On 19th or 20th instant, a dwelling- house at Brearey Hill, Healey, was entered and stolen therefrom : eight £ 5 Notes_ of the Wensleydale Banking Company, and ,£ 13 10s. in Gold. Supposed by two men : 1st, about 30 yra. of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion, and brown hair; dressed in a grey cloth suit, short jacket, round hard billycock hat, and light boots, much worn, supposed to be a quarryman or labourer, and a native of Norfolk. 2nd, about 40 to 50 yra. of age, 5 ft. 10 or 11 ina. high, dark complexion, hair ( supposed) turning grey ; dressed in a cheek or plaid acket, supposed moleskin vest and trousers, hard billycock lat, a quarryman, supposed to be a native of Baildon, W. Description of a woman going about to linendrapers and others, and passing bad cheques, drawn upon the City Building Society Bank : about 30 years of age, good looking, tall and thin ; dressed in a black rink hat and fall, black silk dress and paletot; cheque signed ' Henry Cook,' and endorsed ' Louisa Drew.' Information to Head Constable Eogers, Eedhill, Surrey.— Bow- street, September 22. Absconded, charged with felony and forgery: J. STONE, 50 years of age, 5 feet ^ iuchea high, swarthy complexion, brown hair, whiakera, and moustache, turning grey ; dreased in dark mixture suit, and high hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, September 22. lOBBERY AMD LARCEKY FROM THE PERSON. Charged with stealing from the person— a lady's silver Geneva Watch, white dial, and gilt figures, flowers engraved round inner case, cases damaged and cannot be shut properly a silver Albert Guard, pattern two small links and one large reversible Seal, stone dark colour on one side and brown on the other : GEOEGE EOBEETS, alias BIG JOSS, 27 years of age, 5 feet 8i inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, blue eyea, light brown hair, a collier, born at. Dudley, coal marks on bridge of nose ; dressed in printed moleskin trousers, dark coat, and thick woollen cap. And BENJAMIN GEE EN, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, brown hair, collier; dressed in dark coat, imitation sealskin vest, brown trousers, woollen cap with peak, and a button on top, wears cap always on back of head. Stolen from the peraon at Lichfield Eaces, on 16th inst. : a pair of Field Glasses, made of black morocco leather, sunshade sight, marked with scratch of a pin on barrel. Information to Sergeant Hammond, Whittington, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, September 19. Stolen from the person, at the Great Western Eailway Station, Neath, on 12th instant: a silver hunting Watch, No. 13062, makers— Ganz and Co.; and a silver Albert, with Half a Eupee, dated ' 1840,' attached. Information to Head Constable Phillips, Neath, Glamorganshire. — Bow- street, September 17. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, between 2 and 6 p. m. on 18th instant, at Cradley : a dark tweed jacket, two outside pockets in skirt, sleeves lined with white calico ; a black cloth Yest and Trousers, flap front, lined with white calico, all men's size and nearly new; a blue and white plaid cotton Shirt, marked ' W. O.' with red cotton; a cotton Handkerchief, white ground with red border and spots; a woman's dark drab Stays, small size; and lOd. in bronze Coin. Information to Mr. Superintendent Ovens, Herefordshire Con' stabulary, Bromyard, or to Sergeant Smith, Cradley, near Malvern.— Bow- street, September 22. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen at Salford, on 18th instant, by means of housebreaking : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, gold dial with wreath of flowers in plain gold, No. 17636, maker unknown ; a long gold neck Chain, with small close links; a gent's gold Albert, cable pattern, with masonic appendages; and a gold Eing, in which a sovereign had been set; 2 paira of plain gold Earrings ; 1 pair gold do., Italian filigree work ; a plain gold Brooch; a Serpentine do.; a lady's Eing, two emeralds and one diamond, gipsy setting ; a gold Eing, two rubies form of two hearts ; 1 do. set with turquoise and spark diamond ; 1 set gent's gold Studs, engraved monogram ' W. P.'; a gold Locket; a pair of silver Earrings and Brooch ; a silver Locket and Chain. Information to Chief Constable Torrens, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- st., September 24. Stolen from a draper's shop in Berwick- upon- Tweed, during the night of 20th instant, by means of shopbreaking : six pebble Brooches, set in silver, three of them round in shape, the others may be oval shaped ; a silver Brooch, round shaped, with bird engraved in centre ; a silver and pebble mounted shawl Pin, shape of a sword ; two silver Lockets; a pair of silver Ear- rings; a pair of tortoise shell Ear- rings; eight dozen packets of Needles ; and between £ 4 and £ 5 in Stolen between 11 a. m. and 1.30 p. m., on 18th instant : a gold lever Watch, with ' M. J. S.' engraved on the back of outer case, and gold dial, maker— Arnold and Lewis, Manchester, No. 44004 ; a gold lever Watch, gold dial, made by some one in Liverpool; a gent's gold Albert, 18 carat, each Ii? k chased and stamped, curb pattern, has au axe at the end to go through button hole, also a Seal with two different coloured stones in which form a key ; a gold Necklet and Locket with diamonds, in shape of a leaf ; a gold Necklet, Prince of Wales' pattern, and a Pendant, set with pearls and turquoise, with photo of a lady at the back; a black jet Necklet and a Pendant, set with crystals; a gold Mourning Eing, with small'diamond in centre, and the words ' In Memory of,' also some hair enclosed ; a gold Mourning Eing, made out of two wedding rings soldered together and set pearls; a gold Eing, set with turquoise and pearls; a gold Eing, set with seven pearls, one of them missing ; 2 gold Rings, aet with rubies and pearls; 2 gold Eings, set with lavender stones and pearls, and have the letter ' S' in centre of them ; a gold Eing, aet vith green stones ; pair of coloured gold Ear - drops, with ball in centre and covered with filigree work ; pair of coloured gold Ear- drops, with five or six pearls round the border and one in centre ; pair of small gold- plated Ear- drops, aet with yellow stones ; a Sovereign of the reign of George the Third, equal to new ; a Half- Guinea, with a hole through; a gold- plated Pencil- case ; 2 ladies' gold watch Chains ; and a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, with ' S' on bow. On the same day the gold lever Watch, No. 44004, was pledged in Manchester for £ 3, by a man from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, slender build, dark hair and complexion, and whiskers round his face ; dressed in a black cloth suit, spotted shirt with imitation gold studs, pot hat, and old shoes. i> 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to Head Constable Kershaw, Town Hall, Southport, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 22. During the night of 17th instant, a farm house at High Catton, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 5 Bottles of Gin, 2 of Eum, 2 of Sherry, and 3 [ fruit Pies, the spirits are in ordinary 3 gill bottles, the corks of which are marked in ink ' G.' ' E . ' ' S.', which denotes the contents. Also during the night of 18th instant, the vicarage house at Scrayingham, was broken and entered, and stolen therein a silver pepper Castor, with crest, nearly worn out; 4 silver Tea Spoons, crest— boars head ; a silver punch Ladle, handle broken off; a silver Pencil Case; a silver Spy Glaaa, 8 or 9 inches long, with slide; a fruit Knife, with pearl handle and silver blade ; an old- fashioned fruit Knife, with gold handle and silver blade; 2 glass Cloths, in blue squares ; and a white harding Apron, marked ' A. Anderson.' Both supposed by a man, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, proportionate figure ; dressed in a dark suit of clothes, trousers supposed dark cord, black stiff low felt hat, and boots without nails. Information to Mr. Superintendent Wood, Police Station, Pocklington, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 22. Stolen during the night of 15th instant: a man's grey small plaid loose- fitting Coat, or jacket, with two pockets outside and one inside left breast, light bone buttons ; a dark grey worsted cloth Overcoat, bound with black braid, has the name ' Beaty, Brothers, Manchester,' on the tab ; a mackintosh Coat, black on one side, light on the other, without one button at the bottom ; a black Eug, striped with red on one side, and hemmed with yellow worsted ; a 2- foot Eule, doubles in four ; a pocket Book, containing County Court Papers. Information to Chief Constable Holgate, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Sept. 19. Stolen, by means of hoasebre iking, between 10 p. m. on 12th and 5 a. m. on 13th instant, at Eassington Grange: a grey or drab cloth Overcoat, double- breasted, drab velvet collar, two rows of buttons down front, two pockets and ticket pocket outside, one of the pockets contained a pair of drab driving Gloves, also the glass part of a toy Looking- glass, size 3 in. by 2 in., round top, and about 1 lb. of cooked Ham ; two silver Teaspoons, marked ' T. I.', are cracked half way across the mouth ; a common Tablespoon; pair of man's grey worsted Socks, lias the letters ' G. I.' in red cotton thread marked near the tops ; a church Missionary Box, containing Money; and a copy of the ' Doneaster, Nottingham and Lincoln Gazette, 12th September, 1879.' The Missionary Box has since been found broken open and its contents taken away. Supposed by tramps. Information to Mr. Superintendent Sykea, West Eiding Constabulary, Doncaster.— Bowstreet, September 19. Between 7.45 and 8.15 p. m. on 16th instant, three or four men entered a bed- room on the first floor at Chilston House, Tunbridge Wells, by means of a ladder, and stole a silver demi- hunting Watch, outside dial haa blue figures, the seconds hand is gone. They eacaped in a horse and cart. The wedges with which they secured the doors were left behind, and appear to have frequently been used for a similar purpose. Information to the Head Constable, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, September 19. Stolen between 11 p. m. on 16th, and 1* 30 a. m. on 17th instant, at Thorganby : a silver lever Watch, No. 1336, maker Keiser, York ; a silver Albert Guard; a brass Key ; a brass Seal, red stone; a steel Chain; and a steel Seal, a cross on the bottom. Also stolen between 11 p. m. on 16th, and 6 a. m. on 17th instant, at Wheldrake : a brown leather Purse, ' Friendship' printed upon it, containing 8d. in Coppers; a jet Brooch, with a flower upon i t ; a cornelian Brooch, silver back ; a silver Thimble; and a clasp pruning Knife, with a Saw attached. Information to Inspector " Farrah,- Police Station. Kscrick, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 19. During the night of 11th instant, the ' King's Head hotel, Leicester, was entered, the articles stolen were pledged on 12th instant: by a man, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, sandy complexion and hair, no moustache, but appeared to have one shaved off 2 or 3 weeks ago, had a broad blue ring tattooed on middle finger of each hand, rather slight make ; dressed in light drab or stone coloured doublebreasted vest, large check, dark tweed coat, supposed cord trousers, and black billycock hat, with narrow brim. Information to Mr. Superintendent Peberdy, Loughborough, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, September 19. HORSE AMD CATTLE STEALING. Left at a public- house, at Guildford, on 13th inatant ( supposed stolen) : a brown coloured male Donkey, about 5 years old ; with a set of brass- mounted Harness, and a light spring Cart, has been used as a brick cart. By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high ; stated he would call the next day but has not been seen since. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Barker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- street, September 24. Further information respecting the Horse stolen from Godalming, Surrey, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 8th, 25th, and 29th ultimo, recovered at Epping, Essex: a • warrant is now issued for the apprehension of JTEANCIS MAETIN, charged with stealing the same, he is a license holder, No. 523, 31 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, oval face, no whiskers, small sandy moustache. Frequents fairs and markets near London, supposed connected with low horse stealera. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Barker, Surrey Conatabulary, Guildford, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bowstreet, September 24. Absconded from Evercreech, Somerset, on 11th instant, charged with stealing an old light- coloured horse Donkey, and a apring donkey Cart, with which he was entrusted to go to Bruton, where he offered them for sale on 13th instant : JOSEPH EE AKES, a carpenter, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, wears moustache, but no whiskers. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Bisgood, Glastonbury, or to Sergeant Williams, Shepton Mallet, Somersetshire, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, September 24. Found at Glossop, on 2nd instant, supposed stolen: a dark brown Mare, rising 4 years old, about 14 hands high, white mark down face, full mane, short tail, shod all round, and in good condition. Information to Head Constable Hodgson, Glossop, Derby.— Bow- street, September 24. Description of WILLIAM HEPTON, charged with horsestealing : 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout built, fair complexion, full red face, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in an old rusty cutaway coat, fustian trousers and vest, and an imitation sealskin cap with peak, and carried with him a white bag, containing a decent suit of black clothes. Information to Mr. Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sittingbourne, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 22. Stolen at Ablington, Figheldean, Wilts, on the night of 13th instant; a brown mare Donkey, has a hole through the middle of left ear, walks a little lame, aged. Information to Mr. Superintendent Wiltshire, Marlborough, Wilts.— Bow- , September 22. T g A* September 24 of SarTall in 6n Jent Williams, 5ce Office, Uttoxeter, — stealing at Astley, Salop, on 17th instant : JOHN WILDING, 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, small dark whiskers, rather prominent cheek bones, very upright, slender build ; dressed in dark clothes, dark overcoat, elastic side boots, and round hard hat, is a carpenter by . trade, and is supposed to he working at a railway waggon works, near t< Liverpool. £ 5 reward will he paid upon conviction. Stolen on 12th instant, from a field at East Dulwich : _ dark brown mare Pony, 11J hands high, bobtail, foaled about five months ago.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, Sept. 22 L A R C E N Y A N D E M B E Z Z L E M E N T Description of JOHN BIRK1TT, labourer, native of Barton, charged with stealing Rabbits ( recovered) : he is about 26 years of age, hut looks [ older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, beard and whiskers shaved off, has an impediment in his speech; dressed in old dirty grey suit, old cloth cap with peak of same material, he wears clog boots, but lost one has he was running away. He has a sister living at 1, Lansdown- road, Brandeam- road, Lee Kent. He may be found at lodging houses, or with gipseys Information to Inspector Ward, Barton- on- Humber, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Sept. 24. Stolen about 9 a. m. on 12th instant, at the ' Duke of St. Alban's' beerhouse, St. Alhan's : a silver lever Watch, open face, silver dial and gold figures, second hands broken off, No. 1731, has a gilt albert Chain and Locket attached. By WILLIAM EVERETT, a shoemaker, 64 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inch's high, dark hair and whiskers, high shoulders ; dressed in dark clothes, and wears a white apron. He has a sister living at Birmingham. Information to Mr. Superintendent Pike, St. Alhan's, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 24. Description of JOSEPH JEFFCOTE, ' alias JOE YARDLEY, late of Stockingford, labourer, charged on a warrant with larceny, at Nuneaton, on 13th instant: he is 38 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, long thin face, slight build; dressed in old blue pilot cloth coat, moleskin trousers, light vest, and black felt hat; likely to seek employment in brickyards or new railways. Information to Mr. Superintendent Walker, Atherstone, or to Inspector Hannah, Nuneaton, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, September 24. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: CHARLES E. TUCKER, late of 3, Carden- road, Peckham, and late clerk to Messrs. Taylor, Wine Merchants, 27, Leadenhall- street, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair and moustache, slim build, rather good looking; well dressed. Information to Inspector McWilliam, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- treet, September 24. • Absconded on 20th. instant, stealing .£ 185 in gold and silver, a £ 5 bank of England Note, and a Cheque for £ 2 cn Hill and Sons, Smithfield, drawn by Richard Pettitt, payable to Mr. Bailey : THOMAS SANDLANDS, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, hair, heard and moustache black : dress, blue serge jacket and vest, drab trousers, bLck cloth stitched hat, a clerk. A reward of .£ 20 will be paid by Messrs. Bailey, Salesmen, Spitalfields Market, to any person or persons who will give such information as will lead to his apprehension and conviction, or in proportion to the amount recovered.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, September 24. Stolen early on morning of 14th instant, at the ' George Tap,' St. Albans, by two bicyclists, who slept there the night: a brown tweed Jacket and Trousers, and about £ 1 in Silver. Information to Mr. Superintendent Pike, Police Office, St. Albans, Herts.— Bow- street, September 24. The man described in the Police Gazette of 15th instant, charged with stealing 3 gold Rings and a gold Watch, at High Halstow, Kent, has been apprehended and committed for trial— Bow- street, September 24. Stolen on 21st instant, at Worcester : a gent's gold stop Watch, white face, with ' Presented to James Sheahy,' engraved on case; a gent.' s double- case gold Watch, with ' Presented to Charles Smith, 1866,' engraved on case; about £ 6 10s. in Gold, £ 1 2s. in Silver; a quantity of fourpenny and threepenny Pieces; and a had Sovereign. Supposed hy three men who were lodging at the house, one about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light whiskers and moustache, speaks with a German accent; dressed in grey trousers and vest, blue fineribbed frock c? at, and black billycock hat. The other two about same age, hut rather shorter; dressed in blue clothes, and have amongst them a dark red ulster top Coat. Information to Detective Phillips, City Police, Worcester.— Bowstreet, September 24. Absconded on 20th instant, stealing a single- breasted grey plaid Overcoat, a black ribhed cloth frock Coat, a light grey Vest, a pair of dark mixture Trousers, a pair of brown and red woollen Socks, a woollen Singlet, a pair of man's Drawers, a dark brown alpaca Umbrella, 2 meerschaum Pipes, a pair of gold- plated Sleeve Links, a set of ditto Studs ( bone backs) : a Norwegian, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, complexion, hair, moustache, and whiskers ( slight) dark, scar on left wrist, left hand contracted ; dress, stolen clothes, oxonian shoes, hard felt hat. - Metropolitan Police, Iv Division, September 24. Stolen at Croxby, on 17th instant: a pair of black pilot cloth Trousers, fly fronts, only one pocket which is on the right side, a, nd a few stitches in the seam near the pocket; a black silk Neckerchief was iu the trousers pock a t ; a white ootton Shirt, linen front, clean; a pair of white woollen Socks, nearly new; a black Necktie with white spots; i lb. of Tea ; 1 lb. of Sugar. By an Irish labourer who lodged on the premises during the previous night, about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, thick top lip, no whiskers or moustache, beard about 4 or 5 days growth ; dressed in old dark cap, peak of same material, short dark pilot jacket, old moleskin trousers, old lace- up boots. Had a small bundle when he came to Croxby, in a red spotted cotton handkerchief, and carried a alking stick. Also stolen from Kirmond- le- Mire, on 15th instant : a gathering Rake, with iron head, the middle tooth loose, the shaft is black, and some of it has been cut away with a knife, and is much worn. Information to Mr. Superintendent Henson, Police Station, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, September 22. Description of WALTER CHARLES, alias DeRUTZEN alias BAKER, charged on warrant with larceny : about 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thick set, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair, very few light whiskers, very slight moustache, small ridge down forehead towards nose ; dressed when last seeu in a shepherd's plaid suit, black round crown hat, and a white silk tie with a gold pin. Information to Chief Constable Barnden, Brighton, Sussex.— Bom- street, September 22. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: JOSEPH PEAKE, late of 5, Grove- road, Albion- road, Stoke Newington, 35 to 36 years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, hair and moustache ( small) light brown and turning grey, long nose; dressed in dark blue serge suit, and hard black felt hat. His mother resides at Southend. He is also well known to Mr. West, butcher, Croydon, and he has a brother residing at Bristol.
