DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder John Leany, A. 1610, convicted at Dum Dum, Calcutta, 8th December, 1874, for insubordination and violently resisting escort, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 24 yeais of age on con- viction, is single, a labourer, born at Skreen, county Meath, formerly a soldier in 62nd Regiment, slender build, oval visage, and 5 feet 8$ inches high, scar on bridge of nose and right elbow, nose inclines to left side, mole on inside of right arm and on right breast. This convict was discharged from Portland Convict Prison, on 18th June, 1879, and reported himself to the Dublin Metropolitan Police, 26th June. 1879, and stated he was going to Skreen, county Meath. He reported himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary at Kilmoon, county Meath, 26th July, 1879, but not since, and his present whereabouts are unknown. In tho event of his arreet he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, September 11, 1879. ( 16521 M.— 28795.) PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder James Doran, v. 574, convicted at Ramsey, Isle of Man, on 18th November, 1869, for bestiality, and sentenced to 14 years penal servitude:— 18 vears of age on conviction, single, a labourer, born in Ireland, resided before conviction in Ramsey; dark brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, propor- tionate make, 5 feet 6 inches high. This convict was discharged from Portsmouth Convict Prison, 19th June, 1879, on a special licence, and went to reside at Ramsey. He reported his arrival at Newry on the 1st ultimo, and left that place without notifying same to the Royal Irish Con- stabulary, and his present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRIPTION of John M'Curdy ( mother's surname, Callaghan), native of Lemnaghmore, who stands charged on suspicion with having, on the 11th day of September, 1879, at Craiglappin, in the barony of Carey, parish of Ballintoy, dangerously assaulted Neal M'Conaghy :— Gray eyes, slightly drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore a rap, tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a faimer's son. A warrant is in the hands of the Con- stabulary at Mnsside for his arrest. Ballymoney, Sept. 18, 1879, ( 23437 c.- 40430.) DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, forged, and on thp 26th day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for £ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to defraud, and failed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons to answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks bis lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forward when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make. 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers ; wore a brown hat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of John Lantry ( mother's surname Harten\ native of Derries, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Clonmahon, parith of Scrabby, at Salla- ghan, committed an affray, in which Edward Brady and Charles Mulligan were stabbed, and their lives endangered— see Hue- and- Cry dated 19th August, 1879 ( 28053 c.— 39811) :— gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black cap, dark fritze coat, dark cord trowsers, dark frieze vest; is a farmer's son. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviotion, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DUBLIN CASTLE, 14th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. DESCRIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's name Considine), native of Kilmoon East, who stands charged with havirig, on the 28th August, 187P, at Kilmoon West, in the barony of Burren, parish of Kilmoon, seriously assaulted James Fla- herty, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby tndangering his life :— slightly pockmarked, stands erect, and appears excited when spoken to; dark eyes, short thick nose, pale complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair; woie a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. DUBLIN CASTLE, 15th April, 1878.# • WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the mornipg of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown : his Grace, for the better apprehending and bring, ing to . justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six monthf from the date hereof, give such information as shal1 lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the afternoon of the 21 st August, 1879, the body of James Brosnan was found in a meadow near his own house, in the townland of Pilgrimhill, noar Listowel, in tho county of Kerry, murdered by some person or persons unknown : His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed to be Doyle, a native of county Louth, who stands charged with having, on the 11th September, 1879, in the barony of Magonihy, parish of Kilcummin and townland of Scrahanfadda, stolen a cow, the property of Catherine Clifford : —^ markably large head, slug- gish appearance, and iG^ Wike a tramp, drives cattle sometimes for jobbers^^ p recently worked as a navvy on the railway now being made near Listowel; was returning home, and will likely dispose of the cow on his way back; sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, and about 30 years of age; small brown whiskers meeting under chin. Description of the cow:— A red- coloured cow, with " hoobey" horns ( crooked and turned towards head), white spot on forehead, in calf, and not much larger than a " Kerry" cow ; valua for about £ 5 10s. DESCRIPTION of Michael Gillooly, native of Ballin- gally, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 8th September, 1879, at Ballinlough, in the barony of Small County, parish of Bailinlough, seriously assaulted Thomas Nihile with a loaded stick, fracturing his skull, thereby endangering his life:— Cut mark on bridge of nose, wears all his beard; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexiou, oval face stout make, 5 feet 8f inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Cogan, native of Bally- ragget, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, between the 20th August and 13th Septem- ber, 1 » 79, in the barony of Gallon, parish of Kilcon- duff, at Swinford, embezzled tho sum of £ i, A415j. 9d., the property of the Hibernian Joint- Stock Bank Directors :— Springs on toes in walking ; quiet de- meanour ; gray eyes, thin re-^ u'ar nose, fair com- plexion, long thin face, slender make, 5fee110 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark hat, short dark tweed coat, gra^ tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a teller in the Hibernian Bank. DUBLIN CASTLE, 9th September, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord. Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 12.15 o'clock, A. M., on the 25th ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq., was found dead on his own land at Johnsbrook, in the county of Meath, having been murdered by some person or persons unknown ; His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shal I lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same ; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result, By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Captain the Honorable T. O. Plunkett, the Resident Magistrate at Navan, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Procla- mation. DESCRIPTION of a watch, the property of the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, coumy Meath, esq„ stolen on the day vf his murder, 24th August, 1879:— gold hunting watch, three- quarter- plate Jeyer, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; " West and Son, Dublin, 4544,'' engraved upon the move- ment, and probably the name " West and Son'' also painted on the dial. This watch has been in wc » r since 1863, and can be identified. Athboy, Sept. 4, 1879. ( 23165 c.— 40181.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Deignan, native of Martins- town, Athboy, who stands charged with having, on the 30th August, 1879, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, received from his employer ( Owen Murtagh), 8 head of cattle ( value for about £ 1& 0), to sell in Manchester market and with having embezzled tho proceeds of the sale of said cattle Stooped shoulders generally canoed a brown frieze overcoat across his arm, and a long thin stiek in his band, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular faec, medium mako, fi feet 7 inches high, abewt 66 years of sge, dark hair turning gray; wore a large soft felt hat, frock coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is • a cattle jobber. DESCRIPTION of Mathew M'Nally. native of Castle- blayney, who stands charged with having, on the 11th [ September, 1879, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, stolen seven ducks from Margaret Callan, at Carrickmacross Market:— Has something wrong with one or both eyes, disspated appearance, gray eyes, broad nose, sallow complexion, broad face medium make, 5 feet 0 inches higli, about 4 8 years of age, gray hair: wore dark clothes ; buys fowl for larger fowl dealers at markets; he frequents markets, and will probably stop a quarter of a mile or so outside towns on market days, to buy or steal fowl from parties coming to markets or fairs. DESCRIPTION of John Fitzsimons, mother's surname Keaveny, native of Cloncraff, whi stands charged wiih having, on the lllth August, 1879, in the barony of ballintober North, parish of Kilglass, been one of a party who waylaid and assaulted Michael and James Doherty, of Liscolviu, on the public road at Moyglass :— Cheek bones a little prominent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a small round hat, common make s dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Edward Maher, native of Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 19th of Sep- tember, 1879, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Cordangan, seriously as? a< i) ted his sister, Winifred Maher, by striking her on the head, and fracturing her skull:— Blue eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 17 years of age, fair hair; wore a cap, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPIION of John Breen, native of Ayle, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of September, 1879, in the barory of Clanwilliam parish of Sollogheadmore, dangerously assaulted John Bradshawe, by striking him several times on the head wiih a shovel, from the effects of which his life is in danger:— heavy gait, gray eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, thm faco, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft black hat, black tweed coat, trowsers and vest'. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 10th September, 1879, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree :— James Keeffe or Carroll, 14^ 7. about 16 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches or 5 feet 3 inches high, very stout make, fair and freckled complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round and good- looking visage; formerly belonged to 57, Montgomery- street, Duolin, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong boots. Had a brother living in Whitefrar- street some time ago. Belongs to a family of comers. May have some other clothes with the above. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, it' arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17255 m.— 28898.)
