Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. jgiP All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1877. SCOTTISH POLICE. # COUNTY OF DONEGAL. DESCRIPTION of David Bond, Edward J. Henderson, and Henry Johnson, natives of England, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1817, in the city of Glasgow, fraudulently obtained from a gentleman in Donegal, a Hungarian bond for £ 30", with which, they absconded :— 1. Red fleshy lips, double chin, squints a little with one eye, no beard or whiskers, about 16 stone weight; red eyes, regular nose, red complexion, red face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 50 years t> f age, reddish hair; wore a silk hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. 2. Well built, slight fair moustache, fair com- plexion, red face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age ; wore a gray hat, blue over- coat, gray trowsers and vest, yellow kid gloves. 3. Black whiskers and moustache, dark com- plexion, ordinary make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age ; wore a felt hat, dark coat, dark trowsers and vest. Ballyshannon, Nov. 12,1877. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted 6n Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin:— Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sers and vest, and round . jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz.:— A brown leather portmanteau, J. C. on each end, canvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new dress suit, made by Buckmaster, Dawson- street, a morning suit, a shawl- pattern dressing gown ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 2 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino - drawers, 2 silk under- vests; the name Buckmaster supposed on inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk and 6 cambric pocket- handkerchiefs, and some silk ties, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory hafts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, a small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a Roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in Russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several j- eading essays, books, & c., < tc., a silver- mounted cigar case to hold 8 cigars, a brown leather do., about 18 cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. Informations to the Detective Department, 3, Ex- change- court, Dublin. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow, which they had in their possession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 A. M., on the 10th instant:— The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, ohin shaved, full and fresh complexion ; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. The Woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow has been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan. of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from his lands at that place. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20,1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He' is between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page ; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where his parents are supposed to reside. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Qastle:— Rather short neck, slightly round shoulder » ; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of a party who fired at aDd wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin ; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. ( 5182 o.— 16188.) DESCRIPTION of Timothy Donovan, native of Gur- rane, who stands charged with having, on the 18th October, 1877, at 5, a. m., in the barony of West Carbery, W. D., parish of Cahara, placed the infant child of Mary Hayes on the side of the public road at Inchingerip, and deserted it, thereby exposing its life to danger, he being the reputed father thereof:— Is delicate, asthmatic, and has a chronic short cough ; blue eyes, cocked nose, sallow complexion, short face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, fair hair, turning gray; wore a low soft black hat, threadbare black sack coat, moleskin trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. Constabulary barrack at Ballymore Eustace, whe, re he was . confined waiting transmission to Glencree Reformatory, from whichlie had absconded on 14th inst.:— Large brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 17 years of age; wore a black hat, black coat, corduroy trowsers and vest1 ( the trowsers and vest have the Reformatory stamp). DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 17th, November, 1877, absconded from the King's County Reformatory School at Philipstown •—- Patrick Kelly ( alias Joseph Early), No. 418, 16 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, broad nose, large mouth, round visage, cut- mark across forehead ; formerly belonged to 8, Wood- lane, Dublin, where his parents reside. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of— corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, Scotch cap, strong nailed boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will Reward the person who may capture him with £ 2. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Leahy, native of Clonalisk, who stands charged with having, on the 31st October, 1877, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Temple- harry, assaulted James Hogan, by striking him with a st jne on the head, thereby endangering his life :— Left eye is black from, a blow ; has square shoulders; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh Complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark ' pair, small dark whiskers; wore a jerry hat, gray frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer; belongs to the King's county Militia. DESCRIPTION of a tramp, supposed to be a native of Sligo ( gave the name of Matthew Foley), who stands charged with having, on the 11th November, 1877, at Killygrallen, in the barony of Monaghan, parish of Ballinode, seriously assaulted Robert Cook and Bridget Boyd:— Mark of old tear on right wrist; large eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, thin face, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a short dark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest ( patches on knees of trowsers of lighter colour), elastic boots ( much too large), and white and red worsted muffler; supposed to be a jockey or groom. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname' Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh. who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone :— Down- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders; it is also stated that Hunt's left wrist is tattooed; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest. Was in America, and lately returned from England, where he worked as a labourer. Has a pair of English- made navvy boots with iron plates under toes, also a pair of light Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 16th November, 1877, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, parish of Toem, assaulted William Loughman, and taken from him a six- chambered revolver with a bright barrel of small bore :— 1. Weak beard, as if his face had never been shaved ; fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a dark cloth cap, blue cloth coat, whitish corduroy trowsers, check flannel shirt. 2. May have a gun- shot wound ; dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age; wore a dark cloth cap, blue cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers. Dundrum, Nov. 17, 1877. DESCRIPTION of 3 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having,' on the 3rd November, 1877, in the barony of Glenahiry, parish of Inishlaught, and county of Waterford, attacked and robbed James Lonergan of 9s. 6d. on the public road :— 1. Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a soft low hat, drawn oyer his eyes, dark coat and trowsers; muffled up about the face. 2. Stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a soft low hat, drawn over'' his eyes, dark coat and trowsers; muffled up about the face. 3. Stout 1 make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age ; wore a dark coat and trowsers ;• muffled same as Nos. 1 and 2. Clonmel, Nov. 5, 1877. ( 14948 c.— 26297.) DESCRIPTION of a person, name unknown, supposed native of Tyrone ( near Broughderg), who' stands charged with having, on the 3rd November, 1877, at Broughderg, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, pari^ i of Lissen, entered the house of Edward M'Cullagh, at 9 o'clock,, A. M. ( his face blackened, and armed with a pistol,) and broken open a drawer of a press and stolen therefrom £ 82 ; and also, with the pistol in his hand, threatened Edward. M'Cullagh's son, a boy of 16 years of age, who was the [ oldest member of the family present :— Gray eyes, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high; wore a tall hat, a long- skirted dark coat, old boots, broken at the toes. DESCRIPTION of John Neill, native of Dublin city, who stands charged with having, on the 8th Novem- ber, 1877, in the barony of Ballinacor, parish of Derrylossery, stolen a horse from Roundwood fair, belonging to George Hatton ( horse recovered, having been left in Dublin):— Small hole in chin as if Jrom the effects of a . boil; smiling jace ; small dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age wore a brown coat, light tweed trowsers ; has a smart respectable appearance.
