He ia au underhand puddler, and is well known at Warrington, where he worked for the Bewsey Wire, Iron, and Steel Company. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Airton, Court House, Dewsbury, West Riding of Yorkshire.— Bois- sireet, Dec. 12. On the morning of 10th instant, the Body of a full grown male Child was found in a wood on the bor ders of the Borough of Maidstone, with its throat cut, and other marks of violence thereon, supposed to have been born on 8th ins'.: the body was wrapped in a piece of newspaper printed at Maidstone, a piece of tissue paper, a'piece o£ , strong brown paper, smelling very strongly of coffee, with'No. 2 Coffee Mill' marked thereon, and a piece of wrapper bound with fine string, such as is used by grocers or'. draper-. Cook £ 1 10a. in Gold, a single- breasted blask pilot Overcoat, two outside pockets on right aide, one on left side, and a good deal worn ; a grey - Woollen Shirt, stripes running each - way forming squares, and Ins been repaired behind with a piece of grey flannel with a red- dish- colour stripe running one way only ; and a pair of Larne lace- up Shoes. An old grey woollen shirt and two old odd shoes were left behind. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Tydeman, Police Station, Luton, Bed- fordshire.— Bow- street, December 12. About 7 p m. on 7th instant, tbe dwelling bouse of Mrs. Deakin, Hartford Lodge, Northwicb, was broken into, and stolen therein : two gold Brooches, one set with pearls and diamonds, the other set with Scotch stones; one dozen silver tea Spoons, with twisted handles and mouth piece, lined with gold ; two Purses of Russian leather, one black, with elastic band, and also one tortoise- shell Purse ; and £ 12 in Gold and Silver. Supposed by a man, 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sallow complexion, high cheekbones; dressed in a long daik overcoat, down to his heels, drab trousers, and hard felt hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rowbottom, Middiewich, or to Inspector Dutton, North wich, Cheshire.— Bono- iireei, Dec. 1?. During the evening of 9th instant, the post office, dwelling house, and shop at Yardley, Hastings, occupied by Mr. James Denton, was entered by meaas f skeleton keys, and stolen therein : a ladies old- fasfciontd silver Watch, supposed verge, washed with gold on outer case, glass broken, ' Joseph Denton' and female's name on inside, maker Killingsworth, Olney, Bucks; a silver open- faced verge Watch, maker Killingsworth, Oiney, Bucks; six shilling Pieces; three shillings in Silver ; about nine shillings in Coppers; 15s. Id. in penny postage Stamps ; 18s. 6d. in receipt Stamps; about 14?. in 2pl. Stamps ; about 10s. in halfpenny postage Stamps; 3s, in peisny and halfpenny postage Stamps ; 3 lba, of light Tobacco; 2 lbs. of dark do. £ 10 reward will ba paid to any person giving such informa- tion as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Supposed stolen from Ankerwycke Park, Wraysbury, Buck s on the night of 8th instant: a bay cob Horse ( aged), about 13 hands high, broken winded, long coat, in good con- dition, and has a dark patch of hair on <•; •• br. t', t ( supposed right) ; the property of Jonathan Smith, labourer. On 4fch instant, a bay cob Geldicg, well bred, aged, 14^ haads high, fresh clipped, goad condition, white star on forehead, white off bind fetlock, bang tail, partly hog mane, hoofs on fore feet ridged through being fired, and rather stiff on off fore leg, was stolen from the ' Catherine Wheel' Inn, Royston, the property of Mrs. Stamford : by GEORGE FREDERICK BARNES, late assistant master of Saint Stephen's College, Wahhamstow, Essex, about, 28 yrs o£ age. TQm.& mm.' Y. Absconded, charged on a warrant with uttering a forged order : W. M. JACOBS, 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache, turning grey ; dressed ia dark clothes, long dark grey overcoat, and high hat; known on the E Division, Metropolitan Police, and formerly employed at the Queen's Theatre, Long Acre. Sacks, new ; a flannel Shirt, nearly new ; a p. ir of Boots, cut all round the tops ; a black and white plaid Scarf; and two old Stockings, one brown, one plum Colour ; and a large jar of gooseberry Jars ; also a quantity of home wade Wine in a bottle, the bottle has since been found in a shed at Widford, and six plated Tea Spoons. During the night of 7th ins'ant, the workshop of a MMB MSOIIY WMVM Stolen from the person at Cubley, on 1st instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No, 959077, white dial, seconds hands, engine turned case, engraved ' Waltham Mass,' and bronzo chain with brats Seal, having the woros ' God speed the Plough' upon it, an imitation Spade Ace Guinea and Key attached. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Whieldon, Ashbourne, or to Inspector Hollingworth, Con- stabulary Station, Church Broughton, Derbyshire.— Bow- ttreet, December 14. During the night of 12th instant, the residence of Mrs Arnott, of Englefield Green, Surrey, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black ebony Cruet Stand, thirteen fittings; two pianoforte Candlesticks, silver; a silver tea Spoon, crest— dove and olive branch; and two Umbrellas. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, Cbertsey.— Bcus- sireet, December 14. 5 feet 6 inches high, light straight hair, high forehead, small whiskers, and alight nco istache, may be shaven off; dressed in black or blue cloak, mortarboard cap, and light plaid trousers. Stolen about 2s. m. on 12th instant, from a stable and cart bouts at East Grinstead, the property of Mr. James Vos : a chesent Mare, 11 years old, 14 hands 2 inches high, recently clipped, short tail, grey on back from suddle, grey hind fetlocks, and white f- s. ee; a tradesman's Cart, painted black, picked out with a small green stripe, removable sea!, iron plates at bottom, chains, hooks, and rings, falling tail board, a three cornered board on each side, painted red, with 1 Jas. Vos, Wine and Spirit Merchant, East Grinstead ( this board being screwed on may be removed) ; 2 sets of cart Harness, one light the otcer heavy, the pad of light set has been bitten ; 2 Bits ; a pair of extra round Reins; a Whip, with part of thong gone; a Saddle, nearly new; 3 Girths, one new two mended; a riding Bridle and Reins ( no bit) ; a Martingale ; 2 dark yellow horse Cloths, trimmed with red, shoemaker, at Chippenham, Newmarket, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 3 pairs of lady's new Boots, plain kid tops, one pair had iroa heel tip3, one pair with buttons, others elastic sides; a complete set cf shoemakers Tools. Supposed by a tramping shoemaker, about 35 years of age, very short and stout, no whiskers, full ginger moustache; dressed in round dark hat, old daik oveicoat, dark trousers, old boots, with elastic sides, and too large for him. Morton and Richardson, Wilson- road, Birchfields, Handsworth, were broken into and entered, and stolen therein : a man's dark blue rough cloth Overcoat, with velvet collar ; a boy's ditto ; a lady's short dark blue cloth Jacket, lined with black twilled silk, velvet collar ; a lady's saalskin Collarette, lined with brown satin ; a roll of about 20 yards of black Crape; a youth's black cloth double- breasted Jacket; a ditto Overcoat, velvet collar; a woman's grey waterproof Cloak, with crape round collar; a silver des- ert Spocn, ' Ernest' engraved on handle; a ditto ditto, ' Cathleen Hackett, born 9th May, 1840' engraved on handle ; a silver salt Spoon, marked ' J. C. B.'; ten electro- plated tea Spoons, • T. L — E. M.' stamped on some of them ; two ditto sugar Spoons ; two ditto sugar Tongs ; a ditto salt Spoon ; two ditto egg Spoons ; and two ditto dessert Forks. Supposed by low horse copers, who attended the fair at East Grinstead on 11th instant. One man, rather short, was seen driving the stolen Horse and Cart towards London. Stolen on the night of 4th instant, from a field at the White Stone, near Nuneaton ; the property of Mr. John Powers, farmer ; a bay C.' lt, risisg 3 jeans old, black legs, tail cut square with hocks, scar about a foot long and an inch wide leading from chest up throat, has been shod but shoes taken off when stolen. Found in the possession of CHARLES GRIFFITHS, remanded at Abbeydoore till 12th instant, at Pontrilas, oa 7th instant: an aged cream- coloured horse Pony, white star | on forehead, llf hands high, spavin on off hind leg, leather | on frog of right foot under the shoe, in good condition; supposed stolen off the mountains in Breconshire or Mon- mouthshire. He is 36 years of age, B feet 8 inches high, brown hair, light brown whiskers and moustache ; dressed in brown coat, dirty slop, dark vest, dirty fustian trousers, b'ack oilskin overall, navvy boots. Had a ticket in his possession for a top Coat, pledged at Mary Davies Worcester- street, Brynmaur, on lS. h. ultimo, cutnber of ticket, 989 ; aad. Kiss 2 P O L I C E GAZETTE. JLAJUNURR BMBEZSXEMESTI- Stolen from a saw pit at Shuckborough, between 8th and 10th instant: a pit Saw, 12- inch heel, 7 feet lorg; a | Space, nearly new; a cross- cut Saw, made out of an old pit saw, plate very thin, has but few teeth-, has two holes in the plate at the broad end. Supposed by two men, one o! them called ai the pit on 7th instant, to ask for help on the road, said that he could have work at Kettering if he had tools : one is SO of 35 y em o? age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dirty appearance ; dressed in cloth cap, dark monkey jacket- old corduroy trousers, mended iu front of legs ; the other 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes, sandy whiskers, and is of a dirty appearance. Description of L GALLARD, a Frenchman, charged on warrant with felony at Enville, on 19th ultimo : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, grey hair, small grey whiskers and moustache, dirk eyes slim build and deli cite, and a French cook ; has a wife residing at 143, Rue Da. ban 16, Paris, France, and a friend al 2, Carpenter- street, Mount- street, Grrsvenor- sqiiare, London, Information to be given to Sergeant Stevenson, Police Station, Kinver, near Stourbridge, Staffordshire.— Bow- ttreet, Dec. 14 Absconded from Pembroke on 8th instant, charged with stealii g several articles of Furniture, the property ol Mr. Edwiu Thomas: DANIEL THOMAS, about 32 yean of age, about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, black or dark t air. slight whiskers and moustache, sallow complexion, lorg visage, down- cast appearance, bow legged, turns in his toea ; he is a butcher, a. Welshman, and formerly lived in the neighbourhood of Pontypridd, Glamorganshire; generally wears tight black leather leggings, with straps outside, and baa a black- and- tan sheep dog in bis possession. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Haverfordwest, or to the Superintendent of Police, Pembroke, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, December 14. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing on 7th instant, £ 285 the moneys of his employers : a man, 19 years of age, & feet 8 inches high, stout made, rather sallow com- plexion, has had a boil at the back of his neck, which las left a red mark as large a shilling, no whiskers or mpustaehe, and heavy fcatutei; was r re- sad in slate and black check shootitg coat and vest, black round pot hat, black scarf, and laced boots. Was a clerk and collector. He w:- s accom panied by a woman, about 26 yearj of age, slight build, and fair complexion. Find in his possession twelve £ 10 Bank of England Notes, Noa. 34064 to 75, dated Manchester, 7th August, 1876 £ 20 reward will be paid by his late employers for his apprehension and conviction and recovery of the nsoney, or in proportion to tbe amount recovered. Description of a man who stated that he was under police supervision, changed with havirg on 30th ultimo, stolen a Coat ( recovered), from a brewery at Burton- on- Trent, where he went to ceek employment: he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet. 4 inches high, dark hair, sallow com- plexion, has a burn or evil mark on right side of throat, and a little hair growing upon it, has a cast in left ej e ( or both), and has the sppeatauce of a tramp; dressed in a long dark coloured coat, black billycock hat, and a pair of old lace- up boots, broken at the toes. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bowen, Police Office, Burton - on - Trent, Stafft rjghire.— Sew- ttreel, December 14. three of his fellow servants : a man, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light ha r, dark whiskers, slender built, wears lings in his ears, and had been in Mr. Watson s service as beast man about three weeks ; dressed in dark rough top- coat, short drab slop, cotton cord trousers, soft raddy hat, and strong lace- up boots; a native of Lincolnshire. Description of THOMAS MAPSON, a tramping clock and watch cleaner a native of Cirencester, committed for trial at the text Quarter Sessions for Monmouth, on two charges of disposing Watches entrusted to him to repair : he is 34 years of age, 5 feet 5i inchej high, proportionate itaake, - allow complexion, brown hair and moustache, grey eyes, and the right knee- joint stiff from a white swelling ; dressed in tweed coat and trousers and bowler hat. In his possession were found a number of pawnbroker' duplicates, the following relate to Watches : 21st April, 1877, at G. & F. W. Adams; New Swindon, silver Geneva Watch ( N- o. of ticket 918), piedged in tha name of ' Thomas Smith'; Slth May, 1877, at G. & F. W. Adams, New Swindon, silver l-'- ver Watch ( No. of ticket 1132), pledged in tbe name of ' M. Gardner'; 19t, h June. 1877, at George Neal. New Swindon, a silver lever Watch, in the name ot ' Thomas Smith, Ship- street, Old Town'( No. of ticket 466), No. on Watch 42220; 19ih June, 1877, at G. & F. W. Adams, New Swindon, silver lever Watch and a Ring, in the name of ' R. Smith' ( No. of ticket 1368; 22nd June, 1877, at George Neal, New Swindon, tf silver Watch, No. 68768, No. of pledge 552, pledged in the name of ' Emma Smith'; 13th July, 1877, at Myers Monoy, Commercial- road, Newport, a silver verge Watch, No. 8103, No. of pledge 957, pledged in the name of ' Thos. Smith'- The other tickets are in the name of Thos and Emma Pool, and are for various articles of Dress, & e„, Boots, Shawl, Cow, Sheets, & e., and the whole of the pledges are with Adams and Neale, of New Swindon.
