Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all i eller. S addressed to the Editor aitlist be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given at any of the Police Stations in the county of Flint, or to Chief Constable Browne, rhyl, Flintshire— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded from Middlesbrough, on 26tli ultimo, charged with assaulting and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Anu Hall: CHARLES JONES, alias HENRY GAFENEY, alias LAIRY, alias HALL, a pudler, a native of Great Barr, or Great Bridge, Staffordshire, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, brown whiskers and moustache, slightly pock pitted ; dressed when last seen in an old dirty cloth coat, moleskin trousers, and old cloth cap. He is of Irish parentage and has worked at iron works in Stockton, Hartlepool, Dar- lington, and Sandbacli, in Cheshire, and Hunslet, near Leeds. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggeison, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 15. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Whereas, on 29th ultimo, the dead body of a Male Child, about 6 months old, was found in a brook near Sheepwash Lane, Tipton, and; a Coroner's Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' - i reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government • to any person, other than a police officer, who shall give such information and evidence as [ shall lead to the discover)' and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall j^ ive such evidence as shall lead to a like result. The child had light- broVn hair, and four vaccination marks on his left- arm ; and was dressed in a calico shirt with edging round the neck, a flannel petticoat with two tucks at the bottom, a • dark winsey skirt with a calico body and three white buttons on the back, odd white woollen socks, nearly new, and a diaper pinafore ; and was wrapped in a large common grey woollen shawl with two light- coloured stripes near the border, and five narrow amber- coloured stripes between them. Informa- tion to be given to W. Congreve, Chief Constable of Stafford- shire. or at any Police Station in the county.— Bow- street, Feb'uary 20. Absconded from Stourbridge, on 3rd instant, charged on warrant, with two others committed for trial, for feloniously causing grievous bodily harm to one James Lewis on 2nd instant, at Stourbridge: JOHN O'BOYLE, an Irishman, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, rather stout build, pale face, black hair and eyes, walks very erect ; when last seen was wearing a small black moustache ; he will no doubt seek employment as a bricklayer's labourer. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, February 20. On the 10th instant, between 3 and 4 p. m., Morgan Evans was murdered bv three men of the following description: MORRIS THOMAS, collier or haulier, late of Maesteg, and native of Cwmaman, Carmarthenshire, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout built, fresh complexion, sandy hair, cut short, no whiskers or moustache, full face, thick nose, pimple marks on face ; dressed in dirty plaid trousers, with a large patch on each knee, a coarse black cloth cap, with peak of same material, with a tassel on the crown, much worn, and heavy nailed boots ; his parents are dead, and he was brought up by his aunt at Cwmaman, Carmar- thenshire. Another a slight man, from 23 to 24 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, very dark complexion, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, thin full face, very hollow cheeks, roman nose, short neck, and stoops a little ; dressed in a dirty black cloth jacket, with two buttons on each hip, elastic- side boots, very much worn, and a black cloth cap. And the other a short stout man, from 20 to 21 years of age, fresh complexion, full face, had a black eye ( supposed light) ; dressed in a brown coat, and a black clotli cap ; he was called by his comrades ' DAI.' The three are Welshmen, and poachers ; they had two dogs with them of the following description : one a greyhound bitch, small size, very thin, fine coat, and of light brindle colour ; the other a lurcher, a dog, large size, light grey back, with white breast, white band round neck, very rough hair, and rough about the mouth. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Thomas, Constabulary Office, Bridgend, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, February 18. On 8th ultimo, the dead Body of a newly born male Child was found in a hedge bank in Bromfield- lane, Mold, in the county of Flint, wrapped in a piece of blue and red plaid Table Cloth. A Coroner's Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' Her Majesty's Government do hereby offer a reward of £ 50 to any person ( other than a Police Officer) who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of FORGERY. Description of CHRISTOPHER NORTH, late of Dawley, charged with forgery : he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 infclies high, light hair, small whiskers turning grey, and bald on top of head ; dressed in a light grey suit and overcoat, generally wears a tall hat; he has a short quick step, and looks on the ground when walking, also round shouldered ; travels through Staffordshire, Herefordshire, and Shropshire for some Birmingham firm, for orders for bacon and cheese, supposed residing at Wolverhampton. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or t6 Sergeant Higgins, Dawley, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 22. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery: MONTAGUE D'OYLEY FULLERTON ARMSTRONG:, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fair hair, moustache and complexion, may have whiskers, blue eyes, slight build, and of gentlemanly appearance. Known at various West End Hotels. Information to bo given to Inspector McWilliams, City of Loudon Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. C. - Bow- street, February 18. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the night of 17th instant a dwelling- house at East Elsley, Berks, was burglariously entered and the following- property stolen therein : a brown plaid Coat, wi th four out- side pockets, brown studs, and a small hole burnt on the right breast; a dark mixture cloth Coat, diamond pattern ; a pair of grey mixture cloth Trousers ; a Waistcoat, dark figure and black studs ; a silk Scarf, blue and white ; a silk Handker- chief, yellow figured, with black flowers round the borders ; woollen Scarf, black and white plaid ; a Muffler, blue border, and stag's heads on each corner; a pair of Boots, side buttons and toecaps ; a ditto ditto, lace- up and nailed ; a ditto ditto, lace- up and not nailed ; a ditto ditto, elastic- sides, and imita tion buttons ; a white cotton Shirt, linen front and collar a blue and white striped cotton Shirt; two white twilled cotton xyider Shirts ; a cotton Handkerchief, with playing cards round border ; a pair of red and white cotton Socks and a white pair ; a black knitted woollen Guernsey ; a black felt Hat; a pair of brown kid Gloves ; a white cotton Handker- chief ; and a Razor with black handle, and ' J. Mansard ' the centre of blade. All the stolen wearing apparel are small sizes. By two young men, from 18 to 23 years of age, one of them dark complexion, thin features, and small black moustache; the other fair complexion with small round features ; both were dressed in - the stolen clothes. H.'; a pair of silver Sugar Toners ; a pair of electro- plated Table Prongs ; an old fashioned verge Watch; two pairs of men's lace- up Boots; a pair of women's kid Boots ; a short grey tweed Coat, man's size ; and £ 17 in Gold. W. Lilley, Esq. : a silver caddv Spoon, marked F. L. L.'; eight new small table Knives with ivory handles, marked on blade ' Bona fide, Joliu Wigfall and Co., Sheffield.' The property of Miss Cowland: a silver salt Cellar, standing on three claws, marked at the bottom of the first claw ' W. C.', the second ' E. P.', and on the third ' 1780'; six desseit Knives, with ivory handles, marked on blades ' II. G. Hall and Co.' Supposed by two men who left Royston ( about 12 miles off) railway station, by the 10- 24 express train, for London : one about 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, sandy whiskers and moustache ; was wearing some of the stolen coats, a high silk hat, rather greasy, and muffler; the other from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or ( 5 inches high, light brown or sandy whiskers and moustache, was wearing one of the stolen coats, chummy hat, and muffler round neck. They are believed to be London thieves, who occasionally commit such offences as this in counties not far off; they left behind a box of matches, supposed of Swedish make, having on the front the figure of an elephant, and the words ' Tandsticker, makers, Kreuger and Jennings, Calmer.' Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Chesterton- road, Cambridge.— Bow- street, February 22. Stolen by means of housebreaking between 11 a. m. and p. m. on 10th instant, from the cottage of William Scutt, at West Hoathly : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, with flowered back, silk Guard and plain gold Seal attached ; a goldPoncil- case ; a dark red scent Bottle, with silver top ; £ 11 in ( jokl; about £ 1 in Silver and Bronze Coins; also 2s. 6d. worth of Postage Stamps. Supposed by two men who were seen loitering in the neighbourhood ( one is in custody); the other is about 25 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very fresh complexion, small moustache, no whiskers, light hair, proportionate figure, round face, and speaks very fluently ; dressed in dark coat, worn at left elbow and collar, pepper- and- salt trousers, worn at bottoms, brown hard felt hat, " and small light boots, no nails, ( supposed blucher make). Sup- posed to come from Brighton. He obtained private lodgings at Hay ward's Heath about a month ago, where he left on the morning of the robbery, and has not since returned. He left at his lodgings ( supposed stolen) a German silver Watch, French make, figure ' 2' on inside case, open- face, with white dial, and plain figures ; also an imitation gold Albert, snake pattern and plain bar, the watch lias ' wvii' on rim of glass, winds up in front. Also found sold by same person, an old verge Watch, in imitation gold case, flint glass, winds up at back, one keyhole soldered up ( supposed stolen). Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Giiustead, East Sussex..— Bow- slrcct, February 22. Stolen by means of burglary, on 20th instant, from Captain Butts House, at Woking Prison : a pair of silver Candlesticks, a pair of Sugar Tongs, a Sugar Basin, and somes silverpiountings off two Jugs ; " also at the same time, from the house of the Catholic Priest : 2 Overcoats, one dark, one light, on one of them the collar and cuffs are trimmed with velvet. Stolen between 4 p. m., 11th, and .9 a. m., 12th instant from a field at Townsend House, Uxbridge- road, Southall - a bright bay gelding Russian Pony, 6 years old, 13-'- hands high, one fore and both hind fetlocks white, loixr tail cut square, been blistered inside off hock, several small black spots without hair on face, small lump on one knee. Absconded from Goitrey, near Pontypool, charged on a warrant with having stolen five Sheep, on 13th instant at the parish of Mamhilad : JOHN LEWIS, a butcher, native of Goitrey, Monmouthshire, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, small lio- ht moustache a mole on cheek, and thick lips and prominent • dressed m dark grey coat, vest and trousers, hard black bowl- r hat, and light coots. Stolen from a stable, between 7- 30 and 9' 30 p. m.," on 12th instant, the property of Mr. Charles Blundell, at the parish of Shoreham : a light chesnut Gelding, 13 or 14 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, rubbed round off shoulder, and some lumps under neck, carries his head rather high, a fast trotter, in good condition, value £ 30 ; also a set of light silver plated Harness, rather worn ; 2 or 3 Collars, various sizes ; and another light set of Van Harness, brass mounted; 3 Reins ; 2 Cloths, one old, the other nearly new, marked ' C. Blundell, Shoreham.' By two men, one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches liigh, dark moustache, and short whiskers ; dressed in light check overcoat. The other 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in blue overcoat, fastened in front with a large pin ; both wore liard felt hats. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Okill, Police Court., Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, February 15, IARGEIY AID EMSEZZLEMENT. Stolen from a bed- room in a public- house at Eton, Bucks, on 20th instant : a black Coat, pockets outside, and a black Waistcoat to match, by a man who lodged at the house on 19th instant, an Irish shoemaker ; had with him a small bundle in a red cotton handkerchief, containing shoemaker's tools. He is about 32 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, rather full face, eyes sunk in head, crooked nose, sandy moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and hard felt hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Pearman, Eton, Bucks. Bow- street, February 22. Absconded on 16th instant, from 2, Gun- terrace, Bes- borough- place, Pimlico, embezzling £ 2 : a man, 32 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and heavy moustache, Jewish appearance ; dressed in black over- coat, light brown under, black trousers, Oxford vest, high black hat, patent boots ; a clerk.— Metropolitan Police, E Di vision, February 22. Description of a man charged with stealing a gold hunting Watch, seconds hand, engine turned case, maker McCabe, Royal Exchange, part of gold Albert Chain attached : he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion ; dressed in dark clothes, round felt hat, of gentlemanly appearance. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 22. Stolen from a dwelling- house, 62, Station- street, Middles- borough, on the morning of 20t, h instant, the property of James Kalom, labourer : a silver lever Watch, No. 30664, heavy silver Guard attached, cable pattern ; also a silk Hand- kerchief, white centre, and faded blue border. By a man of the following description, who had lodged in the house and left at the time named, taking with him the articles, he is a fitter, 31 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, sandy hair, slight moustache, little hair on end of chin, blue ring on second finger of left haiid, anjhor on left arm, two anchors on right arm, large burn mark on right elbow ; dressed in dark cloth jacket and vest, snuff- coloured trousers, elastic- side boots, cloth cap, and grey shirt with puce stripe. He is a native of Middlesborough, and has been in the Army, and Durham County Constabulary. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 22. Absconded, charged on a wan- ant with embezzling several sums of Money belonging to his employers, Messrs. Coxeter and Sons, general warehousemen : JOHN TRAHAIR, an assistant, a native of Tredwidden, near Penzance, Cornwall, 30 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, long dark beard and moustache, lost front tooth in upper jaw ; dressed in grey and brown check Connaught overcoat, blue fancy check braided morning coat and vest, dark check trousers, and either tweed- stitched or high hat, and of gentlemanly appearance. Believed to be well known in the cities of London and Bristol; has lived at Messrs. Welch and Margetson, 16, Cheapside, and Messrs. Sturt and Sharps, Wood- street, London, and at some Manchester house in Bristol. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brabner, Borough Police Office, Abingdon, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Feb. 22. Absconded from Shepton Mallet on 8th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a lady's gold Geneva Watch, not recovered : a German, named BRILL, alias MILLER, of Poole in Dorsetshire. He travels about the country, repairing clocks and watches and tuning musical instruments, and would be most likely known to watch makers and musical instrument sellers. He is about 40 years of age, of medium height and size, little or no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bisgood, Somerset Constabulary, Glastonbury, or to Sergeant Williams, Shepton Mallet, who holds a warrant fsr his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 22. Absconded on 20th instant, from 11, George- street, Bloomsbury, stealing: a black frock Coat, a pair of dark brown Trousers, a pair of dark blue plaid do., and 2 black cloth Vests. An Irishman, 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale face, dark curly hair, small black whiskers ; dressed in drab mixture overcoat, dark trousers, light hat. Was last seen in company with two men, sailors, who lodged at same place, and left same day : one 1.9 years of aga, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, ' Nagle' in ink on right wrist; dressed in° brown pilot jacket, dark trousers, cheesecutter cap. The other, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high ; dressed in blue pea jacket, dark trousers, round cap, no peak.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 22. Absconded on 1st instant, from Bradwell- near- the- Sea, Essex, charged with embezzling and stealing certain sums of money, belonging to his master : GEORGE LARKE, other- wise PAYNE, 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, stout build ; dressed in drab coloured trousers, blue guernsey, black russel cord jacket, and billycock hat. Supposed gone to the North. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rutledge, or to Police Con- stable 15 Root, Brad well, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 18. Description of WILLIAM SMITH, alias TAYLOR, alias FRENCH, alias FRANCE, who is charged on a warrant with having in October, 1877 ( with THOMAS MEDICI, now undergoing 9 months imprisonment) stolen 12 yards of grey tweed Cloth, a pair of Shoes, and two woollen Shirts ( recovered) : about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionate build, rather white face, black straight hair, and dark eyes. He used to sell sham jewellery by auction. He is supposed to have gone on board some sliip at South Shields. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Parks, Constabulary Office, Brampton, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, February 18. FELONIES. ( Sot otherwise described.) Absconded, charged with assaulting the police at Walsall Wood, on 20th instant, and escaping from custody, charged with felony : GEORGE SHAW, alias JOHN ADAMS, alias GIPSY GEORGE, 32 years of age, about 5 feet 10 ins. high, stout build, slightly pockmarked, figure of a man on each arm, and a ship on his back, swarthy gipsy looking, dark hair, cut short, and little or no whiskers ; dressed when last seen in dirty moleskin trousers, dark jacket, and black hard hat. He is a miner or labourer at coal pits, gasworks, & c., has been a soldier and sailor and has relatives at Wyrley, Wolverhampton, Shareshill, and other parts of Staffordshire. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, February 22. Absconded [ from Woolston, near Southampton, on 16th instant, charged with felony : DANIEL GLYN, late of 46th Regiment, 40 years of age, 5 feet 7£ inches high, fresh com- plexion, dark eyes, heavy moustache turning grey; dressed in dark tweed suit, hard black felt hat, elastic- side boots. Most likely to be found begging where Military is stationed.
