Description of GEORGE MARSHALL EARLE, emanded at Easingwold until 28th instant, charged with ttempting to murder Police Constable Charles Bell, near Jasingwold, on the night o£ 20th instant. He is 42 years of ge, 5 feet inches high, brown hair, - whiskers, beard and j mustache, iresh complexion, crooked nose, and propoitiocate ! mild; dressed in pilot cloth jacket, black cord jacket under- eat. h, woollen cord trousers, soft black billycock hat, and troEg lace- up boots. States he is a gardener, a native o£ fork, and has a wife living at Bramley Bear Leeds; travels he country with a dark dun- coloured pony and a heavy cart, le was convicted at Easingwold in April, 1869, and sen- enced to 2 months imprisonment, at Northallerton Gaol, for ireeny. Found on the afternoon of 2nd instant, in the Steyne Gardens, Worthing, the dead body of a newly- born full- rown Female Child, wrapped in a piece of old black maioon, ind tied in a piece of old black alpaca. The Child had been , lead about 10 days. At the Coroner's It quest a verdict of Wilful Murder against some person or persons,' was found. I reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Govern- flent to any person, other than a person belonging to a police orce in the United Kingdom, who shall give such informa- ion and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction if the murderer or murderers ; and the Home Secretary will id vise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any tccomplice, not being the person who actually committed the nurder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Beaumont, , f Lichfield, was assaulted and robbed of a red Russia Purse, iontaining £ 7 in Gold and some Silver, whilst riding on torse back, between Swinfen and Lichfield : by three men, > ne of whom is about 28 years of age, short, dark complexion tnd moustache, supposed to have a beard, and wearing a dark j illy cock. Can give no description of the other men, only hat one of them had a bundle wrapped in blue and white Dotted handkerchief, and each had a stick; they ran off icrcss the fields in the direction of Tamworth. During the night of 21st instant, a navvy's hut at Corb? Northamptonshire, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : j£ 349 iu Gold, and some silver and Coppei Money. SAMUEL GOUGH. is in custody on suspicion and is remanded until 9th proximo, he is a briekmaker 47 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, . rather bale on forepart of head, dark whiskers, turning grey, shaves sides of face, and stout build. Siatss he : s a native of Silby- < oak, Worcestershire. He kept an earthenware shop in ; Hereford until Apiil last, when he was committed for 6 months hard labour for a violent assault. During the night of 13th or early on the morning of 14th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Cornelius Baverstock, Shalbourn, Wilts, v. aa broken and entered and stolen therein : a small bronze Time- piece Stand, in the shape of a | castle, and the Works of an old metal watch; two large I silver table Spoons, with plain handles; a silver tea Spoon, with trade mark on back of the hano'le ' W. Between 12 noon and 2 p. m. on 15th instant, the dwelling house ot Mr. Joseph Woodbridge, at Chipping Wycombe, was broken and ecteredj and stolen therein : a silver Brooch, pattern lover's knot set with four stones; 2 plated Brooches, each set with one stone; 1 go'd Albert, sn a 1 links, with gold seal attached ; and 15s. in Money. . Also about the same time the dwelling- house of Mr. Charles Purdue, at Chipping Wycombe, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 3 £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 83618— 20; £ 3 in Gold ; a pair of old- fashioned gold Earrings, with long pear- shape drops ; a pair of coral ditto; a gold Brooch, set with an amethyst ; a ladies gold Watch 0Alain, small links ; a set of gold Studs; a silver Snuffbox, ribbed; a small silver pencil Case; and a child's silver Knife, Fork, and Spoon to match. By two men, one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers ; dressed in dark grey suit, and black hard felt hat. The other 30 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black moustache; dressed in long dark ulster coat, dark trousers, and high black silk hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Sargent, County Constabulary, Chipping Wycombe, Bucks.— Baw- street, Dacember 19. mO'EMM JiMB OATTLM SfSiOSGl During the night of 2lsfc instant, a yearling Ram, the property of Mr. William Holder, of Bayston, salop, was feloniously stolen from out of a field at Bayston Hill, and afterwards slaughtered in the neighbourhood and the skin and he ai attached, has since been found hidden in a culvert under the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway, near Bayston Hill. Information to be given to Mr, Superintendent Howell's, County Constabulary, Shrewsbury.— Bcw- street, December 28, Stolen from a field near Sutton Park, Shenstone, during the night of 23rd instant: a yearling Lamb, with black legs and face. Information to be given to Sergeant Hammond, shenstone, near Lichfield, Staffordshire.—. bow- street, Dec. 28. Supposed stolen from Netherton, near Pershore : a roan colt cart Horse, rising 3 years old, has a blister mark on near side of head, is very quiet, having been reared by hand. ,£ 5 reward will be paid on recovery oi the Colt, and conviction of the offenders. Supposed stolen from Bayston Hill, Salop, on the night of 21st instant : a yearling Rain, of the Shropshire down breed, ' W. Found near Saint Neots, on 10th instant: a dark brown mare Pony, between 13 and 14 hands high, about 6 years old, bang tail, little white hair about fetlocks. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Copping, St, Neots, Hunts. — Bow- ttreet, Decanter 27. Description of GEORGE HENRY SHORE, alias SHAW, charged with stealing a Pony from Pointon Fen on 15th instant, sicce recovered ; he is 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 ieches high, rather stout build, black hair and eyes, very little dark whiskers; dressed in blue pilot jacket, patched on the back, drab slop underneath, fuatian trousers, strong boots, black soft billy hat-, but eometime- s wears a black hairy j cap; he ia a native of Tydd Goots. Has been working at i thrashing machines, and previous to that was in farm service. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brown, Bourn, Lincolnshire.— Bw- itreet, December 27. Supposed stolen from the Varteg Mountain, Trevethin, Monmouthshire, about 26th ultimo : a mouse- coloured Mare, 4 years old, 13£ hands high, black stripe across the shoulders and along the back, in good condition, ia shod, and scrapes a little with one hind foot when walking. Committed for trial at the next Salford Hundred Quarter Sessions, on a charge of cattle stealing at West Houghton, Lancashire: a cattle dealer named MICHAEL ROGERS, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 it ches high, fresh com- plexion, dark brown ha'r, grey eyes, hare lip, hook nose, without roof to his mouth, rathe": round shouldered, and defective in his speech. He is a native of Ballyhaunis, co. Mayo. Ireland, ai: d has been in custody for similar offences in Yorkshire. Description of JOHN BARRINGTON, butcher, alias BENT NOSE JACK, charged with stealing a Pony at Carlton Cohille, on the night of 12 th instant: about 25 years ef age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, light hair, cut short, and light complexion ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, light cord trousers, fitting tight to the legs. Stolen from a field at Hartlebury, about 17 tlf ultimo: a chesnut mare Pony, the property of Mr. Robert Green, of Astley : 3 years old, about 13 hands high, white mane and tail, a littls grey spot oil one side, hardly noticeable, and shod all round. A reward of £ 3 will be given to any person who will give such information as will lead to the reeovery of the pony, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Found ou 4th instant: an aged datk brown mare Pony, about 12 hands high, bang tail, rather long mane, in fair condition, no white marks can be seen upon her. He is fi om 27 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair com- plexion, no whiskers, light moustache, and bro » ra hair; dressed in a dark mixture coat and vest, light brownish- looking trousers with patch on right knee, and dark or grey clcth cap with peak ( and it may have a peak behind). He is supposed to belong to the neighbourhood of Woolpit, Suffolk. It is probable he will apply for employment at horse dealers or inns Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Lambley, Swaffham, Norfolk,— Bow- street, December 27. Stolen from a pawnbroker's shop, in Hull, on 18th instant: a gold Geneva lever Watch, No. 11612. By a man about 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight! moustache, no whiskers, rather stoutish built, and of respec- j table appearance, who asked the pawnbroker to let him look at the Watch and then ran away with it. Information to be ' given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bov>- Hreet, December 27. Stolen from a farm house at Birlingham, near Pershore, on 20th instant: a pair of shootinu Boots, watertight?, brass lace holes and books, sprigs in the soles and heels. Supposed by a tramp, 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair worn with one curl on each side of head, no whiskeis, and red face; dressed in a long dark coat, black hat, old shoes worn down at heels. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stanton, Police Office, Pershore, Worcestershire.— Em- street, December 27. Absconded since September last, stealing four bales of Wool: FRANK HAMMOND, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, stout build, pale complexion, slight tuft on chiD, biown hair, slouching gait, and of respectable appearance. Is now supposed to bo travelling the Province with Cigars and Tobacco. Is very talkative, especially on racing matters, and fond of company. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland- yard, London, S. W. Warrant issued,— Metropolitan Police, A Dividm, December 27. Further information respecting the Watches stolen by SAMUEL BAERNCOPH, from Joseph Harris, of Wolver- hampton, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 5th instant: it has been ascertained that the following Watches have a'so been stolen, and marked ' J. Harris, Wolverhampton.' 3 gold Levers, one centre seconds, No 82040, one flat glass, No. 40155 one white dial, No. 46261 ; 2 silver lever Watches, one silver dial, No. 4645, one enamel dial, No. 5C09. Ten of the Watehe3 have been recovered by the Manchester police, pledged in Manchester, and the Glasgow police have recovered the gold Watch, No. 40157, pledged on 16ih November in Glasgow by Baerncopb, who gave correct name and address. He is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair com- plexion, light hair, very prominent cheek tones, and large earp. He is accompanied by his wife about the same age. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire.— Boio- street, December 27. Description of THOMAS HINES, alias SPENCER, who absconded from Saint George's, Salop, on 23rd instant, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch, recovered ; he is about 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 ox 6 inches high, dark brown hair, cut short, slight cast in light eye, thin sharp features, slender build, BUS freckled face; dressed in old round pilot jacket, much worn, moleskin trousers, tight fitting cloth cap, red and white neckerchief, and clogs, all much worn. He will most likely be found sleeping in forges, iron woiks, ox- coal pit cabii s, is a forgeman, and a native of Hadley, Salop. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Merricks, Oakengates, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Dec. 27. Absconded from Inverness, charged with embezzlement of upwards of £ 50 : DONALD CAMPBELL, a law clerk and native of Forres, Morayshire, about 30 years of age, but looks younger, oval face, supposed grey eyes, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers, but hsd a slight mous- tache, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and slender make'. in- toed on one foot, and appears a little stiff ia that leg, stoops when walking, and had a blue mark on one, and per- haps both hands, by tattooing ; dressed, when last seen, in a blue reefing jacket, bound with braid, dark chequered tweed tiousers, and round felt hat. The accused absconded on 7th instant, and is likely to be found asking for employ- ment as a clerk. Information to be given to James Anderson, Et- q, Procurator Fiscal, Inverness, or to Mr. Superintendent Wyness, Police Chambers, Inverness.— Bow- street, December 27. Absconded from Inverness, charged with fraud and embezzlement or theft of £ 75 : SIMON FRASER, a native of Inverness, a railway clerk, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, full oval face, pretty large nose, and a little turned down at point, small ( supposed grey) eyes, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, thin fair whiskers, end on sides of head only, slight moustache, but may be shaved off, atout make, is pretty good looking, walks smart, and has a smart appearance, but his neck is short, and appears some- what stiff; dressed in blue coat, dark overcoat, dark tweed trousers, and hard round felt hat.
