The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Monday, April 22, being a Bank Holiday, the " Police Gazette " will be published on Tuesday, April 23. INFORMATIONS. : MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. The dead body of a newly born female child, was found ( with a large wound on the right side of the head), on the common at Bradninch, Devon, at 1 p. m. on 13th instant, the body was found in a crinoline muslin bag, concealed under some browse or hedge pareings ; the child did not appear to have been born many hours when found. The coroner's jury have returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Collins, Devon Constabulary, Cullompton. — Bow- street, April 17. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Whereas, on the night of 9th ultimo, some person or per- sons did feloniously and maliciously set on Fire a large Hay Rick and a Straw Bick ; the property of Mr. G. D. Templeman Chiselborough, Somerset. A reward of £ 50 will be man, of paid by the Earl of Ilchester, and £ 50 by the West England Insurance Company, in addition to the sum of £ 50 previously offered by Her Majesty's Government to any per- son who will give such information and eviderce as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Depart ment will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually set the ricks , on fire, who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like results. Information to be given to Chief Constable Goold, Glastonbury, to Mr. Superintendent Smith, Police Station, Yeovil, or to Sergeant Clarke, Martock, Somerset- shire.— Bow- street, April 5. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Chilham, between 5 and 8 p. m. on 14th instant, the property of Oliver Gould : a square wooden cash Box, about a foot square, containing about £ 10 in Gold and Silver, in an old brown leather Purse, a Will, Indentures of Apprenticeship of Oliver Gould, some Insurance Policies and other valuables, a 5s. Piece amongst the money ; also two pairs of brown mixed tweed Trousers, new ; a pair of black Trousers ; a double- breasted Vest to match; a pair of grey check Trousers; a double- breasted Vest to match, the two latter suits have been worn, and the buttons on trousers have ' Gould and Son, Chilham' on them; a table Cloth; a toilet Cover; and two pairs of Sheets. Supposed by a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high; dressed in fustian suit, and old black billycock hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Noakes, Police Station, Ashford, Kent.— Bow- street, April 17. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Hope- road, Sale, between 6 and 10' 30 p. m. on 14th instant : a silver fish Knife and Fork, fiddle pattern, embossed, and engraved with letter ' B.' ; a silver cake Knife and Fork, same pattern, with letter ' B.' on handle; a plain gold Bracelet; a gold eable Bracelet; a gold mourning Brooch, set with pearls and a diamond in centre, with inscription ' Presented by an affectionate grandmother in memory of my mother'; a lady's gold guard Ring, same inscription ; a pair of long Ear- rings, bottom ornamented with gold beading in the form of the cross ; a pair of small gold Ear- rings, buttercup pattern ; a lady's gold Ring, set with a dozen pearls ; a gold Brooch, in shape of a true- lover's knot; a silver oval- sliape Locket, imitation wreath of oak leaves round edge ; a gentleman's gold guard Chain, with topaz seal.' Entrance effected by skeleton keys during the absence of the family at church. £ 5 reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Stolen by means of burglary, on the night of 12th instant, from Mennington Hall, Essex; the property of Mr. George Rodgers, farmer, & c. : 6 silver Tea Spoons, marked ' S. S. F.' 5 ditto marked' G. E. R.' 1 ditto Gravy Spoon, marked ' G. E. R.' FORGERY. Description of J. HUMPHREYS, charged with obtaining Money by means of a forged cheque : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, dissipated look, light moustache, and stout build ; dressed in l » lack frock open 3oat, black vest and trousers, high silk hat, with mourning band ; has travelled for the firm of Hogarth and Co., London, with samples of fancy jars of jam. Information to be given to Head Constable Davis, Hereford. — Bow- street, April 12. Stolen from the person, at Preston, on 4th instant : a silver lever Watch, No, 22124, with gold hinges. Supposed by two men who were seen loitering near the house the previous evening, one tall, the other short, both dark, and wearing dark clothes, the short one wearing a cheesecutter cap. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, April 15. Further particulars respecting the burglary at Mistley Place, advertised in the Police Gazette of 29tli March last: supposed committed by two men, seen at Great Tey, Essex, on 28th ult., tearing tip letters, one is about 40 yrs. of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, proportionately build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in dark round hat, dark coat, trousers not so dark as coat. The othe • is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, little or no whiskers, slight moustache, rather stout, and has scratches on face ; dressed in dirty brown cloth coat, cord or fustian trousers, black felt hat, light shoes, and was wearing a collar ; is very talkative, and appears to know his way well about the country. He carried a small parcel under his arm, done up in either a brown shawl or handkerchief, and they had the appearance of foundrymen or mechanics. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Daunt, Colchester, or to Inspector Ackers, Police Statiou, Mistley, Essex.— Bow street, April \ 5. Stolen on 11th instant, by means of housebreaking double- breasted black cloth frock Coat, pocket on each side with flaps, pocket inside left breast, three buttons on each cuff, and trimmed with narrow black braid ; a black cloth Waistcoat, roll csllar ; a black silk Scarf, 2 gold Scarf Pins, 2 Brooches, 3 plated Shirt Studs, 7 Sovereigns, aud about 18s. in Silver; the property of Mr. William Hughes, of Wroxeter. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Howells, County Constabulary Office, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Davies, Police Station, Much Wenlock, Salop.- Bow- street, April 15. bladed pocket Knife, black and white bone handle, the coat and vest were sold at Lancaster, on 22nd ultimo. By JAMES TAYLOR, 38 years of age, 5 feet 4 § inches high, dark sallow complexion, brown hair, whiskers round chin, and moustache, grey eyes, slender build, oval face, left little finger crooked, and large sore mark on left shin ; a native of Ireland ; dressed in a black cord jacket, grey tweed vest, may be wearing stolen trousers, black cap with French peak, brass button at each side ; a tailor by trade, may be found rag gathering, is under police supervision, and failed to report himself at Barrow- in- Furness, in February last. Information to be given to Inspector Shields, Police Office, Kendal, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland. — Bow- street, April 10. Stolen in Shrewsbury, by means of housebreaking, on the evening of 7th instant: an old- fashioned silver tea Spoon, engraved ' T. A. L.', chased work on edges of handle; two gold finger Rings, one set with pearls and blue stone in centre, and the other set with pearls only ; a pair of German silver Spectacles ; a bunch of Keys, various sizes ; a large size silk Umbrella, French frame, ivory handle, shape of dog's head ; an oval spape metal Medal; and 14s. in Money. By two men, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, red full face, and long sandy moustache ; the other about 43 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers round face, and turning grey ; both were dressed in dark clothes, and high hats. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsbury, Salop.— Bow- street, April 10. On 7th instant, about 2 a. m., the Miners' Arms public - house, situated at Glany Pwll, Blaenan, was broken and entered through the window, and a silver lever Watch, which had attached a silver Guard Chain and an old English Guinea and a Half Guinea ; also a bunch of Keys. The burglar left behind him a small bunch of keys. Also on the same date, about 4 a. m., the Offeran Vaults Hotel, Fout Crosses, was broken and entered and stolen therefrom : two fancy metal Tea Pots, one larger than the other ; a long douhle- breasted blue beaver cloth Top Coat, with velvet collar, trimmed with black silk covered buttons, lined with black Italian lining, an outside pocket on left side, and ticket pocket on the right, two pockets outside skirts with flaps on, in one of which there were a pair of driving Gloves, a white Muffler, a white silk Pocket Handkerchief, and several Papers, some relating to the Court of Bankruptcy and Invoices for Goods ; also a pair of light- made clamped watertight laced- up Boots, with brass eyelet holes, worn heavy on one side of heels ; also from 10s. to 12s. in Silver ; and three or four padlock Keys. A short man with soft hat, dressed in dark clothes, was seen in the Offeran Vaults with his face blackened or covered. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hughes, Towyn, Merioneth, or to Sergeant Vaughan, Four Crosses, Blaenan, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, April 10. Stolen by means of burglary at Winster, Westmorland, on 2 tst ultimo : a dark grey Coat and Vest; a pair of dark woollen cord Trousers, nearly new ; a pair of white worsted Braces, has ' Kendal' stamped on the leathers; a double HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on 15th instant : a bay mare Pony, 13 hands high, white spot on right side, answers to ' Polly'; a panel Cart, painted black, picked out with green, ' George Massey, 43, Berger- road, Homerton,' thereon ; 20 dozen pairs of Boots, sizes various, some with star and nugget on heels ; a quantity of steel sole cutters, sizes various ; 2 silver Watches, one open- face English lever, j- plate, one gilt single case verge, gilt dial ; black cloth Overcoat, pocket at side and inside left breast; dark green horse Rug and chaff Sack, ' Brett, Homerton,' thereon ; a set of pony Harness, mounted, bridle tied with wax end.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, April 17. Stolen on the night of 12th instant, from Broomhall Farm, Sunningdale : a chesnut Mare, thorough bred, aged, 14 hands 1 inch high, carries her head high ; a dog Cart, painted dark green ; two sets of brass- mounted Harness, one very good, the other not so good ; 2 or 3 Bridles ; 2 riding Saddles ; a pair of new Reins ; several articles of Wearing Apparel ; and a Timepiece. [ Suppos e 1 by a man about 25 yrs. of age, ahout 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, and clean shaved ; dressed in dark clothes and high hat. Supposed to be one of the two suspected of a similar offence at Redhill, Surrey, and advertised in the] Police Gazette of 5th instant. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Blake, Berks Constabulary, Clewer.— Bow- street, April 17. Stolen between 8 p. m. on 8th, and 6 a. m. on 9th instant, from a stable at Nags Head- lane, Enfield : a brown mare Pony, 12£ hands high, clipped, streak down face and near hind fetlock white ; a light spring Cart, painted dark green, patent axles, ' Henry Ironside, farmer, Enfield' on shaft ; and a set of old silver- plated Harness. A reward of £ 10 will iven by Henry Ironside, farmer, Enfield, to any person who will give such information that will lead to the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given at the Criminal Investigation Department.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, April 15. H Stolen from a stable at Bromyard, on 2nd instant, the property of Mr. Henry Allkius, butcher : a bay cob Horse, 6 years old, between 14 and 15 hands high, has been clipped, lame in near fore foot, has been blistered on foot and near shoulder. By a boy, 15 years of age, 5 feet high, rather slim build ; dressed in a black felt hat, brown cloth jacket, plaid trousers, wears a scarf round liis neck, and no collar. £ 2 reward will be paid to any person giving information that will lead to his apprehension, and recovery of the horse. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ovens, Police Station, Bromyard, Herefordshire,-- Bow- street, April 1?. A Further information respecting the Horse stolen from Bolas, Salop, on the night of 19th and advertized in Police Gazette of 22nd ultimo, since recovered, having been sold at Congleton, by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 ins. high, dark complexion, hair and whiskers ; dressed in black cloth coat, light brown cloth trousers, soft billycock hat, and lace- up boots ; is a little lame, splay footed, and walks with his head down in a stooping position. Supposed to be a collier and a native of Silverdale, booked by 12' 3 train on 20th ult. from Congleton to Newcastle. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Owen, Wem, Salop.— Bow- street, April 10. Stolen from the stable at Much Hoole Rectory, during the night of 7th instant : a dun- coloured Pony, 13 hands high, 5 years old, in good condition, both hind feet white, dark- coloured mouth and fore legs, saddle mark on back, and mane hangs on the wrong side ; a set of new silver- mounted Harness, with kicking strap, and monogram ' R. C. B.' Also stolen from a farm in the neighbourhood, the same night: a Shandray, with plain shaft ends. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Beetham, Ohorley, Lancashire.-— Bow- street, April 10. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen between 9 p. m. and 6 a. m. on 9th instant, from a back kitchen at Whitewell House, Llandinabo ; the property of Mr. John Lee : a pair of strong watertight Boots, cut under the lace holes to make them larger, caps on toes, and half Worn. By a tramping Irishman, who was allowed to sleep in the back kitchen during the night ; he is 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion and hair, no whiskers er moustache, and broad features ; dressed in dark suit, half worn, and billycock hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Smith, Ross, or to Sergeant Price, Harewood^ End, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, April 17. Absconded on 3rd instant, charged with theft or embezzlement: JAMES FRASER, gardener, Stobo Castle, Peeblesshire, 40 years of age, § feet 7 inches high, dark hair, long dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, a native of Nairn- shire, Scotland ; dressed in dark suit, light grey topcoat, and black dress hat; it is supposed that he will try to sail for America. Information to be given to Chief Constable Watson, Peebles.— Bow- street, April 17. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Christopher Morris' Esq., of Upton, near Chester, on 6th instant: £ 10 in Money. " 1 set of pearl amethysts, set in gold, Brooch, Ear- rings, Necklace, and Pendant. 1 set of pink topaz, Brooch, Ear- rings, Necklace, and Cross, very old- fashioned, stones in cross not quite so large. 1 yellow amethyst pearl Cross and Ear- rings, set in gold. 1 gold Watch Chain and Locket, with black enamel ctoss. 1 gold Bracelet, with pink coral. 1 ditto, with blue enamel and pearls. 1 ditto, with pearls. 1 large cameo Brooch, set in gold. 1 gold link Bracelet, with heart podlock. 1 green malachite and cameo Brooch and Ear- rings. 1 small gold. Brooch, tie with turquoises. , 1 gold Locket, set with turquoises. 1 small gold Brooch, with dark blue enamel. 2 Guineas, one Spade. Several Pins for Scarves. 2 Pencil- cases, one gold, one silver. 1 set of carbuncle Buttons. 1 set of bloodstone Buttons. 1 set of florentine mosaic Buttons. 1 French leather Jewel Case, by Bondet, of Paris, about 10 by 6, and 5 or 6 inches deep. 55 silver Spoons, twelve Table, twenty- four Dessert, twelve Tea, two Gravy, one Moist Sugar, two Tea Caddy, and two fancy. 24 Table Forks, 24 Dessert ditto. 1 Fish Slice and Fork. 1 case of Salt Cellars. 1 case of Dessert Spoons, lined with gold and embossed with pattern of different fruits. 2 Cups, one engraved, the other plain, 2 Sauce Ladles. 1 Tea and Coffee Service, engraved, consisting of Tea- pot, Coffee do., Sugar Basin, and Cream Jug. 6 pairs of small Sugar Tongs. 1 set of Ice Spoons. Silver gilt Tongs and Scoop. 1 Kettledrum Service and Tray. g, Fish and Dessert Knives and Fork?. " Porridge Bowl, Knife, Sjpoon, and FOBR. 1 Cup, 1 Spoon, 1 Knife, and 1 Fork. 1 Sandwich Case and Flask. AH the above silver Plate bears the crest and motto of a lion in circle, and motto round, rim ' Scuto Fider.' By GEORGE OLIVER, a butler, 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, medium build; dark brown or auburn hair, parted in centre, dark, sandy whiskers, chin and tpp 1%) shaved, ruddy complexion, small grey eyes, nose wife- inclined to be' pug, has a quiet way of speaking, can sgesik French fluently, walks with a quick step, respectable appe^ r- • ance; supposed to be wearing dark clothes, said to be a native of Windsor, and to have an uncle named Holden, a builder, at Camden Town, London; is fond of gambling, and may attend race meetings. The following property has been recovered, pledged at Manchester : 1 tea Tray, 1 sugar Basin, 1 cream Jug, 1 tea Caddy, 18 tea Spoons, 2 pairs sugar Tongs, 1 caddy Spoon, 8 table Spoons, 1 salt Spoon, 6 salt Cellars, and 6 other Spoons ; 2 Teapots, Coffee Pots, sugar Basin, 24 table Forks, 24 dessert do., 12 table Spoons, 24 dessert do., 2 gravy Spoons, 12 tea Spoons, 6 egg Spoons, 3 caddy Spoons, 6 small sugar Tont's, 2 sauce Ladles, fish Knife ancl Fork, 2 fish and • 2 dessert Knives and Forks ; 3 suites of diamond Jewellery, 19 stones, diamond Stud and Bracelet, and cameo Suite, in cases. He received the following £ 10 Bank of England Notes In- part payment, viz., No. 29088— 29096, dated at Manchester. 20th January, 1877. Stated that he has been at Thornbury, near Collingwood; North Canada, where he has a brother, a farmer. Lived with the Countess of Sefton as under footman and with Sir Walter Ridley about 9 years ago, his right thumb nail is split, buttons on clothes may probably be marked ' Smith and Sons, Chester,' if wearing elastic- side boots may have the name of ' Jones and Son' on straps. He is in the habit of corresponding and betting with William Eglington, Rue Clery, Boulogne, France, turf agent, & c., letters, & c.,' having been found left till called for at a great many post offices in the country in names of Oliver, Burrows, & c. " Information to be given to Inspector Williams, County Police Office, Chester, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, April 17. Absconded on 6th instant, charged with embezzlement : JOHN HOWARD KING, late of 4, Cambridge- road, Gunnersbury, Middlesex, traveller, 39 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, bloated face, brown curly hair, redish brown whiskers and moustache, very stout built; he is well known at Burton- on- Trent, may eudevour to emigrate. Warrant issued. A reward of £ 50 will be given by Messrs. Dann and Vallentin, Lambeth Distillery, London, for such information as will lead to his apprehension and conviction. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Williamson, Great Scotland Yard, London.— Metropolitan Police, A Division, April 17. Absconded, on 6th instant, from Chilgrove, near Chichester, charged on warrant with stealing £ 2 15s. 6d., the Money belonging to his master : CHARLES CLARKE, 53 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, black hair turning- grey, black whiskers, very dark complexion, ancl dark eyes; dressed in long brown overcoat, black and white plaid trousers, hard black felt hat, and has the appearance of an ostler or stableman. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Lucas, County Police Station, Chichester, Sussex. — Bow- street April 15. Description of a man charged with stealing two silver Watches, ( recovered), the property of Susan Bedwell, St. Stephen's, near Canterbury, on 6th instant: about 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, sharp features; dressed in dark coloured jacket, dark trousers, plaid woollen scarf, and Scotch cap, and had. a military appearance ; one watch was pledged at Canterbury on 6 th, and one at Sittingbourne on 8th April, 1878. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Walker, Kent County Constabulary, Canterbury.— Bow- street, April 15. No. Z 1222, convicted at Cawn- pore, India, on 22nd August, 1873, for drunkeness, insurbor- dination, and personal violence, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude, was discharged from Milibank Convict Prison 22nd August, 1877 : he is 31 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, scar on thumb of right hand, broad nose, thick lips, wreath enclosing cross and anchor crossed, with heart in centre in red on left arm, scar on right wrist, large wart on left knee, scar on right calf. No. Y 288, convicted at Salford Hundred Sessions, 27th May, 1872, anel sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 7 years supervision for larceny from the person, and was discharged from Milibank Convict Prison, 26th October, 1877 : he is 37 years of age, 5 feet 5J inches high, greyish hair, brown e} res, sallow complexion, cnt on and over right eyebrow, mole on left arm, cut above left eyebrow, scar back of neck, scar on front of each leg, body covered with small white marks ; by trade a butcher.
