No Description can bo inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, a. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. Thomas Lantry— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft hat, black tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a farmer's son. 5. Patrick Daly— Dark eyes, hooked nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a hat, bright tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that about the hour of Five o'clock, on the morning of the 22nd ultimo, the body of James Neagle, was found on the public road, in the townland of Kineilty, in the county of Clare, murdered by some person or persons at present unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by Thomas Butler, esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DUBLIN CASTLE, 14th August, 1879. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, ia the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of two vearling bullocks, the property of Patrick Minogue, of Ernagh, which were stolen from off the townland of Derrynaneal, barony of Tulla Upper, and parish of Feakle, on the night of the 12th or morning of tho 13th August, 1879:— 1. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a * FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in tho murder aforesaid. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid by Edmund Y. Peel, Esq., the Resident- Magistrate at Letterkenny, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST .19, 1879. DESCRIPTION of Charles Elliott, native of Drum- errin, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 14th July, instant, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Inniskcel, stolen nine sheep, viz.— four ewes, three wethers, one ram, and one lamb, the property of Patrick Dunleavy:— Wants two joints of third finger of right hand ; has a habit of twitching his mouth to right side when speaking; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, brown hair, turning gray, wears all his beard ; wore a soft black hat, dark frieze coat, dark trowsers, frieze vest Speaks with a coarse accent peculiar to returned Irish Americans, which he is one of; is a farmer. The bullock, the property of James Beatty, supposed to have been stolea, and described in the Hue- and- Cry of 12th instant, has been recovered. James Mulhern ( assault endangering life), has surrendered and been admitted to bail to take his trial at next Quarter Sessions; Hue- and- Cry, 5th August, 1879. DESCRIPTION of a horse, the property of Michael Corcoran, which was stolen from the lands of Drum- bane, parish of Dunmore, barony of Dunmore, on the 16th day of August, 1879 ;— A bay horse, 4 years old, about 15 hands high, black legs, scutch tail, a few white hairs on forehead, a crack on front of both fore and hind near hoofs, a scrape on shin, between knee and fetlock of off fore leg; value about £ 25. DESCRIPTION of James Brown ( mother's surname Geany), native of Meenbannivane, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of July, 1879, iQ the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleisland, committed a rape:— recentcut ( supposed on left hand) from reaping hook, dark eyes, thick nose, sallow com- plexion, broad face, stout smooth make, 5 feet 6| inches high, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark soft hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; left sleeve of coat torn at the elbow, lined inside with light- coloured tweed about shoulders; wants a button on back of coat; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Mulhall, native of Uskerty, mother's surname Kenny, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 4th August, 1879, in in the barony of Fassadineen, parish of Dysart, stolen and offered for sale at Castledermot fair, eleven bullocks, the property of Thomas White, of Knocknadogue ( cattle recovered) :— Large feet, slightly round shoulders, high cheek bones, sunken jaws, slight curl in upper lip. opening between teeth, supposed to shave, lost a joint of one firger; blue eyes, ordinary nise, pale complexion, thin face, slight mak;-, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a black broad- leafed jerry hat, blue frieze sack- make coat, dark tweed trowsers with narrow white stripe, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of James Flanagan, native of Leabeg, Ballycumber, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 30th July, 1879, in the barony of Kil- coursey, parish of Kilmonaghan, stolen ten head of cattle, the property of Terence Flanagan, of Clough- atanny, King's County:— Respectible looking, wore all his beard, which is fair, light moustache, brown eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, six feet high, about 23 years of age ; wore a soft jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a farmer, deals in cattle, and attends fairs. DESCRIPTION of Armstrong, native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1879, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dernon, parish of Mullingar, pawned a pair of boots that were stolen from Robert F. Lethbridge, Esg., Belmont, on 17th July, 1879:— Dark eyes, regular nore, dark complexion, bro td face, stout make, 5 feet 7^*> inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; wore a black soft hat, black coat, trowsers, and vest. Mahon ( native place unknown), who stands charged with having, on the 11th April, 1879, in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernon, parish of Mullingar, embezzled from the M. G. W. Railway, a sum of money, he being a station roaster in their employment:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 48 years of age, black hair, turning gray; wore all his beard, which is turning gray; wore a black coat, tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on . the 5th August, 1879, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— Thomas Murphy, 1419, about 19 or 20 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches or 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long and regular nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; small mark of cut on forehead ; formerly belonged to 16, Upper Gloucester placet Dublin, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap, strong boots. Supposed to have air old jerry hat and other old clothes with the above. Has a good knowledge of the stone- cutting trade. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 16898 m.— 28301.) Was formerly a dairy- boy about Oldcourt and Chapelizod. He is now a blacksmith.
