PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder John Leany, A. 1610, convicte1 at Dum Dum, Calcutta, 8th December, 1874 insubordination and violently resisting escort entenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 24 years of age on con- viction, is single, a labourer, born at Skreen, county Meath, formerly a soldier in 62nd Eegiment, slender build, oval visage, and 5 feet 8| inches high, scar on bridge of nose and right elbow, nose inclines to left side, mole on inside of right arm and on right breast. This convict was discharged from Portland Convict Prison, on 18th June, 1879, and reported himself to the Dublin Metropolitan Police, 26th June, 1879, and stated he was going to Skreen, county Meath. He reported himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary at Kilmoon, county Meath, 26th July, 1879, but not since, and his presont whereabou's are unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 6th section of the Act 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, September 11, 1879. ( 10331 a.— 28795.) PARTICULARS relative to English licence- holder James Doran, v. 874, convicted at Ramsey, Isle of Man, on 18th November, 1869, for bestiality, asd sentenced to 14 years penal servitude :— 18 years of age on conviction, single, a labourer, born in Ireland, resided before conviction in Ramsey ; dark brown hair, gray eyes, pale complexion, oval visage, propor- tionate make, 5 feet 6 inches high. This convict was discharged from Portsmouth Convict Prison, 19th June, 1879, on a special licence, and went to reside at Ramsey. He reported his arrival at Newry on the 1st ultimo, and left that place without notifying same to the Royal Irish Con- stabulary, and his present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, forged, and on the 26th day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for ^ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to Jpefraud, and failed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons to answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks his lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forward when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers; wore a brown hat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of John Lantry ( mother's surname Harten\ native of Derries, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish of Scrabby, at Salla- ghan, committed an affray, in which Edward Brady and Charles Mulligan were stabbed, and their lives endangered— see Hue- and- Cry dated 19th August, 1879 ( 23063 o.— 39811):— gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black cap, dark frieze coat, dark coid trowsers, dark frieze vest j is a farmer's son. Nicholas M'Connon ( robbery of money), not ar- rested; Hue- and- Cry, January 7, 1879. Clare. DUBLIN CASTLE, 4th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body ot James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS it . has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th'June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Curran and John Hayes, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 18th September, 1879, in the barony of Burren, parish of Kilmoon, been found loitering with intent to commit a felony, and giving an unsatis- factory account of themselves. It is believed that they have been guilty of offences elsewhere, and are remanded for eight days :— 1. Small mark of burn on pit of stomach, mark on left thigh near the hip, smart, active appearance, square shoulders, small fair moustache, no beard or whiskers, small pimples on face, blue eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8J inches high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; is a tramp; states he belongs to the Kilkenny Militia. 2. Wart on right arm near the wrist, rather long neck, smart appearance, speaks with rather a Northern accent, blue eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 17 years of age ; is a tramp. DESCrIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's name Considine), native of Kilmoon East, who stands charged with having, on tbe 28th August, 1879, at Kilmoon West, in the barony of Burren, parish of Kilmoon, seriously assaulted James Fla- herty, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life :— slightly pockmarked, stands erect, and appears excited when spoken to; dark eyes, short thick nose, pale complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on tht morning of Tuesday, the 3nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macker or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: Kis Grace, for the better apprehending and bring ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within sis months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. DESCRTPTION of three heifers and one bullock, the property of Patrick Galvin, which were stolen from the lands of Garraun, parish of Ballinakill, barony of Leitrim, on the night of the 7th or morning of the Htli September, 1879 :— 1. A two- year- old heifer, red and white ooloqr, short crooked horns, in good condition; value fpr £ 11. 2. A heifer, two years old, deep red colour, ho^ is rearly straight, white dash on face, and white tail, in good condition; value for .£ 10. 3. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, supposed to be Doyle, a native of county Louth, who stands charged with having, on the 1' tb September, 1879, in the barony of Megonihy, parish of Kilcummin and townland of Scrahanfadda, stolen a cow, the property of Catherine Clifford : — Remarkably large head, slug- gish appearance, and looks like a tramp, drives cattle sometimes for jobbers, and recently worked as a navvy on the railway now being made near Listowel; was returning home, and will likely dispose of the cow on his way back; sallow completion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, and about 30 years of age; small brown whiskers meeting under chin. Description of the cow :— • A red- coloured cow, with " hoobey" horns ( crooked and turned towards head), white spot on forehead, in calf, and not much larger than a " Kerry" cow ; value for about £ 5 10s. DESCRIPTION of James Loughnane, nativa of Killarney, who stands charged with having, on the 20th August, 1879. at Killarney, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Killarney, stolen a silver Geneva watch, the property of Private Thomas Drennan, 28th Regiment, which he ( Loughnane) pawned in Tralee:— Black whiskers and moustache, shaves chin, brown eyes, hooked nose, dark complexion, ordinary face, slender make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 88 years of age, looks older, dark hair;- wore a ] long black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. _ Is a tailor, and tramps from town to town. He left Listowel on 9th instant, and is supposed to hava gone towards Limerick. A warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Head Constable at Killaraey. Killarney, Sept. 2, 1879. M., on the 25tb ultimo, Thomas Tandy, Esq , was f und dead on his own land at Johnsbrook, in tbe coupty of Meath, having been murdered by som< j person pr persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murdap, is pleased hereby to offer a regard of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS tp any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the conviction of the person or persons who committed the same; and a reward pf ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall lead to the same result. Plunkett, the Resident Magistrate at Navan, to thpse who may become entitled to it under thp conditions of this Procla- mation. DESCRIPTION of a watch, the property pf the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, County Meath, esq., stolen on the day of his murder, 24th August, 1879:— gold hunting watch, three- quarter- plate lever, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; " West and Son, Dublin, 4544," engraved upon the move- ment, snd probably the name " West and Son'" also painted on the dial. This watch has been in wear since 1863, and can be identified. Athboy, Sept. 4, 1879. ( 23165 o— 40181.) DESCRIPTION of Mathew M'Nally. native of Castle- blajuey, who stands charged with having, on the llth September, 1879, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, stolen seven ducks from Margaret Callan, at Carrickmacross Market:— Has something wrong with one or both eyes, dissipated appearance, gray eyes, broad nose, sallow oomplexion, broad face,' medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 48 years of age, gray hair; wore dark clothes ; buys fowl for larger fowl dealers at markets; he frequents markets, and will probably stop a quarter of a mile or so outside towns on market days, to buy or steal fowl from parties coming to markets or fairs. DESCRIPTION of John Fitzsimons, mother's surname Keaveny, native of Cloncratf, who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1879, in the barony of Ballintober North, parish of Kilglass, been one of a party who waylaid and assaulted Michaol and James Doherty, of Liscolvin, on the public road at Moyglass :— Cheek bones a li'tle prominent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about qu years of age, dark brown hair j wor? a small round hat, common make; dark frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark twted vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Terence Scanlon ( mother's suf- name, Neary), native ef Sligo town, who stands charged with having, on the 13th September, 1879, ip the town of Sligo, in the barony of Carbury, parish of St. John's, assaulted his wife, Margaret Scanlon, by kicking her on the head, and inflicting two serious wounds, which endanger her life:— Little finger of right hand crooked, sm^^ Bit mark on forehead, brown eyes, regular nose, complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10£ inch^ ffigh, about 34 years of brown hair, wore a low felt hat, blue frock coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. DespRiPTioN of a person, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 4 th Sep- tember, 1879, at Aughris, in the barony of Tireragh, parish of Templeboy, been one of a party who entered the lodgings of James Cunningham, and dragged him out, cutting off part of his left ear, and firing shots outside house:— Straight nose, dark complexion, lorg face, very stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 30 years of age ; red hair, sandy beard on chin ; wore a soft blsck hat, old frieze coat. DtsspRipnoN of the undernamed young offender, who, on the ICth September, 1879, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree :— James Keeffe or Carroll, 1447, about 16 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches or 5 feet 3 inches high, very stout make, fair and freckled complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, roqnd and good- looking visage; formerly belonged to 57, Montgomery- street, Dublin, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong boots. Had a brother living in Whitefriar- street some time ago. Belongs to a family of coiners. May have some other clothes with the above. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17255 28898.)
