INFORMATIONS. hunting Watch, value £ o. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent OKiil, Kent County Constabulary, Sevenoaks. — Bow- street, May 13. Description of a man, name unknown, charged with com- mitting a highway robbery, on 6 th instant, at Thorrington, near Clacton- on- Sea, Essex : he is about 21 or 22 years of age,_ from 5 feet 4 to 6 inches high, thin visage, upper jaw projecting, brown hair, fair complexion, no whiskers, and speaks with a peculiar impediment, as if his tongue was too large for his mouth; dressed in a white hoiland slop, buttoned down the front and pockets on each side ( outside), dark worsted cord trousers, Blucher boots, dark cap with cheesecutter peak, and had the appearance of a respectable labourer, his clothing having a newish appearance. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Daunt, County Police Station, Colchester, Essex.— Bow- st., May 13. three Cushions covered with blue cloth, and o) ic driving do., covered with black cloth, plain leather Apron, lined with blue serge. By 2 men, one about 5 feet 11 inches higb : dressed in dark clothes, aud high hat. The other much shorter, ami also dressed in dark clothes. They were traced in the direction of Loncjon. £ 20 reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of the offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to bo given to the Chief Constable of Aylesbury, or to Mr. Superintendent Sargent, County Police Station, High Wycombe, Bucks.— Bow- st., May 17. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. About 12 p. m. on 9th instant, two men were met by Police Constables Thomas Child, and Joseph Seats, at Quedgley, near Gloucester, when they fired at the Constables with revolvers, wounding the latter in the left knee : one, 34 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stout build, dark heavy whiskers and moustache, dark complexion; dressed in a blue monkey jacket, dark trousers and a black soft bowler liat with a gold Idbert chain suspended across the waistcoat; the other, 20 or 28 years of age, 5 ft. 10 ins. high, proportionately make, ratlr. r fair complexion, no whiskers, thick dark moustache ; dressed in a blue suit, and had the appearance of a seafaring ma?;. Absconded, charged on a warrant for forgery: SAMUEL LUCAS LANCASTER LUCAS, late of Trotterscliffe . Rectory, near Maidstone, 50 to 55 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, long, thick set, short neck ; dresses usually in dark clothes, never wears a collar, and high hat. Absconded on 1st instant, charged with uttering a forged Cheque • ARTHUR PLATTS, footman, 22 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, cheeks puffed dark brown hair and whiskers ( small), round shouldered, looks down when talking ; dressed in dark cut- away coat, dark vest aud trousers, and high hat; his father resides at Eastwoodhay, near Newbury, Hants ; he has been in service at St. Neot's, Huntingdonshire. Stolen from the perron whilst attending the Hiring Fair Church Stretton, Salop, on the evening of 14th instant : 18 - 65 Notes, viz., one of rocke, Lyton and Co., Salop Old Bank, two Bank of England Wales Bank; 1 Counterfeit, BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of burglary at Stalybridge, between 2 and 5 a. m. on 13th instant : a pair of blucher Boots, nearly new, the right boot cut over the toes ; and a rosewood Work- box, IS inches by 12, bound with gilt straps, and a white metal name plate on the top, lined with white silk inside the lid, and blue silk inside the other part of the box, containing one gold and one silver Thimble, a small pair of Scissors, and a number of reels of Thread. Entrance effected by cutting away the wood work round a square of glass in the kitchin window, and removing the glass; the thief left behind him a pair of old lace- up shoes, slit in several places in front, aud a piece of black cloth tied on to keep it on the foot, the back part having been cut away, which appear to have belonged to a regular tramp, and a man about the middle size. Stolen by means of housebreaking, front a cottage at Pentreclawdd, near Oswestry, between 2 and 5 p. m., on 4th instant : a Paisley Shawl, in good condition ; three yards of new check Shirting ; a light brown winsey Dress ; a Towel; a dark cloth shooting Coat, white specks, pockets on hips and inside left breast ; grey Shirt ( union) blue and white plaid stripes; and a pah- of lace- up Boots, brass lace holes and gutta percha soles. By three tramps, two man aud a woman, one a tall man, dark whiskers and moustache; dressed in dark coat, moleskin trousers, and hard or billycock hat ; the other a shorter man, dressed in grey jacket or slop, cotton cord trousers, cap with peak, may be wearing the stolen boots, as he was seen barefooted a short time previous, and a short woman, dressed in dark shawl and carried a baby. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing a quantity of Glass, value 7s., on 9th Mu ch last, the property of the visitors of Bicton Asylum : THOMAS HALL, about 24 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches higb, brown hair, no whiskers, small light moustache, sallow complexion, and narrow features. He is supposed to belong to Cheltenham or 8 POLICE GAZETTE. Ma rch 186 - which places he is supposed to have gone to in search of work, accompanied by his wife and three small children. Previous to coming to Bicton, he was employed at Powick ( Worcester- shire) Asylum. Description of HARRY WRAY, who absconded from Dorking on 10th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 30 6s. ( id, the monies of Walter Curry, his employer: he is 19 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair and complexion, tattooed on left arm, and has been a sailor ; dressed in a suit of blue serge, and sealskin cap. It is supposed he will endeavour to go to sea again. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Lambert, Surrey Constabulary, Dorking. — Bow- street, May 17. Absconded from Oldham, on 8th instant, charged with several acts of felony from cotton mills : an engineer, about 37 years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, slight dark whiskers, and blind left eye ; was dressed in a black cloth suit. He is accompanied by a woman named Sarah Lamb, about 26 years of age, who has a child about 5 months old with her. They have in their possession a large yellow tin Box, two bundles, and upwards of £ 100. They were traced to Blackburn on ICth instant, but have not been heard of since. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, May 17. Stolen on loth instant, from a hedge at Gyfelia, near Wrexham, the property of Mr. Dutton, farmer : two woollen Shirts, mens' size, nearly new, one striped with grey, white and brown, the other white and black plaid. Supposed by a tramp of the following description : about 5 feet 8 inches high, bent shoulders, long thin red neck, and a flush face; wore a serge jacket, dirty corduroy trousers, shoes much worn and cut at the heels, and a billycock hat. Was seen making his way towards Whitchurch, Salop. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Wilde, Police Office, Wrexham, Denbighshire.— Bow- street, May 17. Charged on' a warrant with embezzlement : ALEX. J. HARRISON, 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, moustache slight, and whiskers half way down face; dressed in grey tweed ulster, black fancy cloth frock coat and vest, very light large check pattern trousers, and dark brown felt hat; and carried a Gladstone bag; a native of Cheltenham, where he held a situation as clerk under Mr. Goden, rate collector, in 1875. Has friends residing at Tring House, Cambridge. Information to be given at the Bridewell Place Police Station, London— Sow- slrett, May 15. Stolen between 3 and 4 p. m. on 13th instant, from the dwelling- house at Fairholm, Southborough : 8 silver Table Spoons, 11 small Dessert ditto, 16 Tea ditto, 12 large Table Forks, 10 small ditto, 1 small beaded ditto, not marked; 2 electro- plated Dessert Spoons, and 2 ditto small Forks, marked ' Beeley.' By a man from 20 to 25 years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, very slight build, thin pale face, few light whiskers and moustache, and hair cut short; dressed in old black coat, dark trousers, black and white check scarf, black hard felt hat, and very light boots. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintentent Kewell, Police Station, Tunbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, May 15. Absconded from Luton, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : JAMES SCRIVENER, of Luton, labourer, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark com- plexion ; dressed in dark cap, coat, and vest, cord trousers, very shabby. Information to be given to Head Constable Jaquest, Luton, Beds.— Bow- street, May 13. Stolen from an unfinished building in Millbrook, Hants, during the night of 6th instant : a Spirit Level, about 10 ins. long, and a bricklayer's large Trowel. Supposed by an Irish- man, who had been working there, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and dark hair ; dressed in old fustian trousers, very dirty, old ragged sleeve waistcoat, old fustian coat, with patches at the back, and old felt hat. Infor- mation to bs given to Mr. Superintendent Stannard, Bitterne, or to Sergeant Gibson, Police Station, Shirley, Hants.— Bow- street, May 13. Absconded from Newbury, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : GEORGE NEWTON, late traveller to Messrs. Wells and Co., wine and spirit merchants, 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, blue eyes, light brown hair and straight, sallow complexion ; frequently wears an eye- glass, respectably dressed, well educated. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bennett, Newbury, Berks, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, May 13. Stolen from a hovel at Foleshill, on the night of 10th instant: 3 mason's largo size Trowels, 1 small pointing Trowel, 2 bricklayer's Hammers, all marked ' W. B.' on handle ; 1 spirit Level, 8 inches long, ' W. B.' on side. Supposed by two men, one from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, slender build, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, hair on chin ; dressed in a dark or black cloth jacket with pockets on each side, Bedford corduroy trousers, hard round billy hat, and lace- up boots. The other from 30 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, light complexion, light or sandy hair and moustache, hair rather curley at back of head ; dressed in dirty light coat, much worn, reefer make, old cotton corduroy trousers, soft billy hat, dirty white neckerchief with red spots, elastic- side boots. They had the appearance of bricklayers on tramp, and had a little white terrier dog, with black spot on its back with them. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Lapwjrthj Foleshill, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, May 13. Stolen between Cleobury Mortimer and Neen Savage, on 4th instant, the property of John Caradine : two new white flannel Shirts ; a pair of new dark flannel Drawers ; two new brown slops, lined with striped lining; two pairs of new cotton Braces ; a new black soft billycock Hat; a pair of woman's lace- up Boots, the left new heeled, and the right a new patent leather, toe cap; and a Basket, which is recovered. By THOMAS KITSON, an Irishman, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, and a little whiskers at end of chin, feminine voice ; dressed in a blue slop, cord trousers, torn at bottom of right leg, black vest, black cap, or the stolen billycock hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Christie, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Gough, Cleobury Mortimer, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 13. Description of WILLIAM HERBERT, charged on warrant for embezzling £ 2 2s. 2d, the monies of Mr. John Whitley Rylance, provision dealer, Bull- street, Birmingham, on 17th ultimo : ho is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, dark hair and complexion, little whiskers on sides of face, sharp keen eyes, turns out his feet when walking ; has been employed as a grocer's porter, is known Great Barr, Wednesbury, and Westbromwich. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bond, Birmingham, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 13. Description - of MORGAN THOMAS . JONES, a clerk, charged on warrant with emblezzling £ 2 6s. 6d, the monies of Messrs. Boyle and Co, china and glass merchants, Steel- house- lane, Birmingham, on 13th ultimo : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, thin made, dark hair and com- plexion, little light whiskers on side of face, two fingers on right hand deformed, has friends residing at Etruria, the Potteries, Staffordshire, and Bristol. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bond, Birmingham, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 13. Absconded from Achleton, near Bridgnorth, on 2nd inst, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 5. : WM. LAWLEY, 21 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, rather inclined to curl, a waggoner, and a native of Dormington, near Newport, Salop, from which place he was ssnt to Quail School in 1868, and absconded from the latter place in 1870 ; dressed in dirty- white slop, cord trousers, and billycock hat. He was convicted at Southwark for stealing a shilling on 10th Feb., 1873, sentenced to 7 days hard labour ; and at Maidstone, July 19th, 1873, for stealing a pipe, to 3 calendar months hard labour ; also convicted at the Central Criminal Court on llth December, 1876, for burglary, and sentenced to 12 calendar months hard labour, and 1 year police supervision.
