IVolICC.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all " applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Low Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the'JA'ame is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should bo made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any articlc in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed " to the Editor insist be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Eorms 88| and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person - who actually committed the murder, who will give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given at any of the Police Stations in the county of Flint, or to Chief Constable Browne, Rhyl, Flintshire.— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded from Middlesbrough, on 26th ultimo, charged with assaulting and inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Anu Hall: CHARLES JONES, alias HENRY GAFENEY, alias LAIRY, alias HALL, a pudler, a native of Great Barr, or Great Bridge, Staffordshire, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, brown whiskers and moustache, slightly pock- pitted ; dressed when last seen in an old dirty cloth coat, moleskin trousers, and old cloth cap. Ho is of Irish parentage and has worked at iron works in Stockton, Hartlepool, Dar- lington, ahd Sandbacb, in Cheshire, and Hunslet, near Leeds. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February 15. Stolen during the night of 16th instant, from a field at Alsager Hall, in the occupation of Mr. Richard Bailey : a white yearling Sheep, which was afterwards slaughtered in the neighbourhood, where the skin and entrails were con- cealed in a hedge. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any per- sucli information as will lead to the conviction of MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Whereas, on 29th ultimo, the dead body of a Male Child, about 6 months old, was found in a brook near Sheepwasli Lane, Tipton, and a Coroner's Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' a reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person, other than a police officer, who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Gracious Pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall flead to a like result. The child had liglit- brown liair, and four vaccination marks on his left arm ; and was dressed in a calico shirt with edging round the neck, a flannel petticoat with two tucks at the bottom, a dark winsey skirt with a calico body and three white buttons on the back, odd white weollen socks, nearly new, and a diaper pinafore ; and was wrapped in a large common grey woollen shawl with two light- coloured stripes near the border, and five narrow amber- coloured , stripes between tliem. Informa- tion to be given to W. Congreve, Chief Constable of Stafford- shire, or at any Police Station in the county.— Bow- street, Febuary 20. Absconded from Stourbridge, on 3rd instant, charged on warrant, with two others committed for trial, for feloniously causing grievous bodily harm to one James Lewis on 2nd instant, at Stourbridge: JOHN O'BOYLE, an Irishman, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, rather stout build, pale face, black hair and eyes, walks very erect; when last seen was wearing a small black moustache ; be will no doubt seek employment as a bricklayer's labourer. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, February 20. On the 10th instant, between 3 and 4 p. m., Morgan Evans was murdered by three men of the following description: MORRIS THOMAS, collier or haulier, late of Maesteg, and native of Cwmaman, Carmarthenshire, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout built, fresh complexion, sandy hair, cut short, no whiskers or moustache, full face, thick nose, pimple marks on face ; dressed in dirty plaid trousers, with a large patch on each kneej a coarse black cloth cap, with peak of same material, with a tassel on the crown, much worn, and heavy nailed boots ; liis parents are dead, and he was brought up by his aunt at Cwmaman, Carmar- thenshire. Another a slight man, from 23 to 24 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, very dark complexion, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, thin full face, very hollow cheeks, ronton nose, short neck, and stoops a little ; dressed in a dirty black cloth jacket, with two buttons on each hip, elastic- side boots, very much worn, and a black cloth cap. And the other a short stout man, from 20 to 21 years of age, fresh complexion, full face, had a black eye ( supposed right) ; dressed in a brown coat, and a black cloth cap ; he was called by his comrades ' DAI.' The three are Welshmen, and poachers ; they had two dogs with them of the following description : one a greyhound bitch, small size, very thin, fine coat, and of light brindle colon's ; the other a lurcher, a dog, large size, light grey back, with white breast, white band round neck, very rough hair, and rough about the mouth. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Thomas, Constabulary Office, Bridgend Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, Februari/ 18. On 8tli ultimo, the dead Body of a newly born mak (' hild was found in a hedge bank in Bromfield- lane, Mold, in the county of Flint, wrapped in a piece of blue and red plaid Table Clotli. A Coroner's Jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' Her Majesty's- Govefnmeiit do hereby offer a reward of £ 50 to any person ( other than a Police Officer) who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of FORGERY. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery: MONTAGUE DOYLEY FULLERTON ARMSTRONG, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fair hair, moustache and complexion, may have whiskers, blue eyes, slight build, and of gentlemanly appearance. Known at various West End Hotels. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. C. — Bow- street, February 18. Absconded on 8th instant, charged with forgery : BENJAMIN WRIGHTON, of Syresham, Northampton- shire, pork butcher, 22 years of age, 6 feet high, fair fresh complexion, light brown hair, and, small light whiskers; dressed in dark clothes, and is of respectable appearance. He has lived in Banbury and Birmingham. Information to be given' to Inspector Hall, Newport Pagnell, Bucks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 13. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of burglary on 12th instant, at Grant- chester, Cambridge : The property of R. L. Bensly, Esq.: a large silver Soup Ladle, marked ' V. B.'; four silver table Spoons, marked ' B.'; eight or nine silver tea Spoons, marked ' D. Y. R.'; a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' B. 12'; a silver butter Knife sonie plated Forks ; a child's Mug, about size of small tumbler, silver, and marked ' W. J. P.', gilt inside and chased outside ; a child's Mug, plated and marked ' B. B. B.' ; the Contents of a Cabinet, which contained about 500 gold and silver Coins and Medals ; a dark brown silk and a violet silk Umbrella, both having white handles ; a black Overcoat, with light grey lining, having some papers and a cheque Book of the London and County Bank in the pocket; two black frock Coats, ribbed cloth, pockets in lappets, and small pocket inside left breast. The property of F. W. Lilley, Esq. : a silver tea- caddy Spoon, marked ' F. L. L.', and a cheque Book of Messrs.- Fosters' Bank, Cambridge. The property of Miss Cowland : a silver salt Cellar on three feet, having at the bottom of one foot ' W. C.', on the second E. P.', and on the third ' 1870.' Supposed by two men who left - ioyston by the 10- 25 Great Northern express train, the morning after the burglary : one about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 or 45 years of age ; was dressed in dark clothes, and tall hat; the other was shorter, about 30 years of age, had a sandy moustache, and wore a chummy hat. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Chesterton- road, Cambridge.— Bow- street, February 15. Stolen by means' of housebreaking between 11 a. m. and 1 p. m. on 10 th instant, from the cottage of Wm. Scutt, at West Hoathly : a lady's gold Geneva Watch, with flowered back, silk Guard and plain gold Seal attached ; a gold Pencil- case ; a dark red scent Bottle, with silver top ; £\ 1. in Gold ; about £ 1 in Silver and Bronze Coins; also 2s. Od. worth of Postage Stamps. Supposed by two men who were seen loitering in the neighbourhood ( one is in custody) ; the other is about 25 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, small light moustache, light liair, proportionate figure, round face, and speaks very fluently ; dressed in dark coat, worn at left elbow and collar, pepper- and- salt trousers, worn at bottoms, brown hard felt hat, and small light boots, no nails, ( supposed blucher make). Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Grinstead, East Sussex.— Bow- street, February 13. the offender or offenders to Mr. Superintendent Rowbottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewicli, or to Sergeant Jones, Constabulary Station, Scholar Gx- een, Church - Lawton, - Cheshire.— Bow- si7- eet, February 20. Stolen from Condover Park, Salop, on the niglit of 16th instant : two white faced cheviot Ewes, in lamb, the property of Mr. Thaw burn, farmer. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Howells, County Police, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.— Bow- street, February 20. Stolen on the night of 5th, or on morning of 6th instant, from the stable of Mr, Thomas Orchard, farmer, at Woodwells Farm, near Leverstoek Green : a mare Cob, about 6 years old, 14 hands high, thick set, very dark iron grey, legs a little darker, lighter abou t the head, tail cut straight just above the hocks, rather low in the plate or ( withers), the mane towards the head inclines to lie on the near side, the remainder on the off' side, which is longer, good head and eyes. A reward of £ 5 will be given to any person or persons giving such infor- mation as shall lead to the recovery of the mare, and the con- viction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Thomas Orchard, Woodwclls Farm, or to Mr. Super- intendent Isgate, Police Station, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.—• Bow- street, February 20. Stolen from a stable, between 7- 30 and 9' 30 p. m., r on 12tli instant, the property of Mr. Charles Blundell, at the parish of Shoreham : a light chesnut Gelding, 13 or 14 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, rubbed round off shoulder, and some lumps tinder neck, carries his head rather high, a fast trotter, in good condition, value £ 30 ; also a set of light silver plated Harness, rather worn ;- 2 or 3 Collars, various sizes ; and another light set of Van Harness, brass mounted; 3 Reins ; 2 Cloths, one old, the other nearly new, marked ' C. Blundell, Shoreliam.' By two men, one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark moustache, and short whiskers ; dressed in light check overcoat. The other 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark whiskers guid moustache; dressed in blue overcoat, fastened in front with a large pin ; both wore hard felt hats. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Okill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow street, February 15. Description of a man charged on warrant with stealing a Horse ( recovered) on or about 7th instant : SAMUEL BRACEGIRDLE, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresli complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, no whiskers or moustache, and proportionate build ; dressed in velvet sac jacket, light trousers, blucher boots, hard felt hat, and may now be wearing a brown overcoat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Wardle, Borough Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.—• Bow- street, February 15. HOUSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Absconded from Goitrey, near Pontypool, charged on a warrant with having stolen five Sheep, on 13th instant, at the parish of Mamhilad : JOHN LEWIS, a butcher, native of Goitrey, Monmouthshire, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches hjgli, stout build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, small light moustache, a mole on cheek, and thick lips and prominent; dressed in dark grey coat, vest and trousers, hard black bowler hat, and light boots. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Mcintosh, Pontypool, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, February 20. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on 1st instant, from Bradwell- near- tlie- Sea, Essex, charged with embezzling and stealing certain sums of money, belonging to his master : GEORGE LARKE, other- wise PAYNE, 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, stout build ; dressed in drab coloured trousers, blue guernsey, black russel cord jacket, and billycock hat. Supposed gone to the North. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rutledge, or to Police Con- stable 15 Root, Brad well, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 18. Description of WILLIAM SMITH, alias TAYLOR alias FRENCH, alias FRANCE, who is charged on a warrant with having in October, 1877 ( With THOMAS MEDICI, now undergoing 9 months imprisonment) stolen 12 yards of grey tweed Cloth, a pair of Shoes, and two woollen Shirts ( recovered) : about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionate build, rather white fact- black straight hair, and dark eyes. He used to sell sham jewellery by auction. He is supposed to have gone on board some ship at South Shields. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Parks, Constabulary Office, Brampton, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.-— Bow- street, February 18. Further information respecting EDWARD LEWIS advertised in Police Gazette of 23rd ultimo, charged on warrant with stealing a silver lever Watch, with gold Chain and Seal, at North Risca, on 15th ultimo, and . which has been found pledged : lie has lost the second finger of left hand, and the top of the third fingsr smashed* has besn in the London Police aid in the Neath Police. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Foil, Tredegar, or to Sergeant Hale Blackwood, Monmouthshire.— Bore- street, February 15. Description of CHARLES STEWART BURGESS charged on warrant with embezzling several sums of Money the property of the Midland Banking Company, at Knighton' Radnorshire : he is about 21 or 22 years of age, 6 feet hi- d/ slight build, light coloured hair, liotle or no whiskers, sli° bi moustache, broad forehead, smill nose, and narrow chin ; usually dressed in a brown tweed suit, bowler hat, and lono- double- breasted Chesterfield. He left Knighton on the 6th instant. Information to be given to the Chief Constable Penybont, Radnorshire, or to Sergeant Rogers, Police Station, Knighton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February ID, Stolen between 4 and 6 p. m., on 13th instant, from the shop of 120, High- street, Ryde : between 12 and 16 silver Geneva Watches, ladies and gentlemen's, some bear the name of ' W. Maud, 120, High- street, Ryde,' on the dome and dial; 3 silver English Levers ; 4 silver Geneva, one with bold figures, one broken cylinder, one engine turned, crystal glass, without hands, one crystal glass, pale movement, wide bazel ; 4 or 5 ladies gold Genevas, two have the name ' W. Maud, 120, High- street, Ryde'; 6 ladies 9- carat gold Rings ; 6 or 8 gold Lockets ; 1 enamelled Do.; 1 gold Compass ; 1 gold Seal, white stone ; 1 gold Key witli do.; 1 pair of gold Ear- rings, all new. Supposed by a man, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark double- breasted pilot coat, and black felt hat. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Maud, for the apprehension and conviction of the offender and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Burt, Borough Police Office, Ryde, Isle of Wight.— Bow street, February 15, Stolen on 8th instant, from Grosvenor House, Eastbourn Sussex : an unbleached calico Chemise, woman's size, nearly new, and a large grey Feather, about 14 inches long. Supposed by a domestic servant who absconded during the night; she is about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, eyes and hair, and rather slight figure ; dressed in black cloth jacket, grey alpaca dress, black straw hat, trimmed with black velvet, and the stolen feather. Sup- posed to be accompanied by a man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, very dark hair, medium figure, has been a soldier, but now works as a labourer; dressed in black monkey jacket, fustian trousers, which have been mended on the " right knee, black boulder crowned felt hat, and heavy half boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Newnham, East' Sussex Consta- bulary, Eastbourne.— Bow- street, February 15. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Obtained by false pretences on 15th instant, from Mr. G. S. Payne, jeweller, of Abingdon, the following Property : a gold hunter lever Watch, No. 1044 ( found pawned at Oxford), a gold three- quarter open- face Watch, No. 37450, value £ 20 each, 1 Payne, Wallingford and Abingdon' inside both; a long link Albert Chain, compass attached, value £ 15 ; a large electro Coffee Urn, value 60s. ( recovered). By CHARLES TAYLOR, alias ROBERT JOHNSON, gave his address as Clifton- villa, Dorchester, between 50 and 60 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, full face, hole in left cheek, supposed from a tumour, sandy- grey whiskers and moustache, and light hair, turning grey ; dressed in black overcoat, with velvet collar, black under ditto, grey trousers and vest, round soft felt dudley hat, common Oxford shirt, red mittens, spring- side boots, carried an umbrella, and wore a large steel Chain. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brabner, Borough Police Office, Abingdon, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.,— Bow- street, February 20. Absconded, charged on a Warrant with fraud : FRANCIS HENRY LAYLAND, late of 20|, Great Saint Helens, and 10, Cavendish- road, Brondesbury, Kilburn, 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, square build, dark brown hair, rather curly, small whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, full face and eyes, speaks quickly ; dressed respectably. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector McWilliam, City of Loudon Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded, charged with obtaining three gold Rings by false pretences: SAMUEL BARNETT, 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, eyes, and mous- tache, and no whiskers ; dressed in black ulster coat, black trousers, vest, and hat. Lately resided at 34, Park Villa East, Regent's- park. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 15. Description of JANE CLARK, alias CHANCE, alias BENN, charged with obtaining £ 2 under false pretences, at Rugby : she was convicted at Stafford, at the Epiphany Sessions, 1877, and imprisoned for 6 months for fraud at Tamworth ; she has also obtained £ 70 in the neighbourhood of Birmingham from different parties in the name of Miss Chance. She is 24 years of age, a native of South Wales, 5 feet 2J inches high, stout build, very fresh and rosy com- plexion, grey eyes, brown hair, and very lady like in her manner ; dressed, when last seen, in a black dress, jacket, aud hat, with strong lace- up boots. Supposed staying in the neighbourhood of Birmingham. Warrant issued. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Palmer, Police Office, Rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, February 15. Absconded, charged with fraud : JACQUES FRANK, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, pale complexion, black hair and moustache, and thin face : well dressed, overcoat with fur collar and cuffs. MOSES HARTOG, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, black hair and moustache ; well dressed. Both Dutch Jews, and can speak English, German, and French. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland- yard, London, S. W. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, A Division, February 15. Description of F. E. SUCKLIN, alias A. DRYSDALE, 2, Great George Street, Westminster, charged with obtaining £ 5 by means of a false Cheque, drawn on Messrs. Cocks, Biddulph, and Co., Charing Cross : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, no whiskers or moustache, fresh complexion, brown hair ; dressed in a bine overcoat, with velvet collar, dark tweed trousers and vest; has been a clerk at Mr. Clean's, Great George- st., Westminster. Supposed to be in possession of a Cheque Book, issued to Mr. McClean in 1873. Warrant issued. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Palmer, Police Office, Rugby, Warwickshire. — Bow- street, February 15. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of THOMAS LODER BRADSHAW, a currier, who on 13th instant was committed for trial at the next Beds Assizes, charged with steiiling a quantity of Leather from his. employers, at Leighton Buzzard : 32 years of age, 5 feet ( U inches high, fresh complexion, prominent grey eyes, oval face, dark hair, brown whiskers and mous- tache, aud rather slightly built. States he has worked at Scarborough, Wainfleet, Sheffield, Horncastle, Boston, and Bristol. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Shepherd, Leighton Buzzard, Beds.— Bow- street, Feb. 20. Committed for trial at the ensuing Devon Assizes, on t charges of larceny : ANN WHITE, alias MARY WOOD 32 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, brown hair, dark com- plexion; grey eyes, and has lost two upper teeth. She was convicted of larceny at East Stonehouse on 2nd July, 1875, and sentenced to 3 months hard labour in the name of Mary Wood. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Con- stable of Devon, Exeter.— Bow- street, February 20. Description of THOMAS HENRY BARRATT, com- mitted for trial at Spilsby Sessions, to be holden on 9th April next, on a charge of stealing a Watch and other articles : he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blind of right eye, long face, scars on spine, between left shoulder and left side of neck, right knee, and right wrist, cuts under right breast and both eyebrows, red birth mark on chin, nose broken, mole on left side of neck ; dressed in a black Melton coat, woollen cheeked trousers, grey vest, and low felt hat; a painter, and a native of Huntingdon. Was convicted of felony at Huntingdon Sessions, in October, 1873. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Richdale, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, February 20.
