THEFT OF DIAMONDS— VALUE XI, 500. WANTED here, on a Sheriffs Warrant, charged with haying, on Saturday, the 21st instant, stolen a diamond collet necklet of about 43 stones, centre stone weighing about 3 carats, the other s'ooes diminishing in size towards the ends, all set in silver, with gold backs, value abcut £ 900; a diamond baud bracelet of 17 jointed squares, with large diamond in centre of each rquare, and filled in with email diamonds, value £ 401; a lady's 8- stone diamond ring, large centre- stone waighing 8} carats, other 2 stones together weighing 2| 116 carats, all single, out at back, and square- shaped, value £ 200, the proper y of Messrs. James Muirhead and Sons, jewellers, 90, Buchaan- street, Glasgow— a man who used the name of Viscount Georges de Fontenay of 12, Grosvenor- crescent, Belgrave- square, London; from 85 to 40 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, salt w comp'exion, small dark whiskers and moustache, dark heavy eyebrows, black hair cut short, very white teeth, slender make, walks erect, spoke English imperfectly, and evidently a foreigner, supposed to be a Frenchman dressed ia a dark coat and vest, and gray trowsers; wore a blask scarf with single- stone diamond pin, and a small single- stone claw- set diamond ring on finger. Tbe accused called, on the above date, at the pre- mises ot Messrs. Muirhead and Sons, and after examining a quantity of diamonds, selected those above described, and requested that an assistant should be se- 1 to his hotel with fcim in order to show ibcm to a lady. Oi arriving at the hotel, he took the assistant into a aitiing- room, and, having got possession of tie jewellery to show it o a lady in an adjoining room, he decamped by a door leadiog to a side street, leaving the assistant waiting his return. Messrs. Muirhead and Sons offer £ 300 reward; £ 250 to be paic^ fir the rec vdry of the diamonds, or in prrportiun to the amount recovered, and £ 50 to be paid to any person giving such information as Bhalllead to the apprehension of ihe ascused. Police officers are requested to make immediate search and inquiry for accu- ed and the property described, particularly among jewellers, diamond merchants, pawnbrokers, hotels, Ac.; and if any trace of him or the property be obtained, to commu- nicate at once with the subscriber. Antrim, who stands charged with having on 12th June, 1877, in the barouy ot Lower Glenarm, parish of Ardclinis, been one of two men who so seriously assaulted James Crawford that he died on the 17th inst. :— Brown eyes, thin nose, dark completion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high., about 85 years of aye; wore a soft hat, r ark frock coat, dark trowsers and vest, strong Wellington boo's ; served in the Naval Reserve ; has the appearance of a man who has been at sea, but is a farmer. R., who stands charged with having, on the 92nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle :— Rather ihort neck, slightly round shoulders; Brown eyes, hooked nose, fresh slightly freckled complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown curly hair, sandy whiskers; wore a dark coat, cord trowsers, light vest. DESCRIPTION of 9 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 80th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 86 years of age, sandy whiskers nearly meeting under the chin; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. DMSORIPTION of John Grady ( mother's surname Mary Cleary), native of Ardkilmartin, who stands charged with having, on the 10th July, 1877, ia the barony of Liberties of Kilmallock, parish of Saint Peter and Paul committed an indecent assault:— Very brown eyes, long ttin nose, sallow complexion, long thin faee, medium make, 6 feet 8£ inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair, has small black whiskers, and shaves his chin; wore a jerry hat, blue frieze coat, oorl trowsers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of James Mulcahy. native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 12th July, 1877, in the barony of Coshma, parish of croom, stolen from thecoach ho ise of Croom Union, a top- oo » t and hat, the property of the gmrdians, and vilne for £ l 1 « . -.— Lumps and marks of scrofula on right side of neck ; down looking ; brown eyes, straight nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 2 1 yea s of age, brown hair; wore a corduroy trowsers and vest, is likely to wear the stolen hat. This man has spent most of his time iu Croom Union, and will probably seek admission to some other woikhouss. Description of articles stolen:— A large gray frieze top coat with red binding round tha collar, one inside pocket, and brass livery buttons ; a low round black hat with flat top. Adare, July 19, 1877. ( 13729 0.— 24360.) One of the men charged with having assaulted Edward M'Grath ( Hua- and- Cry, 24ta July, 1877,) has been arrested. His name is James Fleming. DESCRIPTIOH of John Connell, native of Kilhoyle, who stands charged with having, on the 24th day of May, 1877, in the barony of Keanaght, parish of Balteagh, assaulted Henry Kelly, junior, of Kilhoyle, by striking him on the head with a s one and kicking him on the body, from the effects of which he died on the 10th inst.:— Old cut- marks on face; blue eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round fice, stout make, 8 feet 7 inches hifih, about 37 years of age, wd hair wore a soft round hat, it is supposed dark tweed coat, dark trowsers aud vest. The special attention of the Constabulary is directed to the following: DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt, mother's surname Quigley,) nativeof Knockgranagh, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone:— Down- looking appearance, two upper front teeth large and prominent, high cheek bones, large heavy lips, sunken jaws, very broad shoulders; glaring black eyes, slightly cocked nose, sallow compexion, oval face, stout make, 6 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, black hair, small dark moustache; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest. Was in America, and lately returned from England, where he worked as a labourer. Has a pair pf English- made navvy boots, with iron plates under toes, also a pair of light Wellington boots. DESCRIPTION of James M'Cormack, native of Ronan; Morty GleesOn, native of Ballyh'skea; and James Egan, native of Knockmore, who stand charged with having, on the 29th of May, 1877, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Nensgh ( town of Nenagh). seriously assaulted John Dwyer, of Carrigatoher, inflicting a bad fracture of the skull:— 1. James M'Cormack— Brown eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, aboot 63 years of age, brown bair; wore a round hat, frieze coat, corduroy breeches, twead vest t is a farmer. 2. HABITUAL CRIMINALS ( JNDEJ£ FOLIOS SUPERVISION Who hava not reported themselves, as required by " The Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871," and who are liable, on conviction, to IS months' imprisonment. I. Sub- Inspectors are to report without delay to " The Registrat tf Habitual Criminals, Dublin Castle," ( he names ana descriptions of all persons under supervision reporting themselves in their respective Districts, IL Also to report without delay to the Inspector- General, and to " The Registrar of Habitual Criminals, Dublin Castle," the CONVICTION of any Habitual Criminal whose name may appear in the Hue- and- Cry as a defaulter, UI. Also to report to the " Director of Government Prisons, Dublin Castle," in all cases in which it may come to the knowledge of the Constabulary that convicts are in any way infringing the conditions of their licences.
