INFORMATIONS. HUEDEB AND aEAXXCXOUSOT WOUNDING. About 3 p. m, on 1st instant., the dead bedy of a new " born female cbild w;, s found in the night soil deposit at Toug- street, near Bradford ; it was wrapped lip in a piece of blate- coloured cotton lining, and appeared to have been bom about two days. At the Coroner's inquest it was proved that the childs death had been caused by fracture of the skull, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was returned. Obtained on 24t, h ultimo, by means of two forged cheques, £ 5 103. By ARTHUR COX, 17 years of age, 5 ft 3 inches high, swarthy complexion, mole on cheek, dark Lair and eyes; dressed in dark clothes and hard felt hat; late of £ 6, Park- street, Kennington Cross. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan . Police, E Division, March 14. Absconded from Montgomery, on 24th January last, charged with forgery: EDWARD HUGHES, a tailor, and native of Llangollen, Denbighshire ; is well known in Liverpool, having been in business there as a tailor and out- fitter for some years; he is about 50 years of age, about ' 5 feet 0 inches high, dark brown thick hair, no whiskers, bas a fleshy substance on the left j * w, size of a small marble, dark hazel eyes, forehead projecting over eyes, and slightly stoop- ing in the shoulders; dressed in a new dark grey Irish freeza Ulster, velvet collar, a drab plaid trousers and vest, and a silk hat. He is fond of attending places of amusaments, and of gettkg up entertainments and attending Good Templars' meetings, and is a great speaker. He may be accompanied by a woman, about 27 years of age. small size, brown hair, small eyes, and is an out worker. He is a returned conviet, and has been con- victed several times of larceny at Berwick- upon- Tweed and elsewhere. Between 8 a. m. and 4 p m. on 12th instant, a cottage at Shirlett was broken and entered and stolen therein : i lb. of Biscuits, and J lb. of Tea ; the property of Thomas Franks. Supposed by a man 30 to 35 years of sge, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, black hair and complexion, shoit dark whiskers and black eyes; dressed iu a dark clfth jacket, dirty moleskin trousers, hard felt hat, and laco- up boots, strongly nailed with plates on heels. He had a brown or red terrier dog with him. Information to be given to Supeiintendent, Christie, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Thomas, Police Station, Much Wenlock, Salop.— Bow- street, March 16. Between 8 p. m. 8th and 2 am. on 9th instant, the Union Workhouse at Berwick- upon- Tweed, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : three pairs of woollen Drawers { recovered); two white cotton Shirts, man's size, with linen fronts, and holes at neck and breast for studs ; and a plain cotton Shirt. Further information respecting the bay draught Mare, stoleu from Tanlwyn, Denbighshire, as advertised in the Police Gazette of 9th instant: the man seen in charge of the stoleu horse is supposed to be a iiorsedealer ; ho is a Welshman, but speaks Euglisb, about 22 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, and has vtr/ little whiskers ; dressed iu dark or grey clothes, soft billycock hat, and white muffler. An old- fashioned cart Bridle, with two Chains about a foot long attached, with brass nails in the eye- winkers and nose strap, was also stolon. Stolen on the night of 2Gth ultimo, from a stable at Bradley, Wotton - under - Edge : a grey Gelding, since recovered, the property of Mr. Walton John Bick. Supposed j by a man about 21 years of age, & feet 4 inches high, brown hair, brown eyes, and sallow complexion : native of Wotton- under- Edge, and a labourer; when last seen was dreaded in a dark suit of clothes, and wearing a soft bowler hat.. Stolen during the night of 3rd instant, from Doddinghurst, Essex, the property of Richard Littlechild : a ] black Mare, 8 or 9 yeara old, 1G hands high, white stripe down face, covering one nostril, a few white ham; on off hind I foot, long mane and tail, heavy toretop, iu good condition,; bas not been clipped, large fore feet, clicks when travelling,' hitting middle ot fore feet with hind ones ; also a light spring | Cart, painted black outside, while inside, round tirea ; and a head Stall, with chain leader. Leicester, for £ 50, and several Memoranda; a silver Geneva Watch, out of repair, silver dial, gold figures; a silver Chain, curb pattern, had attached an American Dollar; a small gold Seal; and seven or eight Threepenny and Four- penny Pieces. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins, high, florid complexion, clean shaved, thick moustache, dark brown hair, cut short; he attends horse races and foot races. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Borough Police Office, Leicester.— Bow- street, March 16. Stolen ou 13th instant, from 143. Cleveland- street : a black cloth Coat and double- breasted Vest; a pair of light cloth Trousers ; a pair of lace- up Boots; a white linen Shirt ; a red woollen Scarf ; a silver lever Watch, and silver Albert Chain with Locket attached ; and a Fiddle, rather large, and the hand- piece bioken. By a man 25 years of ago, 5 ft. 10 ins. high, fair complexion, hair cut short, and prominent teeth ; dressed in dark coat, open vest, hard felt hat, lace- up boots, and of military appearance.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, March 16. WILLIAM SANDERS, advertised in the Police Gazette of 28th ultimo, charged with embezzlement, has been committed for trial at the next Salo :< v^ aarier Sessions for the county of Salop— Bow- street, March 16. Absconded from Bristol, on 14th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing Cheese, the property of the Great Western Railway Company : RAYMOND CHAS. CLAY, about 35 yeara of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, cheeks shaved, tuft of light brown hair on chin, and stoops a little ; dressed in light striped trousers, striped flannel shirt, and dirk cap. He was formerly an engine driver in the em) loy of the above company. £ o reward will be paid for any inf > rmation which will lead to his apprehension. Infor- mation to be given to. Description of EDWARD ALDAY, a commercial traveller, chargci?" on warrant with embezzling several large sums of money, the property of his late employer, Mr. Thos. Graham, pork butcher, & c., Wolverhampton : he is 35 years of age, about 6 feet high, slender build, slightly sandy hair, small sandy whiskers and moustache, chin shavtd ; generally wore a black melton overcoat, dark blue trousers, felt hat; is in the habit of singing at concerts. Informatiou to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Town Hall, Wolverhampton.— jBow- Ureet, March 14. Absconded from Berwick- upon- Tweed, charged with stealing a lady's black cloth Jacket, and a lady's Waterproof, recovered, about 24th ultimo : a woman, about 40 years of age, small, stoutly made, dark crimped hair, fresh complexion, red face; dressed in dark clothes, bare headed, and spoke with Scotch accent. She said her husband was a weaver, and belonged to Alloa, in Scotland. She had the appearance of a tramp. Absconded on 1st instant, embezzling £ 30 from 47, Royston- street, Bethnal Green : a man 35 years of age, 6 feet ,7 inches high, fair complexion, bair, beard and mous- tache ; dressed iu drab overcoat, brown tweed trousers, soft felt hat, a traveller, and likely to go to Nantwich, Cheshire. — Metropolitan Police, K Division, March 14. ~ Charged ou a warrf^ t with stealing one Table, and other Articles, .- it Hull, on 7 h December la3t: ELIZABETH THOMPSON, 21 yea: a of age, short, rather thin, brown fcair ; respectably dressed ; and may be accompanied by her husband, who wa3 until lately a Primitive Methodist Minis- ter. The woman was on bail, and has absconded. £ 5 reward and all expenses will be paid on apprehension, by Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Boie- strset, March 12. Description of ROBERT ORMSBY, charged with stealing on the 27th ultimo, at Tunstall, a silver Geneva Watch, a black cloth Coat, a woollen Shirt, and a Muffler, the property of Thomas Ben mi on, Sun- street, Tocstull : about 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, fair hair and moustache, which he generally dyes black, no beard or whiskers, very s. out build, and of respectable appearance ; dressed in rough black cloth topcoat, black cloth frock coat, drab cloth trousers, and hard round hat. He lias been to sea aa clerk to a captain, and will probably seek a similar situation. Stolen between 12 noon on 8tb, and 12 midnight on 10th instant, from a bed- room of the Borough Arms beer- house, Erskine- street, Leicester, the property of Henry Wood : £ 44 in Gold ; a Bag containing £ 5 in Silver ; a pocket Book, containing a Deposit Note, on Pares' Bank, Stolen from the stable of Mr. Bolters, Gold Hill, Eastnor, Hereford shire, on 5th instant: a black mackintosh Coat, atd a South. Western Hat. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair and whiskers on chin ; dressed in a dark coat, long black leather leggings, and black hard hat. March 23 Description of GEORGE BLAKE, a bargeman on the " Wilts and Berks Canal, charged with stealing £ 3, the Monies of James Hiskins. his master: about f5 years of age, 5 feet 9 J inches high, long features, brown hair and whiskers, muscular, but not stout, walks erect, and has been a soldier ; dressed in a blue guernsey, with a short navvy slop over it, moleskin trousers, i= oft black hat, and strong lace up boots. He is known as ' OLD BLAKE' by all the bargemen on the Kennet and Avon Canal, also on the River Thames. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Betc- sfc, March 12. Stolen from the scooner ' Bosphorus,' lying in the River Thames, off Greenhithe, between 2 and 6 a. m. on 10th inst.: a four oared Boat, about 16 feet long, 5 feet C inches wide, painted light blue outside at top part of boat, and white below, inside is painted blue and red at bottom, and 2 Oars ; also a pair of knee water Boots, and £ 2 10s. in Money. By 2 lads employed on the scooner, one about 17 years of age, 4 feet, 4 or 5 inches high, light complexion, thin face, belongs to Bermondsey ; dressed in blue serge jacket, dark cloth trousers with light stripes, chee-. ecutter cap, and old low shoes. The other, 19 years of age, 4. feet 4 inches high, dark complexion and hair, full face ; dressed in blue guernsey, pilot clot. h trousers, and wearing the stolen boots. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Alslaby, on 16th ult., the property of Joseph Simpson, quarry man : an orange, • white, and grey striped union Shirt., nearly new. By a man who lodged at the house, about 50 years of ay), about 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and bushy • whiskers, turning grey, and stout build ; dressed in a brown velvet coat, blue pilot vest, navvy ship, cord or white moleskia trousers, red woollen muffler, and round black stiff hat. He was seen at Lockwood Beck, near Guisborough, on 17th ultimo, looking for work. It is probable he may make towards Sunderland, to a new railway, or to Bishop Auck- land, Mhere he has relatives. Was convicted at Stockton, for larceny on the Castle Eden New Railway. Information to be given to Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Con- stabulary, Whitby.— Bow- streei, March 9. Absconded on 3rd instant, from 38, Clifton- road, Peck- ham, embezzling £ 10 : a man, 34 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, and tuft on chin ; dressed in frock overcoat, mixture trousers, felt hat, a tailor, late of 224, East- street, Walworth,— Metropolitan Police, P Division, March 9. Stolen from a house at Moss- side, between 2 30 and 3.15 p. m., on 5th instant: a gold English lever lady's Watch, plain back, gold face, and steel hands ; a long gold Chain, small round links ; a silver lover Watch, maker's name ' Ive, Cornhill, London'; 2 gold Studs, Grecian pattern ; a pair of gold Ear- rings, balls with spike pendants ; a pair of gold Ear- rings with two links ; a new gold Brooch with garnets ; a gold Brooch, round buckle ; a silver Brooch, forms a circle; a gold Locket, Grecian pattern ; 12 electro- plated Tea- spoons ; a pair of electro- plated Sugar- tongs ; 2 ditto Mustard- spoons; 2 ditto Salt- spoons ; a scarf Ring, with gold links ; a black silk velvet Jacket, trimmed at the back, lined with black silk, quilted pockets ; about £ 5 in Money ; and a Post- Office Savings Bank Book, No. 737, issued at Moss- side. Supposed by two men, who were seen begging in the neighbourhood : 1st, about 50 years of s> ge, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark com- plexion, whiskers at end of chin, and no moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, and soft billycock hat. 2nd, about 24 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, full face, and very stout; dressed in dark mixture suit, and soft cap with peak. A reward of £ 5 will be paid for information leading to the apprehension of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Superinl ecdent Bent, County Police Office, Old Trafford, near Manchester— Bovi- stfeet, March 9. Description of JOHN GRIME, a coal agent, in the employ of the Darcy Lever Coal Company, who absconded from Bury, about 27th ultimo, charged on a warrant wiih embezzling £ 100 and upwards : he is 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, very dark brown hair, brown eyes, very stout build, supposed to hmve lost two upper front teeth, very hairy on the body ; generally wears dark cloth or tweed suit, and hard round felt hat; sings tenor, is fond of music, and has a very pleasant agreeable manner. It is thought he may emigrate. Information to be given at the County Police Office, Bury, Lancashire, Bow- street, March 9. Absconded from Eastbourne, Sussex, on 5th instant, charged with stealing a new pair of black cloth Trousers, recovered : a man, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, rather pale thin face, daik hair, rather slight figure, by trade a journeyman tailor, supposed to be a native of White- chapel, London, and is a society man ; Dressed in diagonal cloth cutaway coat, dark fancy cloth trousers, and black boulder crowned felt hat. Suppose'! to be in. company with another journeyman tailor, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, moustache, and imperial, no whiskers, slight figure; dressed in blue fancy cloth cutaway coat, dark tweed vest and trousers, and black boulder crowned felt hat, or high black silk hat. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Newnham, East- bourne, Sussex.— Bow- street, March 9. Stolen since 28th ultimo, from 75, victoria- street, West- minster : a black cloth Jacket, 2 Petticoats ( 1 black cashmere and 1 black stuff); 2 night Dresses, marked ' E. H. P.' in ink ; some bed Linen, marked in red cotton with a coronet mono- gram ' X' and ' 1864'; 3 Rings ( 2 gold, 1 set with turquoise); and 1 old fashioned, and 1 plain Chain. By a, woman 33 yrs. of age, fair complexion, light brown hair, and stout build ; dressed in dark waterproof cloak, light cotton frock, and black bonnet.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, March 9. Absconded on 28th. ultimo, from Grove House, Duke- street, Lisson- grove, embezzling £ 20 15s. : JOHN BROWN, a clerk, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, light grey eyes, sad expression, fair hair and moustache, slight, and siender build ; dressed in long brown overcoat, dark grey suit, brown low- crowned hat ; he is a native of Glasgow, Scotland. Absconded or 3rd instant, from Old- street, St, Luke's, embezzling about £ 40; a man, 45 years of age 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, grey hair, bald on top of head, dark moustache; dressed in grey Scotch tweed suit, leather knickerbockers, black billvcock hat; he was formerly a captain in the army, at d it is supposed that he will endeavour to go to Turkey.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, March 7. Yates' on tab ; a Vest to match, single- breasted with collar stitched donjn, three pockets outside, buttons to match, lined with white twill, and inside the Vest at the bottom are different sorts of cloth ; a pair of Trousers to match, fly fronts, bell bottoms, and lined with white twill; a 3- gill bottle of Braudy; and a pint bottle of Whiskey. 10s. reward will be paid by the owner of the property for such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property.
