SCOTTISH POLICE. COUNTY OF DONEGAL • DESOIUPTION of David Bond, Edward J. Henderson, and Henry Johnson, natives of England, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1817, in tho city of Glasgow, fraudulently obtained from a gentleman in Donegal, a Hungarian bond for £ 300, with which they absconded :— 1. Red fleshy lips, double chin, squints a little with one eye, no beard or whiskers, about lt> stone weight; rod eyes, regular nose, red complexion, red tiice, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or ll inchos high, about 50 years of ago, reddish hair; wore a silk hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. v 2. Well built, slight fair moustache, fair com- plexion, red face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age; wore a gray hat, blue over- coat, gray trowsers and vest, yellow kid gloves. 3. Black whiskers and moustache, dark com- plexion, ordinary make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age; wore a felt hat, dark coat, dark trowsers and vest. Ballyshannon, Nov. 12,1877. DESCRIPTION of English licence holder Francis Hickey ( 277), who has broken the conditions of his licence in failing to notify his changc of residence to the Constabulary:— Convicted at Mahe, India, at a General Court- Martial, on 17th November, 1878, for insubordination and personal violence, and sentenced to 5 years'penal servitude; 30 years of age on con- viction, a soldior 49th Regiment, born in Clonmel, county Tipperary; brown hair, large blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular vj| age, 5 feot 7 inches high. The above- named convict was released from Portsmouth Convict Prison, on the 27th October, 1877, on an order of licnece. He notified his arrival at Waterford to the Con- stabulary of that city, on tho lith November, 1877, but he has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under tho 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Gonoral Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, December 19, 1877. DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Mathews ( 13780), who has broken tho conditions of his licence, in nut reporting himself to the polico on change of resi- dence :— Convicted at Castleblayney, co. Monaghan, at Hilary Sessions, on ICM. li January, 1872, for larceny, and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 30 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman catholic, single, by trade a painter, born in Castlebellingham; resided before conviction in monaghan; fair hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, regulnr nose, regular mouth, lost one upper front tooth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feot inches high ; a small cut and a sore- mark on tho back of neck; tho two small fingers of both hands crooked. Tho above- named convict was released from Spike Island Prison, on tho 10th October, 1872, on an older of liconco, and took his discharge for london, o^ tho 4th instant ; ho notified to the London Police Ins Intention of returning to Dublin, but hg has not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In tho event of him arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th sec., Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. General. Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, I Oth December, 1877. • ( 12154 M.— 19835.) DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Curling ( 2531) who has broken the conditions of his licence in failing to notify » to the Police his change of residence:— Convicted at Dublin, city October Sessions, on 3rd October, 1873, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude ; 46 years of age on conviction, c- m read and write, is a Protestant, single, a tutor, born in Galway; resided before conviction in College- green, Dublin ; his friends reside in county Galway ; dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, sharp nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5} inches high; slightly pock- marked, a burn- mark on right cheek, along the whiskers. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 18th September, 1877, on an order of licence, and proceeded to Dublin, where he reported himself to the Police. He resided for some time in . the Dublin district, but left his residence about the 1st October last, without notifying same co the Police. He has not reported himself since, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 11 Z. General Prisons Board, Lower Castle Yard, Dublin, December 13, 1877. ( 12117 M.— 16766.) DESCRIPTION of the Under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin:— Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sers and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go tuck by the steamship Germania. STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz. :— A brown leather portmanteau, J. C. on each end, canvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new dress suit, made by Buckmaster, Dawson- street, a morning suit, a shawl- pattern dressing gqjvn ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 2 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino drawers, 2 silk u. nder- vests; the name Buckmaster supposed on inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk and 6 cambric pocket- handkerchiefs, and some silk ties, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory halts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, a small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a Roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in Russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several reading essays, books, < fcc., a silver- mounted cigar case to hold 8 cigars a brown leather do., about 18 cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow, which they had in their possession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 « V. M., on the 10th instant:— # The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. The woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow has been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan, of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from, his lands at that place. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20,1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He is between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where his parents are supposed to reside. Antrim. • DESOBIPTION of Thomas Rogers ( mother's surname Hunter), native of Ballinamoney, who stands charged with having, o9 the night of the 6th or morning of the 7th December, 1877, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Ballymoney, stolen 11 turkeys and 3 geese, the property of James Canning, of Ballybreak, near Ballymoney, and with having absconded, he being bound by recognizance to appear and stand his trial at Ballymoney Petty Sessions on the 17th inst.:— Wants a tooth on right side cf upper jaw ; smal^ dark eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, fat red face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wijre a low soft felt hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a farmers's son. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Mather short neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 6 feet lO^ inehes high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, at about the hour of six o'clock, p. m., on the 10th instant, Mr. John Moffitt, of Clan- turkle, near Kinawley, in the county of Fermanagh, was fired at and wounded by some person or persons at present unknown : His Grace, for the better apprehending and bring- ing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, if pleased hereby to offer a reward of TWO HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within sis months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same, and a further reward of FIFTY POUNDS for such private informat'on as may lead to the same result. By His Grace's Command, T. H. BURKE. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by Rodolphus Harvey, esq., the Resident Magis- trate at Enniskillen, to those who may become entitled to them under the conditions of this Pro- calmation. DESCRIPTION of 3 men, names unknown, supposed natives of county Cavan, who stand charged with having, on t* ie night of 2nd December, 1877, ill the barony of Demifore, parish of Oldcastle, been amongst an armed party of 8 men, who entered the dwelling of Joseph Cavanagh ( gamekeeper to J. L. Naper, J. P., D. L.), at Newcastle, seriously assaulted him, and forcibly carried away his gun :— 1. Unknown— Sharp nose, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a dark coat, striped tweed trowsers; this man carried a revolver, and had his face partially blackened. 2. Unknown— Stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age. 3. Unknown— Round face, medium make, 6 feet @ inches high, about 35 years of age; wore a soft jerry hat, bright tweed coat, tweed trowsers. Kells, December 3, 1877. ( 15302 c.— 36860.) DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 18th December, 1877, absconded from the Spark's Lake Reformatory School at Monaghan:— Mary Anne Hardy, No. 232, 15 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches nigh, stout make, fair complexion, light hair, cut to the ears, large and fixed dark gray eyes, short nose, la- ge mouth, broad and short visage; formerly belonged to Waterside, Derry, where her parents reside; said to have gone to Glasgow. The School dress, all with No. 232, consists of— dark blue cotton dress, gray wo ) llen shawl, loose cotton jacket with short sleeves, white calico necker- chief, dark gray knitted stockings, strong leather boots, laced and na led. No suspicion of aid given; was heard to inquire distance to Belfast; was traced 2 miles on Cootehill road; no knowledge of this part of the country. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of her conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture her with £ 1. ( 12205 m.— 19931.) M , by some person or persons not known, from the shop of Patrick Sweeney, of Strokestown, parish of Bumlin, and barony of Roscommon, viz. :— A silver lever watch, No. 15,798 ( Donegan, 32, Dame- street, marked on dial), gold Albert chain and gold locket attached; the locked on one side represents a heart, and is aliased on the other; all value for £ 9 13s. 6d. Sligo. • The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following •• DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone :— Down looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders s it is also stated that hunt's left wrist is tattooed; glaring black eyos, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval fa c, stout make, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest.
