FORGER?. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery: THOS. PARTRIDGE, late of 21, Islington Green, 28 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches, fresh complexion, brown hair, whiskeis, beard and moustache; dressed in brown overcoat, black frock coat and vest, dark trousers and high hat, Information to be given to the Inspector, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewery, E. G.— Bow- street, Jan. 21. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery: JAMES J. RUGERONI, native of Gibraltar, 27 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, short neck, pale complexion; dresses respectably. Information to be given to the Inspector on duty, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. G.— Bow- street, January 18. Absconded, charged with having on 5th instant, fraudulently obtained in an office of the Bank of Scotland in Glasgow, on presentation of two forged cheques, £ 1210 13s. 9d,, consisting principally of £ 100 Notes of Baid bank : x mar, calling himself G. HUNT, an Englishman, from 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, turning grey, very slight dark whiskers, ruddy complexion, full face, and rather stout make ; dresBed in brown overcoat, reaching to near his ankles, daik cloth walking coat, dark vest and trousars, dark scarf, with pin, and satin tat; walked erect. He is supposed to be connected with Edward J. Henderson, a member of a 1 Long Firm,' trading in October last, as stock and Bhare dealers at 13, Sout h Exchange- place, linder the name of 1 David Bond & Co.' A warrant exists for the apprehension of Henderson, charging him with forgery and fraud, along with three other members of * David Bond and Co.' Hunt lodged in an hotel in Glasgow from 1st to 5th instant, and he sent a young man to get pay- ment of the forged cheques. The Bank Authorities offer £ 100 for the apprehension o£ the forger of the cheques referred to and the recovery of the money obtained, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Chief Constable M'Call, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow.— Bom- street, January 18. l. Absconded from Bournemouth, on 13th instant: WAL- TER BURTON, a gipsy, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, slight dark vhiskers and moustache, daik complexion, and of dirty appearance ; dressed in black soft felt hat, dark rusty pilot jacket, dark vest, dirty cord trousers. " Well known in Hants, Wilts and Dorset. He is charged with two others, already committed for trial, with feloniously robbing Jesse Osman of 18s., and willi personal violence at Bournemouth on 12th instant. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brinson, Police Station, Ringwood, Hampshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Brno- street, January 21. BREAKING. Between the hours of 6 and 9 p. m. on 17th instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs Robison, of 6, Woodford- road, Wat- ford, me broken into, and there were stolen therein : a new Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Ironbridge, Salop,— Bow- street, January 18. Further information respecting the burglary committed at the vicarage, Dorchester, Oxon, advertised in Police Gazette of 16th instant, the following articles were stolen : an old double- cased gold Watch. No. 973, ' Hare, London'; gold Chain, Key, and Seal with caot of arms, crest— an eagle, with motto ' In Altum'; ormolu French Can- Clock, maker Itowe'll, Oxford ; Pepper- glass with silver top ; plated Tops of Ink Bottles; plated taper Candlestick plated Tea- Pot; three leather Purses, made by Carlisle and Watts, one with clasp, two with elastic, names stamped inside the flaps ' E. Bradbury, Thos. Cobb, and Jos, Bradbury, containing two Sovereigns, three Half- sovereigns, and three florins ; a brown silk netted Purse, with steel beads, con- taining one crooked Shilling ; three old silver Pencil- Oases, motto and Peacock on oneot them ; two pocket buck- bandied Knives, with blades and corkscrews; two ivory- handled Penknives, single blades; three small Ornaments, viz, : a silver Gondola, a silver Quaich, and an agate Snuff- Box, silver mounted ; sundry Egyptian and Roman Coins; an ivory Card- case; a green leather Card- case ; four pairs of Scissors ; a blue silk Needle- case, full of needles ; a black silk Hat, maker ' Juggins, Oxford.' Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Oxford.— Bow- street, January 18. Description of a man supposed to have committed the burglary at Burnley, on 10th instant, advertised in the Police Gazette of 11th instant: he is from 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, broad across the shoulders, fresh red face, Bullen looking, dark brown busby or curly hair, and brown whiskers all round the face ; dressed in light coloured coat, yellow coloured woollen cord trousers, soft black billycock, and elastic- Bide boots much worn. He was carrying a bundle tied in red and white handkerchief ; and was seen in a barn at a farm- house, near Melbourne, on the day after the burglary, where he left behind him a pair of goloshes and a bottle of brandy, pait of the stolen pro- perty. This is supposed to be the same person who broke into the Ship Inn at Everingham, on the night of 11th Lest, as described in Police Gazette of 16th instant, as the thief left there some joiners' tools which were stolen from Burnley. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Wood, Police Station, Pocklingtor, East York.— Bow- street, Januaty 18. Stolen from a jeweller's shop, in Wakefield, about 5 p. m. on 11th instant, by means of breaking the windows : A lady's gold half hoop Ring, set with five diamonds. A gold gipsy Ring, set with a sapphire on each side of a diamond. A ditto ditto set with an emerald on each side of a diamond. And A gold serpent Ring, with a diamond ] on each side of an emerald. Information to be given to Chief Constable Clarkson, Borough Police, Wakefield, Yorkshire.— Bow- it., January 16. During the night of 11th or 12th instant, ths dwelling- house of Mr. Hurlock, Prospect- road, St. Alban's, was entered and stolen therein : 3 silver Tea Spoons. 1 ditto dessert Spoon. 1 double case silver Watch. 1 small bronze Clock. 3 silver Pencil- cases. 1 gold ditto. 6 plated Forks, fiddle pattern. 1 small gold Brooch, set with cornelian stone. . Absconded, on 15lh instant, stealing a Donkey and Cart from Ledbury : a man, about 28 years of a^ e, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark hair and complexion, a little whiskers on chin, grey jacket, black cloth vest, cord trousers, soft high ' crowned black hat; 7 or 8 blue marks on left arm, suppjstd to be a tinker * and umbrella mender. Black Donkey with light nose, hair rubbed off on top of neck, under collar; Cart painted blue, with name ' J. Gregg, Ledbury,' and ' John Dobbs'painted on stdegunderneath, and Harness ," 2 > Sack Bags, one pair of steelyards, with ring to hold up with.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Blunsdon Ledbury Herefordshire. - Bow- street, January 21. Stolen from a paddock on Queen's Gate- road, near Beverley, between 1 and. 6 p. m. on 12th instant: a bay thoroughbred Mare, heavy in foal, aged, stands 15£ hands high, Shortish tail, and no shoes oa hind feet, small star on forehead. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Naylor, East Riding Constabulary, Beverley.— Bm- street, Jvivuttry 21 Stolen on the night of 17th instant, from a fluid in Sandbach, a year old black- faced South Down Shropshire Whether. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Roubottom, Constablary Statioa, Middlewich, Cheshire,-— Bow- street, January 18. Further information respecting ths Mare, Cart, and Harness advertised in Police Gazette of 14th ultimo, as stolen from East Grinstead: the nsars has been thrown down, leaving scats on knees, instead of plain chesnut she is between a bay and chesnut, and advances one foot when standing, also a little taller than previously described. Sup- posed stolen by two men, who were seen at East Grinstead fair, aLd who frequent the London and country markets; let, 24 to 25 years of age, short, good- looking, dark eyep, black hair, email moustache, well- built, and of gipsey appear- ance ; dressed in dark mixture overcoat and low billycock hat. 2nd, 31 or 32 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, cateiact in one eye, well- built, atd has been fond of fighting, a horse coper; dressed in silk hat, long coa, t, and tight trousers. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Yos for information that will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the thieves and recovery of the property stolen. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Berry, East Grinstead, Sussex,— Bm- a', reei, January 18. Found at Yardley ( supposed stolen), a chesnut cpg Gelding, aged, 13 hands high, white blaze down forehead, short tail, ard in fair condition. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simmons, Coleshill, or to Inspector Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, January 16. Stolen between 4 p. m. 11th, and 10 a, m. 12th instant, from a field at Pippin Hall farm, Eltham : a bright bay nag Mare, rising 4 years old, 15 hands 1 iuch high, near hind fetlock white, off do, partly white, rough coat, no shoes, small scar on near side of body, in good condition.— Metropolitan Pulice, R Division, January 16. Description of a man who gave the name of WILLIAM DAVIS, supposed to be a native of Lancashire, who ab- sconded from Wells on 15th instant, charged with stealing a blue cloth Reefer Jacket ( recovered) ar. d a faded red and yellow cotton Handkerchief, the pioperty cf George Henry Cox, a fellow lodger : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers at the sides of face, shaves top lip and chin, square shoulders, atd walks erect; dressed in old black cloth jacket ( mush faded), brown sleeved waistcoat, light cord trousers, light faded handkerchief round neck, and white soft bowler hat wilh black band round it, or black bowler hat, and Cossack boots heavily clumped. He stated that he had been a soldier, and it is supposed that he ia a deserter, as he left a shirt at his lodgings branded ' W. Davis, R. A., 1876,' and some other figures which have been defaced. He will likely seek employ- ment at stone- breaking. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bisgood, Somerset Constabulary, Glaston- bury ; or to Sergeant Vowles, Wells, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 21. Absconded 14th instant, from Kilburn, stealing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, and £ 3 3s. Cd. in gold and silver : a man ( tailor), 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark com- plexion and hair ; dressed in long black Ulster, greacl plaid suit, hard felt bat, carried a silver watch and chain ; is a native of Yeovil, Somerset. — Metropolitan Police, X Division, January 21, 2 POLICE GAZETTE January 21 Absconded, charged on a- warrant with embezzling various sums of Money belonging to his employers, on 1st instant: LEONARD STEPHEN DICKENSON, late manager to the Butchers' Hide and Skin Company; he is about 34 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches height, thin, black hair, - whiskers, beard, and moustache, unshaven, has a slight impediment in his speech, or lisp on commencing a conversation, has rather a short qnick step, and rolling gait; dressed in a brown suit, with blue overcoat, and top hat; resided at lodgings at the top of Constitution Hill, Birmingham. A reward of £ 50 will be paid for such information as shall lead to his apprehension. Information to be given to Major Bond, Chief of Police, Birmingham.— Bow- sireet, January 21. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: A R. COOGAN, late of 7, Orchard- street, Kensington, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slight dark whiskers, sallow complexion, and stoops a little; dressed respectably, usually wears a round hat, and is a clerk. May be accom- panied by his wife and a child, 6 months old. Mrs. Coogan is a tall, fine woman, about 34 years of age, speaks broken English, and is sunposed to be a German lady. Information te be given to the " Inspector, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C. - Bow- street, January 21. Description of CHARLES BATES, for whose appre- hension a warrant has been issued at Hastings, for stealing a pair of Trousers and a pair of Boots, at Hastings, on 9r, h instant: he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout figure, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in a while slop, cord vest and trousers, and billycock hat ; is a carter, and a native of Kent.— Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex, — £ ow- street Janua'y 21. " Wanted, at Dumfries, on a charge of theft, committed on 5th ultimo ( property recovered): CATHERINE GORMAN, 35 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, black hair, dark eye3, pale face, has a number of deep lines on skin of forehead, and proportionate make ; dressed, when last seen, in black sJuff dress, having one or two flounces, grey coloured shawl, and black bonnet. She is a native of Dumfries and a returned convict, but is now tramping the country, and when last seen was going towards England. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Dumfries. — Bm- street, January 21, Absconded, stealing from Ajr about £ 56 of the Foresters' Society; RICHARD BROWN, shoemaker, about 42 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches, or thereby, high, stoutish make, fair hair, beginning to turn grey, thin fair whiskers and moustache, much pock pitted, round full face, sharp nose, slight halt, right foot intoed and rather deformed, walks erect; is thought to be a native of Ireland, but has been mostly brought up in Yorkshire, and speaks with a broken accent; dressed in a dark tweed suit, blue topcoat, and soft felt hat. He was Secretary for the Ayr District of the Foresters' Society, uplifted this money on the 14th instant, ana ab conded with it on 15th. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent M'Donald, Police Chambers, Ayr.— Boss- street, January 21. Further information respecting THOMAS OWENS, charged with stealing a silver Geneva Watch, from his lodgings 44, West- street, Leominster, advertised in Police Gazette of 9th instant: he was seen loitering about the Great Western and Cambrian Railway Stations, at Oswestry, on 9th instant, nearly the whole of the day ; he had a brown velvet collar to hiu coat, faded, superfine black cloth trousers, good elastic- side boots, brown kid gloves, and white cuffs, Supposed to have gone in the direction of Welshpool, New- town, or Wrexham. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Johnson, Borough Police Station, Leominster, Herefordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. Bow- street, January 18. Ab- conded, charged at Oldham with larceny as'a'Jmlee of a silver lever Watch : FRANK WILLIAMS, a clock and watch jobber, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and moustache : he moves on crutches, having lost the use] of ] both legs, and one foot only touches the ; ground. He has been in the employ o? Mr. Arthur Marks, Shudehill, and Mr. Thomas Duffy, 5, Danzic- street, Manchester. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bent- street, January 18. Absconded on 12th instant, embezzling £ 23 6s. and other monies of Messrs Jude, Hanbury and Co., his masters: GEORGE R. STURIPS, » bout 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, few light whiskers, and very slight moustache, walks quick, is very active, and of gentlemanly appearance.; generally dressed in dark suit, and black overcoat, black hard felt hat. He belongs to Gravesend at which place his father resides, and he may probably endeavour to leave the country. 2 guineas reward will be paid by Messrs, Jude, Hanbury, and Co, for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Malling, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 18. Absconded from Boston, on 14th instant, charged with stealing a pair of boy's new brown speckled corduroy Trousers ; a Hack silk Drees, recovered ; a black cashmere Shawl, with deep silk las- els ; and an old- fashioned plain gold Keeper Ring : MARIA WOOD, 48 years of age. about 1 6 feet 4 inches high, light hair, full face, and fair complexion ; dressed in black laca bonnet, trimmed with a wreath of light coloured flowers, cinnamon coloured ttuff dress, and short black jacket. She is a tailoress, and was convicted at Lincoln about 9 years ago for larceny. She stated she had been residing at Pocklington East Riding of Yorkshire; had a brother, T. Hemstock, residing at 30, Oxford- street, Werneth, Oldham, Lancashire; an uncle named James Parker, a farmer at East Keal, Lincolnshire; and a sister named Hipkins, at Shipley, Yorkshire.
