dark complexion, long face, very stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 30 years of age; red hair, sandy beard on chin ; wore a soft black hat, old frieze coat. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Ryan, native of Cappa- white, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of September, 1879, in the barony of Kilna- managh, parish of Toem, grievously assaulted Michael Dwyer, by striking him with stones on the head :— Left knee bent inward, causing a slight halt in his walk, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, light brown hair; wore a black jerry hat, brown coat, trowsers, and vest.
