PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder John Leany, A. 1610, convicted at Dum Dum, Calcutta, 8th December, 1874, for insubordination- and violently resisting escort, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 24 years of age on con- viction, is single, a labourer, born at Skreen, county Meath, formerly a soldier in 62nd Regiment, slender build, oval visage, and 5 feet 8$ inches high, scar on bridge of nose and right elbow, nose inclines to left side, mole on iaside of right arm and on right breast. This convict was discharged from Portland Convict Prison, on 18th Juoe, 1879, and reported himself to the Dublin Metropolitan Police, 26th June, 1879, and stated he was going to Skreen, county Meath. He reported himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary at Kilmoon, county Meath, 26th July, 1879, but not since, and his presont whereabouts are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. G eneral Prisons Board, September 11, 1879. ( 16521 M.— 28795.) PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder James Doran, v. 674, convicted at Ramsey, Isle of Man, on 18th November, 1869, for bestiality, and sentenced to 14 years penal servitude:— 18 years of age on conviction, single, a labourer, born in Ireland, resided before conviction in Ramsey ; dark brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, propor- tionate make, 6 feet 6 inches high. This convict was discharged from Portsmouth Convict Prison, 19th June, 1879, on a special licence, and went to reside at Ramsey. He reported his arrival at Newry on the 1 st ultimo, and left that place without notifying same to the Royal Irish Con- stabulary, andshis present whereabouts are unknowri. Convict Simon Cunningham ( 2680), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 26th February, 1879. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. DESCRIPTION of three persons, names unknown, supposed natives of Braid, near Broughshane, who stand charged with having, on the 26th September, 1879, in the barony of Lower Antrim, parish of Glenwherry, and townland of Skerrywherry, fired at Thomas, George, and James Tippin, gamekeepers to Victor Coates, Esq., wounding George Tippin, with shot in fifteen places. They were armed with two guns, a double and single barrel, and had a grey- hound, of a dun and white colour, with black muzzle, and had their faces blackened:— 1. Unknown, very smart active appearance, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high; wore a round hat over fiace, dark coat, and trowsers. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 25th September, 1879, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— Robert Williamson, 291, about 17 years of sge, about 5 feet 5 inches high, slight make, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, full mouth, sharp visage; pockpitted ; mole below left breast; formerly belonged to Strandtown, Belfast, where his mother resides. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Moleskin ( washed) trowsers, vest, and jacket, red and black woollen check tie, blua cloth cap, Glengarry shape, nailed boots, woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17369 m.— 29063.) DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, lorged, and on the 26th day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for £ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to defraud, and failed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons t, o answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks his lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forward when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make 6 leet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers ; wore a brown hat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check trowsers and vest; is a farmer. A Warrant is in the hands of the Police at Loughguile for his arrest. Ballymoney, Sept. 6, 1679. ( 23338o.— 40275.) WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body ot James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Graee, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six monthb from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such informatioi- as will lead to the conviction oi the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. DESCRIPTION of five 2 year old hogget sheep, tho property of Mr. Arthur Connor, which were stolen from tho lands of Lisloughlin, parish of Ballymac- ward, barony of Tiaquin, on the night of 2Sth Sept- ember, 1879 : —* The five marked with the letters " J. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed to be Doyle, a native of county Loutb, who stands charged with having, on the 1' th September, 1879, In the barony of Magonihy, parish of Kilcummin and townlnnd of Scrahanfadda, stolen a cow, the property of Catherine Clifford: — Remarkably large head, slug- gish appearance, and looks like a tramp, drives cattle sometimes for jobbers, and recently worked as a navvy on Ihe railway now being made near Listowel; was returning home, and will likely dispose of the cow on his way back; sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, and about 30 years of age; small brown whiskers meeting under chin. Description of the cow :— A red- coloured cow, with *' hoobey" horns ( crooked and turned towards head), white spot on fof1ehea< l, in calf, and not much larger than a " Kerry" cow ; value for about £ 5 10*. DESCRIPTION of James Coffey, native of Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 19th December, 1867, in the barony of Kilkea and Moone, parish of Killellan, murdered William Dunne, of Ballyadams, Queen's County. ( See Hu< i anrf- Cry of December, 1867.) It is supposed that this offender has returned to the country :— Down- looking appear- ance, heavy upper lip, speaks with coarse flat accent and slight lisp, shaved, except small whiskers sunken gray eyes, regular no* e, dark complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 66 years of age, gray hair; wears a tall hat ( worn well down on forehead), blue coat, corduroy trowsers, black vest. DESCRIPTION of Michael Gillooly, native of Ballin- gally, county Limerick, who stands charged w; th hiving, on the 8th September, 1879, at Ballinlough, in the barony of Small County, parish of Ballinlough, seriously assaulted Thomas Nihile with a loaded stick, fracturing his skull, thereby endangering his life:— Cut mark on bridge of nose, wears all his btard; gray eyes, regular nose, fair* complexion, oval face, stout make, 6 feet 8| inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of three persons, names and native places unknown, who htand charged with having, on the evening of the 25th of September, 1879, in the barony of Kilmaine, parish of Kilcommon, attempted to rob John Murphy on the public road near Holly- mount:— 1. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of ai* e, dark hair, large dark beard, short neck; spoke as if he had been a labourer in England. 2. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 7 Inches high, about 30 years of age, large dark beard, short neck; spoke as if he had been a labourer in England. 3. Unknown— Slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair and no beard; wore a low hat Ballinrobe, Sept. 28, J879. ( 23621 o.— 40710.) DESCRIPTION 6t Patrick J. Cogan, native of Bally- ragget, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, between the 20th August and iSth Septem- ber, 1879, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilcon- duff, at Swinford, embezzled the sum of £ i ,541 fit ' M , the property of the Hibernian Joint- Stock Bank Directors:— Springs on toes in walkings quiet de- meanour; gray eyes, thin regular nose, lair com- plexion, 1 > ng thin face, slender make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a durk hat, short dark tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a teller in the Hibernian Bank. Generally carries a stick, and keeps left hand in coat pocket, when walking He may try to escape in the garb of a Priest. Has two brothers in America. The Sub- Inspector at Swinford holds a warrant for his arrest, and £ 100 reward is offered by the Hibernian Bank for his capt ire. ( 23530 O.— 40566.) WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 12.15 o'olock, A. M., on the 25th ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq., was found dead on his own land at Johnsbrook, in the county of Meath, having been murdered by some person or persons unknown; His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the sameand a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. DESCRIPTION of James Duff, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with, having, on the 16th September, 1879, at Trowse, Norfolk. England, absconded with £ 110, the property of Patrick Carolan, Curtubber, county Meath, which be received to purchase cattle at the fair of Drogheda :— Several scars on head, which he jerks when walking, wartt on right side of nose, gray eyrs, regular nose, florid complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age; wore a brown tvp coat and trowsers, black cloth vesi; is a cattle Kells, September 30, 1879* ( 23670 c.— 40802.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Deignan, native of Martins- town, Athboy, who stands charged with having, on the 30th August, 1879, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, received from his employer ( Owen Murtagh), 8 bead of cattle ( value for about £ 130), to sell in Manchester market, and with having embezzled the proceeds of the sale of said cattle:— Stooped shoulders generally carried a brown frieze overcoat across his arm, and a long thin stick in his hand, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, nedium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 65 years nf age, dark hair turning gray ; wore a large soft felt hat, frock coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a cattle jobber. DESCRIPTION of Terence Scanlon ( mother'^ sur- name, Neary), native of Sligo town, who stands charged with having, em the 13th September, 1879, in the town of Sligo, in the barony of Carbury, parish of St. John's, assaulted his wife, Margaret Scanlon, by kicking her on the head, and inflicting two serious wouuds, which endanger her life:— Little finger of right hand crooked, small cut mark on forebear', brown eyec, regular nose, fiesh complexion, full face, j stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 34 yeavs of j age, brown hair, wore a low felt hat, blue frock coat, cordurov trnwsers, tweed vest; is a labourer.
