Stolen from the person at Turton Fair, Turton, between 6 and 7 p. m. on 4th instant : a gold centre seconds stop Watch, white dial, No. 94103. £ 2' reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the thief or thieves and recovery of the property. Information to Mr. Superintendent Holland, County Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow street, September 8. \ MURDER AMD MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found in the Bridgewater Canal at Lymm, Cheshire, on 5th instant : the dead body of a Man, naked all but a pair of cotton socks on feet, several cuts ou his head supposed to have been, inflicted before death. About 34 years . of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, sandy beard and moustache, and a little bald on tcp of head, Information to Mr. Superintendent Little, Altrincham, or to Sergeant Dutton, Lymm, Cheshire.— Bow- street, September 10. A man, unknown, was killed at Rawcliffe on 30th ultimo, and the coroner's jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against RICHARD BARNETT and FRED BARNET, who stand committed to take their trial on the coroner's warrant: the deceased was 22 years of age, 5 feet ( i inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in old black cloth coat, fustian vest with white bone buttons, old cotton cord trousers, blue cotton neckerchief with white spots, old brown cap, and blucher boots with brass eyelet holes. He is a tramping labourer, and goes by the name of Jack, Supposed to be a native of Buckinghamshire, in which county it has been stated his father works in a stone quarry. Absconded, charged on warrant with forgery: WILLIAM WALKER, alias REID, late of 4, Castfewood- road, Stamford- hill, 33 years of sge, 5 feet 7 inches high, hair, beard, whiskers and moustache ( cut close) light brown ; generally daessed in - tweed suit and high hat; a betting man. Information to Inspector McWilliam, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. C. — Bow- street, September 10. A man who gave the name of H. H. HUNT attempted to - obtain £ 370 from the Hull Banking Company by means of a forged Cheque, on 2nd instant, having forged the name of S. Wacholder, a jeweller, & c., at Hull : lie is about 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark hair, dark ginger whiskers and moustache, stout build, soft weak voice ; dressed in black coat and vest, dark trousers, aud low felt hat. A youug man whom he engaged as clerk the day previous was sent to the Bank with the Cheque. At his lodgings ( where he only stayed one night) were found envelopes addressed to Mr. T. L. Lynn, Wynn Side Mills, near Doncaster ; Messrs. Temple and Brooks, corn importers, 112, Water- street, Liverpool; Messrs. Warner, Hilbert, and Co., Lord- street, Liverpool; Mr. J. Hickman, seed crusher. Bow- lane, Leeds; and Mr. James Wentworth, Yorkshire Sack Hiring Company, Bow- lane, Leeds. He has in his possession another blank Cheque, No. 46930, on the Hull Banking Company which he may attempt to make use of. Warrant issued. Stolen from the person in Berwick- on- Tweed, ou 5tli instant : a gentleman's silver English lever Watch, No. 1008, a good deal worn, had steel Guard attached. Stolen from the person on 2ud instant, on Warwick Race Course : a silver English lever Watch, open face, owners name inscribed on works. Also at the Great Western Railway Station, Warwick, on 2nd instant : a silver English lever Watch, open face, minute hand slightly bent. Also on Warwick Race Course on 3rd instant: a gold lever Watch, fully jewelled, key square set in sapphire, plain white BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen at Bolton, during the night of 9th instant 4 meerschaum Pipes; 7 do. cigar Holders; 14 boxes of Cigars, some of the Boxes are marked " Parker's ' Knownsley Cigar" ; 1 briar- root Pipes and Cases ; 20 ditto without Cases ; 10 one shilling boxes of ' Moscow' Cigars. Deakin, confectioner, Bournbrook, Selly Oak, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a boy's hard felt Hat, new lady's white straw ditto, trimmed with a wreath of flowers and velvet: a silver Pencil- case ; a pocket Knife ; a Receipt; thirty- six Postage Stamps ; and about 12s. or 14s. in Silver and Bronze Coius. Spoons, 2 silver soup do., 1 sauce Ladle, silver, all marked with the crest— Olemi, boar rampant, with flowers in hoof and chained ; a silver lever Watch, has the name of ' John Johnson, Man- chester,' engraved on works, engine turned case, cream coloured dial, gold hands, in good condition, but wants clean- ing ; a gold Albert Guard, curb pattern, graduated, stamped 1 9- carat' on every link, has been newly washed with gold, had attached a triangular shaped topaz, which is fastened with a bolt ring ; a lady's fine gold Chain, two yards long, made in the form of a plait, of foreign manufacture ; a lady's gold Chain, common pattern, stamped ' 9- carat,' has been broken and tied with white cotton, several links broken; a lady's gold dress Ring, set with 4 rubies, has been enlarged, embossed round, the stones worn smooth ; a lady's gold dress Ring, set with 4 rubies, rather small size, and a garnet in centre, in good condition, stamped' 9- carat' inside ; an electro plated fish Knife and Fork, fluted ivory handles, dolphin pattern, has imitation of dolphins and birds nests on blade of knife near handle, and has the words ' Reading Brothers, makers, Birmingham,' also on blade of knife. Stolen in Salford, on the night of 2nd instant : a man's brown Overcoat, with brown bone buttons, lined sleeves with red material, three pockets outside ; a blaci corded Overcoat, lined with black, black bone buttons, two large, pockets and ticket pocket outside, one inside left breast; a man's grey- Scotch tweed Jacket, three large pockets and ticket pocket outside, brown lining, and black spotted bone buttons ; a. man's black, brown, and white mixture striped Coat, three large pockets and ticket pocket outside, and one inside right breast. Also on the night of 4th instant : a man's black, red and brown mixture Scotch tweed Coat, two pockets behind, one inside right breast, one outside left breast, brown horn buttons ( one off behind), brown lining, part worn. Stolen from the ' Full Measure 1 beerhouse, Driffield, by means of housebreaking, on the morning of 6th instant: a large white calico Sheet, a Blanket for a childs cott, and about 3 lb. of boiled Meat, and some pread. Supposed by harvesters. Information to Mr. Superintendent Harper, Driffield, Yorks. •— Bow- street, September 8. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen at Red Hill, Stourbridge, on the night of 2nd mstant: a black aged mare Pony, about 13 hands high, also a bay aged mare Pony, black points, about 13! hands high, slit in left ear. Two Guineas'reward will be paid by Mr. George Pearson, the owner of the ponies, to anv person giving information that will lead to the recovery of the ponies, aud conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to Mr. Superintendent Wheeler, Stourbridge, Worcestershire. — Bow- street, September 12. Further particulars respecting the grey mare Pony stolen at Yearsley Moor, near Easingwold, advertised in the Police Gazette of 25th ultimo. £ 5 reward will be paid by Jonah Henston, Yearsley, to any person or persons who will give such information as will lead to the recovery of the Pony and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsley, Northallerton, or to Inspector Nicholson, Constabulary Office, Thirsk, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, September 12. *, Stolen at Fenton, about lst instant; 2 shearling Ewes, marked with a dot of red paint on left hip. Information to Inspector Taylor, Lincoln.— Bow- street, September 10. Stolen on the night of 4th instant, from a field adjoining the Great North- road, North Muskham, Notts : 2 Mares, one a very dark brown, nearly thorough bred, very fresli, 8 years old, 14- J hands high, the hair on near side hock rallied from blister, collar mark on throat, cuts with both hiud legs, banr/ tail. The other a half- bred dark bay, 3 years old, about 14 hands high, rough mane, and bang tail. £ 5 reward will be paid by Mr. T. Knight, the owner, to . any person giviug information that will lead to the recovery of the mares and conviction of t! ie thieves. They have been traced to the Kiug's- cross Railway Station, London, and received by amah who sigued his name W. Infor- mation to the Deputy Chief Constable, County Police Office Stockport, Cheshire.— Bo"- street, September 12 Description of MARY DAWSON, of Market Rasen' clay pipe finisher, charged with larceny as a bailee of a scarlet wool Shawl or Crossover, with knotted fringe, looped up in two places behind and narrow at'the ends ; also with stealing • a child's white crochet Shetland wool Shawl, with red and white stripes at the border; and a pair of child's white wool knitted Socks : 26 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, light complexion, light brown hair, thin face, and rather high cheek bones ; - dressed in old black dt? ess, trimmed with velvet, velvet hat, and plaid shs, wl. She has a child about 0 months' old with her. Supposed to have gone to James Christian, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, haic, and moustache ; dressed in dark trousers and vest, long lapped dank coat, black billy hat bent in on the top. He is a tramping pipemaker, and has a travelling club card. Information to Mr. Superintendent Henson, Market Rasen, Lir colnsliire, who holds a warrant for her apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, September 12. Description of GEORGE PIERCE, accountant to the Widnes Local Board, who absconded about 14th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzling ,£ 100: he is about 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, turning grey, large sandy whiskers and moustache, slightly bow legged, of gentlemanly appearance and good address; generally wears a black cloth dress coat, dark trousers and vest, and hard felt Iiat. His mother resides at Ashton- under- Lyne. Information to Mr. Superintendent Brindle, County Police Offioe, Prescot, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 10. Stolen, at Fillingham on 6th instant, between 6 a. m. and 7 p. m. : a white linen Shirt, pleated front, and has had buttons on each wristband; au huckaback Towel with red stripes at each end, 2 inches from the fringe ; and a Pocket- handkerchief, with white spots tke size of a threepenny piece. Supposed by two Irish labourers, one about 5 feet 5 or 6 ins. high, ID or 20 years of age, faee fawn- freckled, wearing a white slop and cord trousers ; the other from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, wearing a cap and dark slop. Information to Inspector Taylor, Lincoln.— Bow- street, September 10. Stolen at Stockport, about 3 p. m. on 8th instant: a lady's small gold Geneva Watch, size 8, gold dial and hands, blue enamel on back of outer case, had attached a long gold Chain, curb pattern. By a man who obtained lodgings by stating ha was employed by the London and North Western Railway Company, which is false : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark eyes, black hair, brushed smooth, fresh complexion, full round face, black whiskers, shaved on cliin and throat, black moustache, and hangs down his head when walking ; dressed in blue serge or flannel loose fitting jacket, light plaid trousers with black stripes down sides, light blue necktie with blue stripes, white cutis, tall hard billycock hat; he speaks with a foreign accent, aud states he was born in Jersey ; lie is wanted at Bolton and other places for similar offences. luformation to Chief Constable Staples, Stockport. — Bow- street, September 10. Wanted on a Sherriff's warrant, on a charge of embezzle- ment : WILLIAM KENNEDY, a confectioner's traveller, about 40 years of age, 6 feet high, slender build, fair hair, whiskers, beard, and moustache, speaks with English accent, walks bent and smart;. dressed generally in a dark surtout coat, dark vest and trousers, and silk liat. Was in Carlisle on 30th ultimo, and is supposed to have made for a shipping port with a view to go abroad. He may be accompanied by a female. Enquire at shipping offices and brothels. Infor- mation to Chief Constable M'Gall, Glasgow.— Bow- street, September 10. Absconded from Luton, on the morning of 9tli instant, charged with stealing Flour: WILLIAM ALLEN, about 48 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and whiskers, and stout build ; dressed as a miller. Information to Head Constable Jaquest, Borough Police, Luton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 10. Stolen from Little Cowden, on 6th instant : a pair of clastic- side Boots, newly soled ; a black velvet Vest, single- breasted ; a pair of dark striped moleskin Trousers, mended at knees ; 4 woollen Scarves, one ' red and white, the others red, white, and blue : 2 pairs of grey worsted Stockings, marked with the letters ' G. N.'; a Shilling, ?. nd some Coppers in money. By a native of Little Walsingham, Norfolk, about 16 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, a farm servant; dressed in a dark grey cloth suit, blue woollen cap, peak of the same material. Information to Mr. Superintendent Burniston, Eke, Sproatley, Yorkshire,— Bow- street, Sept. 10. Stolen at Newchurch, between 10' 30 p. m., 7th, and 8 a. m. 8th instant: a tin Cashbox, about 7 inches long, 3 inches broad, and inches deep, containing i,' 6 in Gold, 9s. silver, a gold albert Guard, a, gold plated hoop King, 2 Scrips of the . Rossendale Industrial Company, Limited, a quantity of private Statements belonging to the Bradford No. 3 Building Society, and a number of other private Letters. By a man who lodged in the house since 5th instant, and left about 7 a. m. 8th inst., about CO years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh com- plexion, grey hair and whiskers, no moustache; dressed in dark coat and vest, dark mixture treusers, lace- up boots, and brown soft hat. Stated he was a twister, - and had got work at a mill in the neighbourhood. Was seen at Newchurch Railway Station at 8 a. m., and is supposed to have left for Bury or Manchester. Stolen from a kitchen at Milnsbridge, between 11 p. m. 6th, and 7 a. m. 7th instant : 1 hassling table Clotli new; 1 woollen Shirt, pink stripes .; 1 blue linen Smock, man's size, with pocket on left side outside.; 1 pair of men's grey ribbed Stockings ; 4 children's brown . hdtland, and 1 blue striped Pinafores ; 2 harden and 1 bluo linen Aprons, all in an unwashed state. CLARK, alias HENRY and ALFRED GRAHAM, alias JOHN WARD, alias JAMES DAVIDSON, alias WILLIAM EDWARDS, & c., charged with attempted fraud : a commer- cial traveller, and clerk, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, fair complexion, oval face, small moutt), straight nose, brown hair, two teeth deficient in upper jaw ( one front one left side); he was convicted at the Central Criminal Court in 1872, for forgery, and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, and at Monaghan in February, 1875, for obtaining money by false pretences, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, and is at present on licence, his description was circulated in Police Gazette of 4th July last, but he has not been apprehended, and still continues his practices viz.— he pretends he is a naval officer and the shipmate on a certain vessel of the officer addressed, and alleges that his brother- in- law or other relation has died, leaving him in financial embarrassment, and prays a temporary loan to be transmitted by post office order, to a rural post office, whence he arranges that the letters shall be re- addressed.
