OR Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday, J" All Notices intended for insertion in tl^ e Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 1877. SCOTTISH POLICE. COUNTY OF DONEGAL. DESCRIPTION of David Bond, Edward J. Henderson, and Henry Johnson, natives of England, who stand chkrged with having, on the 23rd October, 1877, in the city of Glasgow, fraudulently obtained from a gentleman in Donegal, a Hungarian bond for £ 300, with which they absconded :— 1. Red flethy lips, double chin, squints a little with one eye, no beard or whiskers, about 16 stone weight; red eyes, regular nose, red complexion, red face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or ll inches high, about 50 years of age, reddish hair; wore a silk hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. 2. Well built, slight fair moustache, fair com- plexion, red face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age ; wore a gray hat, blue over- coat, gray trowsers and vest, yellow kid gloves. 3. Black whiskers and moustache, dark com- plexion, ordinary make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age; wore a felt hat, dark coat, dark trowsers and vest. Ballyshannon, Nov. 1J, 1877. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin:— Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed s in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sers and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. ( R. 1650.) the A STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz. :— A brown leather portmanteau, J. C. on each end, canvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new dress suit, made by Buckmaster, Dawson- street, a morning suit, a shawl- pattern dressing gown ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 2 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino drawers, 2 silk under- vests; the name Buckmaster supposed on inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk and 6 cambric pocket handkerchiefs, and some silk ties, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory halts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, a small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a Roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in Russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several reading essays, beftks, '• c., Ac., a silver- mounted cigar case to hold 8 cigars, brown leather do., about 18 cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. Informations to the Detective Department, 3, Ex- hange- court, Dublin. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow, which they had in their possession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 A. M., on the 10th instant:— The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. The woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the Cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow has been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from his lands at that place. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20,1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He is between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where his parents are supposed to reside. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Pepper, native of Ferns, county Wexford, and James Murphy, native of Wexford, who stand charged with having, on the 21st November, 1877, at the fair of Tullow, in the barony of rathvilly, parish of Tullowphelim, had in their possession two asses and an ass's dray for which they could not satisfactorily account, and which are supposed to be stolen ; they are remanded for 8 days, pending inquiry :— 1. Thomas Pepper— Cut- mark over corner of le't eye, walks as if lame, left wrist disjointed ; light gray eyes ( look as if weak), thin nose, pale complexion, pale face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair, fair moustache, a few fair hairs on chin ; wore a round jerry hat, brown serge sack coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest, has tender feet, boots cut in places. 2. James Murphy— Boat tattooed on right arm, bracelet and crown on left arm; full gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a soft round jerry hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, old i\ i ilitia boots ; says he is a native of Wexford and belongs to the Militia Description of the asses and dray:— 1. A dark brown mare ass, white nose, coarse legs, black fetlocks, old shoes on fore feet and new on hind feet, about 4 years old, and value for £ 2 It's. 2. A light brown mare ass, white legs and face, newly shod, 4 years old, and value for £ 3. 3. Dray— Bed body and wheels, one of the wheels like that of a jaunting- car, high side- boards, with bands of iron at both ends to fasten in shafts, short heels, no body- slats but well boarded, a set of pony harness or tackling, harness bad, one side strapped with iron, the other all wood. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Rather short neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest_ Mitchelstown, March 24, 1875. DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place :— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under th# chin ; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. Walsh, c. c. :— Slight twitching about the eyes ; hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair, light hair on jaws as if he never shaved; wore a low felt hat, old black frock coat, light tweed trowsers; is a servant boy. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of— corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, Scotch cap, strong nailed boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 2. ( 11917 M.— 19435.) The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achohry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone :— Doum- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders} it is also stated that Hunt's left wrist is tattooed; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest. Was in America, and lately returned frbm England, where he worked as a labourer. Has a pair of English- made navvy boots with iron plates under toes; also a pair of4ight Wellington boots. The 2 sheep, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 13th instant, have been found grazing on the public road, by the son of the owner. The articles of plated ware, belonging to the officers' mess of the 7th Dragoon Guards, described in the Hue- and- Cry of 19th October, have not been recovered. DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 16th November, 1877, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, parish of Toem, assaulted William Loughman, and taken from him a six- chambered revolver with a bright barrel of small bore:— 1. Weak beard, as if his face had never been shaved ; fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a dark ( cloth cap, blue jcloth coat, whitish corduroy trowsers, check flannel shirt. 2. May have a gun- shot wound ; dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 ' years of age'; wore a dark cloth cap, blue cloth cokt, dark tweed trowsers. Dundrum, Nov. 17, 1877. DESCRIPTION of Ellen Hickson, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 21st November, 1877, in the barony of Iffa and Offa West, parish of Templetenny, wilfully exposed her female infant child, by leaving it naked in a stream, from the effects of which death ensued on the ^ 2nd instant :-— Rather large teeth, separated in fi'ont; regular nose, fair; pale complexion, round face, stout mafe, 5 feet high, about 34 years of age, ffiir hair ; wore a black cloth mantle, much worn, brown lins dress, black jacket, two aprons ( one lilac, the othe black stuff), red Stockings, and stronglafced boots. ISCEIPTION of a person, name unknown, supposed na^ ve of Tyrone ( near Broughderg), who stands charged with having, on the 3rd November, 1877, at Broughderg, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Lissen, filtered the house of Edward M'Cullagh, at 9 o'clock, A. M. ( his face blackened, and armed with a pistol,), and broken open a drawer of a press and stolen therefrom £ 82 ; and also, with the pistol in his hand, threatened' Edward M'Cullagh's son, a boy of years of age, who was the oldest member of the family present:— Gray eyes, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high;" wore a tall hat, a lohg- skirted dark coat, old boots, broken at the toes.
