All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry, are to be transmitted under cover addressed to the Inspector- General of Constabulary. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. As the Law ( 48 Geo. 8, c. 140, s. 44,) only permits the insertion of Notices respecting Felonies, no other description of Notice can be inserted in the Hue- and- Cry. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned, who is wanted on Warrant charging him with having obtained goods by false pretences from trades- people in Dublin :— Charles Doyle, about 32 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark brown hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, pale complexion, and marked very much about the nose with small- pox; dressed in a dark tweed Derby coat, shabby gray tweed trow- sers and vest, and round jerry hat; he is a native ; came back from America lately, and said he had a return ticket to go back by the steamship Germania. . STOLEN from the North- wall, Dublin, on the 17th August, 1877, the following articles, the property of a passenger, between Holyhead and Dublin, viz.:— A brown leather portmanteau, J. C. on each end, fcanvas cover, same initials on ends, containing the following articles, viz.— a new dress suit, made by . Buckmaster, Dawson- street, ft morning suit, a shawl- pattern dressing gown ( red flannel lining), about 8 linen shirts ( 2 fancy), 2 night shirts, 1 pair of merino drawers, 2 silk under vests; the name Buckmaster supposed on inside of collars of coats, on inside of back straps of vests, on inside of waistbands of trow- sers, and on buttons of latter; 1 dozen collars, 6 silk - and 6 cambric pocket- handkerchiefs, and some silk ties, 1 dressing- case well furnished, 1 pair of London made razors with ivory hafts ( 1 of latter split), 1 French razor strop ( maker Eubriel), 1 pair hair- brushes in case, 1 long tortoise- shell comb ( a tooth broken), a large magnifying glass mounted in metal, U small do. mounted in tortoise- shell, a large white ivory double opera- glass, a complete set of ivory teeth ( gold springs), 1 fancy inkstand ( double cover), a roman Catholic prayerbook ( bound in russian lea- ther, a cross on cover), several reading essays, books, ike., & c., a silver- mounted cigar case to hold 8 cigars, a brown leather do., about 18 cabinet cigars, and 1 onyx breast- pin, with studs to match. DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow, which they had in their possession, and offered for sale to a butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 A. M., on the 10th instant:— The man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion ; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft jerry hat. The woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow has been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan. of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from his lands at that place. I JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20,1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He is between 17 and 18 years of age^ about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where his parents are supposed to reside. Information to the Superintendent, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Superintendent's Office, May 15, 1877. DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Boyle ( 2490), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not re- porting himself to the Constabulary on change of residence:— Convicted at Hillsborough, county Down, at Hilary Sessions, on - 7th January, 1870, for larceny after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude; 35 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, is married and has one child, by calling a dealer, prison trade a weaver; born in Killyman, county Tyrone; he resided before conviction in Belfast; his friends reside in Belfast; black hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, prominent nose, large mouth, dark com- plexion, oval visage, slender make, 5 feet 5£ inches high; a long cut in the hair over forehead. J The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 6th September, 1877, on an order of licence to be at large, and took his discharge for Liverpool, which place he left without reporting his destination to the Constabulary, and he is suspected of having gone to his wife who lives in or near Belfast. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5 th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, September 26, si877. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Smith ( mother's surname Reilly), native of Drumestagh, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of October, 1877, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Lavey, en- deavoured to induce a young woman who was pregnant to take drugs for the purpose of procuring abortion:— Slightly pockmarked; blue eyes, sharp nose, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair, curling under hat, small sandy whiskers, no beard or moustache ; wore a round hat, dark frieze coat, bright cord trowsers and vest. Is supposed to have between £ 30 and £ 40 with him, which he received from his brother, on a division of land to which he had a claim; is a farmer's son. Ballyjamesduff, Oct. 15, 1877. The special attention of the Constabulary- is directed to the following; DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of Cooladerry, county Cork, E. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Bather short neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. Mitchelstown, March 24, 1875. ( 5182 o.— 9507.) DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin; wore a cloth frock coat; had hit face blackened. 2. Unknown— Fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 85 years of age, large sandy whiskers; wore a soft hat, faded cloth coat. Mitchelstown, April 5, 1876. ( 5182 o.— 16188.) Eliza Comber, described in Hue- and- Cry of 2nd November, 1877, has been arrested and remanded to next Petty Sessions. Banbridge, who stands charged with having, on or about the 15th and 29th September, 1877, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, parish of Blaris, embezzled several sums of money, the property of his employers, " The Hillsborough Linen Company ( Limited) "-.— Holds hi* head down when walking; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, small dark whiskers and moustache; wore a low hat, gray frock coat, trowsers, and vest. Is a clerk. A Warrant has been issued fox* Ins Err6st Banbridge Oct. 14, 1877. ( 14700 c.— 25933.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Waters, native of Tallons- town, county Louth, who stands charged with having, on the 5th day of October, 1877, in the barony of Newry, parish of Newry, seriously assaulted his wife, Catherine Waters, thereby endangering her life :— Leans forward when walking; gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion,- thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark gray hair, small black beard and whiskers; wore an old straw hat, brown cloth coat, and moleskin trowsers ; there were marks of blood on his clothes, and the thumb of right hand was severely bitten by the woman in the struggle; is a labourer. A Warrant is in the hands of the Constabulary at Mayobridge for his arrest. Rathfriland, Oct. 10, 1877. "( 14660 c-~' 35863.) Gilbert M'Ilurick ( embezzlement) not arrested; Hue- and- Cry 4th May, 1877. Dublin. DESCRIPTION of convict William Hodge ( 2472)> who has broken the conditions of his licence in not reporting himself to the Constabulary on change of residence :— Convicted at Kanturk, county Cork, at December Sessions, on 31st December, 1872, for housebreaking and robbery, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude; 25 years of age on conviction, reads and writes badly, is a Protestant, single, by trade a miner, and discharged soldier, 65th Regiment; states llo was born in Bandon, county Cork ( supposed to bo untrue, Falmouth is believed to be the place); resided before conviction in Cork; states he cannot tell whether he has any friends alive or not; dark brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, angular visage, stout make, 5 feet 6| inches high; pockmarks on right cheek; an anchor on right arm, an eagle on left arm, a bracelet and crown on left wrist, and bracelet on right wrist ( all tattoo marks), D. on left breast; lost one upper front tooth. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 20th February, 1877, on an order of licence to be at large, and took his discharge for Dublin. This man has been residing in the. city of Cork, where he left about the 7th ultimo, without reporting himself, and has not since been heard of. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, October 18, 1877. Coleman Conneely, described in Hue- and- Cry, 2nd November, 1877, surrendered 1st November, and was bailed to appear at Petty Sessions 15th inst. Sheil, alias Ryan, supposed to be a native of Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 11th September, 1877, in the barony of West Narragh and Reban, parish of Churchtown, stolen 2 heifers and 1 bullock, the property of Mrs. Maria Crawley :— Has lost nearly all his bftck teeth; has a grinning expression when speaking; has a loose swinging gait; gray eyes, large hooked nose, sallow complexion, long withered face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 48 years of age, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache ; wore a brown faded frieze frock coat, cord trowsers, tweed vest; is a ploughman, and frequents low lodging- houses. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Nicholson, native of Wales, who stands charged with having, on the 1 3th day of October, 1877, in the barony of South Naas, parish of Connell, stolen 5 pieces of cloth and a silk dress, in a bass, value about £ 5, the property of John Douney, pedlar:— Slight halt, and stutters; large dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age. Naas, October 16, 1877. ( 14719 c.— 25972.) DESCRIPTION of Edmond P. Purcell, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 18th September, 1877, at Newbridge, in the barony of Connell, parish of Morristownbiller, obtained the sum of £ 3 by false pretences from the Troop Sergeant- Major, 5th Dragoon Guards :— Brown hair ; wears a moustache and very small whiskers; hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9J inches high, about 32 years of age ; wore a low hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest ( the tweed is light, mixed with red) ; he has a military appearance, having recently deserted from the 16th Lancers, in which he was Sergeant- Major; is known in some of the Dublin Military Barracks. DESCRIPTION of Patrick Leahy, native of Clonalisk, who stands charged with having, on the 3lst October, 1877, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Temple- harry, assaulted James Hogan, by striking him with a stone on the head, thereby endangering his life :— Left eye is black from a blow ; has square shoulders; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair, small dark whiskers ; wore a jerry hat, gray frieze coat, dark tweed trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer; belongs to the King's county Militia. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Constabulary at Knockaspur. Shinrone, Nov. 1, 1877. ( 14903 o.— 26237.) DESCRIPTION of Thomas Flaherty, alias William Henry Ford, who stands charged with having, on the 12th October, 1877, in the barony of Limerick, parish of St. John, escaped from the Limerick Lunatic Asylum, he being a criminal lunatic:— Gray eyes, aquiline nose, pallid complexion, peculiarly careworn expression of face, stooped make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair; wore a tweed suit, buttons marked Limerick District Asylum ; friends reside in America. Limerick, Oct. 14, 1877. ( 11625 m.— 18963.) The mare described in Hue- and- Cry, 2nd Novem- ber, 1877, was found straying. Robert Walsh, described in Hue- and- Cry of 26th October; not arrested. DESCRIPTION of the under- mentioned articles which were stolen from the officers, 7th Dragoon Guards, at Longford, barony of Longford, parish of Temple- michael, on 9th October, 1877 :-— 6 electro- plated table spoons, 4 electro- plated dessert forks ( with regi- mental crest on ornamental handle), 6 white- handled knives ( with the letters P. R. D. G. under crown on handle, Joseph Saunders, 33, Dame- street, Dublin, on blade). Longford, October 13, 1877. ( 14712 c.— 25950.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Clyne, native of Corna- dough, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of September, 1877, in the barony of Rathcline, parish of Cashel, ( his face blackened and body dis- guised with woman's clothes,) waylaid and assaulted Edward O'Connor by striking him with a stone on the head :— slovenly appearance and sheepish look- ing, stooped shoulders, mouth slightly crooked, turns in his toes when walking; gray eyes, regular nose, reckled complexion, full face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 19 years of age, fair hair; wore a round black hat or gray tweod cap, dark frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, and old boots. Monaghan. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of September, 1877, in the barony of Dartrey, parish of Ematris, stolen from the house of Joseph Bradford, some money ( silver and copper), and 6 rnetal tea- spoons, and used threats and intimidation towards Bradford's servant woman;— Blue eyes, short thin no6e, florid complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a low soft black hat, fine top- coat ( somewhat worn), light gray tweed trowsers, short in the legs, light laced- up boots. Is a " tramp." Clones, September 27,1877. ( 14501 c.— 25625.) DESCRIPTION of Michael Reilly, native of. Clara, county Cavan, and John Rudden, native of Drum- condra, county Cavan, who stand charged with having, on the 29th March, 1877, in the barony of Dartree, parish of Currin, been of a party ( two of whom are in custody) who assaulted Patrick Brides, of Knox, at Corrackan, and inflicted wounds on him from which he has since died :— 1. Mi^ iael Reilly— Holds down his head when walking, and has a slouching gait; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; - wore a jerry hat, dark coat, cord trowsers, dark vest; is a small farmer. 2. John Rudden— Face all shaved; gray eyeti, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stoilfc make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a low hat, dark coat, cord trowsers; is a small farmer. The special attention of the Constabulary- is directed to the following: DESORIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone :— Down- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders; it is also stated that Hunt's left wrist is tattooed; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest. Was in America, and lately returned from England, where he worked as a labourer. Has a pair of English- made navvy boots with iron plates under toos, also a pair of light Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of William O'Brien, alias Black, alias Sheridan, native of Castlebar, who stands charged with having, on the 7tli of October, 1877, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, entered the dwelling- house of John Barbour and stolen 2 ferrets :— Smart active appearance; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, black hair; wore a large soft hat, black coat, gray tweed trowsers, black vest; wears high- low boots. Belongs to the South Mayo Militia. One ferret is a white buck, the other a dark- coloured doe. O'Brien was last seen near Castlebar. Tubbercurry, Oct. 27,1877. ( 14842 c 26137.) DESCRIPTION of John Bohanan, native of Cashel, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of October, 1877, in the barony of Coolavin, parish of Killaraght, ( stabbed Patrick M'Donagh, it is thought with a large penknife :— Down- looking, heavy eyebrows ; dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hat, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Madden, native of Bally- duff, King's county, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd October, 1877, in the barony of Elio- garty, parish of Templemore, sold 3 head of cattle, supposed to have been stolen, and on 24th produced a document to C. C. Fitzgerald, esq., J. P., as to character, which now proves to be a forgery :— Smart active appearance; gray eyes, sharp nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old jerry hat, gray tweed frock coat, tweed trowsers and vest; has the appearance of a farm servant.
