Absconded on the 5th or 6th instant : FREDERICK MICHAEL RAILTON, charged on a warrant with having on the 6th ultimo, at Blackburn, forged an Acquittance and Receipt for £ 73 3s. 91. ; also other large sums of Money; • with intent to defraud the Phoenix Fire Assurance Company.' He is 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, rather stout make, round face, pale complexion, dark hair and slight daik whiskers, rather short neck, and a native of Blackburn, but at present is in bad health through drinking, & c. ; smokes cigars, and has a (- light squint in both eyes ; usually dressed in grey overcoat, aud black billycock hat. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to his arrest, will receive a reward of £ 25 on application to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, Feb. 14. Description of three men, suspected of having presented forged cheques on the London and Westminster Bank for sums of £ h and £ 10 each, purporting to be drawn by ' Frier, 1 Mayer & Company, hop merchants, Southwark,' in London, and at Luton, Beds, and Harpenden, Herts : lst., about 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slender build, pale round face, fair complexion, light hair, no beard, whiskers or moustache, small features, and effeminate appear- ance; dressed in thin daik colour overcoat, dark mixture trousers, coloured striped shirt, speckled cloth billycock hat, and boots much worn. Clothing generally shabby. 2ud, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair, no beaid, whiakers or moustache, pale face, avid prominent nose; dressed in dar k blue, witney'pilot coat, lavender- coloured trousers, higli black hat, wore a carbuncle scarf pin, a pair of light- coloured gloves, and smart silk pocket hand- kerchief (( jink) no border, and carried a silk umbrella. 3rd, about 26 or 27 years of age, short and rather stout, ! light hair and whiskers, cut close down to chin, and flushed face; dressed in dark overcoat, dark cutaway underneath ditto, ditto trousers and vest, low crowned black deerstalker hat. yellow gloves with black stitching, and of smart appear- ance. Had with them an old brown leather portmanteau with two handles on the top. The cheques referred to were presented to brewers, and the police are leqtiested to warn all persons in that trade, with a view to the apprehension of the above mentioned individuals. Two men charged with pocket picking on the platform of the Devizes Railway Station, ou the 14th instant: one about 18 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, genteel appearance, pale thin clean face ; dressed in black bowler hat, dark coat below the knees, brown leather leggings. The other 25 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, thin, and sallow complexion; dressed in plaid cloth helmet, and long blue overcoat. Between the hours of 11 p. m. on the 7th, and 6 a. m. on 8th instant, the dwelling house of a gentleman at Oxton, was entered by forcing the windows with a jemmy, aud stolen therein : a lady's blue double- caped twilled cloth waterproof Cloak, nearly new, marked on the loop ' George Henry Lee and Compy., Basnett- street, Liverpool'; a pair of lady's plain kid Boots, with 7 buttons, brass heels, aud newly soled ; a tweed mixture shooting Coat, brown, red, and white colour, much worn, two pockets outside, two iu skirt, one ticket ; 3 black cloth Vests, one ribbed cloth, nearly new, bound with black braid, the others dress, one lined with white, the other primrose colour. During the nigbt of 12th instant the dwelling- house of Mr. William James Thompson, Fetcham, Surrey, was broken into and stolen therein : a silver Waiter, a silver Sugar Basin and Spoon ; a silver Card- case, crest a man's hand holding a dagger ; an electro- plated Cruet StaD'l with silver tops ; aiid a dark green leather despatch Box. Information to be given to Superintendent, Lambert, Surrey Constabulary, Dorking, or to Inspector Bedford, Leatherhead, Surrey.— Bow- streev, February 16. About 11' 30 p m, on the 10th instant, the house No. 59, Lister- street, Hull, was broken into and entered, and stolen therein : a gentleman's gold Ring, large diamond in centre ; a lady's gold Ring, containing hair, carved- en each side with rows, and has an inscription of a birth and death ; a lady's gold Ring, which has had hair in it; a gold Locket, to hold four portraits, opens in centre ; a gold Broocb, about size of a sixpence, containing light hair ; a gold breast Piu, set with j blue stones, red stone in centre ; a gdld Seal, cornelian stone ;! a brass knuckle Duster, £ 13 in Gold, £ 1 in Silver, and i blue . silk Neckties with white spots. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement: CHARLES CULLEN, a baker, lately in tbe employ of Mr. W V. Oakley, of Fu. ruham, 26 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, rather stoutly built, dark complexion, black moustache, has a hare Jip, and has a great impediment in his speech ; generally wears a dark ulster coat, and a black felt rnuud- crowned hat, ( on one side); he was iast heard of at Euston- square Railway Station, London, where he took a ticket for Nottingham. Stolen on the 12 th instant, from Hunter- street: two white cotton Sheets, marked ' McCulloch' in ink; a white calico* Chemise ; a night Gown, ' Caider and Rogers'; a white linen Body; a baby's Flannel; two children's white cotton Niglit- gowns; and two white calico Pillow Cases. Pearson' inside the collar : a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches bigb, fresh complexion, biown eyes, fair hair, broken nose, a ehoemaker by trade, and has been a soldier; dressed iu a toft black billycock hat, black cloth trousers and vest, far worn, rough harden apron, and supposed to be wearing the stolen overcoat. Morewood, of Smethwick : a boas 38 years of age, 5 ft. 4 ius. high, dark complexion, very black hair, whiskers and mous- tache, and has erup'ions on his face, chiefly about his fore- head ; is generally dressed in dark clothes and tall hat. He has a peculiar gait in walking, and works his arms a great deal, and leans forward; is a native of Dorchester, Oxford- shire, where his father now lives. He is supposed to have some property in Oxford. Information to be given to Ser- geant Asbury, Smethwick, near Birmingham.— Bow- sireefI, February 12. Was carrying a small black portmanteau, and enquiring for lodgings. He booked by Gieat Western Railway, for Southampton, the same day. By a man, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, light brown Lair, blue eyes, small moustache, has a sly downcast look, a blue mark across bridg^ of nose, and white scar on forehead ; dressed as a navvy. Absconded, embezzling £ 7 6a. 8d., the monies of the Foresters Society, Westmorland Lodge, ' Westmorland Arms' public house, George- street, Marylebone : GEORGE TIMS, 58 years of age, 5 Seet 5 inches high, fair complexion, grey whiskers, curly hair ; dressed in dark clothes, respectable appearance. And MARY MARSLAND, 21 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh com- plexion, dark brown hair; dressed iu black and white polonaise, black skirt, brown jacket fitting tight, bia- ik velvet bonuet; had with her a child about 3 months old. They are accompanied by two sisters, one 19 years of age, very fresh complexion, fair hair. Tbe other 15 years of age, fresh com- plexion, fair hair.
