Between 11 p. m. on 23rd and 7 a. m. on 25th instant, an Auction Room, at Lincoln, was entered and stolen ( herefrom : 31 Waltham silver lever Watches, Nos. 1002179,1008344, 1008345,' 1008346, 1008414, 1008415, 1035898, INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. On 16th instant, two forged Cheques amounting to £ 160 were casl ed at the Brighton branch ot the London and County Bank ; 1 y means of a forged order, a cheque Book containing • 50 Cheques, each Cheque being numbered S— 60632, was • obtained, and then boys from the street were sent into the bank to obtain cash for the Cheques. The fraud is supposed to have been committed by a man who, in February last, defrauded another bank in Brighton in a similar manner : . he is about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, . small features, small sandy whiskers, face slightly freckled; dressed in a light suit of clothes, and bard black felt hat. Stolen from the person at Belle Vue Gardens, about 9.15 p. m., on 23rd'instant : a gold verge Watch, converted into an iin'< dish Lever, gold dial, engine- turned cases, maker's names ' Hampson and Thelwell, Manchester.' £ 2 reward will be paid for the apprehension of the thief or thieves and recovery of the property. Stolen about 9 p. m. on 23rd ultimo, from the shop win dow of Peter Borden, pawnbroker, Kettering, by breaking a pane of glass : about 20 wedding Rings, plain ; 6 or 7 signet Rings, one broken ; a lady's box Ring, set with pearls, hair in centre, and glass cracked; a hair Keeper, hair and gold twisted in ; and 3 or 4 other Keepers. Supposed by a man 30 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark com- plexion, with some whiskers, and appeared to carry his head u little on one side, supposed left ; dressed in dark grey suit, and was carrying a light overcoat or mackintosh over left arm, which he occasionally put on. Between 12' 30 a. m. and 6 a m. on 25th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Hustler, of Clayton, was entered and stolen therein : 1 brown Overcoat, lined with brown plaid, horn buttons, four poekets outside ; 1 mixture body Coat and Vest, light brown lining, and horn buttons ; 1 brown cardigan Jacket, man's size; 1 lady's black cloth Jacket, trimmed with fur, two pockets outside; 1 brown silk Umbrella, silver mounted ; 1 pair lady's elastic- side Boots, nearly new ; 1 pair small Boots, buttoned up the side ; 2 sets of window Shades, striped pattern ; 3 Blankets ; 3 pairs of Sheets, twilled cotton ; 6 table Spoons, silver plated ; 12 silver Teaspoons ; 12 dessert Forks and 12 dinner Forks, silver- plated ; 1 Box or lady's crochet Workbox. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders,' and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Ashton- under- Lyne, during the- night of 25th, or morning of 26th instant : a pair of lady's elastic- side kid Boots, patent toe caps, and low heels, been worn twice ; a pair of lady's elastic side Boots, patent toe caps, high heels, with irou tips, part worn; and an old rough dirty Towel. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Crosland, between 11 p. m. 20th and 6 a. m. 21st instant : a threepenny Piece, and a pair of elastic- side Boots, man's size, newly soled, brass nails at the bottom. Information to Mr. Superintendent Goodall, West Riding Constabulary, Huddersfleld.— Bow- st., August 25. Stolen from a dwelling house at Netherton, between 11 p. m. 20th, aud 5 a. m. 21st instant: a lady's gold lever Watcli with flowered back, ' gold face, black figures, steel bands, 110 seconds hand, had attached a gent's gold albert Guard with plain links, rather massive ; a brownish leather Purse, with brass clasps, containing 2 Sovereigns, and one half Sovereign ; a lady's gold dress Ring with two garnets and two opals ( one of the latter out) ; also a red silk Hand- kerchief, with chintz coloured border. A short man was seen in the bedroom at about 4' 45 a. m. 21st instant; dressed in dark clothes, bdlycock hat, and white collar. Committed for trial at the quarter sessions at the Castle of Exeter, Devon, oil 15th October t ext, charged with house- breaking at Dawlisli ou 14th instant: JOHN DAVIES, a sailor, native of Conway, 34 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, sandy whiskers, beard, and moustache, old cut mark under left eye, second finger of right hand deformed,' part of the first joint having been out off by an accident; dressed in brown cloth coat a ud vest, dark grey cloth, trousers, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots, all very much worn. The grey mare Pony, & c., stolen from a stable at Bolton, advertised in Police Gazette of 20th ultimo, have been found. — Bow- street, September 1. Stolen from a field at Thame, Oxon, on 29tli ultimo : a a bay Mare, aged, white hind legs, blaze in face, and lame in fore feet. Stolen from a field adjoining Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich, during the night of 24th instaDt : 3 black faced wether Sheep, and 3 black faced Lambs, each raidle marked on near shoulder and off hip; the property of Mr. Thomas Lloyd, West Bromwich. £ 3 3s. reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender. Information to Mr. Superinten- dent Woollaston, Police Station, West Bromwich, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, August 29. The horse stolen from Godalming, advertised in tlio Police Gazette of 8th and 25th instant, has been recovered at Epping, Essex, and a man is wanted for stealing the same : about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light Com- plexion, without whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes, and soft billycock hat. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Barker, Guildford, Surrey.— Bow- st., August 29. Stolen on 21st instant, from a meadow at Dulwich : a valuable light chesnut Horse, 15 hands 1 inch high, chestnut mane and tail, face and hind legs white, stout build, recently- blistered, passed toll at St. Albans on 22nd instant, towards Dunstable, in large spring cart, ' William Johnson, Dealer, Dunstable,' on side, driven by three men; 1st, 40 years of age, 6 feet Jiigb, stout build, the others, 30 years of age, short, all wore billycock bats, bad the appearance of low horse copers. — Metropolitan Police, P . Division, August 27. Stolen from an orchard at East Mailing, on 1st instant, a Kent ewe Sheep, ' Ii. M.' in pitch ou near Shoulder, her lambs were taken from her the day previous ; the property of Mr. Robert Mercer. Also stolen, on 19th instant, at Ryarsh, a large fawn- colour mastiff Dog, two years old, answers to ' Nelson'; the property of Jeremiah Fremlin. A warrant has been issued for ARTHUR FRITH, who was seen at Boro- green, Wrotham, going towards Loudon the same day with the dog in his possession : he is 21 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion and hair, slight moustache and whiskers, genteel appearance, and well educated ; dressed in a straw liat, with black band, black coat, bound with braid, and light mixture cloth trousers and vest of the same material. Ha resided until lately at 5, Cambridge- villas, Turnham- green, Gunnersbury, and kept a preparatory school for young gentlemen. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hulse, Kent Constabulary, West Mailing, who holds the warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, August 27. Obtained by fraud ou 15th instant : a chesnut Gelding, 14 hands high, ' W' clipped on neck. By a matt, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair, sharp nose, slight' build ; 1 dressed in dark clothes, hard felt hat. He purchased tL<. e Horse at an auction, and paid for it - with four £ 5 notes on the " Wiltshire and Dorset Banking Company, Bristol, since found to be forgeries.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, Auqwst 25. Stolen from a field at Yearsley Moor, near Easingwold, during the night of 17th instant : a grey mare Pony, 7 years old, about 14 hands high, thick mane and tail, the latter cut square, in good condition, is quiet to ride and drive ;. value £ 35. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsly, or to Inspector Nicholson, North Biding Constabulary, Thirsk.— Bow- street, August 25. LAECEIY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a field at Kerry, on 23rd ultimo : a brown twill slop Jacket, nearly new ; a grey cloth Coat, half worn, cuffs bound with black braid, two pockets on hips and one inside left bieast, pearl buttons same colour as coat. Sppposed by a tramp, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout build, full dark sandy whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes, and wears strings tied round his legs below knees. He attends fairs and auctions as a drover. He is the same man as describeu in the Police Gazette of 25th June last, suspected of house- breaking at Worthin, Salop. He is known in Salop and Herefordshire. Information to the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Police Constable Tanner, Kerry, Montgomery- shire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Ryde, on 25th ultimo : a dark tweed Coat, Yest, and Trousers, metal Guard and Locket, also 4s. 6d. in Silver. By a man named FREDERICK PIERCEY, a mariner, 22 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark complexion and hair ( cut short), star inside left wrist, large wart under right thumb ; he has been previously convicted of felony. Information to Mr. Superintendent Burt, Police Office, Ryde, Isle of Wight, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen from Lockerbie, on 28th ultimo : a double- cased silver lever Watch, No. 47576, capped and jewelled in six holes, white chaptered dial, gold spade hands, sunk seconds, and not much worn, and attached a silver guard Chain ; a double- cased silver verge Watch, No. 4375, yellow hands, cream- coloured chaptered dial, attached a yellow metal Albert Chain, of snake pattern. Supposed by a man from 20 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high or thereabouts, brown hair, no whiskers, round face, and stout make ; dressed in dark or brown tweed reefer jacket, dark or brown tweed trousers, green and black checked cravat, black felt hat, and fine boots or Shoes. Absconded on 22nd ultimo, charged with stealing a lady's gold Necklace, single row of pearls, one large ( mounted in gold to form a snap) ; 2 small pearl necklaces, two rows each ; 1 five row Ditto ; a parcel of loose Rubies, 27i carats, djop shape ; 4 catseye stones, coloured ; a gold enamelled Brooch set with onyx : MEYER BEENBAUM, an Austrian, traveller, 38 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion hair and moustache black, whiskers ( long) black ; dress, Ions black overcoat, with velvet collar, and hip pockets, light trousers, high black hat, side- spring boots. Wairant issued. — Metropolitan. Police, G Division, September 1. Description of a man giving the name of GEORGE WILLIAMS, charged with stealing from a public- house in Nottingham, a lady's gold Geneva Watch, maker Baskertield. Leek, Staffords- hire ; a silver, hunting Watch, gold Albert Guard attached, belcher pattern, gold Locket attached, which is half brot en off : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brown hair, sallow complexion, no whiskers, slight moustache ; dressed in a suit of dark grey, jacket coat. He said he was a detective from Great Scotland- yard, and that he was making an enquiry about a robbery on the Great Northern Railway, he left a card with the address of Lower Park, Loughton, Essex. Information to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen from a middle class lodging house in Bolton' about 5 ' 30 a. m. on 30th ultimo : a gold Russian lever hunting Watch, No. 57.995, has the name ' Ancre, & c.' on back of inner cise, and ' A. N. L.' engraved on outside case, glass cracked and hour finger broken, and stamped 14 carat; had attached a 14 carat gold albert Chain, to which was appended a Seal with bloodstone on one side, and red on the other, stamped 10 carat; also about £ 6 4s. in Gold and Silver; one five- franc Piece ; and one German five Pfennig Piece. By a man who speaks with a foreign accent, and said he was born in Jersey in October, 1843, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, very fresh complexion, dark eyes, black hair brushed very smooth, full round face, black whiskers, shaved on chin and throat, black moustache, hangs his head down when walking ; dressed in dark sle.- ved waistcoat, dark brown eord trousers, such as those worn by railway porters, light blue necktie with blue stripes thereou, white cuffs, aud rather tall hard black billycock hat. Stated he was a foreman at the Railway Goods Department. £ 1 reward will be paid by the owner for such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender, and a further sum of £ 1 for the recovery of the property, or in proportion thereof. Informa- tion to Chief Constable Holgate, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen on 28th ultimo, from No. 33, Church- street, St. Ebbe, Oxford : a pair of elastic- side Boots, buff tops blacked over; also a pair of long gold Ear- rings, knob at top and loose drop in centre. By a lodger, a stage scene painter, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, very florid com- plexion, hair cut short, dark moustache, cheeks and chin clean shaved ; dressed in a snuff- coloured suit of clothes, and hard felt hat. Has lost first joint of forefinger of one hand. Was seen leaving Oxford at 3 p. m. same day in the direction of Reading and London. Information to Head Constable Head, Oxford.— Bow- street, September 1. Description of JOHN POLLARD, charged on warrant with stealing from Isaac Joel, at Brighton, on 26th instant, a gold English lever Watch, maker ' Boxall,' double case, seconds hands broken oft ; attached was a thick gold Albert Guard and a Seal, with reversible stones ; also about £ 30 in Gold, and £ 5 or £ 6 in Silver. He is 24 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers, small brown moustache with curl at ends, large framed, and bow- legged ; dressed in blue serge coat, tight trousers, and black felt hat. He is supposed to have gone to London, where he will frequent music halls. Information to Chief Constable Barndon, Brighton.— Bow- st., Aug. 29. Description of HENRY JUPP, charged on warrant with embezzling Money belonging to his master, Samuel Harmes, fishmonger, at Worthing : he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, florid complexion, browh hair, whiskers and moustache, thin figure, and very active; dressed in black jacket, grey vest and trousers, and black soft felt hat. Has been employed at fishmongers' shops at Brighton and Wimbledon, and is known in Billingsgate Market. In- formation to Mr. Superintendent Silvester, West Sussex Constabulary, Worthing.— Bow- street, Auguti 29. Absconded, embezzling £ 9 17s. at Tipton, on 20th inst. : ALBERT MONTAGUE BROOM, a railway clerk, 29 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, pa e complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, slender build, has a nervous appearance, walks very erect. A warrant for his apprehen- sion is held by Inspector Harrison, Police Office, Tipton, to whom information should be sent, or to Mr. Superintendent Holland, Police Office, Wednesbury, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 29. Stolen on the afternoon of 26th instant, from a bedroom at Dover : a ladies gold geneva Watch, embossed face, short gold Chain, and Pencil Case with white stone attached; a sifver Watch, with gold Albert Chain attached ; by a woman, about 40 years of age, stoutisli build, medium height, slightly pockpitted, pale complexion, spoke with Welsh accent; dressed iu grey costume, black silk jacket, black straw hat with black feather aud white rosette, is connected with low racing men Information to Mr. Superintendent Sanders, Boro Police Office, Dover.— Bow- street, August 29. Absconded from Banbury, charged on a warrant with embezzling 17s. lOd. on 23rd instant : CHAS.
