William Johnstone, charged with assault with intent, native of Clouden village, near Dumfries, miller. 25 yews of age 6 feet ! 0 inches ii h ight, ordi ary make, sc art appearance, long face, pa'e complexion, dark hair, rark eyebrows, steal dark whiskers, shaved on chiD, hazel eyes; dressed in black cloth shooting coat, black cloth vest, light striped or checked twee' trowsers and blact hard fel' hat. He absconded from dumfries on th^ 6th inst. He has worket as a miller in Glasgow and Mid- Calder. 2. Elizabeth Bryant or Fitzgerald, charged with assault, a widow, native of Cork, domestic servant, 33 jears of age, 5 feat in height c rdinary make, smart appearance, pale complexion black bair, dark eye brows, dark eyes, slightly pockpitted; dressed in a black russell cord dress, blue black tight fitting jacket, light blue shawl, black straw hat covered with black velvet trimmed wi h black lace aud whi- x feather. She absconded from D imfries on 22nd March last, and went by rail to Glasgow. 8. William Taylor alias Morrison, charged wiih asssult, native of Prestwick, Ayrshire, gardener, 30 years of age, about 6 feet in height, sallow com plexion, nark whiskers * nd moustache shaved on chin, haH letters W W. tattooed on ore ot his hands; dressed in gray tweed jacket ( outside pockets, without flaps), blue cheeked trowsers, double peaked daik tweed cap, and strong lacing boot). His mother lives about Prestwick, and he states that she has large nursery- grounds in the neighbourhood of Ayr, bvt she is in poor circumstances, and receiving parochial relief. He absconded from Dumfries on 24th March last, ard will bn found employed in some garden or nursery- grounds. He has worked in nurseries and gardens in various places in England and Scotland. 4. John Larney, charged with assault, native of Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire, of Irish parentage, mason, 29 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 6 inches in height, ordinary make and appearance, long sharp face. dark complexion, dark hair, no whiskers, dark moustache j dressed in a blue shooting coat, dark tweed vest and trowsers, double- peaked dark cloth cap, and strong lacing boots. He left Dumfries on th » 11th May last, accompanied by his wife, wbo is about years of age, middle height, and dark complexion. He also took with him a small brown- and- white lurcher bitch. If found apprehend, detain, and communicate with the Chief- constable of Dumfriesshire, Dumfries, to whom any information respecting tho above- descirbed, persons will be sent. OD the 2nd inst, James Young, esq j P , was found dead o" the avenue of his residence, at Harristown, near Castlerea having been murdered by some person or persons at present unknown I Their Excellencies, for the better apprehending and bringing to justice the perpetrators of this murder, are pleased hereby to offer a reward of FIVE HUN .' BED POUNDS to any person or persons who shall, within six months from the date hereof, give such information as shall lead to the arrest of the person or persons who committed the same ; and a reward of ONE HUNDRED POUNDS for such private information as shall load to the same result By Their Excellencies' command, T.
