At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against som ? person or persons unknown' was returned. Information to be given to Chief Constable Richardson, Borough Police Office, South Shields, Durham. — Bow street, March 2. . On 10th ultimo, a black canvas bag, about 15 inches long, and 10 inches in depth, with handle on top, containing the dead body of a male child, Apparently about 5 months old, wrapped in two pieces of flannel, three pieces of white dress lining, one piece of blanket, the feet of a pair of small worsted stockings, a pocket handkerchief, white ground, with spotted pink border, and a napkin, marked in black ink at corner with letter ' B.', all much worn and dirty, was booked at the railway station, Liverpool- street, London, addressed to ' Frederick Driver, Esq., Railway Hotel, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk,' at which place it arrived by mail train at 3 30 a. m,, on 11th ultimo. At the coroner's inquest, a verdict of wilful murder was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Pigott, County Police Station, Norwich, or to Superintendent Basham, Police Station, Acle, Norfolk.— Bow- street, March 2. Description of THOMAS BAKER, alias MAY, who is charged with maliciously wounding on the 17th instant, Kate Painter ( whose life is despaired of), with whom he cohabited at 43, Dean- street, Birmingham: he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark whiskers and moustache, turning grey; dressed in dark clothes, and soft billycock hat. He has lately kept a brothel at the above address. It is supposed that he left Birmingham late on the aight of the 17th or early on the morning of the 18th instant, He is known in Piccadilly," London. Kate Painter is a married woman, and her husband a cattle dealer, living in Alderwick- cfttages, Barnsbury- grove, Islington, London. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. On the 11th instant, the body of a newly- born male Child, with its skull fractured, was found in a nude state in a ditch on the side of the North Union Railway at Euxton. At the Coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' was returned. Absconded from Ipswich, about 13th instant, charged on a warrant with forgery: FREDERIC W. WARD, an accountant, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and eyes, very slight whiskers, and fair moustache. He is a native of Bury St. Edmunds, walks erect, and has plausible manners. Between 2 and 6 p. m., on 23rd instant, a cottage at Chalvey, Bucks, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a suit of men's light Clothes; ditto of black cloth Clothes ; a black Coat; pair of plaid Trousers ; two damask Table- cloths ; and a small brass Clock. Supposed by a tramp about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather sore eyes, fresh complexion, light hair, light sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a dark coat with velvet collar, blacK billycock hat, and rather light trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, February 28. The cottage of Peter Moloney, at Mawley, was broken and entered at 4.30 p. m. on 22nd instant, by a tramp, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stout made, dark hair, hanging down on his shoulders, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in black round felt hat, coat and trousers, patched, and vest very much torn, and lace- up boots. The undermentioned property stolen by means of house- breaking at No. 8, Brunswick- square, Penrith, as advertised in the Police Gazette of 11th October last, has not been recovered : a pair of silver sugar Tongs, marked ' A. M. B.'; six silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A. M. Found at Slough, on 17th instant, and supposed to have been stolen : a very dark brown Mare, aged, about 15 hands 2 inches high, small white star on forehead, and tail cut square. Description of EDWARD GRANT, charged with stealing a Shawl and 30 yards of Cloth, at Whitchurch, Salop, the property of his employer : he is a pedlar hawking with a parchment certificate, issued at Kidderminster, early in January last, 28 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, dark com- plexion and hair ; dressed in light coloured check tweed suit, strong lace up boots, and hard felt hat; is a native of County Down, Ireland. Carries a pack covered with black American cloth. Was at Wem on 22nd J. muary last, and left there in the direction of Hodnet. Information to be given to Super- intendent Haines, or Sergeant Lear, Whitchurch, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 2. Stolen at Hockliffe, during the night of 22nd ultimo : a screw Hammer, a pair of Pincers, marked ' R. Abbis'; a Chisel, marked ' R. and J. Rabton'; a pair of Plyers, 3 hand Hammers, one of them for shoeing ; 2 small Wrenches, and 3 Gimlets. Description of WILLIAM SANDERS, late a miller in the service of Mr. James Simon, of Woollerton Mill, parish of Hoanet, who absconded about 18th instant, charged with embezzling £ 2 10s. : about 49 years of age, 5 feet C or 7 inches high, light complexion, hair turning grey, moustache, no whiskers, rather bow legs. Supposed dressed in a grey suit, or his mill clothes, made of barrageh. He will probably seek employment at mills. Has a very weak voice. Further information respectiDg color- sergeant FRADLEY, 1st Battalion, loth Regiment, advertised in the Police Gazette on 19th instant, charged with larceny : he is supposed to be accompanied by a woman belonging to Sheffield, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, light browjrhair, hazel eyes, swarthy complexion, and has a cut on upper lip ; she was wearing a brown dress, black jacket, green hat, with some fur in front, lace up boots. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Hooton, Cheshire, between 9 a. m. 22nd and. 7 30 a, in. on 24th instant: a blue pilot ulster Overcoat, lined with check plaid, two pockets outside, one inside left breast, and ticket pocket right sleeve, straps on cuffsi and back, large astracan fur collar,, maker ' John Williams, 15, Lord- street, Liverpool' inside collar; a light blue twilled serge Coat, with velvet collar, two pockets outside, and ticket pocket, maker ' John Williams, 15, Lord- street, Liverpool' inside collar; and a black and white reversible Mackintosh Coat, torn on one alee re. By two men, one about 34 years of age, low stature, slender build, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, and slight whiskers all round face ; dressed in blue pilot cloth monkey jacket, dark cloth trousers, and black cloth cap, with leather peak ; speaks with a strong Irish accent. The other from 18 to 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stout build, fresh, com- plexion, round red face, and dark hair, cut short; dressed in the stolen twilled serge coat, canvas trousers', daik cloth cap, with French peak, and Derby tie shoes ; ha may be wearing a pair of dark cloth trousers, torn on left knee, and hard felt hat, which were stolen from 2 Court, 4 House, Charles- st,, Chester. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, Birkenhead, Cheshire.— Bow- street, February 28. Description of BENJAMIN MORGAN, charged with stealing 8 lbs. weight of strip Copper, and a gross ot Copper Serews ; the property of riamuel Walker, his master ; about 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, beard and moustache, full face, and stout build. He is a builder and a native of Nayland, Pembrokeshire, where he has been in business, and is known at Haverfordwest. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Birmingham, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st., Feb. 26, Absconded on 16th instant, from 43, Crawford- street, Marylebone, embezzling £ 230 : a man 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion; dressed iu black Oxford mixture coat, high hat, has been residing at Oxford- villa, Willow- vale, Uxbridge- road, Shepherds Bush.— Metropolitan Police, D Divuion, February 26. Absconded on 20th instant from Penrith, charged with larceny: a tramp, between 40 and 50 isears of age, 5 feet 4 to 6 inches high, slender figure, dark hair, whi.- kers, and moustache, long than nose, tbin features ; dressed in faded black cloth frock coat and trousers, and haru billycock hat. He says he has been in the Army, and is suffering from a sore on the right shin bone. Frequents common lodging houses, buys rags, and sometimes sells needles and pencils. FREDERICK HOLMES, alias HOMAY, escaped from the custody of a police constable while being conveyed to the Daventry Police Station, on a charge of larceny; he is about 5 feet 5 inches high, 27 years of age, but younger in appearance, light brown hair, grey eyes, broad features, clean shaved, fresh complexion, thick- set, and is a shoe- finisher; he is known in most of the shoe manufacturing towns. Information to be given to Samuel Royle, Borough Gaol, Daventry, Northamptonshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and by whom £ o reward will be paid.— Bow- street, February 26. Description of HARRY JOHNSON, a man of colour, who absconded from Nottingham, on 30th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing two Coats, a Shirt, Necktie, Hat, Trunk, and a . icarf : ho is about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, had a moustache,, and is rather sJightly made ; he has worked as a stoker at gas works, also at iron works, where he may seek employment. He is accompanied by a • woman, 33 years of age, short, fair, fresh complexion, light hair, and has an abscess scar one side of neck or under the jaw. They booked for Darlington. By WALTER SUTTON, 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, proportionate build, hair and hands looked from using rouge m his trade as watch case polisher ; dressed in brown frock coat, seedy looking, black trousers, red at knees. Doubtless accompanied by his wife, 24 years of age, dark complexion, stout, brown frizzy hair, and has two children aged 3 years and 12 months respectively. Informa- tion to be given to Head Constable Norris, Coventry, who holds a wairant for his apprehension.— Bwa- ttreet, March 2. Charged at Berwick- upon- Tweed with uttering a counter- feit Sovereign on the evening of 26th ult. : a man, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or- 7 inches high, stoutly made, full face, darkish hair; dressed in old cloth suit, very much faded, having a greenish colour, cloth cap with cloth peak, and reddish muffler. He had the appearance of a labourer or tramp. He obtained 4 ounces of cut bird's eye tobacco and change for the sovereign, which is dated 1837 with horse and rider one side, and Victoria on the other, and has the appear- ance of having been carried in the pocket for a considerable time.
