ENGLISH POLICE. £ 200 REWARD. Stolen, during the nlpht of the 8th mid the morning of the 9th inst, from a jeweller's shop in this borough, the following- iiained articles:— Diamond bracelet, cluster of large diamonds in centre ; par of large sjingle- stone diamond earrings ; pair of 4- stone diimond earrings ; large single- stone diamond ring, heavy square setting ' yj about 70 oz. of • " ddin^ rings} 2 title gold lady* s tassel Albert's j vy tint pattern gfild necklet* ;{ nd single- stqpe, i norul ltftjkel attached; about 4 dozen gold ( 18 i) peepers ; about 25 sets of line gold brooches IT ' earrings, some of tliem seCVwith pearls, rubies diamonds, tvcT; about 00 bright gold Alberts ; about new elastic- side boots, and Scotch cap. He is a native of lazonby, Cumberland. He, deserted from the 55th Regiment at Carlisle, on the 28th ultimo. He nnd two other men and two women, who committed the robbery, were traced to Manchester, where the other four were apprehended, on the 4th instant. These have been identified by the prosecutor and remanded. The offence is a very serious one, and it is urged that every possible effort will be made to apprehend him. DESCRIPTION of convict John Brady ( 2523), whose licence has been revoked by Chief Secretary's Warrant, daied 8tli. February, 1878, he having been senteneed* to"^ 1 days' imprisonment in Dundalk Gaol, on the 19th January, 1878, for vagrancy by begging. This man is now at large, having* been discharged from Dundalk Gaol, on* the 8th February, his sentence of imprisonment having expired. His resent whereabouts is unknown:— Convicted at oghiyja Hilary Sessions, on 3rd January, 1872, larceny 61' sacks, second count for receiving, and third count previous conviction of felony,, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 41 years of Rge on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, is a widower and has 2 children, a labourer ( formerly a soldier), bom in Duleek, county Meath ; resided before conviction in county. Meath; his friends reside in Drogheda; brown hair mixed with gray, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, prominent nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high; a scar on left cheek. DESCRIPTION of convict Simon Cunningham ( 2530), ' 0 has- broken the conditions of his licence, in not. rting himself to the Police on change of resi- dence :— Convicted at Dublin City October Sessions, on 3rd October, 1873, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; 40 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, married, but states he has no children, a labourer, born in Rathkeale; resided before conviction in Dublin; liis friends reside in Park- street, near Francis- street; hair, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, short noise, ordinary iho. uth, wants nearly all the teeth in front of 1 innth, Sftllow complexion, round visage, stout make, " 1 feiit, inches high. THB Police BUS Ga& ett me Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. \ TEE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CRY, MARCH 12, 1878. i road and write, is a Protestant, single, a tutor, born in Galway; resided before conviction in College- green, Dublin ; his friends reside in county Galway ; dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, sharp nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5} inches high; slightly pock- marked, a burn- mark on right cheek, along the whiskers. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on tho 18th September, 1877, on an order of licence, and proceeded to Dublin, where he reported himself to the Police. He resided for some time in the Dublin district, but left his residence about the 1st October last, without notifying same to the Police. He has not reported himsolf since, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In tho event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the Oth section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 84 and 85 Vic., cap. 113. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin i>— Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, aud marked very much about tho nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sors and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz. :— A brown leather portmanteau, C. on each end, canvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new di; ess suit, made by Buckmaster, Dawson- street, a morning suit, a shawl pattern dressing gown ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 8 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino drawers, 2 silk under- vests; the name Buckmaster supposed On inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk and 6 cambric pocket- handkerchiefs, and some silk tics, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory hafts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, a small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a Roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in Russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several reading essays, books, < 5ic., Ac., a silver- mounted cigar c; ise to hold 8 cigars, a brown leather do., about 18 Cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. October 4, 1877. 4 DESCRIPTION of a, man and woman, names unknownf ( who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a Cow, which thev had in their pbssession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 6 A. m., oil the lfith instant:— The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. Tho woman is 80 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw sortie hesitation about buying her. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, at about the hour of I o'clock, P. M., on the 15th day of January, 1878, Patrick Carney, or Kearney, aged about 80 years, was murdered by some person or persons unknown, on the public road leading from Crusheen, in the county of Clare, to the mountains: His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person' or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same.
