As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. G Division, PARTICULARS relative to convict James Durnin, 3711, convicted at Strabane, county Tyrone, at Trinity Sessions, on 27th June, 1878, for larceny and subsequent fe'ony, and sentenced to 7 years' ponal servitude:— 50 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, singl « , a labourer, born in Dromore, county Tyrone, resided before conviction in Strabane; fair hair, mixed with gray, and bald on crown; gray eyes, fair eyebrows, long nose, ordinary mouth, sallow complexion, long visage, stout make, 6 feet 8$ inches high. This convict was discharged from Lusk Convict Prison, 8th August, 1879, on an order of Licence. He has failed to report himself to the Royal Irish Constabulary at Duleek, and his present whereabouts are unknown. DESCRIPTION of John M'Alister, native of Sheltin Park, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of June, 1878, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Loughguile, forged, and on the 26th day of June, 1878, uttered a certain promissory note for £ 95, knowing the same to be forged, with intent to defraud, and lailed to appear at Dervock Petty Sessions, on 2nd September, 1879, on summons to answer to the charge:— Speaks very politely, smacks his lips while talking, bald on top of head, slightly round shoulders, leans a little forward when walking, high cheek bones and sunken jaws, blue eyes, long drooped nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium mako 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray, small whiskers ; wore a brown bat, long blue pilot coat with outside pockets, check tVowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of John Lantry ( mother's surname Harten\ native of Derries, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish of Scrabby, at Salla- ghan, committed an affray, in which Edward Brady and Charles Mulligan were stabbed, and their lives endangered— see Hue and- Cry dated 19th August, 1879 ( 28053 o.— 39811): — gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, dark frit ze coat, dark cord trowsers, dark frieze vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Briody ( mother's name Mary Coyle), Thomas Donahoe ( mother's name Mary Donahoe), natives of Lisney, and Thomas Lantry ( mother's name Mary Brady), native of Derries, who stand charged with having, on the 15 th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish of Scrabby, at Sallaghan, committed an affray in which Edward Brady and Charles Mulligan were stabbed and their lives endangered :— 1. Daniel Briody — Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, five feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of sge, dark hair; wore a cap, bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest ; is a shoe- maker. . 2. Thomas Donahoe— Hazel eyes, hooked nose, red complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair; wore a black hat, frieze coat, black tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 3. Thomas Lantry— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 yeais of age, fair hair; wore a soft hat, black tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a farmer's son. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 23nd ultimo, the body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, ia the parish of Killilagh, and county of C are, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's name Considine), native of Kilmoon East, who stands charged with having, on the 28th August, 187^, at Kilmoon West, in the barony of Burren, parish of Kilmoon, seriously assaulted James Fla- herty, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life :— slightly pockmarked, stands erect, and appears excite ! when spoken to; dark eyes, short thick nose, pale complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest; is 9, farmer's SOD* Ballyvaughan, August 30, 1879. Cork, DESCRIPTION of John Keating ( mother's surname Herlihy), native cf Glanagoul, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1879, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Rathcormac, assaulted James Barry, by inflicting wounds upon his head and face with a penknife :— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, fair complexion, broad full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 88 years of age, light brown hair; wore a felt hat, black frock coat, black trowsers, and vest— clothing of American make; is a farmer, lately returned from America. Jeremiah O'Donnell ( assault and robbery), not arrested ; Hue- and- Cry, 18th February, 1879. " Donegal, DUBLIN CASTLE, 16th April, 1878. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macker or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: Eis Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of tie persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. Peel, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Letterkenny. to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions ot this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of a woman, who gave her name as Casey, supposed native of Navan, who stands charged with having, on or about tbe 30th day of Augus', 1* 79, in the barony of Balrothery East, parish of Balrothery, stolen a purse, and the sum of £ 7 IPs., viz., one bank note, one sovereign, three half sovereigns, and remainder in silver; and also with having obtained by fraud and false pretences a sh. wl:— A slight mark en forefinger, but on wlich ot the hands could not be ascertained; hazel eyes, sharp nose, sallow and freckled complexion, small face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 81 years of age, dark hair; wore a new brown hat, i oun I with brown velvet, dark muslin dress, dark gray Ulster cloak, much worn, old elastic bouts, and a small old pattern brooch. Stated she is a sempstress. She carries a baby about a month old in her arms. Description of property:— A red leather purse, with brass and silver- coloured clasps; a dark gray shawl, with black border and black and white fringe, a piece of which is off one of the corners. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 18th August, 1879, absconded from the Reheboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— James Ireland ( 181), 14 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, pretty large mouth, round and roogh- lookiog visage, several marks of Indian ink on his arms ; formerly belonged to Belfast; ran away from the " Gibraltar " Training Ship in May. last; parents reside at 6, Barnes- court, off Curtis- street, Belfast. School dress— Light cord jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled Blucher boots, Scotch pattern cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks, leather belt. This boy will likely make fir Belfast by boat or otherwise. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17024 m.— 28502). DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who on the 18th August, 1879, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin :— Augustus O'Brien ( 164), 15 years of age, 4 feet high, pretty stout make, pale complexion, black hair, back eyes, broad and flat nose, round visage, mark of a cut on left cheek at side of nose ; formerly belonged to Dublin city ; parents both deid ; ran away from Blackrock Industrial School, about 2 years ago. School dress— Light cord jacket, trowsers, and vest with calico sleeves, buckled Blucber boots, Scotch pattern cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks, leather belt. This boy will likely make for Kingstown or Bray, as he knows those localities very well. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17024 M.— 28502.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Rice, native of Crough- croneen, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 22nd August, 1879, in the barony of Clanmaurice, parish of Dysert tin company with John Connell, who has been arrested), waylaid and assaulted John Connell and John Moloney, of Liscullane, thereby placing the life of John Connell in danger :— Fresh cut mark on chin, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 or 11 iuches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft jim- crow hat, black cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Private George M'Taggart, 21st Regiment ( robbery of jewellery and clothing), not arrested: Hue- and- Cry December 31, 1878. Kilkenny. DESCRIPTION of John Shanahan, native of Carrick- on- Suir, county Tipperary, and Julia Murphy, native of Cork, who stand charged with, having, in the beginning of August, last, in the barony of fsfells, parish of Kells, stolen an ass, the property'Of Thomas Quinn, of. Goodwin's garden, which he after- wards sold at Borris fair, on the 15th of August, 1879, to Donald Donovan, of Hacketstown, county Carlow, The ass has since been recovered :— Walks erectly, heavy eyelids, short sandy whiskers and mous- tache, wild gray eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, sandy hair; wore a felt hat, long gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers. Attends fairs, and drives cattle occasionally. Was convicted in 1876 of cattle stealing, and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. Was accompanied when last seen by the woman ft escribed below. Description of the woman, dark eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 30 years of age, datk hair ; wore an old faded shawl, dark dress, spring- side boots, no bonnet or hat: has a husky voice; is a prostitute. DESCRIPTION of the unker- named young offender, who, on the 5th September, 1879, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County : — William Atcheson ( 45R), 18 years old, 6 feet 1 inch high, very awkward stout make, sallow complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, very broad cocked nose, large mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Nawry, county Down; his parents reside at Church- street, Newry; mark of burn on left wrist. The school dress, all with Reformatory" stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers. vest, and jacket, leather b it, Scotch cap, strong nailed boots. DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 5th September, 1879, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, King's County :— John Morgan ( 167), 17 years old, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout awkward make, brown sallow complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, flat nose, large mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Newry, county Down ; his parents reside at Chapel- street, Newry; has a jnole uader right eye. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Corduroy trowsers, - test, and jacket, leather belt, Scotch cap, st- ong nailed boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenss of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remanl, an! will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Gilmore ( mother's name, Catherine Kenny), native of Carrowrory, Cashel, who stands charged with having, oa the 30th August, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, ^ passed a forged cheque td Patrick Keegan, and endorsed same, on which forged cheque he obtained £ 10:— Walks with a slight swagger, smirt appear- ance, good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 98 years of age, black hair, small dark whiskers, Urge black moustache, small imperial on chin, ho is not likely to shave; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, bit generally wears dark clothes; be has plenty of clothes, so he may be dressed any way. DESCRIPTION of a watch, tbe property of the late Thomas Tandy, of Johnsbrook, couniy Meath, esq., stohn on the day if his murder, 24th August, 1879:—— gold hunting watch, three- quarter- plate lever, with enamel dial, and engine- turned cases; " West and Son, Dublin, 4544," engraved upon the move- ment, imd probably the name West and Son'" also painted on the dial.
