DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. • rioN of the under- mentioned, who calls him- se' A- tor Taylor, and who is wanted, on Warrant charging him with having obtained several sums of monej ; . falsely representing that he was collecting money for an hospital at Damascus :— He is between 30 and 85 years old, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair, heavy black eyebrows, black eyes, black mous- tache, and olive complexion ; dresses generally in dark cloth frock, check trowsers, and round black hat with a feather in band, and occasionally wears a brown overcoat and tall silk hat. He says his father was a Jewish rabbi. Information to the Superintendent, Detective De partment, Dublin, who holds Warrant for arrest. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. September 21, 1877. ( 1443 E.) DESCRIPTION of a man and woman, names unknown, who are wanted on suspicion of having stolen a cow, whicli they had in. their possession, and offered for sale to A butcher at Bull- alley, between 4 and 5 A. M., on tho 10th instant:— Tho man is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, sandy hair and whiskers, chin shaved, full face, and fresh complexion ; dressed in an old brown frock coat, light tweed trowsers, and soft . jerry hat. The woman is 30 to 35 years of age, low size, full features, and pale complexion ; wore an old dark straw bonnet and old light colour plaid shawl. Both ran away, leaving the cow behind, when they saw some hesitation about buying her. The cow lias been claimed by Mr. Richard Graghan. of Kilmore, Coolock, and was stolen from his lands at tln} t place. JOHN MALLON, Superintendent. Superintendent's Office, Aug. 20, 1877. DESCRIPTION of James Reynolds, wanted for stealing £ 40 from his master on 14th instant, and absconding:— He is between 17 and 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair inclined to curl, light blue eyes, marks of boils on side of neck; wore a black cloth jacket, low- crowned hat; speaks with a strong North of Ireland accent; was a page ; is a native of Whitehall, Ballymena, county Antrim, where is parents are supposed to reside. Information to the Superintendent, Detective Department, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. Superinntedent's Office, May 15, 1877. DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Boyle ( 2490), who has broken the conditions of his licence in not re- porting himself to the Constabulary on change of residence:— Convicted at Hillsborough, county Down, at Hilary Sessions, on 7th January, 1870, for larceny after previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude; 35 years of age on con- viction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, is married and has one child, by calling a dealer, prison trade a weaver; born in Killyman, county Tyrone ; he resided before conviction in Belfast; his friends reside in Belfast; black hair, gray eyes, black eyebrows, prominent nose, large mouth, dark com- plexion, oval visage, slender make, 5 feet 5f inches high; a long cut in the hair over forehead. Tho above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, on the 6th September, 1877, on an order of licence to be at large, and took his discharge for Liverpool, which place he left without reporting his destination to tho Constabulary, and be is suspected of having gone to his wire who lives in or near Belfast. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. Government Prisons Office. Dublin Castle, September 26, 1877. DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offender, who, on the 10th August, 1877, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School, at Belfast. Robert Williamson, 16 years of age, light brown hair, blue eyes, sharp nose, full mouth, fresh com- plexion, sharp visage, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches high; pockpitted; mole below left breast; is a gardener; formerly belonged to Strandtown, Belfast; parents reside at same place. Dress worn by juvenile when he absconded:— Gray tweed jacket, moleskin trowsers and vest, white shirt, red checked necktie, woollen socks, and nailed boots. Believed to be working on a farm in county Down. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 11311 M.— 18410.) DESCRIPTION of John O'Neill, alias Fanny, native of co. Antrim, who stands charged with having, on 12th June, 1877, in the barony of Lower Glenarm, parish of Ardclinis, been one of two men who so seriously assaulted James Crawford that he died on the 17th inst. :— Brown eyes, thin nose, dark complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 36 years of age; wore a soft hat, dark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest, strong Wellington boots; served in the Naval Reserve ; has the appearance of a man who has been at sea, but is a farmer. DESCRIPTION of Edward Hughes, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 1 st August, 1877, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankill, failed to report himself to the Constabulary at Hercules- street, on change of residence, he being under Police supervision :— Cut- mark < m point of chin ; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 33 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low black hat, light tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a cutter. DESCRIPTION of Bernard Gormley ( mother's sur- name Hanley), native of Tarmon, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1877, in the barony of Castlerahan, parish of Lurgan, seriously assaulted Owen Lynch, by striking him several blows on the head with a stick :— Red freckled face, down- looking; gray eyes, regular nose, red complexion, full face, stout square make, 5 feet 10 inches h; gh, about 30 years of age, sandy hair and moustache; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of Cooladerry, county Cork, E. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle:— Rather short neck, slightly round shoulders; brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. Mitchelstown, March 24, 1875. ( 5182 c.— 9507.) DESCRIPTION of 2 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 30th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. Unknown— Fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, large sandy whiskers; wore a soft hat, faded cloth coat. Mitchelstown, April 5, 1876. ( 5182 c.— 10188.) DESCRIPTION of a woman, name and native place unknown, will probably call herself Mary Goodman, who stands charged with having, on the 25th June, 1877, in the barony of East Division of West Car- bery, parish of Creagh, obtained money under falso pretences:— Very heavy eyelids, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 22 years of age, black hair curling over shoulders; wore a black hat, black dress trimmed with green, black jacket trimmed with sealskin. The police should caution the clergymen of their respective districts about this woman, as she is be- lieved to be the same person who has obtained sums of money from various clergymen in different parts of the country. DESCRIPTION of James Murphy, native of Carrick- broad, near Forkhill, county Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the 21st September, 1877, in the barony of Upper Iveagh, parish of Seapatrick, seriously assaulted Thomas Reavey, so as to endanger his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, pale face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a cap, dark frock coat, moleskin trowsers ; is'a labourer. Dublin. l> K. soRirabjt of convict Daniel Martin ( 13772), who has broken the conditions of his Jieenoe in not reporting himself to the Constabulary on change of i residence :— Convicted . at Wicklow, county Wicklow, at Hilary Sessions, on 4th January, 1872, for house- breaking, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 4; l years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, by trade a tailor; born in Delgany, county Wicklow; resided before conviction at Newcastlo, county Wicklow; his friends reside about Dublin; gray, hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, fresh com- plexion, round visage, average make, 5 feet 6 inches high ; lost several teeth out of each side of upper jaw; scrofula marks on right side of neck; " A. M The above- named convict was released from Spike; Island Prison, on an order of licence, on the 3rd of" July, 1877. The Constabulary at Bray reports that he left his residence there on the Otli instant without notifying same to the Police, and has not since boon he aldof. DESCRIPTION of John Little, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the Otli Septem- ber, 1877, at Killcnardon, in the barony of Upper- cross, parish of Tallaght, stolen a trowsers and hat, value foi' 15s., which have since been recovered: — Bow- legged, walks stiff, flat feet, down- looking, no whiskers; hooked nose, fail- complexion, long face, stout make, 5 foet 5 or 0 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, brown coat, old dirty trowsers, tweed vest.' DESCRIPTION of James Eeilly ( mother's surname Bjeilly), native of Firhouse, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1877, at Knocklyon, in tlie barony of Uppercross, parish of Tallaght, criminally assaulted a girl II years of age:— Brown tins, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, high cheek bones, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 or 2D veal's of age, fair hair; wore a soft brown hat, dark coat arid vest, laced Blucher boots ; sullen in nlaniiers ; is a blacksmith. D INSCRIPTION of Joseph Read ( mother's surname Brannagan), native of Tillytown, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of July, 1877, at Shan- ganagh, in tho barony of Rathdjwn, parish of llath- michael, stolen a silver Gene va watch, value £ 2, and who having been bailed to appears t Petty Sessions to answer the charge^ failed to do sd:— A small scar on right side of mouth ; brown eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black coat, dark tweed trowseis and vest; is a groom. A Warrant tor his arrest is in the hands of the Constabulary at Tillytown. Dundrum, August 6, 1877. ( 13924 c.— 24691.) The man, name unknown ( burglary) not ar- rested; Huc- and- Cry,. 19th June, 1877. Fermanagh. Description of 2 sheep, the property of William Ajchdale, esq., j, p„ M. I\, which wcro stolen off the lands of Tullyloan, parish of Trory, barony of Burg, on the 13th or 13th day of September, 1877. 1. A wether, sjiepp, 3 years old, all white, mountaiii breed, in fair condition ; value for XI 10s. 2. A wether sheep, 3 years old, all white, mountain breed, in fair condition ; value for £ 1 10s. Mr. Archdale offers a reward of £ 5 for sueh infor- mation as shall lead to the conviction of tho person or persons who stole tho sheep. Kesh, September 28, 1877. ( 14431 c— 25509.) Bridget M'Hugh ( larceny) not arrested; Huc- and- Cry, 27th July, 1877. Galway. DUBLIN CASTLE, 23rd August, 1877. WHEREAS it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant, that, about the hour of a quaiter past ninb o'clock, on the evening of the 8th instant,- Head Constable John O'Connors, of tho Royal Irish Constabulary, was iired at and grievously wounded by some persons at present unknown, whilst returning from Dalgan to Dunmore, in the county of Galway : His Grace, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this outrage, is pleased hereby to offer a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same, and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as will lead to the same result. By His Grace's command, T. H. BURKE. The above rewards will be paid, on conviction, by A F. DESCRIPTION of 2 yearling heifers, tjio property of Patrick Kellihcr, of Ardteegalvin, which were stolen from the fair of lvillarney, parish of Killarnoy, and barony of Magunihy, oil the I Oth day of September, instant:— 1. A very small white coloured yearling heifer, with yellow spots on neck, and small horns slightly cooked. 2. A red and white- coloured yearling heifer, a little larger than No. I, with whit © star on forehead, and horns slightly spreading. Both mountain " Kerries," and value for about £ i each. Purcell, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on tlie 18th September, 1877, at Newbridge, in the barony of Connell, parish of Morristovynbiller, obtained the sum of £ 3 by false pretences from the Troop Sergeant- Major, 5th Dragoon Guards :— Brown hair; wears a moustache and very small whiskers; hazel eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 9J inches high, about 32 years of age ; wore a low hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest ( the tweed is light, mixed with red) ; he has a military appearance, having recently deserted from tho 16th Lancers, in which he was Sergeant- Major; is known in some of the Dublin Military Barracks. DESCRIPTION of George Kerr, native of Edinburgh, who stands charged with having, on the Oth August, 1877, in the barony of Kilkenny, parish of St. John, deserted, stealing from the quarters of Lieut. Robert Brady, R. A., a £ 5 and 4 £ 1 notes from a drawer, also a suit of dark tweed clothes:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7^ inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a gunner in the Royal Artillery and officer's servant, also French polisher. DESCRIPTION of the under- named young offcnd<^^ who, on thel7th September, 1877, absconded from thc^ St. Conleth's Reformatory School at Philipstown :— Patrick Sbeehan, No. 538, 15' years of age, 5 feet ^ inch high, strong ' make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ( right eye, half brown, half blue), regular nose, regular mouth, round visage ; formerly belonged to Ballysimon, county Limerick. His father is dead ; his stepfather, Denis O'Callaghan, resides at same place. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of corduroy jacket and trowsers, Scotch cap, strong nailed boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, aud will reward the person who may capture him with £ 3. ( 11473 M.— 18647.) The man, name unknown ( robbery) not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 20th April, 1877. Leitrim. Francis M'Kernan ( harbouring a felon), not ar- rested; Hue- and- Cry, 8th June, 1877. Limerick. DESCRIPTION of Robert Walsh, native of Killinane, who stands charged with having, on the 1st Sep- tember, 1877, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Galbally, committed rape on Sarah Moroney, of Keelngues :— Bow- legged, akd turns in his toes when walking; blue or gray eyes, thick drooped rtose, fresh complexion, round full faee, Very stout niake, 5 ftiet 10 inches high, about 27 years Of age!, light brown hair; wore a furry cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Kilfinane, September 5, 1877. ( 14247 c.— 25294.) DESCRIPTION of convict Thomas Riordan ( 24 73 J, who has broken the. conditions of his licence)' in ilbt reporting himself to the Constabulary on'change of residence:—- Convicted in Limerick, at Hilary Sessions, on 25tli January, J873, for assault and sentenqed to 5 years' penal servitude; 20 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a labourer; born in Oola, county Limerick, where ho resided before conviction; his friends reside at same place; brown hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, fair complexion, round visage, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high; a slight cut on front of forehead; a large cut- mark on front of right hand. The above- named convict was released from Lusk Prison, 18th February, l ® ^, on an order of licence to be at large, and took his discharge for Oola, county Limerick, where he reported himself to tho Constabulary. He left Oola without reporting himself, but sent a letter to the Constabulary there on the 24th July, 1877, bearing Knocklong post- mark. Relatives believe he went near Emly, county Tipperary, but it is reported he may have left for America; present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under the 5tli qectioh of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 34 and 35 Vic., chap. 112. ' Government Prisons Office, Dublin Castle, July 30, 1877. DESCRIPTION of Jeremiah Coushen or Cousin, native of Illaunmeen, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1877, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Galbally, seriously assaulted Edward M'Grath, game- keeper to Lieut.- Colonel Massy :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, freckled face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, light moustache ; wore a hard round black hat, coarse dark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Grady ( mother's surname Mary Cleary), native of Ardkilmartin, who stands charged with having, on the 10th July, 1877, in tho barony of Liberties of Kilmallock, parish of Saint Peter and Paul, committed an indecent assault: — Very brown eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 26 years of age, dark- brown hair, has small black whiskers, and shaves his chin, wore a jerry hat, blue frieze coat, cord trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. P., was found dead on tho avenue of his residence, at Harristown, near Castlerea, having be. en murdered by some person or persons at present unknown : And whereas Their Excellencies the Lords Justices have, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of the said murder, offered a reward of FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from tho lltl> June last, give such informa- tion as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the said murder; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information • as shall lead to the sanqc result: His Grace is also pleased to offer a FREE PARDON to any person concerned in tho said crime, other than the parson who actually committed the murder, who shall give such ovidenoo as will lead to the conviction of the persons concerned with him in the crime. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, ( mother's surname Quigley,) native of Knockgranagh, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achoriry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone :— Down- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders ; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark inoustaclic ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest. Was in America, and lately returned from England, where lie worked as a labourer. Has a pair of English- made navvy boots with iron plates under toes, also a pair of light Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of John Carthy, returned convict, native of Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 12th September, 1877, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of Carrick, had in his possession when arrested for drunkenness the sum of £ 10 3s. 6d., which is believed to be a portion of a larger sum stolen recently at some fair or market in this or one ot the adjoining counties :— Auburn hair, hazel eyes, regular nose, freckled complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 26 years of age.
