WANTED here, under warrant for embezzling £ 25 belonging to the Guardians of the Prescot Union :— Arthur Fowler, Relieving Officer of ihe township of Widnes, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches hiifh, sallow complexion, and brown hai , nearly black, parted dowu the middle; dark whiskers and mous- tache. rather thin; lost one or two upper teeih. left si fe; thin features, long nose, slender 1 uild, walks very erect with a short quick step, generally carries a walking stick, and has a peculiar way of swinging it by his side, and knocking it rn the ground every few yards as he passes along. Booked at Farnworth Railway Station, on Friday last, by the 1- 20 p. m. train, to the Central Station, Liverpool. He was then dressed in a gray mixture cloth suit, monkey jacket, without laps, two pockets outs'de without flaps, and one outside left breast; a low black hard felt hat, and supposed slender lace- up boots. He has been in the Lancashire Constabulary, stationed » t Ormskirk. He will no doubt endeavour to leave the country. C.," a gentleman's photograph and two pieces of hair inside; 1 small old- fashioned gold heart- shaped locket, with raised turquoise forget- me- not one side and hair on the other; 1 small gold locket with turquoise in centre hair on the other side ; a gold chain, snake pattern, for locket or necklace ; 1 thin fine- gold loeket chain ; a two chain gold bracelet with snaps ; 1 Indian butterfly brooch, gold filigree, set with aqua- marines and small rubies ; 1 small round gold brooch, with single pearl and blue enamel, about size of a penny, hair on under side ; 1 oval gold brooch, band of blue onamel with pearls across, oval piece in centre, opens with a snap for photograph or hair; 1 old- fashioned gold brooch, set with large pink topazes, it has three drops, each with one oblong topaz, and three more of squarish shape in the brooch itself, and has a hook set with a smaller topaz so that it could be worn as a locket; 1 large old- fashioned cameo brooch set in worked gold, subject on cameo Thorwaldsius' " Spring," a fe- male figure scattering flowers and carrying a child on its back ; 1 largo cameo brooch set in modern plain gold with raised gold filigree work on it, subject of cameo Minerva's head in helmet, has a ring so that it could bo worn as a locket; 1 round garnet brooch ; 1 foreign brooch with head cut in amethyst covered with glass; 1 broad gold band bracelet set with three large onyx; 1 narrow gold band bracelet round centre with a single carbuncle ruby, and has a place for hair behind ; 1 plain gold band bracelet with gold buckle; 1 worked gold band bracelet; 1 gold cord knotted bracelet, with two gold tassels; 1 hair bracelet, wiih gold clasp, no snap, but made to slip over hand ; fivo of the bracelets are stiff at hinge and snap; 2 strings of small red coral beads, with gold snaps for a baby's sleeve ; 1 coral necklace, without snap, made of se veral strings of little bits of rough red coral; 1 pair of Turkish imitation gold sleeve links; 1 scarf pin, painted fox's head set in oval jet; 1 Milner's safe key, C. E., 135, 545 ; three gold studs, each set with a small emerald; 3 black onyx studs, with gold setting and mother- of- pearl backs; 1 gent's gold mourning ring, black enamel, with one diamond, supposed inscription,' ". In Memory of Sir George Goodman," and a date; 1 gold oval scarf ring, set with very small garnet; 1 old- fashioned silver snuff box, has shooting scenes engraved on both sides; 1 green beetle scarf pin, the back set in gold oval hoop ; 1 scarf pin, garnet set in pearls ; 1 length of rich black silk for a dress; 1 length of bright blue silk Irish poplin; a small kettle holder, grounded with red'and worked in flowers. The above P d will be paid by the Owner for the apprehension ana conviction of the thief or thieves, and recovery of the stolen property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, or for such information as shall lead to a like result. Pawnbrokers, jewellers, and others are earnestly re- quested to examine their stocks, and should any of the above articles be offered for sale or pledge, to detain the person so offering and immediately communicate with the nearest Police Station, or CHIEF INSPECTOR NORTCLIFF, Detective Department. WANTED here, charged with causing the death of his wife, sometime during the night of the 15th instant:— Hugh M'Cann, a labourer, about 31 jears of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, thin face, fresh complexion, small tuft of sandy hair on chin, very small moustache. Dressed when last seen in a faded blue linen jacket, dirty moleskin trowsers, and slouched cap. Is a native of Kilkeel, county Down, Ireland, where his relatives reside. DESCRIPTION of Daniel Briody ( mother's name Mary Coyle), Thomas Donahoe ( mother's name Mary Donahoe), natives of Lisney, and Thomas Lantry ( mother's name Mary Brady), native of Derries, who stand charged with - having, on the 15th day of August, 1879, in the barony of Clonmahon, parish of Scrabby, at Sallaghan, committed an affray in which Edward Brady and Charles Mulligan were stabbed and their lives endangered :— 1. Daniel Briody — Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, five feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest ; is a shoe- maker. 2. Thomas Donahoe— Hazel eyes, hooked nose, red complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, fair hair; wore a black bat, frieze coat, black tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. 3. Thomas Lantry— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft hat, black tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a farmer's son. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AtlS- UST 29, 1879. DUBLIN CASTLE, 14th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, ia the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may becorco entitled to it under the conditions of this' Proclamation. Cork. DESCRIPTION of a man who gives his name as John Cunningham, and states he is a native of Roybow, near Ballinrobe county Mayo, who stands charged on suspicion, on the 23rd day of August, 1879, in the barony of Orrery and Kilmore, parish of Buttevant, with having committed crime elsewhere; he has been at Buttevant for the last 10 days ; there was found in his possession a penknife witb a mark of blood on one blade; blood mark on front of shirt, in line with hip; he is in Mallow Bridewell, pending inquiries :— bald on top of he} d, inner ankle of right foot rather large, blue eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, rather long face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 47 years of age, brown hair; wore a jerry hat, black tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and vest; states he is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of John Keating ( mother's surname Herlihy), native of Glanagoul, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1879, iu the barony of Barrymore, p wish of Rathcormac, assaulted James Barry, by inflicting wounds upon his head and face with a penknife :— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, fair complexion, broad full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 33 years of age, light brown hair; wore a felt hat, black frock coat, hlack trowsers, and vest— clothing of American make ; is a farmer, lately returned from America. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macker or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the aame, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 18th August, 1879, absconded from the Reheboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin:— James Ireland ( 181), 14 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, pretty large mouth, round and rough- lookiog visage, several marks of Indian ink on his. arms ; formerly belonged to Belfast: ran away from the " Gibraltar " Training Ship in May, last; parents reside at 6, Barnes- court, off Curtis- street, Belfast. School dress— Light cord jacket, trowsers, and vest, buckled Blucher boots, Scotch pattern cap, blay calico shirt, blay cotton socks, leather belt. This boy will likely make for Belfast by boat or otherwise. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17024 m— 28502). DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who on the 18th August, 1879, absconded from the Rehoboth- place Reformatory School, Dublin :— Augustus O'Brien ( 164), 15 years of age, 4 feet high, pretty stout make, pale complexion, black hair, back eyes, broad and flat nose, round visage, mark of a cut on left cheek at side of nose ; formerly belonged to Dublin city; parents both dead ; ran away from Blackrock Industrial School, about 2 years ago. School dress— Light cord jacket, trowsers, and vest with calico sleeves, buckled Blucher boots, Scotch pat'ern cap, blay calico shirt, blay'cotton pocks, leather belt. This boy will likely make for Kingstown or'Bray, as he knows those localities very well. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expanse of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 17024 M.— 28502.) DESCRIPTION of Margaret Connell, native of Dublin or Balbrigg » n, who stands cha ged with having, during the month of July, 1879, in the barony ot Kilcoursey, parish of Kilbride, stolen aud pawned a qunntiiy of wearing apparel, the property of her em- ployer:— Smart walk, teeth project when mouth opens, dart eyebrows which meet, dark gray eyes, regular nose, florid completion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 20 years of age, dark br . wn platted hair ; wore a coarse straw hat, black and white Striped cotton dress, elastic boots, earrings and locket; is a domestic servant. DESCRIPTION of David Power, who left his father's house at Mohane, parish of Cahircarney, barony of Smallcounty, and county of Limerick, on the 24th day of February, 1879, for the purpose of attending the athletic sports of Bruff, and not having since returned, and after diligent search having beep made by his parents without success, it is now supposed he has met with foul play:— Wants a tooth in the upper jaw, blue eyes, regular nose, very fair com- plexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet j inoh in height, fair hair, 15 years of age; wore a dark tweed saik cost, light- coloured tweed trowsers an4 vest, and Scotch cap.
