THE Police Gazette, OR Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. _ All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- Goneral. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. WANTED here, charged with causing the death of his wife, sometime during the night of the 15th instant:— Hugh M'Cann, a labourer, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches h'gh', stout build, thin face, fresh complexion, small tuft of sandy hair oa chin, very small moustache. Dressed when last seen in a faded blue linen jacket, dirty moleskin trowsers, and slouched cap. Is a native of Kilkeel, county Down, Ireland, where his relatives reside. Please cause immediate inquiry at shipping offices, lodging houses, and all likely places, and if found, arrest, and communicate with GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. WHEREAS . it has been represented to the Lord, Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, tbe body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The abovo reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DUBLIN CASTLE, 14th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, in the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of O N E H U N D R E D P O U N DS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. DESCRIPTION of Michael M'Namara ( mother's name Considine), native of Kilmoon East, who stands charged with having, on the 2bth August, 1870, at Kilmoon West, in the barony of Burren, parish of Kilmoon, seriously assaulted James Fla- herty, by striking him ou the head with a stone, thereby endangering his life slightly pockmarked, stands erect, and appears excite > when spoken to; dark eyes, i- hort thick nose, pale complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abmt 23 years of age, dark brown hair; wo e a | erry hat, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vett; is a farmer's son. DUBLIN CASTLE, 15th April, 1878. WHEBEAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1879 lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of thorn. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. The above reward will be paid by Edmund Y, Peel, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Letterkenny, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of a woman, who gave her name as Casey, supposed native of Navan, who stands charged with having, on or about the 80th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Balrothery East, parish of Balrothery, stolen a purs8, and the sum of £ 7 18 « ., viz., one bank note, one sovereign, three half sovereigns, and remainder in silver; and also with paving obtained by fraud and false pretences a shawl:— A slight mark on forefinger, but on which of the hands could not be ascertained; hazel eyes, 6harp nose, sallow and freckled complexion, small face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 81 years of age, dark hair; wore a new brown hat, bound with brown velvet, dark muslin dress, dark gray Ulster cloak, much worn, old elastic bo> ts, and a small old pattern brooch. Stated she is a sempstress. She carries a baby about a month old in her arms. Description of property:— A red leather purse, with brass and silver- coloured clasps; a dark gray shawl, with black border and black and white fringe, a piece of which is off one of the corners. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 18th August, 1879, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— James Ireland ( 181), 14 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, pretty large moulh. round and rough- looking visage, several marks of Indian ink on his arms ; formerly belonged to Belfast: ran away from the " Gibraltar " Training Ship in May. last; parents reside at 0, Barnes- court, off Curtis- street, Belfast. School dress— Light cord jacket, trowsers, and test, buckled Blucher boots, Scotch pattern cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks, leather belt. This boy will likely make for Belfast by boat or otherwise. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. ( 17024 M.— 28502). School dress— Eight cord jacket, trowsers, and vest with calico sleeves, buckled Bhicher boots, Scotch pattern cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks, leather bolt. This boy will likely make for Kingstown or Bray, as he knows those localities very well. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest justice, on remand, and will rewaid the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17024 m.— 28502.)
