SJotiee.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may he mace and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. *** Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that information should bo made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the 02' ence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, oil tetters addressed to the Editor must prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. BEU2. BBR AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found on 17th instant, in a plantation adjoining the highway, between Windsor and Winkfield, the dead Body of a newly- born male child, wrapped in a coloured petticoat, trimmed with red, a white petticoat, a kitchen apron, a small apron, a pair of coloured stockings, white stripes round the leg, a portion of the ' Echo' newspaper, dated ' Friday, 30th November, 1877,' and a portion of the ' Daily Telegraph,'' dated ' Thursday, February 19th, 1878.' A staylace was found tied four or five times round the neck ; the body was in a very decomposed state. At the inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder was returned against some person or peisons un- known.' Absconded from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, charged with forgery : WILLIAM LEIVESLEY, was in business at Worksop, as an innkeeper, hay, straw and coal merchant up to 20th mstant; he is 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, pale complexion, prominent eyes, brown hair and slight moustache ; supposed dressed in a blue pilot cloth jacket, dark cloth vest, and brown cloth trousers; was seen at Whitwell, Derbyshire, at 12 p. m. on 20th instant, and is supposed to be making his way for Eckington, Chesterfield, Sheffield, or Rotherham, at which places he is well known. Further information respecting the dark iron grey or blue roan Mare, stolen from West Harnham. near Salisbury, on the night of 7th instr. nt; the property of Mr. Roe, and advertised in Police Gazette of 11th instant: the Mare has been traced to Broad Hinton, Cricklade, and Cirencester, going in the direction of Cheltenham, in the possession of a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet (> inches high,' red face, sandy hair, whiskers and moustache, and chiii shaved ; dressed in a brown coat, with pockets at sides, dark close- fitting troupers, and vest, same material, brown leather gaiters, and hard bowler hat. He carried a light coloured macintosh on his arm. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the recovery of the Mare and conviction of the thief. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sterne, Devizes, Wiltshire.— Bow- street, June 25. Stolen from a field in South Muskham, Nottingham between 7 sum. and 7 p. m., on 1st instant: a light bay Horse, about half- bred, 4 years old, 15- i hands high, with white star on forehead, and one white hind fetlock, the property of Mr. Edward Greenberry. £ 5 reward will be paid to any one giving information leading to the recovery of the horse, and conviction of offender or offenders. Absconded on or about 4th instant, charged with stealing a Cow : JOHN HAYS, a butcher, 23 years of age, 5 ft. 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, inclined to ginger ; dressed in a dark blue sr. rtout coat, dark vest and trousers, black hard felt hat, is of respectable appearance and good address, a single man, and a native of this- neighbour- hood. Stolen on 25th instant, from New Park- road, Brixton a dark chesnut Mare, 14 hands 2 or 3. inches high, hair rubbed Sunningdale, the property of A. T. Longhurst, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 20th Mav last; he gives the name of CHARLES RALPH, 30 tears of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, light eyes, dark hair, tinged with grey, thin on too of head, small whiskers on sides of face, no moustache, board shaved,' and has lost a front upper tooth. States he is groom, and has worked at uifevnt mews in London ; wears 2 POLICE GAZETTE. June 14 a hard felt - retrnd crowned hat, and is shabbily dressed. Stolen from a field at Thorpe, near Ashbourne, sometime, between' 8th and 13th instant : six ewe Sheep and seven Lambs, the sheep are marked with pitch and ruddle on right hip, the property of Mr. Thomas Gould. Stolen from Bilson Green, near Cinderford, Gloucester- shire, about 4th instant : a 2- year old dark brown mare Pony, about 12£ hands high, in good condition, star on forehead, white mark across the nostril, tail cropped near the hocks, letter ' T' stamped in hoofs, and newly shod. £ 2 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to its recovery. Description of JOHN PENRY, late of Cheltenham, Llanelly, breconshire, labourer, charged on warrant with embezzlement: about 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 § inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, grey . eyes, proportionate build, of slovenly appearance, and has a scar - on front of left thigh ; generally dressed as a poor labourer, and a native of Herefordshire, supposed ( Ewias Harold). Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Evans, Breconshire Constabu- lary, Crickhowell, or to Sergeant Joseph, Brynmawr Police Station, Breconshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, June 28. Absconded from Thatcham, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 2,1 10s. in Gold, and l! Js. lOd. in Silver; the monies of Henry Newport : JOHN ALDRIDGE, 19 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sunburnt complexion, full face, fair " hair, rather stout figure, sear on forehead, Indian j ink marks on two fingers of one hand, walks upwright, a labourer, and a native " of Burghfield, near Reading; dressed when he abscon led in white slop, dark striped trousers, torn at one knee, old boots m ich worn, and black billycock hat. Was traced from Midgham Station to Reading by the first up train on 24th instant. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent Bennett, Berks Constabulary, Newberry, who holds the wairant. — Bow- street, June 28. ! Description of JOHN ELIOTT, of Mortimer. Berks, charged witli fowl stealing and assaulting P. C. William Mearing, on 24th instant: he is about 43 years of ages, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout, powerfully built, fresh complexion, dark hair, cut shore, turning grey, clean shaved ; dressed in a dark pilot coat, grey vest, black cloth trousers, soft black bi'lycock hat, red handkerchief round neck, and lace- up boots ; his clothes supposed to be bloodstained from a cut across his forehead, received while struggling with the constable. In- formation to be given to Inspector Pocock, County Police Station, Reading, Berks, who holds a arrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, June 28. Stolen about 3 a. m. mi 2 itfe instant, from the Alexander public- house, St. Alban's : a pair of man's elastic- side Boots ; a black cloth Jacket, trimmed with fringe round the bottom ; two black straw Hats ( women's), one trimmed with roses and scarlet feather, the other trimmed with black up the side. By a man who slept in the house, about 30 years of age, 5 ft. 5 inches high, brown hair, whiskers and moustache, inclined to sandy ; dressed in a black alpaca coat, dark mixture trousers and vest, black deerstalker hat, and side- spring boots. Infor- mation to be given to the Head Constable, City Police, St. Albans, Hertfordshire.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen between 10 p. m. 16th and 3 p. m. 23rd instant, from the dwelling- house of James Williams, Abergavenny, the property of Thomas Morris : a gold Geneva lever open face Watch, white, dial, sunk seconits, jewelled in 10 holes, Brega balance spring, p'ain case, with horse's head engraved in middle, and ' Thomas Morris' on inside of case, a gold albert Chain attached ; a black cloth double- baeasted Waist - coat; and a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly fronts, and lined with white calico. By ARTHUR HACKETT, a brewer's labourer, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pro- portionate figure, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, and whiskers on Side of face ; dressed in a suit of light grey clothes, and black bowler hat. Respectable appearance. Supposed to belong to Burton- on- Trent, where his father resides. Left Abergavenny by train on 20th, for Button Station. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, < or to Mr. Superintendent Freeman, County Constabulary, Abergavenny, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 26. Description of MARY ANN CATT, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 7 in Gold, the monies of her father, from high Bank, Ore, Sussex : she is 19 years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, slight figure, a servant ; dressed in a long black jacket, trimmed with black fur, light felt hat, with a red rose in front, and black dress ; she left her father's house in company of a woman named Mary Burton, who leads a gay life.: she has a child with her, about 2 years old, 28 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair and eyes, slight figure, and a native of Hastings ; dressed in black, sometimes has got a. light dress ; supposed to be in the neigh- bourhood of Forest Hill, London, or Brighton. Information to be given to mr. Superintendent Dennis, Guestling, Hastings, Sussex. - Bow- street, June 26. Stolen from Middlesbrough, on 7th instant: a silver lever Watch and Chain ( recovered). By JOSEPH JURY, alias KING, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, hazel eyes, black hair, swarthy complexion, long thin face, long nose, arms aud wrists tattooed with figures of females, ships, flags, bracelets, & c. ; dressed in a long dark rough top coat, four pockets outside, old grey trousers, and biaek billycock hat. He is a native of Kent, and has resided at Greenwich, Gravesend, and other parts of London, Sometimes works as a labourer in shipyards, but for the last few years has been mostly employed about theatres and music halls. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen on night of 19th instant, from the railway stations at llandenny and Raglan : a few Shillings in Copper Money. Supposed by a mau with a number' of blood spots on has trouwws ; he is wearing a coat with oval dirty drab stuff butisens, | of an inch across. Information to be given to Mr, Superintendent Freeman, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Abergavenny.— Bow- street, June 24. Stolen - from the dwelling house of Dr. Augustus B. Fry, set York Town, Frimley, on afternoon of 20th ins. : a silver Cup, • about 10 ins. high, with inscription ' Presented to Captain A. B. Fry, on the occasion of his marriage, November 11th, 1875.' Supposed by two tramping tailors, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high ; dressed in light clothes, and black felt hat; the other, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high ; dressed in black overcoat, black high hat, and cricket shoes. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hibberd, Surrey Constabulary, Farnham.— Bow- street June 24.
