All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 3, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1877. SCOTTISH POLICE. COUNTY OF DONEGAL. ' DESCRIPTION of David Bond, Edward J. Henderson, and Henry Johnson, natives of England, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1877, in the city of Glasgow, fraudulently obtained from a gentleman in Donegal, a Hungarian bond for £ 300, with which they absconded :— 1. Red fleshy lips, double chin, squints a little with out eye, no beard or whiskers, about 16 stone weight; red eyes, regular nose, red complexion, red face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 50 years of age, reddish hair; wore a silk hat, black frock coat, dark trowsers and vest. 2. Well built, slight fair moustache, fair com- plexion, red face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age ; wore a gray hat, blue over- coat, gray trowsers and vest, yellow kid gloves. 3. Black whiskers and moustache, dark com- plexion, ordinary make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age; wore a felt hat, dark- coat, dark trowsers and vest. Ballyshannon, Nov. 12,1877. ( 14863 c.— 26451.) AMENDED POLICE INFORMATION. THEFT BY HOUSEBREAKING. THERE were stolen, by means of housebreaking, from a house in Helensburgh. Dumbartonshire, between the hours of 5 P. M. of the 5th, and 8 A. M. of the 7th curt., the following articles :— A lady's gold ring, large opal stone in centre, set with diamonds; value .£ 26. A gentleman's gold watch, gold dial, old- fashioned, No. 16,792, maker's name unknown; value about £ 17. A lady's watch v( gold), old- fashioned gold dial, No. 1,892, name of maker unknown; value about £ 12. A gold locket, with two photographs of two ladies and two gentle- men ; raised monogram, with letters " C. F." on one side, and on the other side a crest, with horn, and written Blow, hunter, my horn ; " value £ 8. A lady' s gold necklet, with gold fringes at ends ; value £ 12. A long gold watch guard, serpent pattern; value f 10. A gold bracelet ( flat), French work, with dark blue enamel and pearls across band ; value £ 15. A gold brooch, set with diamonds, dark blue enamel; value £ 20. Pair of gold ear- rings, set with tortoise, gold fringes; value £ 5. Pair of ear- rings and brooch, Sutherlandshire gold, having cross and crown, and pearls in crown; value £ 8. Two gold signet rings ( gentleman's size), one with bloodstone colour; value £ 6 ; colour of stone in the other un- known; value £ 2. A small diamond ring ( half hoop); value £ 10. A sovereign. A plain flat gold bracelet; value £ 10. A gold horse- shoe brooch, set with four or five Scotch pebbles; value £ 5. A set of gold shirt studs, claw pattern, diamond in each stud ; value £ 10. Three gold shirt studs, figure of beetle in each; value £ 10. A Chesterfield overcoat, large size, fine blue pilot cloth, with small nap on it, lined with black silk, velvet collar, and bound with velvet. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, County Buildings, Dumbarton. Dumbarton, November 12, 1877. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICJ. G Division. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin : Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sers and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz.:— A brown leather portmanteau, J. C. on each end, canvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new dress suit, made by Buckmaster, Dawson- street, a morning suit, a shawl- pattern dressing gown ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 2 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino drawers, 2 silk under- vests; the name Buckmaster supposed on inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk and 6 cambric pocket- handkerchiefs, and some silk ties, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory hafts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, a small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a Roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in Russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several reading essays, books, < fec., 4c., a silver- mounted cigar case to hold 8 cigars, a brown leather do., about 18 cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow which they had in their possession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 A. M., on the 10th instant:— The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. Tlie woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow has been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan. of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from his lands at that place. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20,1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He is between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck ; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where his parents are supposed to reside. DESCRIPTION of James Madden, native of Shana- kyle, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 1st November, 1877, in the barony of Bun- ratty Lower, parish of St. Patrick, assaulted and attempted to violate the person of Ellen Dundon :— Wears all his beard, which is light and sandy ; generally keeps his hands in pockets when walking; gray eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, freckled face, medium make, 5 feet 7J inches high, about 2S years of age, light brown hair; wore a low felt hat, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Rather short neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 80th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two oi a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin ; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. DESCRIPTION of convict William Hodge ( 2472), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Constabulary on change of residence :— convicted at Kahturk, county Cork, at December Sessions, on 31st December, 1872, fof housebreaking and robbery, and. sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude; 25 years of age dn conviction, reads and writes badly,- is a Protestant, single, by trade a miner, and discharged soldier, 0' ith Begiment; states he was born in Bandon; county Cork ( supposed to be untrue, Falmouth is believed to be the place); resided befpre conviction in Cork; states he cannot tell' whether he has any friends alive or not; dark brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, angular visage, stout make, 5 feet Of indies. high : pockmarks on right cheek; an anchor on right arm, an eagle on left arm, a bracelet and crown on left wrist, and bracelet on right wrist ( all tattoo marks), D. on left breast; lost one upper front Woth. Theiibove- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 20th february, 1877, on an order of licence to be atl large, and took his discharge for Dublin. This man has been residing in the city of Cork, where he left about the .7th ultimo, without reporting himself, and has not since been heard of. In the- event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, October' 18, 1877. Sheil, alias Ryan, supposed to. be a native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the lltli September, 1877, in the barony of West Narragh and Reban, parish of Churchtown, stolen 2 heifers and 1 bullock, the property of Mrs. Maria Crawley :— Has lost nearly all his back teeth; has a grinning expression when speaking; has a loose swinging gait; gray eyes, large hooked ndgie, sallow complexion, long withered face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache; wore a brown faded frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, tweed vest; is a ploughman, and frequents low lodging- houses. DESCRIPTION of a tramp, supposed to be a native of Sligo ( gave the name of Matthew Foley), who stands charged with having, on the 11th November, 1877, at Killygrallen, in the barony of Monaghan, parish of Ballinode, seriously assaulted Robert Cook itiid Bridget Boyd:— Mark of old tear on right wrist ; large eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, thin face, about 5 feet. 7 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a short dark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest ( patches on knees of trowsers of lighter colours, elastic boots ( much too large), and white and red worsted muffler ; supposed, to he a jockey or groom. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh, wllo starids charged with having, on the 29th November, ult.,' in • the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with ' a large stone :— Doum- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek boric*. Ta\- ge heavy lips, sunken ja'ws, very broad shoulders ; it is also stated that Hunt's left wrist is tattooed; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches higli, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, anil vest. Was in America, and lately returned fro'm England, where he worked as a labourer. Has a pair of English- made navvy boots with iron plates urider toes, also a pair of light Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of William O'Brien, alias Black, alias Sheridan, native of Castlebar, who stands charged with having, on the 7th of October, 1877, in the; barony of Leyneyv parish of Achonry, entered * he dwelling- house of John Barbour and stolen 2 ferrets:'— tSmart active appearance; gray eyes, regular nose, ' sallpw ,( yurjpl^ xion, small fhin face, sligl^ t - make, 5 fedi 6 inches high, about 20 years of age,' black I hair; wore a large soft hat, black coat, gray tweed : trowsers, black vest; wears high- low boots. Stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore- a soft low hat, drawn over his eyes, dark coat and trowsers; muffled up about the face. 3.
