I STOLEN, by means of entering at an unsecure window, on the night of the 24th or morning of the 25th instant, from a Self- contained house at Kirkton- hill, in this Burgh:— Eighteen electro- plated fruit knives with pearl handles, and embossed blades, original pattern : 18 forks to match : 18 electro- plated fish knives, solid handles and embossed blades, original pattern ; 18 forks to match; 5 large electro- plated forks, old English pattern; 6 small electro- plated forks, old English pattern; 5 electro- plated table spoons, old English pattern ; 5 dessert spoons, old English pattern ; .1 tea spoons, old English pattern; 2 electro- plated butter knives, with pearl handles and embossed blades, original pattern— Monogram, J. Ik. U.; 1 electro- plated salt- spoon, lily pattern— Monogram, J, McM.; 2 electro- plated egg spoons, lily pattern — Monogram, J. McM.; 1 toddy ladle, lily pattern— Monogram, J. McM.; electro- plated fish- slice and fork, original pattern, with Monogram, J. McM. ; and a small silver brooch, set with Cairngorm stones— ope avvanting. Police Officers are earnestly requested to search for the stolen property all likely places, and to apprehend any person or persons against whom guilt appears, and communicate at once with the Subscriber. DESCRIPTION of convict Mary Wall ( 2009) who has '•^ broken the conditions of her license in not reporting herself to the Constabulary on change of residence: Convicted at Limerick, county of Limerick, at Spring Assizes, on 12th March, 1872, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude; 40 years of age on conviction, can read, is a Roman Catholic, single, prison trade knitter, born at Newbridge, resided before conviction nt Rathkeale; light brown hair, blue eyes, light eyebrows, short ncse, large mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, feet high ; mark over left eyebrow. The above named convict was released from Mountjoy Female Prison, on the 2Srd November, 1877, on an on er of license to be at large, and took her discharge for Rathkeale, county Limerick. On the 9th instant she left Askeaton, stating that she was going to reside at Shanagolden, Ardagh, or New- castle, but she lias not reported herself to the Con- stabulary at any of these places, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act ( 1871), 81 and 05 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Lower Castle Yard, Dublin, March 27, 1878. ( 11953 M 21449.) DESCRIPTION of convict Simon Cunningham ( 2680), who has broken the conditions of his licence, in not reporting himself to the Police on change of resi- dence :— Convicted at Dublin City October Sessions, on 3rd October, 1878, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude; 46 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, married, but states he has no children, a labourer, born in Rathkeale; resided before conviction in Dublin; his friends reside in Park- street, near Francis- street; gray hair, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, short nose, ordinary mouth, wants nearly all the teeth in front of mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 4| inches high. The above- named convict was released from Lti& k Prison, on an order of licence, on the 1st September, 1877, and took his discharge for Dublin, where he resided for some time. He left his residence with- out notifying same to tbe Police, to whom he has not reported himself since the 1st December, 1877, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 6 th sec. of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 84 and 86 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Lower Castle Yard, Dublin, February 23, 1878. ( 12698 M.— 20809.) DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Curling ( 2531), who has broken the conditions of his licence in failing to notify to the Police his change of residence:— Convicted at Dublin city October Sessions, on 3rd October, 1878, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude; 46 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Protestant, single, a tutor, born in Galway; resided before conviction in College- green, Dublin ; his friends reside in county Galway; dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, sharp nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5J inches high; slightly pock- marked, a burn- mark on right cheek, along the whiskers. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 18th September, 1877, on an order of licence, and proceeded to Dublin, where he reported himself to the Police. He resided for some time in the Dublin district, but left his residence about the 1st October last, without notifying same to the Police. He has not reported himself since, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 6th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General Prisons Board, Lower Castle Yard, Dublin, December 18,1877. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin:— Charles Doyle, about 82 years old, 6 feet « inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweod trow- sers and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said be had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. DESCRIPTION of Michael Murphy alias Coen, native of Marble Hill, county Galway, - who stands charged with having, on the 20th April, 1878, at Tortadown, in ( he barony of Oneiland West, parish of Drumcrre, and county of Armagh, attempted to pick pockets at the fair of Portadown, and for pawning a pair 6f moleskin trowsers, believed to be stolen, nearly new with two small pockets in hips, such as is usualjy worn by carpenters and masons :— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 50 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a brown cloth velvet collar coat, striped tweed trowsers, and gray tweed vest. Supposed to be known in the West of Ireland. This is evidently a pickpocket who frequents fairs through Ireland, and may have eommit'ed crime elsewhere; he is remanded for inquiry until the 29th April, inst. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of Cooladerry, county Cork, E. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd March. 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Rather thort neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, snndy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. Mitchelstown, March 21, 1875. ( 6182 cr.— 9507 ) DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, oil the 30th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two ol a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place :— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years ot age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin ; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. WHEREAS it has been represented to the lord 1 leutenant, that, about the hour of 9.30 o'clock on the morning of Tuesday, the and day of April, 1878. William Sydney, Earl of Leitrim, John W. Macken or Meekan, and Charles Buchanan, were brutally murdered at Cratlagh Wood, about three miles from Millford, in the county of Donegal, by some pers ns unknown: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of - ONE THOUSAND POUNDS to aiiy person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the persons who committed the same, or any of them. And His Graca is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in or privy to the said murder, other than the persons who actually com- mitted the same, in case of liis giving such information as will lead to the conviction of the persons, or any of them, concerned in the murder aforesaid. By his Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above reward will be paid by Edmund Y. DESCBIPTION of Thomas Sheahan ( mother's surname Quirk) native. of Logavinshare, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st April, 1878, in the barony of Pubblebrien. parish of Crecora, seriously assaulted his father, Bryan Sheahan, and demanded money from him :— Slight burn mark on right cheek, has a habit of ctraighttning hiniseif ami hollowing his lack, brown eyes, regular nose, red complexion, regular face, small chin, smart make. • i feet 10 inches li'g'r, t about 22 years of age, black lair, cut short; wore a high jerry hat, black cloth , frock coat, striped trowsers and vest, Wellington boots, lud a gold watch and chain, clothing American make; \ va- in America for 3 jears, will try to go there again; was a Railway Fireman when in America. LibertieS ot Coleraine, parish of Cole- raine, stabbed John Magrath in the neck, from the effects of which he died almost immediately:— Thick lips, gray eyes, pug nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 17 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a sofc hat, dark tweed suit, check shirt, and white front. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. whereas, on the evening of the 15th ultimo, about the hour of 0 o'clock, John Sherlock, tinker, was shot dead at Curraghsallagh, in the barony of Frenchpark. in the county of Roscommon : And whereas Patrick Raftery is charged by the verdict of a Coroner's Jury, at an inquest held at Curraghsallagh, on the 18th of March, 1878, with the murder of the said John Sherlock, and a warrant for the arrest ot Patrick Raftery has been issued : I hereby offer a Reward of £ 50, to any person who shall, within six months from the da'e hereof, give such private information as shall lead to the arrest of the said patriCK raftery; and I undertake that the name* of the person who may become entitled to tbe ii wnrti shall not be disclosed.
