INFORMATIONS. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Llangollen, on 11th instant: a s'lver lever hunting Watch, maker Thomas Heywood, Wrex- ham, No. 5762. Information to Mr. Superintendent Wilde, Wrexham, or to Inspector Humphreys, Llangollen, Denbigh- shire.— Bow- street, April 18. Stolen from the person at Heathfield Fair- on 14th instant, an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, outside case worn very thin, No. 6666, maker ' Brown, London'; also a Bag, contain- ing a Half- Sovereign and 4s. in Silver; the Bag has since been found. Information at the Head Constable's Office, Lewes, to the Superintendent, or to Deputy Chief Constable Waghorn, Hailsham, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 18. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 21st instant, at Ruskington : two pairs of men's Boots, one pair new elastic- sides with white buttons, the other lightly nailed with three rows in middle, partly worn, and had new elastics recently put into them. Two tramps were seen near the house and are suspected, both are about 25 years of age, and about 5 ft. 5 or 6 inches high ; one dressed in dark suit and black billy hat ; the other, brownish suit aud brown cap ; one said he was a tailor and hawks needles aud pins, and had a pedlar's certificate in the name of ' Wm. Wise.' Previous to the rob- bery they inquired the road to Hull, and Grimsby, and were traced going in that direction. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Stevenitt, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.— Boiv- st., April 25 Betwe.- n 6 and 8 p. m., on 20th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Evan Maddock, at Llansamlet, was entered : a gentle- man's large size engine- turned gold lever Watch, gold dial, open face, crystal glass, gold hands, with shield and garter at the back, No. 18860, marked inside dome ' X. G. S.' crown, ' 18. J. T. W. 16860,' and nearly new ; a cable pattern gold Albert Chain, each link Hall marked ' 18 carat,' with appen- dage, a round Seal on a swivel, with a stone of different colour, one side dark green, the other dark blood stone ; and £ 42 in Gold and the Contents of a child's money box ; the property of the said Mr. Evan Maddock, were stolen therein. Information to Mr. Superintendent Ilowlett, County Consta- bulary Office, Neath, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, April 25. Stolen from the house of a gentleman in Bolton, during the night of 22ud instant, by means of burglary : a long dark brown Overcoat, liued with black alpaca or black Italian cloth, single breasted, two pockets aud ticket pocket outside, and oue inside left breast, aud black buttons ; a dark grey single- breasted Overcoat, black cloth buttons, two pockets and ticket pocket outside, and one inside left breast, lined with black Italian cloth ; a long light mixture cloth single- breasted • Ov. rcoat, three pockets outside, and one inside left breast, lined with grey Italian cloth, and trimmed with light bone buttons, in oue of the pockets was a red and black spotted silk Pocket- handkerchief; a pair of man's double- soled elastic- side Boots, toe- capped ; a pair of youth's lace- up Boots, with hooks half way up, and newly soled ; a mulberry- • colouied silk Scarf ; and two men's white linen Shirts, one dotted with small red and black spots, and the other with the shape of horses heads thereon. All the articles are in good condition. Information to Chief Constable Holgate, Borough Police Office, Town Hall, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Aprd 25. During the night of 23rd instant, the hou'e of John Seymour, at Chatham, Kent, was burglariously broken and entered, and stolen therein ; a pair of Opera Glasses, in black case ; a black silk Umbrella, and a quantity of stamped Envelopes. Information to Mr. Superintendent Coppinger. Kent Constabulary, Chatham.— Bow- street, April 25. Mark Emberson, at Pattiswick, beerseller, was burglariously entered, and £ 17 in Gold ( principally half- sovereigns) and £ 3 in Silver and Copper stolen therein, the money was in a red leather Purse, with elastic fastening; an old dark drabet Bag; a blue striped Bag, made with a piece of shirting ; and a Small brown calico Bag, with string slide. By two men, one tall, dressed in black hat, dark coat, light fustian or cord trousers, and red handkerchief over his face. The other dressed in black hat, short jacket, light fustian or cord trousers, and light handkerchief over his face. Information to Mr. Superintendent May, Police Station, Witham, Essex. — Bow- street, April 25. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Pantglas, Selattyn, between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m. 23rd instant : a grey tweed mixture Jacket, two pockets outside on hips, one inside left breast; a pair of Trousers, fall fronts, same material; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fall front ; a pair of elastic- side Boots, plain toecapped, man's size, nearly new ; a white cotton pocket Handkerchief ; and 2 white dimity muslin Aprons. Supposed by a man, about 35 or 40 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in dark grey jacket, cord trousers, and black hat. Had the appearance of a farm labourer. Information to Mr. Superin tendont Gough, or Sergeant Morris, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, April 25. "'*"• , Between 11 p. m. on 21st and 5 a. m. ou 22nd instant, the residence of Philip Henry Keay, of Little Sutton, Cheshire, was burglariously entered and stolen therein : an old grey mixture tweed shooting Cisat with four outside and two inside pockets ; a pair of man's lace- up Boots, nearly new, with toe- caps, eyelet holes, and hooks ; a woollen Shirt; a flannel Singlet; three silver Table Spoons, marked ' F.' on handle ; two electro- plated Dessert Spoons, with a Lion crest; two electro- plated Tea Spoons, Lion crest; an electro - plated Mustard Spoon ; three large electro- plated Forks ; two small electro- plated Forks ; a white glass Ink Bottle, 2 inches square, with silver top ; and a tortoiseshell Snuff Box, in lid of which were iulaid several curls of Hair, and an egg shaped gold Ring, inside of which was a pearl Ring, and within this the letters ' J. F.' in blue enamel; size of Box about 4J ins. by 3- J ins. Information to Mr. Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Birkenhead, Cheshire— Bow- strczt, April 25. During the morning of 15th instant, the ' White Horse Hotel, Tamworth, was broken into, and stolen therein : a meerschaum Pipe, with amber mouth piece ; a grey Overcoat, two pockets outside and one inside ; 4 silver Table Spoons ; 5 silver Tea Spoon ; 2 silver plated Tea Spoon3; a Dessert Spoon, marked ' C. B.;' and about 2s. worth of Coppers. Information to Inspector McCrca, Tamworth, Staffordshire. Bow- street, April 23. During the night of 20th instant, the house, of Mr. John Butter, Hatcham, Sussex, was entered, and stolen therein silver- plated fish Slice and Fork, ivory handles, slightly discoloured; a child's small silver Mug, lined with gold child's small silver Knife, Fork, and Spoon, marked ' A. M. B.'; a silver mustard Spoon, marked ' T. L. L.'; a silver Teaspoon a pair of sugar Tongs ; a silver sugar Sifter, lined with gold. Information to Mr. Superintendent Baldwin, H& tcham, near Brighton, or any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, ipril 23. Between 10 p. m. 19th instant, and 8 a. m. 20th instant, the warehouse of Messrs. Witton, Brothers, wholesale grocer's, at 8, Mill- lane, Blackburn, was broken into, aud about 10 or 12 lb. of Caper Tea ; two sample Tins, 5 inches by 3 inches, 1] inches deep, one stamped on top ' W. B. M. | 2. other ' W. B. M. | 3 ; a number of sample Parcels, wrapped in blue paper, containing Sugar, Rice, and Currants ; and a 2 lb. can of pickled Peaches were stolen therein. The offender or offenders left behind them a piece of new blue and white small check calico. Information to Chief Constable Potts, Blackburn.— Bow- street, April 23. stealing therein a brown mixture tweed cloth round Jacket, man's size, with three pockets outside, and maker's name— ' Stone and Foster, London,' on a small patch behind ; a brown mixture cloth morning Coat, man's size, with dark bone but- tons, and three pockets outside ; a brown mixture twee « l cloth shooting Coat, plaid pattern, with three pockets outside and flat bone buttons, all partly woru ; a papier macho Cruet- Staud with gilt round the bottom ; a cloth Brush, mahogany back ; two black lead Brushes ; a table Knife, ivory handle ; and an electro- plated Fork, fiddle pattern : a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, swarthy complexion, dark brown hair, rough beard, walked with slouching gait; dressed in flat topped cloth cap, and rough dark blue pikrt coat. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bent, County Police Office, Old Trafford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 18, HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Coombe Park, Lynton, Devon, on 21th ult. : a small Exraoor mare Pony, about 12£ hand* high, dark bro :? n long tail, tips of the ears docked off, branded under the saddle ' R. B.' very wide behind, and has au awkward straggling gait when looked at from behind, having been ridden when young by too heavy a weight. Information to Mr. Superintendent Yaughan, Devon Constabulary, Barn - stable.—- Bow- street, April 25. Stolen from a field in Dorchester, Oxon, during the night of 23rd instant : ten fat Oxfordshire Down Sheep, Ewes, Tegs, and Wethers. Information to Deputy Chief Constable, County Police Station, Oxford.— Bow- street, April 25. Stolen from a field at Build was, during the night of 21st instant : 10 ewe Sheep, of the Shropshire breed, pitch marked on each side, ' S. R.' which is nearly obliterated, the property of Mr. Samuel Ridley. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Iron Bridge, Salop.— Bow- street, April 25. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of the man described in the Police Gazette of 15th instant, whose name is WILLIAM MEEK, a fish hawker, rag and bone collector, Norwich, who absconded ou 14th instant, supposed to Hull, Grimsby, Lowestoft, or Great Yarmouth., Informa- tion to Mr. Superintendent Symonds, East Dereham, Norfolk, who holds a warrant.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen on 21st instant, from a field at Buildwas : 10 Ewe Shropshire breed Sheep, marked on each side ' S. R.' in pitch, the mark nearly grown out, the property of Samuel Ridley. • Information to D'. iputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or Sergeant Turner, Ironbridge.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen from a field at Ketley Bank, during the night of 19th instant : a dark brown horse Pony, about L3 hands high, 2 years old, very long tail, no shoes on, and in good condition, the property of William Mathews, of Ketley Bank. Informa- tion to Chief Superintendent Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Merricks, Oakengates.— Bow- street, April 23. Found straying in Slough, Backs, on 12th instant, and supposed to have been stolen: a bay nag Mare, aged, 15 hands high, black mane and tail, lame in the off fore foot ( which is enlarged), off hind fetlock white, a few white saddle marks, and a small white blaze down forehead. Information to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, April 21. Found at Bletchingley, Surrey, about 14th ultimo ( sup- posed stolen) : a dark brown horse Pony, 11J hands higb, blind with off eye, two white spots on near side, saddle marks on back, in good condition, and four good shoes on. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Bedford, Surrey Constabulary,- Godstone.— Bow- street, April 18. During the night of 15th instant, the residence of James Hopkins, Esq , Watford New Town, was broken into, and a silver Sugar Spoon, marked ' J. H.' was stolen therein. Also on the same night the residence of Dr. John Attfield, Langley- rd., Watford New Town, was broken into, and^ stolen therein : a broken glass Smelling Bottle, with silver ends ; 2 gold red cornelian Seals, face engraved ' J. A.'; a silver Moorish Wedding Ring ; a ease of glass Models of precious Stones, each model about an inch long, and half an inch thick, they were models showing the colour and the natural crystalline form of such gems as tlie diamond, emerald, sapphire, ruby, amethyst, & c., to the number of 18, the case was an ordinary jewellers trinket case, 18 inches long, 6 inches wide, aud inch thick when closed, the models were let into the velvet inside, and in front of each was a fixed ivory label, with the respective names engraved. Information to Mr. Superintendent Isgate, Police Station, Watford, Herts.— Bow- street, April 23. Between 11 and 12 p. m. 15th instant, Billinge Scar House, the residence of Daniel Thwaites, Esq., M. P., was burglariously entered, and a linen Cover foi a timepiece stolen therein. Stolen between 10 p. m. on 17th, and 7' 30 a. m. on 18th inst., from the provision shop of Mr. Henry Pemberton, 84, King- street, Blackburn : about £ 7 in copper Money. Information to Chief Constable Potts, Police Office, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- st., April 21. Wanted for breaking into an office at Miles Platting, About 1 a. m, on 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of I between 6 p. m. on 10th and 10 a. m. on 13th instant, and LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen ou 19th instant, from Belmont House, near Hereford, the property of C. E. Wegg- Prosser, Esq. : a dark brown Overcoat, velvet collar, four pockets outside, and one inside, brown silk linings, torn at the back, also been torn below the outside pocket, and neatly sewn up, maker's name below the collar ' Meyers and Mortimer,' also ' Charles E, Wegg- Prosser,' a return Railway Ticket in one pocket from Hereford to Paddington. By MORRIS alias PHILIP MAIRS, who called at the house the same evening with a begging letter : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slim built, pale complexion, brown hair, light brown hair under chin, no moustache ; dressed iu dark coat and vest, and black cloth trousers, all much worn, low hard hat, and Oxford shoes, worn dowli at sides ; a lump between eye- brows on forehead, anchor on one hand, supposed left; he is in the habit of calling on catholic priests with begging letters. Information to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Shirehall, Hereford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, April 25. Absconded on 22nd instant, charged with . stealing : a green silk Dress ; ten yards drab russel Cord ; an unbleached Sheet, new ; a calico Bed- gown ; three Chemises ; two pairs 0f cotton Drawers ; and a white Petticoat: a woman, 19 years 0f age, 4 feet 6 iuches high, swarthy complexion, dark bait- ed eyes; dressed in long black cloth jacket, trimmed with ^ lack fur, drab skirt, black felt hat, trimmed with black aud ^ ilt feather.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, April 25. Absconded from Shrewsbury, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: GEORGE DARLINGTON, clerk to coal merchant, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, pro- portionate built, florid complexion, fair hair, sandy whiskers, small moustache, the end of one of the fingers on right hand blunted from an injury; dressed when last seen in dark round jacket, dark cord trousers, and soft billycock hat. In- formation to Head Constable Davies, Borough Police Office, Shrewsbury, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— — Bow- street, April 25. Stolen from the dwelling- house of John Hudsom 65, Belgrave- street, Balsall Heath, near Birmingham, duriifg the evening of 20th instant ; a £ 50 Note of the Birmingham Limited Bank Company, No. ( 39.) 86,193, dated ' Bttam, 16 May,| 1876' ; £ 10 in Gold ; and about £ 10 in Silver coin. Supposed by three men— one about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black tuft of whiskers under chin, and shaved down sides of face ; dressed in a dark rough overcoat, and black billycock hat ; the other men were much shorter and appeared to have recently worked in a factory. - Information to Mr. Superintendent Dowdeswell, King's Heath, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen about 10.45 p. m. on 21st instant, from a child, 8s. 6d. in Silver. By a man about 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair ; dressed in a black jacket, light grey trousers and vest, round billycock hat, and laee- up boots. Information to Sergeant Asbury, Smethwick, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, April 23. Charged ou a warrant with larceny by bailee READING JOHN BENNETT, late of Saltburn- by- Sea : he is about 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark brown hair, brown moustache, no whiskers, upper front teeth rather large ( sup- posed false) and one broken out, a slender figure, and a native of Newark, Notts, where his mother resides. He is accom- panied by his wife who is about 22 or 23 years of age, rather below the middle height, slender figure, fresh looking and wears spectacles, 1] and had a child 4 or 5 months old. Infor- mation to Mr. Superintendent Clarkson, North Riding Con- stabulary, Guisborough, or to Inspector Allen, Police Station, Loftus- in- Cleveland, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen from a new building at Milton Ernest on 14th instant : a Mortice Gauge ( recovered), and a Smoothing Plane, with ' A. Kinnard' stamped ou it; the property of Thos. P. Green. By a tramping carpenter who called and asked for work, and pawned the Guage at Bedford in the name of ' Fletcher.' He is 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 ins. high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and sandy whiskers ; dressed in dark mixture clothes, white apron tied round his waist, hard felt hat, short brown leggings, old shoes out at the sides, and was making his way to London. Information to Mr. Superintendent Caruthers, Shambrook, Bedfordshire. — Bow- street, April 23. Description of EDWARD HOLMES, alias KNACKER NED, who absconded from Newchapel, on 17th instant, charged with stealing a quantity of Iron and pit Roping ( recovered) : from 45 to 48 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, cut short, medium build, round shouldered, and rather deaf. Travels about buying old iron, and attends fairs, dealing in old screw horses. Is well known amongst low horse dealers in Cheshire and Shropshire. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hall, Police Office, Tunstall; to Sergeant Evans, Bradley Green ; or to Sergeant Macronyr. Kidsgrove, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 23. Description of WILLIAM GREVATT, charged on warrant with embezzling Money, belonging to Mr. Avery, a potato merchant, of Brighton : he is about 27 years of age, about 5 feet - 7 inches high, round face, fresh complexion, few fair whiskers, stoutly made, and dark hair. Information to Chief, Constable Barnden, Brighton, Sussex. — Bow-, Apr il 21. Stolen on the morning of 17th instant, from a shop in Cambridge : a C » sh Box, containing— 1 lady's small gold Watch, maker Reed, Cambridge, with small pattern long gold Chain, had a silver Pencil- case and a gold Locket attached, with a photo of a lady, and the words ' In Memory ' outside. 1 lady's gold Ring, set with a turquoise and two pearls, with a magnifying glass under the stones, with the figure of a woman in a nude state in it. I lady's gold regard Ring, set with five stones, one missing. 1 lady's gold Ring, twisted or anchor pattern, very old. 1 gentleman's gold Ring, set with a ruby. 1 gold Pin, formerly a stud, set with some stones, imitation diamonds. 1 gold Pin, set with hair, formerly a brooch. 1 pair of small gold Ear- drops, shape of a leaf, with small pearls in centre. 1 gold rimmed Brooch, set with pearls, size of a florin. 1 Scotch pebble Brooch, without a pin. 1 coral Brooch, with silver back, pin broken. 1 gold oval- shaped Locket, with blue face, and hair at back. 1 old Snuff Box, silver lid, shell bottom, gilt lining, with initials on lid. 2 silver- plated Buckles, one new, one old. 1 old metal Seal, with light blue stone, ' J. C.' on it. 1 sealskin Purse, blue silk lining. I morocco Ditto, with green lining, had initials inside ' M. A. S.' 1 Cheque for £ 30, on the London and County Bank, drawn by Philip E. Gray, payable to Mary Ann Saunders, and dated between 4 and 5 years since. By a man, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair inclined to curl, small moustache, whiskers, and features, and of respectable appearance; dressed in high hat, dark clothes, with overcoat. The Box has been recovered. Information to Chief Constable Turrall, Cambridge.— Boa- street, April 21. A warrant has been issued at Chester for the arrest of RICHARD HENRY GREENWOOD, for stealing a large quantity of brass Fittings ( recovered) : he is a smith by trade, 41 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, cut mark left side of neck, lost front upper teeth, fourth finger of right hand has been injured, and seal on right groin ; dressed in dirty old clothes, and a piece cut out of one boot to ease bunion. Three times previously convicted of larceny. Information to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester. — Bow- street, April 18. A boot and shoe shop at Lancaster, was broken and entered, between 10 p. m. on 12th, and 8 a. m. on 14th instant, and stolen therein : three pairs of ladies 5 size XW glove kid elastic Boots, machine sewn ; a pair of lady's 5 size XW kid button morocco Vamps; a pair of lady's 5 size glove kid button hand sewn Fore Part; a pair of lady's 5 size levant Balmoral; a paii of lady's 5 size glove Kid, elastic seam to toe, made of French lasts ; a pair of lady's 4 size levant Balmorals : a pair of lady's 7 size levant Balmorals ; a pair ef lady's 5 size Kid Buttoned ; a pair of lady's 6 size kid Balmorals ; a pair of lady's 5 size Glove Kid, patent toecaps, strip across ; a seal- skin Jacket, with sable trimming; a gold Geneva Watch ; a blue serge Coat and Vest; a blue Guernsey, with ' L. F. B. C.' on the chest; and a Coat and Trousers, thick Scotch tweed short cut coat, with four pockets outside, trousers of same material, but rather different pattern. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS, On 21st instant the dead Body of a man unknown was found in a field in Byley- cum- Yatehouse, near Middlewich, Cheshire, which appeared to have been dead about 24 hours ; he was without shoes, coat, or hat, and was dressed in cotton cord trousers, black vest with horn buttons, cotton striped shirt, and blue necktie; a blue cloth overcoat with velvet collar, torn up the back, was found in the field near the body. Description of CUNDRICK JONES, Reg. No. 3223, who has left the Wigan County Police District, without notifying his intention to the Police : he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3i inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, small scar on forehead, scar left thumb and back of left hand, small scar right arm, scar left breast and one top of right foot, aud a moulder by trade.
