DESCRIPTION of Henry Keenan, native of county Antrim, who stands charged with embezzlement of money at Ballybeg, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Ahoghill, and county of Antrim:— Down- looking appearance, very heavy eyebrows, short neck, square shoulders, dark ej es, short nose, dark com- plexion, round lace, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a clerk. DESCRIPTION of William John Catherwood, native of Innisrush, county Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the 28th July, at Ardna- glass, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion Grange, seriously assaulted Thomas Duffin : — Largegray eyes, thinnose, pale complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair curly hair and whiskers ; is a farmer and weaver. DESCRIPTION of person unknown, supposed native of county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the 1st July, 1879, in the barony of Armagh, parish of Keady, stabbed Frances Hughes, with a pocket knife inflicting a dangerous wound in abdomen, in the townland of Drumlargue, near Keady:— dark complexion, regular face, medium mako, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; wore a dark coat, moleskin trowsers, dark vest. Newtownhamilton, July2,1879. ( 29468c.— 38763.) Carlow. PARTICULARS relative to Police Supervisee Mary Purcell, convicted at Carlow, county Carlow, on 24th June, 1878, for stealing a chemise, and sentenced to 12- calendar months hard labour and ( at termination thereof) 8 years police supervision :— 10 years of age on conviction, married, a labourer, bora in Castle- comer ; fair hair, hazel eyes, sallow complexion, long visage, slight make, 5 feet 3J inches high. The above- named prisoner was released from Mountjoy Female Prison, on the 28rd ultimo, and took her discharge for Kilkenny, but she has not repor; ed herself to the Constabulary there, and her present whereabouts is unknown. IUBRIPTION of Thomas Meany, native of Rath- geeran or Walshestown. who stands charged with having on or about the 3rd June, 1879, ia the barony of St. Mullins, Lower, parish of St. Mullins, stolen 3 sheep, the property of Thomas Murphy, and 4, the property of PatricK Kealy, of Rathgeeran, which he sold in the fair of Tinahely, on 4th Juni:, 1879— see Hue- and- Cry of 1st July, 1879:— Thin beard, gray eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark hair; wore a frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark vest,; is a labourer. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of 20th June, 1879, an old man named Thomas Devonport, who resided in the townland of Ballaghaline, ia the parish of Killilagh, and county of Clare, was strangled in his bed by some person or persons unknown. His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this Murder is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such infor- mation as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid, on conviction, by T. Butler, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Kilkee, to those who may become entitled to it under the conditions of this Proclamation. Cork. WHEREAS it has beei;. represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the 2nd day of April, 1878 William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some persons unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of his giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid by Edmund Y. Peel, Esq., the Resident Magistrate at Letterkenny, to those who may become entitled to it onder the conditions of this Proclamation. DESCRIPTION of Charles Elliott, native of Drum- errin, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 14th July, instant, in the barony of Boylagh, parish of Inniskeel, stolen nine sheep, viz.— four ewes, three wethers, one ram, and one lamb, the property of Patrick Dunleavy:— Wants two joints of third finger of right hand; has a habit of twitching his mouth to right side when speaking; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, brown hair, turning gray, wears all his beard ; wore a soft black hat, dark frieze coat, dark trowsers, frieze vest Speaks with a coarse accent peculiar to returned Irish Americans, which he is one of; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of James Mulhern ( mother's surname Keown), native of Drumoneillar, who stands charged with having, on the 31st July, 1879, at Roscon, in ihe barony of Magheraboy, parish of Innishmacsaint, seriously assaulted Edward Reilly, so as to endanger his life :— Bald on top of head, left eye tender, blue circle tattooed on back of right hand, letters J. M, inside circle, blueeyes, regularnose, sandy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair; wore a cap with peak, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, generally wears strong laced boots; is a farmer and water bailiff; has been ia America, Glasgow, and Liverpool; is a good boat- man— may seek employment at a seaport. DESCRIPTION of James Brown ( mother's surname Geany), native of Meenbannivane, who stands charged With having, on the 29th day of July, 1879, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Castleisland, committed arape:— recent cut ( supposed on left hand) from reapinghook, dark eyes, thick nose, sallow com- plexion, broad face, stout smooth make, 5 feet 6£ inches h'gh, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a dark soft hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; left sleeve of coat torn at the elbow, lined iaside with light- coloured tweed about shoulders; wants a button on back of coat; is a labourer. Bryan, Esq, J. P., D. L., and others :— Stooped shoulders, walks widely and swaggeringly, known as " the Leinster poet," and " Count the farmers," black eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, slight make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 42 years of age, dark brown hair and whiskers; wore a jerry hat, dark shabby suit, mostly two coats, with papers protruding from the pookets ; is a tramp writing ballads. DESCRIPTION of John Madden, native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 31st July, 1879, at Ballinlough, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Dunshaughlin stolen from the Dunshaugh lin Union Workhouse, a chimney- c'eaning m^^ neW value for £ l 10 « ., the property of the Guardians of | said Union :— teeth broken and irregular in front of ' mouth, has one tooth larger than the others in his up- per jaw, large month, weak knees which bend forward when walking, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore ^ a black jerry hat, light tweed coat, light tweed trowsers with dark stripe down outside seam, light tweed vest; is a chimney sweep. The machine is nearly new, the handle is 60 feet long, divided into 20 lengths of 3 feet each, with brass screws and brass fittings, and a small wheel on the head, Dunshaughlin, August 2, 1879. DESCRIPTION of Colombus Doggett, native of Cloghan, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1879, in the barony of Duleek Upper, parish of Ardcath, aided and abetted another party ( now in custody) in the stealing of five fat heifers from off the lands of Prienstown, which have since been recovered:— Habit of closing right eye when speaking ( which also appears blind), delicate appear- ance, shaves all his face, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin lace, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, tweed vest; is a sweep, and cattle driver; he has not worked as a sweep recently. DESCRIPTION of Michael Mintha, native of Commons, who stands charged with having, oa the 10th July, 1879, at Carrickmacross Fair, assisted Denis Corr ( arrested) in the sale of cattle stolen from Joseph Booth, of Darver, barony of Louth, parish of Darver, and county of Louth:— Rather large feet, hair begin- ning to grow on face, gray eyes, slightly cocked ncse, sallow complexion, soft oval face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of age, brown hair; generally wears a Tound hat, dark tweed coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Ann Boylan, ( described in the Hue- and- Cry 1 st of November, 1878), has not returned to her home or been heard of. monaghan. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Mooney, native of Carrick- macross, who stands charged with having, on the 81st July, or 1st August, 1879, in the barony of Farney, parish of Magheross, stolen 2 bullocks, which he abandoned, after endeavouring to sell them at Crossmaglen fair:— bright eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, about 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark coat, gray trowsers, tweed vest. He has been at service with a country farmer, and was latterly seeking employment at hay- making, and will probably now be found working at meadows in the country. Carrickmacross, 8rd August, 1879. WHKKBAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that on the night of the 26th, or morn- ing of the 27th October, 1878, the contents of a rick- yard at Ballyfallon, near Athboy, in the county of Meath, the property of F. B. Martley, esq, J. P., were maliciously and wilfully set on fire and totally destroyed: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring" ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Burns, native of Borrisna- farney, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of July, 1879, at Borrisnafarney, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Borrisnafarney, seriously as- saulted Jeremiah Tierney, of Borrisnafarney, by striking him on the forehead with a hammer, thereby placing his life in danger:— Speaks with a stammer, and smiles when spoken to; blue or gray eyes, drooped nose, pale complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 82 or 33 years of age, dark hair, no whiskers, shaves all his face; wore a frieze frock coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Walsh or Roche, alias " Big Nell," ( mother's surname Roche) native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 2Srd or morning of24th July, 1879, in the barony of Decies- within- Drum, parish of Aglish. stolen four sheep, three of which have been recovered, off the lands of Graigue, the property of Jeoffry Drohan :— Tidy smart appearance, brown eyes, long nose, freckled complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 85 years of age, sacdy hair; generally wears a black circular cloak without a hood, drawn closely over her face, and elastic boots; is a servant girl. Mahon ( native place unknown), who stands charged with having, on the 11th April, 1879, in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernon, parish of Mullingar, embezzled from the M. G. W. Railway, a sum of money, he being a station master in their employment:— Gray eye « , regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 48 years of age, black hair, turning gray; wore all his beard, which is turning gray; wore a black coat, tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of John Woods ( mother's surname Murphy), native of Collinstown, who stands charged with having, on or about the 31st May, 1879, in the barony of Delvin, parish of Delvin, unlawfully re- tained and embezzled th3 sum of £ 414 I6j. 5d , the property of the Guardians of the Delvin Uuion :— fight gray eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, keen expression, smart active appear- arce, light fair hair, thin beard and moustache very light in colour; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, aud vest; is a farmer and tax collector. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th July, 1879, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School at Enniskerry, county Wicklow:— Michael Judge, 1438, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches or 5 feet 7 inches high, strong make, fair complexion, fair hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mouth, long visage ; cannot straighten right a* m fully; formerly belonged to 69, Mafy's- lane, Dublin, where his parents reside.' The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of:— Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap, strong boots. He may have some other clothes with the above. His father is a blacksmith, and the boy has been at that business for some years. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. DESCRIPTION of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 2nd July, 1879 absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— Richard M'Hale, 1547, about 16 years of age, about 4 feet 9 inches or 4 feet 11 inches high, strong make, sallow complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, thick nose, full mouth, round visage; tattoo marks on arms and wrists ; formerly bel< nged to Quay- street, Sligo, where hU pirents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of: Corduroy trowsers, vest, and jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make, strong boots. Is probably accompanied by h s mother, and may endeavour to go to Glasgow, where his uncle resides.
