Williams, Highgate - lane, Sparkbrook, between 1 and 5 a. m. on 2nd instant : two pairs of black cloth Trousers, nearly new ; two pairs of mixed cloth ditto ; a pair of cloth ditto, striped pattern ; a pair of light grey cloth ditto, nearly new, and rather large in legs ; a round Jacket and Vest, man's size, nearly new ; and a round Jacket and Vest, youth's size, nearly new. About 5 a. m. on the morning of lst instant, the dead body of a newly- born male Child, Wrapped in a flannel, which was tied with cord, was found floating in the River Mersey, off New Brighton ; and at an inquest held at the Commercial Hotel, New Brighton, on 2nd instant, the j ury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' By JOHN HALL, Blackburn, a tramping cooper, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, long thin face, brown hair, ginger or light moustache, and chin ender, has very white eyebrows ; dressed in dark coat, grey stripe trousers, black and white . vest, white silk tie, black soft billycock hat, and elastic- side boots. Description of ELI FRANCIS, charged with stealing £^ 0 in Gold and Silver, on 4th instant: he is 16 years of age, but looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh com- plexion, light brown hair, walks erect, has been in the 4th Regiment of Foot for 7 months ; dressed iu a suit of dark grey tweed ( nearly new), a brown bowler hat, and is tattooed on left, forearm with the initials ' E. F.' and ' Nit •- 543.' Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen during tie night of 3rd instant, from a beerhouse* at Slough : a dark blue cloth Overcoat, man's size, with three pockets outside, with flaps, and one inside left breast, has been torn on the right hand side just below the pocket ; a pair of military Boots, nearly new ; a buck- horn handled Knife, with two blades ; and a red and white coloured Handkerchief. Supposed by an Irish navvy who lodged in the house, and was seen wearing the coat and boots, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, and small sandy whiskers ; dressed in a navvies slop, moleskin trousers and cap, with knob on the top. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, July 7. JOBBERY AHD LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from tlfe person of a gentleman in Preston, on 9th May last : a silver lever hunting Watch, No. 40359, makers name on dial and works, ' J. Brandon, Fleetwood,' had attached a long silver Chain. Information to Head Con- stable Oglethorpe, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 9. During the night of 3rd instant, the London and North Western Railway Station at Medbourne Bridge, Ashley, was broken into, and stolen therein : an expanding silver- plated drinking Cup, in black leather case ; a brown leather bundle Strap, about* two feet long, with bandies ; a pair of spring- side Boots, patch on the inside of right boot, near the tread, pointed toe- saps, aflid has been recently new aoled ; a pair of worsted cord Trousers, fly fronts, rule pocket in right side, brass buttons, and bound round the top of waistband with red binding; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, cloth buttons, yellow lining, and three pockets ; a blue and white cotton bundle Handkerchief; a new cotton under Shirt ; and a gold Locket, flowered on one side, and heart on the other. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Tye, Police Station, Little Bowden, Market Harborough, Northamptonshire.— Bow- st., July 9. • Stolen by violence from the person of Elizabeth Chitten- den, between 6 and 7 p. m. on 3rd instant, near Frant, Sussex : a black morocco leather Purse, containing Jan old wedding Ring, much worn, a watch Key with 6 points, in the shape of a wheel, a half Sovereign, a two Shilling Piece, a few Coppers, and a few Postage Stamps : by a man about 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, dark brown hail, sandy whis- kers, pale face, slight figure, had the appearance of a respec- table labourer ; dressed in a dark jacket, cord trousers, dark cap with peak, and heavy half boots. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from a field, at Hermitage, during the night of 5th instant : a grey filly Pony, 3 years old, nearly 12 hands high, long tail, shod all round, recent y broken to harness, and letter ' W' branded on near shoulder ; the property of Mr. James Mathews, of Oare, near Newbury. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bennett, Newbury, Berks.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen since 26th ultimo, from a shed at Stedment, Wentnor, Salop : 4 sheep Skins, cross- bred, pitch marked with the letter ' H' on rump or side, and may be raddled on the shoulders, the property of . William Harris. Information to Mr. Superintendent Caswell, Church Stretton, or Sergeant Williams, Bishop's Castle, Salop.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen at Holmwood Common, Dorking, during the night of 4th instant: a Chesnut Mare, 13 hands high, white face, off fetlock white, and recently foaled ; by a man of gipsy appearance, and dressed in a long round frock, traced towards London. Description of a nag Mare, found in Shepston Fair, on 23rd ultimo, supposed stolen, about 15 hands high, aged, well bred, dark brown, both hind fetlocks white, white star on forehead, been fired on off fore leg, tail cut short, in fair con- dition, supposed to have left her foal, being in milk. Between 1 and 5 a. m., on lst instant, the dwelling- house of William White, at East Grinstead, was broken and entered and stolen therein : 6 cotton Shirts— one black and white, one blue striped, one blue plaid, two check, and one striped ; 5 blue and white packing Handkerchiefs ; 4 pocket Handker- chiefs— yellow and black, with red borders ; 1 pair of blue worsted Stockings ; ditto of grey ditto ; 2 pairs of ribbed • ditto; ditto of white ditto ; pair of man's nailed half Boots, five rows round- headed nails, left boot cut at toe, patent tips; 1 h lb. of twist Tobacco ; quartern loaves of Bread ; 8 lbs. ofjBacon ; and a dozen of Vesuvian Lights. Supposed by a man 26 or 27 yrs. of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, fair complexion, scurvy on face, light hair, whiskers and moustache, slight build, supposed a. bricklayer's labourer, lately employed on the new Railway Works at East Grinstead ; dressed jin old billycock hat, blue Guernsey, dirty white wrapper round neck, and dirty mole- skin trousers. Stolen by breaking into a pawnbroker's shop, at Bury, between 10.30 p. m. on 30th ultimo and 8 a. m. on 1st instant: 1 silver lever Watch, No. 9552. 1 ditto ditto or Geneva, 29032. 1 ditto Verge 6478. 1 ditto ditto 8815. About 16 other silver Geneva and verge Watches, several without glasses. 2 silver Albert Watch Guards, one of which has a silver Locket attached. 3 links of Coral Beads, one of which is large size with gold Snape. About £ 2 in Coppers, and a large quantity of Co opera- tive Checks. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Norton, charged with embezzling £ 1 6s. 7d., the monies of his employer, Mr. J. Farnliill, coal merchant, Norton, iMalton, East Riding, Yorks., GEORGE E. ROSE, labourer, a native of Ipswich, age about 27, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, thin light whiskers, fresh looking, round red face, walks very stiffly with right leg, with toe outwards, as if ankle had been broken ; dressed in a dark grey suit, black stiff hat. Warrant issued. Information to Mr. Superintendent Blanchard, East Riding Constabulary, Malton, Yorks.— Bow- street, July 9. Absconded on lst instant, charged on warrant with embezzlement: MARK THOMAS, late of Blackstock- road, Finsbury Park, 36 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, small moustache, little or no whiskers; dressed respectable, a clerk. Information to Inspector McWilliam, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen from a lodging- house at Goodshawfold, Bacup, between 10 a. m. on lst and 12 30 p. m. on 6th instant: a worsted cord cloth Coat, one pocket inside right breast and one outside left breast, also two in the flaps behind, and buttons up to the neck with black cord cloth buttons ; a black worsted cord cloth Vest, with three small pockets out- side, single- breasted, and black cord buttons; also a blue Necktie with ring fastener ; the whole were nearly new and belonged to another lodger. Suspicion is attached to a navvy who has tramped the country for the last 6 years, and was lodging at the same house; he left on the morning of 3rd instant, and has not been seen since. He is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, shaves off whiskers and wears a short- cut beard, and stout build; dressed in pepper- and- salt coloured jacket, moleskin trousers aLd vest, navvy boots, cap with peak in front and back, and is well known by the name of ' SHRIMP.' Description of THOMAS BURNS, against whom a true bill was found by the Grand Jury at the Quarter Sessions, on 2nd instant, for obtaining money by false pretfnceg at Cefn- y- Cedd, Flint, warrant issued : he is 23} years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, dark eyes, dark brown hair, cut mark on right wrist, scar near left elbow, slightly pock- pitted ; a bell hanger, last residence 36 or 38, Boughton, Chester. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: HENRY BUTLER, a clerk, late of 30, Church- road, De Beauvoir Town, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair hair and complexion, no whiskers or beard, slight moustache, very thin face, Targe nose, glim build, and of respectable appearance. Absconded from Aldershot ou 28th ultimo, charged with u Description or HENRY BECK, charged on warrant with embezzlement : 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, medium build, upright smart appearance, very dark hair, no whiskers, sharp features, large nose, bands very- rough, speaks with a thick husky voice as from a cold ; dressed in a dark tweed coat, light waistcoat, cord trousers, been washed, black Oxford hat, generally wears a white slop under his coat; has been a brewer's drayman. JOSHUA FAIREY, advertised in Police Gazette of 28th May last, and subsequent dates, charged on a warrant with larceny as the bailee of a gold Watch and a gold Ring, is in custody at Great Marlow : she is 57 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, very stout, dark hair, whiskers and moustache, turning grey, large eyes, and bloated face ; dressed in low black hat, and dark clothes, very much worn. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Sargent, High Wyeombe, or to Inspector Breene, Great Marlow, Bucks.— Bow- street, July 7. Charged, on warrant, with stealing Money : ARTHUR WILLIAM ROBINSON, a draper's assistant, a native of Bridlington Quay, 21 years of age, 5 fest 10 inches high, very red hair, parted in middle, ruddy complexion, slender build, and has a ' set of false teeth in upper jaw ; dressed when last seen in black coat and vest, and light tweed trousers. Information to the Chief Constable, Central Police Station, Newcastle- upon- Tyne.— Bow- street, July 4. Description of MARY DAWSON, native of Market Rasen, charged with stealing on 29th ultimo, at West Rasen, one Sovereign, the money of Robert Ellis, labourer: she is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet high, light complexion and hair, thin face, and rather high cheek bones; dressed in an old black dress, trimmed with velvet, velvet hat, plaid shawl, and has a child about 7 months old with her; she is in com- pany with a tramping pipe- maker, about 25 or 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair aud moustache ; dressed in dark trousers and vest, long lapped dark coat, black billy hat, bent in on the top, which he generally wears on one side; he carried a bundle, and had a little brown teirier dog with him. Information to Mr. Super- intendent Henson, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, July 4. Stslen at Eastbourne, Sussex, on 30th ultimo : a pair of child's Boots ( recovered). By a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather light complexion, freckled and j. pockmarked with large dark circular spots on face, particularly on left cheek, brown hair, few light whiskers on chin, rat- herj slight figure ; dressed in black felt hat, old striped lines, • jacket, grey trousers, old boots, much cut about the uppers to ease his feet; carried with him an old black jacket, wife a o- rev soft hat, and a hammer in pockets. Had the appearance of a tramping labourer, and is likely to be found at low lodging- houses or casual wards. SENIOR, charged on a warrant with bigamy, and advertised in the Police , Gazette of 28th May last, was in " in Manchester, on tramp. Inf;" dent Evans, Conway, Camarvon ' fair, light '. slue eyes, medium build, - old - scar on forehead and ' left cheek ; dressed in an old grey naissture coat, old tight- fitting yellow woollen cord trousers, old elastic side boots, and old black billycock hat.; states he is a native of Galway, a tramping groom, and has been convicted for larceny several times in the counties of Kent, Sussex and Flintshire. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Hughes, Holywell, or to In- spector McLaren, Rhyl, Flintshire.— Bow- street, July 9. In custody at Swaffham, JOHN CHABLES TOWER, alias TOOLEY, alias GEORGE HENRY JACKSON, about ,40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, getting bald on top of head, very small whiskers up by ear, light moustache, blue eyes, proportionate build, two scars on right forearm, one on left thumb and side of cheek, side of eye ; he says he was born at Glasgow, served several years in the Horse Artillery, and a hairdresser by trade ; that he recently resided at Notting- hill, where he had a shop. There were found on him three razors, two with black handles, one stained horn, on one ' W. V. R., 518'; pair of scissors, two combs and a hair brush. Absconded charged under warrant wit fraud : LEWIS GREENE FULLAGAR, coroner for East Sussex, about 47 or 48 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, very near sighted, hair, whiskers, and moustache dark brown, figure slight, very thin face, round shouldered, and stoops when walking, late of St. Andrews Lane, Lewes, single ; genererally dresses in a dark cloth suit, black high silk hat. Information to the Chief Constables Office, orgto Mr. Superin- tendent Osbon, Lewes, Sussex.— Bow- st., July 9. Description of CHARLES HUGGINS, labourer, of Conningsby Moor, charged under a warrant with subornation of perjury : he is 61 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, grey hair and whiskers down sides of face, shaved under chin, he is rather stiff built, and has a swaggering gait; sup- posed dressed in an old dark coat, patched, cord trousers patched on knees, black billycock hat; has a bundle with him containing an old black dress coat, a pair of black cord trousers, and a pair of strong lace- up boots ( right boot toe supposed to be cut), supposed to be wearing the latter. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Truelove, County Police Station, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 9' Remanded until 16th" instant, charged with stealing a lady's black cloth Jacket from a draper shop in Ripon : ANN MALLON, a widow, 50 years of age, short), thin built, small thin face, small scar light side of forehead ; dressed in brown winsey dress, black and red plaid shawl, black crape bonnet ; a hawker of fish, states she is known at common lodging houses in Leeds, Doucaster, Newcastle and Sunder- land. Information to Mr. Superintendent Metcalf, City Police Office, Ripon, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 9. Committed for trial at the Assizes, for stealing Nine Shillings from a shop at Hereford : MARY ANN WEST, Galway, Ireland, 29 years of age, 5 feet 2J inches high, oval iace, fresh completion, dark hair, grey eyes, stout build, cut on knuckle forefinger of right hand, long burn marks on left thumb, and burn on left side of neck. And MARY ANN THOMAS, widow, Dublin, 50 years of age, 5 feet high, oval face, fresh complexion, grey eyes, medium build, and seal's over both eyes. Information to Head Constable Davies, City of Hereford.— Bow- street, July 7. Remanded till 11th instant, at Portmadoc, charged with larceny from the person at Cricceith Fair : a man who gives the name of THOMAS SEDDINGTON, about 59 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, swarthy complexion, grey hair and whiskers, brown eyes, left wrist bandaged the bone being broken, he is very asthmatical; dressed in dark brown cloth monkey jacket, velvet collar, dark cloth vest, reddish colour corduroy trousers, grey cloth hat, lace- up boots with eyelet holes. He states he has no home. Information to the Chief Constable's Office, Carnarvon.— Bow- street, July 7. • MISCELLANEOUS IOTORMATIOMS. Description of the body of a female child, found in the river Humber, near Goxhill Haven, on 5th instant : about 3 years of age, dressed in brown slip, light frock, white petticoat, a check ditto, unbleached calico chemise, and elastic- side boots. Appeared to have been in the water 3 weeks. At the inquest, a verdict of ' found drowned ' was returned. Information to Inspector Ward, Barton, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, July 9. Absconded from the North Lancashire Reformatory : MICHAEL CONROY, absconded on Easter Monday, 15 years of age, 4 feet 3 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes ( squints), slender nose, fresh complexion, round face, bald top of head, scar above left elbow, boil mark on chin, round white mark above right ear, sore eyes, slightly hollow behind head, a real Irish, face, sings nicelv. Parents, Francis and Mary Conroy, School Croft, Sheffield. Believed to be in the neighbourhood of Sheffield. EDWARD RILEY, 15 years of age, 4 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, bottom lip cut ( bleeds occasionally), dimple in left cheek, slightly pockmarked, hole in left foot below the ankle which sometimes makes him limp, slightly bow- legged, mark of burn under leftside of chin. £ tepfa her, Holland Airey, 12, Talbot- street, Rippcn len- road, Oldham. Grandmother, Alice France, 4, Livsey- street, Huddersfield- road, Oldham. Riley lived with his grand- mother, Alice France, at Padiham, for about 12 years previous to his coaviction. This boy and Dunderdale are supposed to " be either at Blackpool or Southport. WILLIAM. DUNDERDALE, 16 years of age, 4 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, sore on right leg, mark under chin, sdar on right eyebrow, little finger of right hand broken, Indian ink pricked in little spots on'left arm. Father, Thomas Dunderdale, 27, Robert- street, Preston. Biley and Dunderdale absconded together on the morning of 5th May, 1879. They went to Padiham and from thence to Bury, one of them has relations either at Blackpool or Southport. MARK MADDISON, described in tho Police Gazette of 27th ultimo, is captured. £ 1 reward and Expenses paid for the capture of each body.
