XCZOtrSX. 7 A man, described in Police Gazette of 17th instant, charged with attempting to murder his wife at 3, John- street, Whitechapel, has been apprehended.— Metropolitan Police, H Division, December 21. Further description of MICHAEL O'NEILL, who is charged on warrant with murdering Police Constable William Peet, at Batley, on the night of 8th inst. : 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair, cut short, and very stiff and wiry, a labourer, born at Thomer, near Kilkelly, county Mayo, last residence at Batley ; had very slight brown whiskers and moustache just beginning to grow, round face, high cheek bones, two front upper teeth overlap each other, has a rather small chin and a dimple in centre; dressed in either black cloth coat or blue pilot jacket, either black cloth or moleskin trousers, cloth cap with earlaps tied over the top, and elastic- side boots. Howard Rice, at Sutton- Courtney, Berks, was burglariously broken into, and stolen therein : a silver Caddy Spoon, a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, and a Bilver Napkin Ring ( plated articles); a plain Soup Ladle; two Sauce Ladles, supposed marked ' R.'; a Gravy Spoon,- marked R', and Top of Pepper Bottle; two black Chesterfield Overcoats, one nearly new, the other much worn; two boys' astracan Caps, dark colour ; a silk Umbrella ; three pairs of men's light colour woollen Socks, new ; three ivory- handled Dinner Knives, much worn, maker Shepherd, Abingdon; an^ i three ivory handled Dessert Knives, good. Stolen during the night cf 14th instant, by means of breaking a pane of glass in the window, and entering the railway station at Nescliffe, and stealing therein : 16s. yd. in Silver, the property of the Potteries, Shrewsbury, and North Wales Railway Company. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, Dec. 19. During the night of 13th or early on Ihe morning of 14th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Cornelius Baverstock, Shalbourn, Wilts, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a small bronze Time- piece Stand, in the shape of a castle, and ihe Works of an old metal watch; two large silver table Spoons, with plain handles; a silver tea Spoon, with trade mark on back of the handle 4 W. E'; an old fashioned Box, marked ' Juvenile Collecting Box,' containing about 30s. in Gold, £ 3 10s. iii Coppers, and £ 5 in Silver ; a double- breasted black or blue cloth Overcoat, has been turned, scarlet plaid lining in the skirts, dark bone buttons, collar ripped on the outside ; a dark Indian siik Handker- chief ; and a pair of black kid Gloves in the pocket. Between 12 noon and 2 p. m. on loth instant, the dwelling house of Mr. Joseph Woodbridge, at Chipping Wycombe, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a silver Brooch, pattern lover's knot set with four stones; 2 plated Brooches, each Bet with one stone; 1 gold Albert, small links, with gold seal attached ; and 1 Ss. in Money. Also about the same time the dwelling- house of Mr. Charles Purdue, at Chipping Wycombe, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 3 £ 5 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 83618— 20; £ 3 in Gold ; a pair of old- iastiioned gold Earring-*, with long pear- shape drops ; a pair of coral ditto; a gold jbrooch, set with an amethyst ; a ladies gold Watch Chain, small links ; a set of gold Studs; a silver Snuffbox, ribbed; a small silver pencil Case ; and a child's silver Knife, Fork, and Spoon to match. By two men, one about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers ; dretssd in dark grey suit, and black hard felt hat. The other 30 or 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, dark complexion, black moustache ; dressed in long dark ulster coat, dark trousers, and high black silk hat. During the night of 12th instant, the rasidecce of Mrs. Arnott, of Englefield Green, Surrey, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black ebony Cruet Stand, thirteen fittings ; two pianoforte Candlesticks, silver; a silver tea Spoon, crest— dove and olive branch ; and two Umbrellas. Stolen from a field at Kinderton, on 18th instant: a large brown faced South Down Sheep, the property of Mr. Cocke. Information to be given to M.. Stolen on the night of 18th instant, from a field situate at Sedgley Park Farm, Sedgley : a store ram Sheep, and an Ewe do., in Iamb, the property of Mr. Samuel Bannister. Stolen from a field at Hartlebury, about 17th ultimo: a chesnut mare Pony, the property of Mr. Robert Green, of Astley : 3 years old, about 13 hands high, white mane and tail, a little grey spot on one side, hardly noticeable, and shod all round. A reward of £ 3 will be given to any person who will give such information as will lead to the recovery of the pony, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from the person at Cubley, on 1st instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 959077, white dial, seconds bands, engine turned case, engraved ' Waltham Mass,' and bronze chain with brass Seal, having the words ' God speed the Plough ' upon it, an imitation Spade Ace Guinea and Key attached. B.' with coronet, maker ' Charles Stolen on the morning of 35th instant, from a field near the Canal Bank, Broningion, Flintshire: a cross- bred Ewe Frodsham.' No. 03366, a Cose linked long gold Chain, with a! Sheep, heavy m lamb, marked with a > T.' in a circle in pitch shorter one attached, on which were. two gold Keys, set with ' oa tlie near side. Supposed by boatmen, one wearing heavily an oval gold Locket, with black ( iws on the out- j hailed boots, a second wearing smaller sized fancy clogs, shod with iron, pointed at the toes. HOWK B1MKII& On the night of 11th instant, Woodfield Lodge, parish of Clayton, was broken into, and the undermentioned Oil Paintings stolen, the property of R C. Bayntun, Esq., viz, : turquoise side, and a long shark's Tooth, set with a aiua!! gold band ; a gentleman's silver lever hunting Watch, maker ' Charles Frodsham,' No. 17847 ; a thick gold cable Albert Chain, • with three crystal Lockets attached, contaiuir g hair; gold Seal with coronet and ' B.' upon it. By two men, both short, wore billycock hats, and rough Bhort pea jackets, one had a very florid complexion, round face, aud no whiskers. £ 500 reward will be jaid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Flood, Newport, or to Inspector Allen, Saffron Walden, Essex.— Bow- street, December 17. Stolen between 11 a. m. and 12 30 p. m. on 16ih instant, from the house of Thomas Breakwell, Beeches- road, West Bromwich : a gold Locket, a photo - on one side, and engraved upon it ' In memory of W. H. C.'; a gold Pencil" Case, worked ; a gold Seal, with white stone, ' W. C.' engraved on stone ; a gold neck Chain; a pair of gold Ear- rings and Droppers; a pair of Ear- rings in pale gold; a pair of tortoise- ahell Ear- rings ; a long silver Chain ; a small silver Geneva Watch in case ; a gold plated Albert Chain ; a Sovereign ; and 15s. in Silver. Entrance effected by forcing the back parlour window with a jemmy, during the absence of the family at Church. Burglariously stolen on the night of 14th instant, from Stolen from a field at Neenshill Top, during the night of 14th instant: a cream- coloured cart Mare, about 15 hxnds high, 4 years old, flop ears; the property if Joseph Hall. Information to be ' given to Mr. Superintendent Christie, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Cleobury Mortimer, Salop.— Bow- ntreet, December 17. Description of a man who gave the name of WILLIAM SMITH, for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued, for stealing from a field at Partuey, near Spilsby, on 4th instant: a red and white spotted Cow, recovered, which he sold by auction in Louth Pig Market, on the folbwirg day. He is about 30 years of aye, 5 feet 4 inches higb, rather stout build, red bair, very red whiskers, which are cut short and worn round the face, shaves above the mouth, and had the appearance of a respectable labourer or cottager ; dressed iu a long drab jean jacket, lined with checked horse rugging, supposed fustian trousers, and flat grey woollen cap, with peak of same material. £ 15 reward will be paid on his con- viction. Sup- posed native of Abberley, Worcestershire, and has worked in the neighbourhood of Neenton as a farm labourer. Description of WILLIAM HULL, alias GEORGE ROLLINGS, charged with having on 17th instant, at Gedney Dyke, stolen a silver Watch ( recovered) the property of Sarah Willmoore; be is about 36 yrs. of age, about 6 feet 7 inches high, slender build, sallow complexion, rather deaf, dark brown hair, [ whiskers shaved off, and moustache and beard about a fortnight's growth ; dressed in dark coat and vest, light grey trousers, s ripe down side, blue scarf, black hard felt hat, lace boots, with toecaps and loop a. t, top of lace holes. He is an engine- driver, and has worked at New England, Peterborough, is a native of Eason, near Stamford, and his father is now au inmate cf Stamford Union. Had a concertina in his possession. Description of AUBREY DE VERE HUNT, who absconded from Rochester on 4th instant, charged with steal- ing at East Malling, a silver Geneva Watch, ' Merox, Geneve,' on white dial, steel hands and seconds and a silver watch Guard, also the sum of £ 17 5s. iu Gold and Silver, the property of William Blundell, £ 14 10s. 6d. and watch Guard, has since been recovered : he is 22 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, slight figure, very upright, brown hair, slight moustache, and very slight whickers; dressed when he absconded in a thin dark coat, plaid trousers of a dark woollen material, hard felt hat, aud elastie- sida boots, with one row of buttons on one side, shabby genteel appearance. He has served in a Cavalry Regiment is well educated, and lately resided at No. 18, King- street., Troy Town, Rochester. Stolen between 12 neon, and 4 p. m. on 16th instant, from a field on the Gawcott- road, in the borough of Buckingham: a large black hen Turkey, had two white feathers in tail, the property of Mr. John Terry- Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Howe, Buckingham. — Bine- street, December 19, Stolen from a beerhouse on llt. h instar. t: a Geneva Watch, open- face, No. 8507 ; a dark Waistcoat, with breast pocket, an old 4d. Piece in pocket; and a pair of white Gloves. By a man who lodged iu the house, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dork complexion, dark hair aud moustache, and no whiaksrs ; dressed in hard black felt hat and black suit. Absconded from Hastings on 17th instant, charged with stealing 3 Watches, of Which he was bailee ; the property of Benjamin Culwick : a German watchmaker, who gave the name of TANNER, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins, high, grey eyes, bald on top of the head, whiskers worn only on the chin, aud turning grizzly grey, has a slight, impediment m his speech, speak a with a foreign accent, walks upright, and says he has been in the German army ; dressed in a grey coat, black double- breasted vest, dark trousers, and soft mix- ture coloured felt hat, aud had with him a mackintosh coat. Description of the Watches: a silver Geneva, No. 4115, maker ' Lecompte'; a gold Geneva, metal dome, white dial, No. 2611 ; and a gold Geneva, about th" e size of a florin. Stolen from No, 201, Parrock- street, Gravesend, between 7 and 9 pm. on 9: h instant: two gold gent's Rings, one set with a pink stone, the other paste ( imitation diamond); a pair of gold sleeve Links; two gold scarf Pins, one twisted head, the other set with oval stone; a set of gold Studs, set with garnets ; one Set, plain, gold ; two silver table Spoons, initials lG. F. E.' engraved ; two dozen white handle table Knives and Forks, maker Abraham Brooksbane, Sheffield ; several white handle pocket Knives, marked ' Present from Brighton'; and about £ 3 in Money. Supposed by a man, call, fair, no whiskers ; dressed in Boft billycock hat, reefing jacket, and dark trousers.
