INFORMATIONS ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Description of FREDERICK and ANN MIDLAM, husband and wife, absconded, charged ou a warrant with arson, on the estate of Sir Ileury Wilrnot, Bart. : ho is about 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 iuches high, slight sandy hair, .. sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed usually in grey jacket, cord trousers, Woollen cap, and lace- up boots ; is a labourer. And Ann Midlam, 37 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, sallow complexion, long heavy looking face ; a photo of the latter can lie had. Well known throughout Derby, Stafford, and Notts. Information to be given to Deputy Waief Constable Lawson, Litchurch, Derbyshire.— iiuw- st., April 3. two Hams, about 12 IVs. each. Information to be given to Inspector Supwell, Police Station, Linslade, Bucks.— Bow- street, April 4. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on 1st, instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Heals, of Highfield, Hempstead, was entered by some person, and stolen therein : a small round face Clock, in bronze case ; a grey tweed Coat, with side pockets ; and a pair of side- spring Boots, toe- capped, nearly new. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Isgate, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.— Bow- street, April 4. Stolen from a printing- office, at Bolton, daring the night of 30th ultimo, entrance having been effected by going through an u iper window which had been left loose : three Freemason's Jewels, one of them ( a Mark Jewel) is in the form of a key stone, made of pearl, and has the letters ' H. T. W. S. S. T. K S.' on one side in a circle ; the second one is of silver and in form of a square with a pendant attached, and known as Past Master's Jewel, and bears this inscription on one side of it—' Presented to Brother Thomas Morris, P. M.. by the Members of St John's Lodge, No. 221, Bolton, & c., & c.'; and the third is a Silver Jewel, gilt, and belongs to what is known among the brethren the Priestly Order ; about 57 Postage Stamps, and a few Post Cards ; one copy of Whittaker's Almanack for the year 1877 ; one Sovereign, one Shilling, and Threepence in Copper ; and < ne base Half- Crown. and one base Shilling. £ 1 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the recovery of the property and the conviction of t he offender or offenders. Union Workhouse at Berwick- upon- Tweed, was burglariously entered aud stolen therein : three pairs of woollen Drawers, recovered; two white cotton Shirts, man's size, with linen fronts and holes at neck and breast for studs ; and a plain cotton Shirt. By JAMES CARROLL, alias JAMIE DONEGAL, labourer, native of county Donegal, Ireland, but has resided about the South of Scotland, and North of England for many years : he is about 52 year* of age, but looks younger, & feet inches high, stoutly made, auburn hair, ginger whiskers, generally shaved on upper lip; dressed in dark clothes, old and ragged, one of the stolen shirts, and odd boots, one being a navvy boot, the other a common lacing boot ; he has been in the Union Workhouse Hospital, Berwick- on- Tweed. several times, with sores on his legs, and the attention of the Police is directed to Poorhouses, work- houses, or Hospitals, where he will try to get admission ; he if a returned convict, aud has been convicted of larceny in Northumberland, borough of Berwick, and county of Ber- wick. Information to be given to Head Const. able Garden, Berwick- on- Tweed, Northumberland, who holds a warrant aud will pay £ 1 reward and all expenses on his apprehension. A photograph may be had if necessary.— Bow- st,, march 29. Between 12 30 and 7 a. m. on 24th instant, the house ot the Rev. John Slatter, Streatley, Berks, was broken and entered, aud stolen therein : two outer paletot Coats, Oxford mixture, pockets on hips, one marked inside of collar with a parchment label ; a thick waterproof Melton Coat, three Umbrellas, one lady's, ivory handle ; a Purse, containing 17s.; also 30a. in Money ; Is. Od worth of Stamps, a packet of Post Cards, 8 or 10 old china Cups, Saucers, and Basins, Tops of Mustard and Pepper Pots, Mustard Spoons, two silver Salt Cellars and Spoons; two bunches of goid Seals, some with crest— eagle out of coionet, same with arms and same crest, and one or two plain, one with pea shell open, and motto ' all is discovered', and oue of them a large white camelian, quite plain ; a Beam Compass, of German silver, with silver bar, with divisions and head screw; a lady's mother- of- pearl Card- case; Caddy Spoon ; a Box of Mathematical Drawing Instruments, about 7 inches square ; a MiCroscope and a Telescope ; and silver Toast Rack, with one rail broken at foot. A reward of £ b will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Absconded on 13th January last, from Nimes, France, • charged with forgery : HENRI PIERRE CHAS. DUNAL. a public notary, 59 years of ago, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair, turning grey, round face, lost left ' eye, right eye weak, scar on top of left eyebrow, wears large blue spectacles, suffers from gout; well, dressed. During the night of 23rd icst, the booking office and store room at Purfleet Railway Station were broken into, aud eight boys' blue serge Slops, lined inside cuffs with a narrow stripe of yellow striped cloth or braid, stolen therefrom. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- street, March 28. hOrSE anD CATTLE STEALING Absconded, charged with stealing a Cow : CHARLES STEADALL, 25 years oS age, B feet 3 inches high, light complexion, brown hair, thin foatures, small whiskers and moustache, and bow- legged ; dressed in old pilot overcoat, hard felt hat,, and by trade a jobber or cattle drover. Ia well known in Derby, Liverpool, and Nottingham. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent BeXOn, Police Station, Mansfield, Notts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- sireet, April 6. Stolen on 29th ultimo, the property of Mr. Isaac EVANS : a reddish chesnut. horse Pony, aged, 14 hands high, white star down face, off hind foot white, near fore leg has been fired, walks with a halt on same, one tooth broken off in upper jaw, long mane aud tail, shod all tound. aud ia good condition ; also, a. complete set of boat, horse Harness, two brass plates on blinkers, three brass plates on harness ; & new boat Line ; a boat Strap and Windlass ; two corn Bags ; and a common horse Cloth. LArCeny And Absconded from Oldbury, near Birmingham, on 24th ultimo, charged with stealing from his lodgings ( where he had stayed one night) a pair of calico Sheets, four Pillow Slips, a black cloth dress coat, and other Articles. A man, about 37 years ot age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender build, pockmarked, full eyes, brown hair and moustache j dressed in blue pilot jacket, moleskin trousers and vest., red and white muffler, the red part representing figures of horses, light lace- up boots, the right one, having a patch on the inner side; he has the appearance of a filter, and asks for employ- ment a labourer. Information to be given to Superinten- dent, Kemp, Halesowen, near Birmingham. — Bow- street, April tj. Absconded on 21st ult, charged on a warrant with Between 10 am. and 6 pm. on 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. B. Smith, at Houghton Regis, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therein : a silver hunting Watch, maker Hockliffe, Luton, a steel Chain attached ; a German silver cased Watch ; two large Wedding Rings ; two gold dress rings, set with three garnets in each; a Memorial gold Ring. Stolen during the night of 31st ultimo, by burglariously breaking and entering the Rectory, Shoreham, Kent, the property of the Rev. J. H. L. Cameron : 1 net of Communion Plate, consisting of Wine Jug and two Cups, ancient pattern, Latin inscription, and arms with supporters engraved thereon. 1 Set small Ditto, • R. April 6 stealing £ 300 on 28th February last: JOHN DAWSON SHEPHERD, a clerk, late of 12, Malpas- road, Lewisham High- road, Kent, 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, hair and - whiskers lightish brown, be< rd and moustache very slight, long pointed nose, prominent features, holds his head forward when walking. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. C.— llow- strnet, April 6. Stolen from a dwelling- house, at Bolton, on the after- noon of 2nd instant: £ 9 6s. in Gold and Silver ; one black pilot cloth fhooting Ouat, Bingle breasted, and black velvet collar, nearly new ; one black cloth double breasted Vest, also nearly new ; one pair of men's low- down Shoes, patched on each side, and far worn. By a horse- keeper or groom who lodged at the house and said he had been a cab driver in Scarborough, to which place he belonged. He is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, light complexion, long thin features, slender make, light hair cut short, and has a wart on bis right eyelid ; dressed iu the stolen coat, vest, and shoes, moleskin trousers, and dark cloth cap, which ties across the trout. Information to be given to Chief Consta- ble Holgate, Bolton, Lancashire.— haw- street, April 6. Absconded from Middlesbrough, charged with larceny : a labourer or holder- up in shipyards, belongs to Stockton- on Tees, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale com- plexion, dark hair, slender figure, long neck, and has a scar ou back of one leg ; dressed iu moleskin trousers, dark corded coat and vest, elastic side boots, and billycock hat. He was committed for trial from Stockton about 2 years ago, and sentenced to 12 months bard labour, on a charge of forgery. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.— Bonn- street, April 6. Absconded on 18th ultimo, charged with stealing, as a bailee, a gold Watch : JAMES SATCHWELL, a clock and watch maker, late of Tattenhall, Cheshire, 20 years of age, 6 feet C inches high, sallow complexion, black hair, and dark eyes; dressed in black cloth ahooting coat, black cloth trousers, black cloth vest, and black round felt hat. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Wilson, Consta- bulary Station, Tattenhall, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- strut, April 4. Stolen from a lodging- house at Ledbury, on 31st ultimo: a pair of men's and a pair of women's nailed Boots, small size and much worn ; and an old brown Coat, the propeity of another lodger. By a tramp, about 22 years of age, 6 feet 3 inches high, dark hair, small whiskers and moustache, pockmarked ; dressed in old black coat, militia trousers, and union cap. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Blunsdon, Ledbury, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, April 3. Absconded, charged with stealing a Purse, containing about £ 5 in*., at 9 a. m. on 29th ultimo, from the house of Savage Jones, Mount- street, Flint: a man, about 30 years of age, 6 feet 5 or 7 inches higb, fresh complexion, dark hair aud moubt iohe, higb forehtad, hair short, on top of forehead ; stated he had been employed at Homer House, Great Homer- street, Liverpool, and was a good window dresser. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, Mold, Flintshire, or to Sergeant Ward, Flint, North Wales.— Bow- street, April 3. Description of a chimney sweep charged with stealing £ 3 6a. from his employer, Mr. Samuel Kent, at Burton- on- Trent, on 26th ultimo : he is about 17 years of age, 4 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, stout build, fissh complexion, light hair cut short, scar on forehead, and tattooed on both arms, anchor on one ; dressed in a light- coloured mixture coat, dark mix- ture trousers, dark vest, all old and shabby, dark hairy cap, and old elastic- side boots. Information to b « given to Mr. Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on Trent, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, April 3. Stolen on the evening of 29th ultimo, from a painter's shop at Wantage, Berks: a painter's sable Hair Pencil, handle about 7 inches long, nearly new. By a tramping painter, about 45 years of age, 5 le r, 2 or 3 inches high, full sandy- coloured beard and moustache; dressed in a dark tweed suit, low hard black hat, violet- coloured woollen scarf, and drab shirt ; has a small flag basket, which is stained and Tarnished. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, Berks.— Bow street, April 3. Description of WILLIAM GOODWIN BRAY, who absconded from Devoran, Feock, Cornwall, on 2Gt, h February last, charged on a warrant with embezzling the sum of .£ 167 12s., tho monies of the trustees of the Loyal Robartes Lodge of Odd Fellows : he is 47 years of ags, 5 feet 8 inches ' high, sallow complexion, dark hair, turning grey, and dark eyes, a shoemaker ; dressed in a grey mixed suit of clothes, ' hard round felt hat; has in his possession a silver Watch, - with gold albert Chain, the following inscription is on the watch, ' Presented to W. G. Bray, by the Officers and Bretheren of the Loyal Robartes Lodge.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Marshall, Cornwall Constabu- lary, Truro.— Bow- street, April 3. Description of EDWIN REVELL, a tramping barber, who is charged on a warrant with stealing a silver Watch and steel Guard, recovered, at Brampton, on 27th ultimo, the . property of Francis Woodward : he is an American, and speaks the Yankee dialect, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, browu hair, rather thin in front, thick brown moustache and beard, full round face, florid complexion, scar on forehead, and on back of one hand, figure of a ship tattooed on one arm ; dressed in a blue pilot great coat, no under coat, dark checked trousers and vest, red wooileu shirt with black flower, black scarf torn at back, aud a large yellow pin in front, shabby laced boots, and black billycock hat. He generally calls at hairdressers shops for relief, and is iu the habit of singing and begging at public and beerhouses. He has tramped all over England, and may be fouud longing at some low beerhouse or common lodging house. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Carline, County Police Office, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, April 3. Charged on a warrant with stealing one pair of Drawers, two Sheets, and one boy's Shirt ( recovered), from Wellington- street, Aldershot, on 16th instant.; the property of Ernest MUDday : ELIZABETH BAKER, domestic servant, 15 years ot age. dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes, dark com- plexion, round full face, and stout build; dressed in light brown bonnet, trimmed with dark brown terry velvet, grey waterproof cloak, brown linsey dress, trimmed with black braid, gold ear- drops, oval shape, with small ball at the bottom. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldershot, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, March 29. Stolen on 24th instant, between 8 a. m. and 4 pm., from the house of George Wilson, Sawdou Nabb, Egton : a pair of Blucher Boots, newly soled, heel and toe plates; and a pair of watertight Boots, nearly new, small nails in bottom and heel and toe piates, man's size. By a man, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, aud moustache, and slender make; dressed in a grey or drab long top coat, black billycock hat turned up at sides, dark trousers, and old light boots. He was traced to the ' Jolly Sailor' Inn, near Moorsholm, where he offered the stolen boots for sale. States he belongs to Ryhope, near Sunderland, but supposed to be a native of Newcastls- upon- Tyne. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 29. Description of a man charged with stealing six Sovereigns, from the dwelling- house of Mr. James Powell, of Hagley, on 26th ii stant : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, small sandy whiskers and mous- tache, and round full face , dressed in brown mixture coat and trousers, imitation sealskin vest, and black hard hat, walks upright, sometimes carries a black top coat, with large buttons, and a walking stick ; represents that he is a land measurer. Supposed to be the same man that is charged in Monmouthshire and Montgomeryshire with similar offences. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Shire Hall, Hereford,— Bow- street, March 29.
