The Names of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. A Description, as accurate as possible, of Property that has been stolen, and a minute Description of Stolen Horses for the purpose of tracing and recovering them. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the' Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Parkin' on one corner ; a white Table Cloth. The Shawl, Shirt, and Handkerchief have been recovered. By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, dark, hair, dark whiskers on side of face, rather stout figure. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Robinson, Constabulary Office, Wigton, Cumberland, or at the Office of the County Chief Constable, Carlisle.— Bow- street, February 27. INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Charged on a sheriffs warrant for having on several occasions between 1st March and 9th May, 1877, fraudulently obtained on presentation of forged bills, in a Bank in Glasgow, several sums of money, amounting to £ 383 9s. 6d, : WM. DOIG, a working jeweller, of No. 8, Buchanan- street, Glasgow, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, dark complexion, heavy eyebrows, downcast look, old scar on nose no whiskers, slight black beard, and very slight moustache ; dressed generally in an olive coloured top coat, rough brown tweed suit, black scarf, and a black felt hat. When walking generally keeps one hand in trousers pocket, and seldom looks any person in the face. Absconded on 27th ultimo. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable McCall, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow.— Bow- street, March 6. Description of E. C. MORGAN, late editor of the New Swindon Express Newspaper, for whose apprehension a warrant is issued for forging a Cheque on the Wilts and Gloucester Bank, far £ 22 : he is from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout, very dark eyes, hair, whiskers and beard ; usually wears spectacles, and generally dressed respectable, and wears a high black silk hat, and a very large ulster coat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent North, Wilts Constabulary.— Bow- street, March 4. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen on 19tli instant, from the person whilst in a crowd in Euston- road : a large open- face gold chronometer Watch, No. 55104.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 27. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Smith, Johnstone- street, Handsworth, was broken into and stolen therein : a man's pepper- and- salt Coat, double- breasted, two outside pockets and ticket pocket, about half worn ; and a pair of man's Braces. By a man of the following description : about 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion and hair, medium build, full face, high cheek bones, no whiskers and was heard to speak with Irish accent; dressed in brown- coloured plaid cloth trousers, low shoes, and white stockings. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Woollaston, West Brom- wicli, or to Inspector Whitehurst, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, March 6. ' Ou the night of 23rd instant, the dwelling house of Mr. Robert Wildgoose, Holloway, was burglariously broken into, and the following articles stolen therein : four table Spoons ; a gravy ditto ; eight dessert ditto ; eight tea ditto ; six egg ditto ; four salt ditto ; a small salt and mustard ditto ; four jam ditto, two of them pearl handles and two thin twisted silver handles ; eight table Forks ; eight dessert ditto ; two sauce Ladles ; two pairs of sugar Tongs, all electro- plated ; a pair of sugar Tongs and sugar Spoon, silver ; a plate Basket, with three divisions, lined with green baize ; all the electro- plated goods marked ' W.' Supposed to have bean stolen by two men, one came to the house to beg at 5" 30 p. m. on 22nd instant, about 55 years of age, light hair, small grey whiskers; dressed in a dark coat, cotton cord trousers, and high soft black felt hat ; he walked with a stick and stooped very much until he had left the house when he was observed to walk erect; the other who remained on the road was a tall man. A. reward of ,£ 5 will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Stolen during the night of 27th ultimo, from a stable at the ' Drill' inn, Cheam- lane, North Cheam: a grey mare Pony, aged, 13 J hands high, chipped knees, in good condition; a set of brass- mounted Harness, with two odd terrels, traces, bridle, old pads, lined white cheek. Also stolen from the farm at Cheam- lane, same night: a dark green Dogcart, with two lamps, top of one broken off, cushions covered dark blue cloth, a cocoa- nut Mat, a Sack, ' Charles Dixon, Cheam' on side, all much worn,— Metropolitan Police, V Division, Mar. 6. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Walsall: a bay horse Colt, 3 years old, 14 hands high, and in good condition. Stolen from a field at Shelvock, parish of Ruyton Eleven Towns, on the night of 1st instant : 3 Shropshire downs yearling Sheep, marked with pitch on the side ' B. O.' Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, March ( 3. Stolen between 10 p. m. oil 1st, and 8 a. m. on 2nd instant, from stables at Sudbury Lodge Farm, Sudbury- road, Harrow: a chesnut Mare, aged, 14 hands 3 inches high, star on fore- head, and hind heel white, small lump on off fore fetlock, in good condition ; a set of brass mounted Harness, collar and bridle deficient; and two bro wn horse Rugs, old, ' Urite, maker, Paddington' thereon.— Metropolitan Police, X Divi- sion, March 6. Stolen from a field at Bowbridge, in the parish of Stroud, sometime between 23rd and 24th instant: a dark bay Mare, about 14 hands high, rising 5 years, long rough coat, having laid out all the winter, heavy mane and long tail, in good condition, shod all round, and no white spot or mark about her ; the property of Mr. James R. Ockford, of Little Mill, Stroud. The Mare was found in a field at Eyeford, near Stow- on- the- Wold, about 24 miles from Stroud, on the morning of 28th ultimo. When found she had been clipped, docked and seared, her mane thinned and newly shod. The fore shoes are quite flat without any grooves for the nails, the hind shoes are turned up a little on the outside. The Mare is supposed to have been docked and seared where she was shod £ 5 reward will be paid to any person or persons giving such, information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons who stole the Mare. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent' Hanbidge, Stroud, Gloucester- shire.— Bow- street, March 6. Stolen from a field in Halifax, Yorks, since 21st ultimo a black draught Mare, about 15 hands 2 inches high, aged, in fair condition, white. star in forehead, white near hind foot, long hair on body, switch tail, has had a sore on top of near foreleg, and is without shoes. Information to be given to Chief ^ Constable Pole, Town Ha'' Halifax, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 4. damaged : he is about 19 years of age, 5 feet 4J inches high fail- complexion, light hair inclined to curl, ana small eyes ; dressed in pepper and salt plaid trousers, and dark coat. Is a native of Stourbridge. Information to be given to Sergeant Sommers, City Police, Worcester.— Bow- street, March 6. Description of PETER DENNIS, charged on a warrant with stealing five Sovereigns, in Cambridge, on 2nd instant : 23 years of age, 5 feet high, fresh complexion, dark hair, eyes, and whiskers ; dressed in old dark cap, with peak and knot on top, old light spotted muffler, dark brown mixture cloth coat and vest, cord trousers, lace- up shoes, and an old unbleached calico shirt, stained with blood. He is a drover, and has worked at Norwich, Ipswich, Bury and other places in the Eastern Counties. Information to be given to Chief Superin- tendent Turrall, Cambridge, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 6. Stolen on 1st instant, from 10, Angel- court, Strand: a pair side- spring boots ; a pair lace ditto ; two pairs dark tweed Trousers ; a black cloth Overcoat, black velvet collar, pockets on hips ; two black cloth walking Coats; an otter skin Vest; two black cloth Vests, one single, one double- breasted. By two men, one 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, and thin face ; dressed in a light tweed coat, black trousers, and black felt hat. The other 17 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, thin face, fair complexion, and dark hair ; dressed in dark clothes, and black soft felt hat. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 6. Absconded, charged with embezzlement : GEORGE P. WARREN, late a clerk in the employ of Messrs. Horsell and Willis, brewers, Woottoii Bassett; lie is about 24 years of age, 5 feet. 7 inches high, l- ather pale, fair complexion, light hair, very little hair on his face, no beard or whiskers, nose rather large with very open and large nostrils, broad shoulders, walks upright, and has plenty of confidence ; dressed in a high black silk hat or bowler, good black ribbed cloth overcoat, with velvet collar, light trousers, and sometimes drab cloth gaiters with fronte over, the shoes ; carries ; y gold watch, and wears, rings on his fingers, and generally carries an umbrella; when away from home; of respectable appearance. Knows London well, and took a ticket to Paddington on 25th ultimo, but it is believed he will endeavour to leave the country, £ 10 reward will be paid on his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent North, Wilts Constabulary, Swindon.— Bow- street, March 4. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on 2nd instant, from 12, Alfred- place, St. Giles, stealing one Sovereign : a woman ( servant), 30 years of age, 5 feet high, ruddy complexion, dark liair ; dressed in brown linsey dress, black and white check shawl, and black bonnet.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 6. Absconded on 2( 5th ultimo, from Birmingham, charged on a warrant with embezzling the sum of £ 300, the monies of J. R. Atkins and Co., factors, Augusta- street : JAMES ROWLAND ATKINS, one of the Firm, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, black curly liair, dark moustache and whiskers, and of gentlemanly appearance. He is well known in Liverpool, Manchester, and many other large towns in England. Information to be given to Major Bond, Chief of Police, Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, March 0. Description of GEORGE THOMAS, alias THOMP- SON, alias ROBINSON, an engraver oil glass, who absconded from Worcester on 20th ultimo, and for whose arrest a warrant has been issued, charged with stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, No. 20499, with gold face, black figures, one of which is partly obliterated ; an old- fashioned long gold Chain ; a gentleman's gold Ring, with pink stone ; a ladies „. ; t . . _ 7 silver Ring, with six green stones ; a small gold Seal; and a bned' with black Italian cloth, two pockets outside of skirt,^ i small gold Brooch, set with cornelian, which is slightly Absconded, charged with larceny as bailee of a Watch, at Stow- on- the- Wold, on 9th ultimo : a travelling watch jobber, 60 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, long hair, whiskers and beard all quite grey, all the fingers of right hand straight, and walks lame ; dressed in a long black coat, grey trousers, red stripes down the sides, high hat. He frequents common lodging- houses, and low beer- shops. In- formation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Philpott, Police Office, Northleach, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 4. Absconded from Ebbwvale, on 25th ultimo, charged with embezzlement: DANIEL LLOYD, late a clerk in the Ebbwvale Steel, Iron, and Coal Company ( Limited) : he is a Welshman,- of gentlemanly appearance, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, proportionate made, fair com- plexion, brown hair, and long brown whiskers and moustache; dressed when he absconded in a suit of black cloth, and hard bowler hat. Pie will most likely make his way to some part in the North of England. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny, or to Mr. Super- intendent Foil, Tredegar Iron Works, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 1. Stolen during the night of 24th ultimo, from a waggon, while standiug at the Biggleswade Railway Station : 30 yards of cotton " Cord, 20 yards of brown Velveteen, 20J yards of white toilet Covering, 59 yards of black Victoria lawn, .50 yards of Mecklin, 24 yards of pale hard book Muslin, and a pair of ladies stays ( stays have been recovered). By two men of the following description, one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, small sandy moustache, hair cut shoit; dressed in dark coat, sealskin cap, and dark trousers. The other about 5 feet 8 inches high, much thinner than the other, dark complexion ; dressed in dark coat, broad brimmed billycock hat, and railway porter's trousers. They were traced from Biggleswade to Southill, on the morning after the robbery, where they took tickets by the 10T5 a. m. train for St. Pancras. Information to be given to Mr. Super - intendent Bedlow, Biggleswade, or to Mr. Superintendent Williams, Great Northern Railway, King's Cross, London. — Bow- street, March 1. Description of JOHN MERRICK, charged with stealing two Ducks, at Tividale, on 24th ultimo : 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, stout build ; when last seen was dressed in black clothes, hard billycock hat, and lace- up boots; native of Brades- row, Tividale, and a labourer. A warrant is granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Sergeant Cooper, Blackheath, near Dudley, or to Police Constable Given, Tividale, Staffordshire.— Boic- street, March 1. Stolen between 16th and 18th ultimo, from the premises of Mr. Edmund Roberts, builder, Weedon : 2 Pit Saws, one 7 feet long, the other 6 feet 9 inches long, both 11 inches wide at heel ; 1 cross- cut Saw, 4 feet long, all the Saws have handles attached ; 1 2- foot Rule, has been cracked at one end and I mended with glue. By BICHARD EARL, a tramping sawyer, a native of Dodford, near Weedon, about 40 years of age, " but looks older, about 5 feet 11 inches high/, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, and abscess scar oil left cheek ; dressed in blue serge jacket, dark cloth trousers, and hard felt hat. He sold the two pit Saws and 2- foot Rule at Silverstone, Northampton, and which have since been recovered. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Williamson, County Police Office, Weedon, Northampton- shire, who holds a warrpnt for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 1. Description of WILLIAM SMITH, alias TICKET SMITH, who absconded from South Stockton on 18th ultimo, charged with fraudulently embezzling two sums of money belonging to the lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which Lodge he was Secretary : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark brown liair, complexion inclined to be fresh, has very broad front teeth, proportionate figure, walks very erect with his head thrown back, and generally has his hands in his trousers pockets ; dressed in grey or brown mixture suit, and black billycock hat. Was for a number of years employed as mineral agent on the Stockton and Darlington Railway, but for the last 4 or 5 years has been attending the principal race meetings, and also acting as bailiff' for the < ounty Court. Is much given to boasting, and will be likely to spend much of his time at public houses' frequented by the lower class of betting men, or may try to get employment as a waiter or barman at a public house. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simpson, Constabulary Office, South Stockton, North Riding of Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 1. Absconded on 20th instant, from 150, New Bond- street, St. George's, stealing £ 7 14s. 6d : a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, pockpitted; dressed in dark brown Chesterfield overcoat, grey trousers, small black necktie, black felt hat; lately resided at 26, Paradise- street, St. Marylebone.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, February 27. Absconded on 21st instant, from 10, Woburn- buildings, St. Pancras, stealing : a lady's gold single- case lever Watch, gold dial, steel hands, engine- turned cases ; a lady's gold Albert Chain, small link pattern, with small piece of gold Chain, crystal Cross ( mounted in silver), and a gold Seal ( turquoise set with white stone); a lady's gold mourning Ring, set with pearls, in shape of a forget- me- not; a gentle man's gold hunting Watch, engine- turned cases, white dial, steel seconds hand, black jet Chain attached ; a gentleman's gold and enamelled Ring, set with topaz; £ Z in Gold ; and £ 1 Is. 6d. : a woman, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout, rather sallow complexion, dark hair ( turning grey), and dark eyes; dressed in blue serge dress, grey astracan jacket, black velvet bonnet ( trimmed black ribbon and flowers).— Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 27. Absconded on 23rd instant, stealing : a pair of lady's new side- spring Boots; an old brown stuff Skirt ; a child's white Pinafore ; a dozen white cambric Handkerchiefs; a red silk Scarf; an old black Bonnet, trimmed with black velvet and feather : a woman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, brown hair ; dressed in black stuff dress and jacket, black bonnet, shabby appearance.— Metro- . politan Police, E Division, February 27. Description of a man who has absconded,- eiharged with another man in custody, with stealing a silver lever Watch, from the house of John Blower, at Humberstone, Leicester- shire, on 18th instant, the watch having been found pledged iu Leicester : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 8. or 9 inches high, pale complexion, light brown hair, whiskers shaved off, small light moustache, proportionate build, blind of the right eye, both ankles deformed, and is a brickmalcer by trade ; dressed in dirty light- coloured coat and vest, dark check trousers, worn through one knee, old lace- up boots, with toe- caps, and black billy hat ; was last seen in or near Burton- on- Trent, on 22nd instant ; will probably apply for relief at tramp wards, & c. information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Moore, Police Station, Belgrave, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, Feb. 27. Stolen from Pelsall on 2lst instant: a Wheelbarrow painted slate colour. By THOMAS WEBB, 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache; dressed in pilot jacket, moleskin trousers and vest, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots. He is a colliery engineman, and sleeps in engine houses, & c., and is Well known in Leicestershire, Staffordshire, and Worcestershire. Infor- mation to be given to Sergeant Arnold, Rushall; near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, February 27. Stolen on the night of 23rd instant, from the dwelling- house of W. S. Gore Langton, Esq., Newton- park, Somerset : A pair of diamond Ear- rings, pear shaped. A Necklace of two rows of pearls, diamond clasp. A pearl Necklace, with two rows of pearls, and small diamond clasp. A gold Bracelet, set with diamonds. A diamond Locket. A diamond heart- shaped Locket, with blue enamel. A Cross of large turquoises, set with small diamonds. A large ruby hoop Ring. A large pearl ditto. A smaller ditto. A turquoise serpent Bracelet. Two hair Bracelets, with diamond clasps, in green enamel. A Pin, large pearl, with leaves of turquoise. Ditto, emerald in gold claw. A thick gold Chain. Three smaller ditto. Ten silver gilt and gold centred Tops of Bottles and Boxes of dressing- case, initials ' A. G. M,' A miniature of a lady, set in paste. A turquoise Ear- ring. A pale blue enamel Locket, with coronet and initials in very small diamonds. A thick gold Roman Chain and Locket, with lapis lazuli. A gold Locket, with diamond Cross. „ About £ 6 in Gold. And other Jewellery. Supposed by two men of the following description : one about 30 years OL age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, hair cut short, and small whiskers; dressed in dark cloth jacket, light trousers, and bowler hat. The other about 35 years of age, short, stout, broad shoulders, short neck, fresh complexion, brown beard and moustache ; dressed in dark cloth overcoat, and toft hut. £ 100' reward will be paid by Mr. Gore- Lan jton to any person who shall give such information as shall had to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders, and recovery of the stolen property, or a proportionate reward according to the amount of property recovered. Information t'.' be given to the Chief Constable, at his Offices, Glastonbury, or to Mr. Superintendent Morgan, County Police Station, Upper Bristol- road, Bath, Somerset.— Bow- street, February 27. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described.) Absconded, charged on a warrant with felony : JOHN HERBERT SARGENT, late of 9, Windermere- road, Upper Holloway; 26, Milton- street, Brixton ; and Park road, Clapham ; about 29 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, sandy hair, curls round his head, sandy beard, whiskers and moustache, thin face, and slender build ; late a clerk in Christ's Hospital; has a wife and two children, frequents billiard- rooms, and may have taken a marker's situation. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old. Jewry, London— Bow- street, March: 6. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. CHARLES TAYLOR, alias ROBERT JOHNSON, advertised in Police Gazette of 19th ultimo, as charged at Abingdon with fraud, has been apprehended at Kineton, Warwickshire, and will be brought before the Borough Bench on 5th instant. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Brabner, Police Office, Abingdon, Berks.— Bow- street, March 4.
