Description of WILLIAM ALLSOP, charged with stealing a ,£ 50 Bank of England Note, h- om tbe person of John Nadin, at Leek, on 21st ultimo : he is a stonemason, about 46 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, turning grey, no whiskers, rather stout built; dressed in light clothes, and sammy hat; he is well ino'wvii at Birmingham, Ashby- de- la- Zouch, and Nottingham, and may probably be seeking work as a stonemason. The note is dated Manchester, 4th January, 1875, No. 52494. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Brno- street, March 21. Stolen in Ipswich on 17th instant, from the person of Walter Meadows : a silver Geneva hunting Watch, No. 3212, seconds hand off and the glass out. Also from the person of Walter Booty : a silver Geneva Watch, maker ' Kingdon, Ipswich, No. 13134'; gold plated Albert and Locket, with Photograph cf a man wearing a high hat in Locket attached. Stolen from the person in Penrith, Cumberland, on 13th instant: a black leather Purse, with an elastic band, containing Nine Sovereigns, and one Half Farthing with a hole in it. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, March 16. new, the other much worn, and has a piece of sealing wax upon the lining of each sleeve ; two dark blue Overcoats, one has a stain down the front, and velvet collar, the other astrakan collar ; a white woollen Scarf ; two Umbrellas, one of which has a bone handle ; a large woollen Shawl, black ground, with alternate stripes of black, and grey and black, fringed at edges ; a dozen plated Knives and Forks, marked ' H. A. B.' in monogram ; a lady's Companion, with fittings; a small Stanhope Microscope ; a magnifying Glass, about 2 inches over ; a pair of silver sugar Tongs, supposed marked ' M. D. M.'; a plated moist sugar Scoop ; two pairs of Spectacles, one with silver frames, the other steel ; a small Bag, containing about 2s. 6d. in bronze money; and a small pair of opera Glasses in case. Between 11 p. m. on 16tb, and 8 a. m. on 17th instant, the ' Barley Mow' inn, Little Sutton, near Birmingham, was burglariously broken and entered, and stolen therein : about j£ 5 in Gold and Silver, and 2 Wills, one by Thomas Pinder, Senior, and the other by Thomas Pinder, Junior. Supposed by a man, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sallow complexion, d « rk brown hair, and clean shaved ; dressed in dark clothes, and wore a dark overcoat. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Gallaway. Constabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- sireet, March 21. Between 12 p. m. and l- 30 a. m. on 17th instant, a house at Rugeley, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a brown cloth Jacket, with velvet collar, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast; a dark blue Jacket, lined with red flannel, two pockets inside, and two outside on hips, much worn ; a soft black billycock Hat; a red and white plaid Muffler; and a bundle Handkerchief, Union Jack pattern. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Oswell, Stafford, or to Sergeant Chaplain, rugeley, Stafford- shire.— Bow- street, March 19. Between 8 a. m. and 4 p m. on 12lh instant, a cottage at Shirlett was broken and entered and stolen therein : < s lb. of Biscuits, and J lb. of Tea; the property of Thomas 1' ranks. Supposed by a man 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higfe, black hair and complexion, short dark whiskers and black eyes; dressed in a dark cloth jacket, dirty moleskin trousers, hard felt hat, and lace- up boots, strongly nailed with plates on heels. Between 8 p. m. 8th and 2 a. m. on 9th instant, the Union Workhouse at Berwick- upon- Tweed, was burglariously! entered, and stolen therein : three pairs of woollen Draweis ( recovered) ; two white cotton Shirts, man's size, with linen | fronts, and holes at neck and breast for studs; and a plain cotton Shirt. He may be accompanied by a woman, about 27 years of age, small size, brown hair, small eyes, and is an \ out worker. He is a returned conviet, and ha* been con-! victed several times of larceny at Berwick- upon- Tweed and i elsewhere. Information to be given to Superintendent Fisher, Police Station, South Molton, Devonshire. - Bow- street, March 23. During the night of 20th instant, the house of Mr. Robt. Maynard, at Whittlesford, Cambs,, was burglariously- entered, and stolen therein : two grey Overcoats, one nearly ' Harris,' in ink ; 1 white Handkerchief, marked ' J. T.' in ink ;. 1 pair brown kid Gloves ; 2 hair dresser's Aprons ; and a shaving Cloth. A man 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark complexion, hair, eyes and moustache; dressed in black cloth suit, hard felt hat, and side- spring boots.— Metro- politan Police, E Division, March 23. Absconded on 12th instant, charged with stealing, as a bailee, two old silver verga Watches, one has a common pin for a rivet in the bow. Heenan and Sayers in a fighting attitude painted on the face, the other has been repaired in- side the case with solder. JOHN A. COOPER, a tramping printer, about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inckes high, hair turning grey, bushy whiskers round face and mous- tache, stout build, bow- legged, and throws out left foot when walking ; dressed in a suit of dark cloth clothes, much worn, hard biack bill> cock hat, and strong lace- up boots. Belongs to Bury St. Edmund's, and will call on stationers and printers. A warrant is issued. Handley, of Tipton Green, Tipton : a pilot monkey Jacket, with two pockets on hips, and one inside breast pocket. By a man, who had lodged at the house during the night, sup- posed to be an engine tender by trade, about 24- years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, dark eyes, stout build, black moustache ana imperial; dressed in old grey jicket and waistcoat, dirty moleskin trousers, and Jace- up boots, with brass eyelet- holes. Description of SAMUEL BUTLER, charged with stealing £ i 5s., the moneys of Charles Myles, at Wetley Rocks, near Leek, on 26tb ultimo : he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair, fresh complexion, ems. ll sandy whiskers, stoops a lifetle when walking, and turns his feet outwards; dressed in black overcoat, cord trousers, and bard felt hat; he is supposed to be a native of Whit- church, Salop, and is a labourer- Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- tireet, March, 21. Stolen during the night of 11th instant, from Alltyceiliog, Castlecaereinion, the property of Edward Theodore, farmer : a pair of rather light made lace- up Boots, heels nailed with squares, and three rows of small nails in centre of foreparts, no brass eyelets, and man's size ; a grey cloth Jacket, rather hard worn, sleeves lately pieced from the elbow, and sides bound with light braid, pockets on hips with flaps, and one inside breast; and a deep white arm Basket. By a tramp who had been employed on the farm : from 45 to 50 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, long features, hollow cheeks, light brown hair, and whiskers intermixed with grey; dressed in a corduroy trousers, patched on knees, old brown cloth coat, and a black hard hat. He said he was a native of Whitehaven, and that he had served in the Royal Artillery. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street. March 19. Stolen about 3 a. m. on 17th instant, from the house of John Jackson, at Heath- end, Pelsall : a black cloth pilot Overcoat, pocket inside left breast, and two pockets outside, one button sewn through breast pocket; also a blue pilot cloth Overcoat, nearly new, pockets same as in the other, both velvet collars. By a man who lodged at the house during the night, and stated that, he had obtained work at some ironworks, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, hair, whiskers, and small moustache, and is pockpitted ; dressed in grey cloth jacket, moleskin trousers and vest, soft billycock hat, black and white scarf, and olt lace up boots. Information to be given to Superintenden Hill. Brownhills, or to Sergeant Arnold, Police Station' Rushall, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, March 19. Absconded on 14th, from 18, Saville- row, St, James's, stealing £ 73 10s. in Gold & Silver ; EDWIN RICHARDS, butler, 43 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair and whiskers, shaved under chin, scars on each side of back of neck from spear thrusts ; dressed in black frock coat, black vest, shepherd plaid trousers, and high black hat. He is a native of Bourne, Lincoln, and has been a corporal in the 62nd Foot. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, March 19. Description of ROBERT ORMSBY, charged with stealing on the 27t, h ultimo, at Tunstall, a silver Geneva Watch, a blacfc cloth Coat, a woollen Shirt, and a Muffler, the property of Thomas Benmion, Sun- street, Tunstall: about 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, fair hair and moustache, which he generally dyes black, no beard or whiskers, very ssout build, and of respectable appearance ; dressed in rough black cloth topcoat, black cloth frock coat, drab cloth trousers, and hard round hat. He has been to sea as clerk to a captain, and will probably seek a similar situation. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Baker, Police Office, Tunstall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen between 12 noon on 8tb, and 12 midnight on 10th instant, from a bed room of the Borough Arms beer- house, Erskine- street, Leicester, the property of Henry Wood : £ 44 in Gold ; a Bag containing £ 5 in Silver ; a pocket Book, containing a Deposit Note, on Pares' Bank, Leicester, for £ 50, and several Memoranda; a silver Geneva Watch, out of repair, silver dial, gold figures; a silver Chain, curb pattern, had attached an American Dollar; a small gold Seal; and seven or eight Threepenny and Four- penny Pieces. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, florid complexion, clean shaved, thick moustache, dark brown hair, cut short; he attends horse races and foot races. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Borough Police Office, Leicester.— Bow- street, March 16, Stolen on 13th instant, from 143, Cleveland- street : a black cloth Coat and double- breasted Vest; a pair of light cloth Trousers ; a pair of lace- up Boots; a white linen Shirt; a red woollen Scarf ; a silver lever Watch, and silver Albert Chain with Locket attached ; and a Fiddle, rather large, and the hand- piece broken. By a man 25 years of age, 5 ft. 10 ins. high, fair complexion, hair cut short, and prominent teeth ; dressed in dark coat, open vest, hard felt hat, lace- up boots, and of military appearance.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 16. Absconded from Bristol, on 14th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing Cheese, the property of the Great Western Railway Company : RAYMOND CHAS. CLAY, about 35 years ot age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, cheeks shaved, tuft of light brown hair on chin, and stoops a little ; dressed in light striped trousers, striped flannel shirt, and dark cap. He was formerly an engine driver in the employ of the above company. £ 5 reward will be paid for any information which will lead to his apprehension. Description of EDWARD ALDAY, a commercial traveller, charged on warrant with embezzling several large sums of money, the property of his late employer, Mr. Thos. Graham, pork butcher, & c,, Wolverhampton : he is 35 years of age, about 6 feet high, slender build, slightly sandy hair, small sandy whiskers and moustache, chin shaved ; generally wore a black melton overcoat, dark blue trousers, felt hat; is in the habit of singing at concerts. Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Town Hall, Wolverhampton.— Bow- street, March 14. Absconded from Berwick- upon- Tweed, charged with stealing a lady's black cloth Jacket, and a lady's Waterproof, recovered, about 24th ultimo : a woman, about 40 years of age, small, stoutly made, dark crimped hair, fresh complexion, red face; dressed in dark clothes, bare headed, and spoke with Scotch accent. She said her husband was a weaver, and belonged to Alloa, in Scotland. She had the appearance of a tramp. Description of — DICKENSON, charged on warrant with obtaining board and lodging under false pretences fro n Thomas Larder, at Alford, on 19th instant: he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, freshgcomplexio a, dark hair, small whiskers on side of face, small dark mou s- tache, proportionate build, and large scar on left side of neck ; dressed in old black suit of clothes, hard round felt hat, old black baronet necktie, old elastic- side boots, plain fronts, a hole in one heel near the bottom. He said he was a com- mercial traveller, and repreiented a firm of coach builders in Beverley, and had had an accident with his horse and trap. He had previously stated he was a gentleman's servant from the neighbourhood of Lincoln, and attempted to take lodgings for his master, who he said was an invalid. Absconded, charged on a warrant with fraud at Horsham : MATTHEW HARMAN MILTON, alias MARTIN, horse coper, 33 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stoutly built, pale complexion, black hair, moustache and whiskers flight); dressed in dark Chesterfield overcoat ( black velvet collar), black velvet diagonal undercoat and vest, black scarf, high black hat with mourning band, and respectable appearance.
