Wanted in Blackburn, for housebreaking, and stealing a Chair ; two Venetian Blinds ; two Ashpans ; and three pairs of window Curtains, on 20th instant, ( property recovered) : a man, 32 or 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, long thin face, high cheek bones, large nose, swarthy complexion, sandy hair and moustache, slender made ; dressed in a tweed loose jacket, out of repair at one side, cotton cord trousers, rather far worn, blue cloth cap with peak, bob on top, and clogs ; frequents spirit and beer vaults, and may stop at common lodging houses. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Lighteliffe, by means of burglary, on 21st instant : a square- shaped Teapot, square top, neaily new ; a sugar Bowl, helmet shaped ; a cream Jug, marked ' W. 8. M.'; a large Snuff Box ; a gill Measure ; ° a butter Knife, pearl handle ; a tea- caddy Spoon ; a salt Spoon, shovel pattern ; a sugar Spoon, ivory handle ; a sauce Spoon ; a pickle Forlc ; a gravy Spoon, ' W.' scratched on back of FORGERY. Charged at Hastings for uttering two forged Cheques . upon the Oxford- street Branch of the London and County Bank on 19th instant: a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, and small light moustache ; dressed in dark cut- away eoat, dark vest, light trousers, and • small round crowned hat. RAMSEY, late of 6, Grenville- terrace, Hornsey, and late . Secretary to St. Mark's Hospital, City- road, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, turning grey, stout build, walks erect, has a cast in one eye ( supposed right) ; respectable appearance. Cricket Ground, 01( 1 Traf- ford, about 6.15 p. m. on 24tli instant: a gold lever Watch, white dial, gold hands and seconds finger, maker's name— * Gardner, Mauehester'; has engraved on the inside of outer case, ' Presented to John Hossell by his son, Thomas Hossell, on the occasion of his Golden Wedding, June 5th, 1877.' Stolen from the person at Stourport Regatta, on 21st inst.: a silver English lever Watch, No. 68244, crystal glass face, maker J. W. Benson, London ; and an old fashioned silver Watch, No. 8947, has several dents on baek of case. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Hardman, Police Station, Great Witley, near Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen from the person of a passenger returning from Yarmouth Races, at Manningtree, on 16th instant: a gold Lever Watch, - f plate, single case, No. 13094, makers name not known, but has the address of either Cornhill, or Leaden- hall- street, on face. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hedington, Great Eastern Railway, Liverpool- street E. C. — Bow- street, July 25. Stolen with violence, from the person of CHARLES CLOAKE, on 3rd ultimo, in Hythe, Kent: an old- fashioned silver Watch ( recovered). By THOMAS ALLEN, a deserter from the 95th Regiment, 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes ; dressed fti black and white check cloth coat and vest, dark speckled cloth trousers. Information to Head Constable Aedy, Borough Police Office, Hythe, Kent.— Bow- street, July 25. Stolen from the person on 17th instant, at Burgley Park Agricultural Show : a double- cased engine- turned gold lever Watch, with balance hands, and sunk seconds, maker S. T. Briggs, Spalding, No. 102640. £ 5 reward will be given for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender. Information to Mr. Superintendent Ormsby, W. R. C. Halifax, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Turkey Vale, Little Lever, by means of housebreaking, on 22nd instant: a single- breasted black cloth Coat, man's size, two pockets outside with flaps, and one inside left breast ; a single- breasted black cloth man's Vest, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast; a pair of man's black cloth Trousers, fall fronts, and in good condition ; a pair of man's blueher Shoes, three brass eyelet- holes on each side; a blue and white silk Pocket- handkerchief ; a German silver verge Watch. Supposed by two men who were seen near the place about 10 a. m. : one about 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, and bare face ; dressed in short jacket, light coloured trousers and cap ; the other about the same age and height, red hair and moustache, and supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, and carrying his own in a brown paper parcel; they were last seen going in the direction of Radcliffe, along the canal bauk. Obtained on 5th instant, by fraud : a white mare Cob, 13 hands high, and dark green Phaeton, picked out same, ben-, shafts, blue cloth Cushions, skin B. ug, silver plated Harness, whalebone topped Whip. By a man, 2! years of age, fair complexion, slight light whiskers ; dressed iu light clothes, and black hat.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, July 23. Found at White Walsham, on 8th instant, and supposed stolen : five red' and white Heifers, in good condition. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Iremonger, B'erks Constabulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, July 23. The Horse reported in Police Gazette of 21st instant, as stolen from Primrose Hill, has been recovered. GEORGE OVINGTON RAINE, is apprehended on the charge : he is 5 feet 6| inches high, dark complexion, grey eyes, heavy eye- brows, dark brown hair, whiskers, beard, aud saoustrche. large scar on left cheek, scar across forehead, piece out of under lip, on left side, proportionately made, by trade a fitter, and a native of Crook, Durham. Information to Mr. Super- intendent Thompson, Police Office^ Barnard Castle, Durham. — Bow- street, July 23. Absconded from Dawley, charged with having obtained a Horse and Cart by false pretences : the Horse is iWk brown, aged, in good condition, 15 hands high, long tail, small star on forehead, shoes much worn, strong spring . cart, painted dark brown, the cratch broken behind and fastened with a strap, name on cart ' John Sheward, blacksmith. Dawley, or Legit- moor, Salop : by a man 24 years of age, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, and small black moustache ; dressed in a grey tweed suit, native of Shropshire, and has been a soldier, Information to Mr. Chief Superintendent Ivins, Wellington. Salop, or to Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop.— Bow street, July 23. Stolen from the Home Park, Windsor, since 27th ultimo : 9 Sheep, had been recently sheared, not marked. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hayes, Borough Police, Office, Windsor. — Bow- street, July 23. LARCENY AID EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Leominster, stealing from William Price, a fellow lodger, a new hard bowler Hat; a white Llama Muffler ; a new woollen grey Shirt, small plaid : a light coloured silk Necktie ; a pair of blue cotton Socks; an India rubber folding tobacco Pouch ; a wooden Pipe : a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, very fair, high forehead, appeared to be bald, light brown hair, whiskers shaved off, stout build ; dressed in a grey plaid suit, wearing the stolen hat. Took it is believed a railway ticket on 23rd instant, for Pontypool- road station. Information to Mr. Superintendent Johnson, Leominster, Hereford.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Rawtenstall, between 8 and 9 p. m. on 24th instant: a lady's gold Ring, with two pearls and red coral stone in centre ; 2 black and white plaid Shawls, one large size, the other small; 1 old brown alpacca dress Skirt, which had the flounces taken off; 1 brown morocc>> Purse ; and 1 market Bass, far wore. By a girl who live d iu the house a week, about 15 years of age, fresh complexion, freckled face, medium build, sandy hair ; dressed in clogs, and an old black shawl over her head. Stated she had been in the workhouse at Leigh, also engaged as a servant by a clergyman at Leigh, near Bolton, and that she had an uncle living at Burnley. Information to Mr. Superintendent Henderson, Police Office, Bacup, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 28. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 7 a. m. and 10' 30 p. m. on 25th instant, the dwelling- house of John Downes, of Stanton Long, was broken into and stolen therefrom : an old duck Gun, has been shortened in the barrel, the barrel is now 35 inches long with new nipple, and marked on the stock with the letter ' T.' Can be identified. Information to Mr. Superintendent Galliers, County Constabulary, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Davies, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen by means of burglary on 18th instant, from the dwelling- house of Mr. William Gadsden, Dagnall, near Hemel Hempstead : six silver tea Spoons, marked ' G.'; two ditto dessert Spoons, marked ' B. G.'; four plated table Spoons ; and about 5s. Information to Mr. Superintendent Denson, Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, from Mr. William Cook Hinde, of Acklam, on 19th instant : a black cloth Coat, a grey cloth tweed Jacket and Vest, and mixture plaid cloth Coat, a striped cloth Vest and' Trousers ( nearly new), a pair of tight laeed Boots, brass eyelet holes. Supposed by tramps, one about 5 feet 2 inches high, dark clothes, patched on the knees, black billycock hat, and clogs ; another 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sailor cap, button on each side, dark cloth clothes, and old boots. Information to Mr. Superintendent Blanchard, East Riding Constabulary, Norton, Malton.— Bow- street, July 23. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on 19th instant, from the Downs, near Eawleyi Berks : 5 Scotch bred Heifers, four black and one red. In- formation to Mr. Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, Berks.— Bow- street, July 28. Stolen on 23rd instant : a strawberry roan horse Pony, 14J hands high, hog mane, black legs below knees ; set of brass mounted Harness, Tilbury tugs ; and a Dog Cart, painted dark green, picked out yellow, aud red or green light high wheels, nut and axle near side shaft repaired. By a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no wlii.-. kers, light brown hair and moustache, slight; dressed in light tweed suit, high black hat, wore a quantity of jewellery. -— Metropolitan Police, P Division, July 28. Description of HUMPHREY HEAD, alias TWISTER, charged with stealing tame Rabbits ( recovered), at West- hoatlily, on 18th instant: about 30 years of age, 5 feet S or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair and eyes, proportionate figure, a labourer, native of Birch Grove, near Horsted Keynes. Supposed working in or near Brighton, and gene- rally employed as a bricklayer's labourer. Information to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Grinstead, Sussex, wlo holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 28, Absconded charged with stealing £ 20 : J. BENNETT, 37 years of age, b feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, whiskers and moustacne fair, high cheek boaes, militarv appearance; dress, rough brown tweed suit, low felt hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, S Division, July 25. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Heaton Mersey, between 3 a. m. and 4 p. m. on 21st instant : an old- fashioned gold repeating Watch, with grey dial, and gold Chain attached. Supposed by a man 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, fresh complexion, and sandy hair ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, pocket outside left breast, and blue tie with white edge. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bent, County Police Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester.— Bow- street, July 25. Absconded on 19th instant, charged with stealing £ 10 : JAMES DUNNETT, 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair, light hair and moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in black suit, and high hat. Lately discharged from Royal Artillery. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, July 25. Stolen on 19th instant : a Japanese tin Cashbox, con- taining £ 13 in Gold and Silver. By a man, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, auburn hair ; dre sed in light dust coat, striped tweed trousers, round hat, side- spring boots, striped cotton shirt. Larceny— visitor;— M- ArapoUtdn, Police, K Division, July 25, Absconded charged with embezzlement: A MAN, a baker, 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, complexion and hair dark, grey eyes ; dress, dark grey coat and trousers, ifeard felt hat. — Metropolitan Police, N Divisions, July 25. Absconded charged with stealing a leather pocket book, containing £ 2 12s. 6d. and memoranda: a, man, printer, 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, complexion and hair fair ; dress, dark coat and vest, light tweed trousers, black felt hat, lace boots.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, July 25. Description of HARRY ROBINSON, alias HARRY FRAZER, charged on a warrant with stealing two large Boxes, containing a feather Bed, Bedding, and Blankets, various articles of men's and women's Clothing, a Bath, and a quantity of Crockery- ware, at Lawford, on 12th March last : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fair com- plexion, blue eyes, has a small ' brown moustache, and no whiskers, hair cut short, well made, and walks erect; he is very respectably dressed, usually in a suit of greyish cloth, • with a small hard felt hat, he is a tailor by trade, and usually works in military tailor's shops, he is known in garrison towns by the name of FLASH HARRY ; he is supposed to be living with a married woman who eloped with him at the time : the woman is from 28 to 30 years of age, medium height, rather dare complexion, and pale, an Irish woman by birth ; some of the property has been traced to London, and another part to Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire, where the parties are supposed to be living. Information to Inspector Ackers, Essex Constabulary, Mistley.— Bow- street, July 23. Description of JOHN ARMSTRONG, a cashier and clerk, charged on warrant with stealing a large sum of Money from hirs employers, the Singer Manufacturing Company, on 16th instant: he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair and moustache, no whiskers, large nose, proportionate build ; dressed in dark grey overcoat, shooting coat and vest of same material, and black cloth trousers, and hard black felt hat. Was at York Station on the night of 16th instant. Information to the Chief Constable, Central Police Station, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, Northumberland.— Bow- street, July 23. GEORGE E. ROSE, advertised in the Police Gazette of 6th instant, charged with embezzlement at Norton, has been apprehended and committed for trial at the next Quarter Sessions to be held at Beverley in October next. Information to Mr. Superintendent Blanchard, East Riding Constabulary. Norton, Malton.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen ou 19th instant, from a cottage near the Pentre : a Fowl, the property of David Davies. By a tramp, about 35 years years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light or sandy hair, small beard ; dressed in old dark coat, moleskin trousers, woven cap, and red searf. He was traced through Llangynog and Bala to Corwen, Merionethshire. Information to Police Constable Williams, Llanfyllin, or to Mr. Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, July 23. Description of a man who calls himself G. or J. CROSBY, a clock and watch cleaner, and musical instrument repairer, charged on warrant with larceny as a bailee : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, full grey eyes, dark brown hair, bald on the front part of head, dark bushy whiskers, shaved on chin, rather hangs his head to one side, heavy set, stoutish build, short thick neck, native of London, and is well acquainted with that place; dressed in blue pilot cloth overcoat, rather short, black velvet collar, black cloth coat underneath, fancy rep cloth trousers, hard felt mulier hat, with flat crown, wears linen collars, short quick walker, respectable appearance, carries a black satchel bag, and walking stick, the latter is rather short and has a spike at the end ; he is in the habit of travelling about the country cleaning clocks and watches, and has pledged several that he had to repair. Information to Chief Constable Wilkinson, Kendal, Westmorland.— Bow- street, July 23. head, proportionate figure.; dressed when he abscowfed in a brown overcoat, short bine ribbed cloth coat and vest, light coloured trousers, red striped shirt, light coloured hat with wire or cane round ran. He is of rather drunken habits, and frequents common lodging . houses and low public houses. Information to Mr. Superintendent Rogers, Police Office Darlington, Durham.— Bow- eireet, July 23. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described.) Absconded from Woolland House, Dorset, on 17th inst., charged on warrant with sodomy: ALFRED KEENE, lately a butler at Moreton House, about 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, ginger whiskers clipped rather short, slight build, pale complexion, dark eyes ( rather small). Information to Mr. Superintendent Grant, Sturminster Newton, near Blandford, Dorset.— Bow- street, July 28. On 24th instant, a parcel containing the dead body of a eewly born male Child was found floating in the River Med way, between New Hythe aud Snodland ; the body was wrapped iu a piece of unbleached calico, and a piece of black material, apparently the lining of a dress ; supposed to have been in the water several days. A coroner's inquest was held on the body on 25th instant, when the jury returned an open verdict. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hulse, Kent Constabulary, West Mailing.— Bow- Street, July 28. Missing from his home in Whitchurch since 3 p. m. on 25th instant: THOMAS JENNINGS, 80 years of age, 5 £ eet 7 inches high, and grey hair and whiskers ; dressed in a light cloth jacket, black cloth trousers and vest, woollen scarf, blue silk necktie with white spots, high box hat with black cloth band, blucher boots, and stoops a lit'Je when walking. Was last seen going in the direction of Wrexham. It is supposed that some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- street, July 28. Remanded at Chapel- en- le- Frith, until 30th instant, on a charge of larceny : ALBERT EASTWOOD, 38 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, sandy moustache. States he is an engine litter, and has worked in Sunderland. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hallam, Chapel- en- le- Frith, Derbyshise.— Bow- street, July 28. Remanded at Worthing until 30th instant, on a charge of larceny : a tramping groom, WILLIAM BROWN, 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, blue eyes, grey hair, bald on crown, fresh complexion, mole on left cheek, walks lame, left leg shorter than right ; dressed in pepper- and- salt jacket, pockets outside, coachman's striped livery, vest with plain buttons, dark cord trousers, heavy lace- up boots, white wrapper with red stripes, and brown hard felt hat with coloured band. States that he belongs to Oxford, and frequents races. Information to Mr. Superintendent Silvester, West Sussex Constabulary, Worthing.— Bow- street, July 28. Remanded until 26th instant, ( and may be further remanded), on a charge of housebreaking : RICHARD PICKERING, 34 years of age, 5 feet 5- inches high, round face, fresh complexion ( sunburnt), light brown hair, sandy moustache, proportionate make, has lost part of the fourth and fifth fingers on left hand. And WILLIAM LOMAX, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6J ins. high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, long face ( squints), birth mark near left eye, and cat mark on left cheek.
