About 11 a m. on 30th ultimo, a cottage situate at Whitcliff, Bromfield, Salop, was broken and entered, and lis. in Silver, 3d. in Copper, a Jacket and Vest, ( dark ground, with yellow spots), and various other articles of Wearing Apparel, stolen therefrom. By a tramp, from 25 to 30 years of age, very stout, and face much freckled ; dressed in dark coat or jacket, black vest, hard felt hat, aud ( supposed) dirty cord trousers. Information to be given to Mr, Superintendent Caswell, County Constabulary Office, Church Stretton, or to Sergeant Bromwell, Bromfield, Salop. — Row- street, May 4. During the night of 27th ultimo, some person or persons broke into a private office at Malkin's Bank, Betchton, near Sandbach, and did considerable damage by breaking open drawers and cupboards therein ; the property of Messrs. Between 11 a m. and 1 p m. on 30th ultimo, the dwelling- house of William Morgan, in the parish of Brotnfield, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a dark cloth mixture Jacket and Vest, light mixture cloth Trousers; a. brown, blue and red silk Handkerchief, a h « , rd black felt Hat, all nearly new, and lis. 3d. in Silver. By a tramp, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, browa freckled face auri very stout figure ; dressed in an old rough black jacket and vest, dirty corduroy trousers, strong boots, aud tbe stolen hat, or pro- bably wearing the whole of the stolen clothing. Between 11 p. m. on 27th and 7 a. m. 28th instant, the house of the Rev. Wm. Kirkby, of Chosley Vicarage, was broken and entered and stolen therein : three dark blue Greatcoats, one with large side pockets, two with dark blue velvet collars; a pair of ormolu Scales for letters; KJX Japanese biscuit china cups and saucers ; a thick cane walking Stick, with silver head, ' W. Kirby ' engraved thereon; a new alpaca Umbrella, ' W, K.' cut on the hantiJe ; a pair of old- fashioned gold Spectacles ; a silver Card Case, Japanese pattern ; a silver Muffinier, pattern of a blue bell; two email opal- coloured glass Bottles; two email Japmese Vases ; two opal Ornaments ; twelve ivory- bandied Eniv « s; four very small fancy Mugs ; an ivory silver- mounted Pen ; a silver Cigarette Holder ; a mother- o'- pearl Whist Marker, in box- wood ; a china Bottle; a Japanese Saucer; and about 13s. in Silver. Further information respecting the'burgl. iry at Rowley Regis, advertised in the Police Gazette of 18th instant : the " Watch, Chain, aud Seal have been found pledged at Stour- bridge, by a man, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 i;.= s, high, medium build, dark hair, Whiskers, and Complexion; dressed in dark clothes. £ 1 Is. re ward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. During the night of 17th instant, the Llanfyliin Railway Station was broken and entered and stolen therein : ( Six- pences and 3- i. in Copper Monies. Supposed by a isiau who was seen coming by the last train the rjiyht before t he rob- bery. He produced a railway ticket from Shrewsbury to Llanfyllin, vifi, Buttington ; about 35 years of 5 ft. G or 7 inches high, slender make, appeared to have one eye nearly closed or blind, dark complexion, black hair and moustache, whiskers aud beard shaved off; dressed in blue cloth jacket, corduroy trousers, and black felt hat. McDonald, at Framwellgate, on 26ch instant: JONAS SHARP, 57 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, crooked nose, two blue scars on face, two • warts on back, scar under right arm, on left seat, and right leg, lost several teeth, grey eyes, brown hair ; dressed in dark grey tweed suit, hard felt hat, aud muffler. He is a shoe- maker. but ofteu works as a quarry man. WILLIAM KNOX, alias CURLEY KNOX 51 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow complexion, blue eyes, black hair, inclined to curl, stout figure; dressed in old black cloth j coat and vest, dark trousers. He is a quarry man, or labourer at gas works. ROBERT TODD, alias BEEDLING, 42 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair, rather slender figure ; dressed in old daik coat and vest, cord or tweed trousers, and cap. He is a labourer. Knox aud Sharp have been previously convicted. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, . Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Derby, on 25th inataut: a Purse, cortaining £ 35 iu Gold ; a £ 20 Bank of England Note; a £ 10 ditto; three £ 5 ditto; a gentle- man's gold sapphire Ring ; and seven Gheques, of various amouuts, all payable to John Thompson. By a woman, about 20yeaisof age, rather tall; dressed in dark clothes ; she stated that she was a dressmaker, and came from New Cross, London. Information to be given to Chief Constable Delacombe, Derby.— Raw street, April 30. Stolen at Bolton, on 23rd instant: a silver verge Watch, maker Holison. Liverpool, No. 16078. Also stolen from tbe peisou at Bolton, about 10 30 p. m. on 23td instaut: a Geneva Watch, inner case brass, and the outer case silver, plain white dial, gold bauus and seconds finger, has the word ' Compound' engraved ou the back of the inside case, had attached a gold Albert Chain, curb pattern, with small plate at one end marked ' 9 C.'; a pocket Knife ; two safe Keys; and two other Keys on a ring. Description of JAMES WOOD, of Hellingly, Sussex, larged with stealing a Horse ( since recevered) : 26 years of about 5 feet 8 inches high, pale complexion, light eyes, lin face, rather prominent Roman nose, light brown hair ad small whiskers, slight figure, he is a grocer, but has ' cently been working with his father, who is a cattle and ig dealer; dressed in light brown coat, brown hard felt hat, lort brown leather leggings, and elastic- side boots. He > ok a ticket on 2nd instant, from Etchingbam to London ridge, and stated that he was going to Australia, but it is ipposed that he will remain some where in the home muties. Absconded, charged with stealing on the night of 9th, instant, trom a stable, a Horse and Harness ( recovered) : a man who gave the lame of SAMUEL ROYLE, of Giants Seat Rock, Ringley, about 56 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, moderately stout, full round face, sai ow com- i plexiou, shaves all off face, hair turning grey, nose flattened in centre, has blue cut marks on various parts of the face-, blind boil under left eye, slightly bow- legged, limps a little- when walking, looks peculiarly with one eye, aud speaks with the Wigan accent; he was dressed in an old tweed shooting coat, which is far worn at the elbows, tweed vest, striped printed slate coloured moleskin trousers, with patch on each each knee and piece of bed- ticking stitched on oue thigh, cloth cap, and lace- up boot3. Description of WILLIAM HARRISON, of Mold, Flintshire, a commercial traveller, charged on a warrant with embezzling the sums of .-£ 1.3 3s. 6d., .£ 14, and £ 7, the pro- perty of the Colomendy Brick, Tile, and Clay Company be is 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, fair complexion, brown " hair, a rative of Scotland ; supposed to be dressed in light tweed suit, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Deputy chief Constable Adams, Mold, North Wales. — Bow- street, April 30. Stolen from the Commercial- room of tbe Unicorn Hotel, Redditch, on 27th instant: a. grey Ulster Overcoat ( reco- vered). By a man 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches higb, dark complexion, slender build, slight dark whiskers and moustache, cut short; dressed in black cloth overcoat, velvet collar, dark or black cutaway jacket, pockets behind, dark vest and trousers, and high silk nat. He stated that he was travelling for Messrs, Mead, wholesale stationers, Newgate- street, London, E C., and produced a card of that firms' address. He was traced into Birmingham. Description of JOHN WARRICK, charged on_ a warrant with stealing a silver lever Watch and Guard Chain, the property of Thomas Routh, of Comsay Colliery, on 7th instant, ' John Walton' engraved ou inside case: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, brown eyes, right little finger crooked, has lost two front teeth, he is a shoemaker, and a native of Cumber- land ; dressed in dirty black cloth suit. He was convicted of larceny at Bishop Auckland, in May, 1876. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Oliver, County Constabu- lary, Consett, Durham.— Bow- street, April 30. Stolen from a bedroom at Abingdon : a pair of dark tweed Trousers, and other articles. By a man giving the name of J. ALLEN, 17, Commercial- road, Oxforo, which is false, who took lodgings stating that he was an insurance agent, and about to canvas tbe district, about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, dark complexion and hair, very small dark eyes, whiskers round the face, and hair of a few days growth on chin and upper lip ; dressed in black overcoat, dark striped trousers, black felt hat, wore red cuffs or mittens, and carried a black bag. He is supposed to have committed similar offences in Reading and several neighbouring towns. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brabner, Borough Police Office, Abingdon, Berks.— Bow- st., April 30. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Thornton- le- Moor, on 23rd instant : a silver Geneva Watch and Albert guard Chain, recovered. By an Irishman, 26 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches higb, dark hair, small dark moustache, dark complexion, thin lace, and rather slender figure; dressed in dark cloth coat, rather long dirty moleskin vest, light moleskin trousers, black woollen cap, with peak of same material, button ou top, and old blucher boots ; he is a brick- layer's labourer, and has worked at York New Station, Thirsk, Darlington, and Spenny Moor. Absconded from Tasley, near Bridgnorth, on 14th fast. : GEORGE WHITTAL, alias RICHARD LLOYD, alias GREATHEAD, alias WHITTAKER, alias EVANS, a labourer, about 21years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sallow complexion, flat face, round shoulders, short neck, slouching gait, carries bis bands generally in his pockets, the first joint of forefinger straight from an accident with a chaff cutter. He is a native of Know bury, and is charged with stealing £ 3 and a pair of Boots ; the property of John M. By MICHAEL COLEMAN, a joiner, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair whiskers, &;. ; dressed in dark tweed coat, trousers, and vest' black billy nat, and lace- up boots ; lately working in Manchester and Warrington, for a Mr. Manley, builder.
