INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. £ 50 reward will be paid for the apprehension or such information as will lead to the apprehension of WILLIAM CLARKE, alias WESTON, alias BURK, alias ROSE, alias SLENDERMAN, who is charged with three other men in custody, with the murder of Henry Walker, a gamekeeper, of Norton Disney, Lincolnshire, on the 30th ultimo: he is between 40 and 50 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, grey eyes, dark brown hair, dark complexion, long face, clean shaved, cut on. right side of nose, thick lips, and slightly round shoulders, he is a brickmaker ; dressed in a long brown jacket with large patch- on right shoulder, drab navvy slop underneath, fustian trousers, brown hairy cap, strong nailed boots, nearly new, and short leather leggings ; he is likely to make for a seaport. A warrant is in the hands of the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire, to whom, or to any Officer of the Lincolnshire Constabulary, information may be given. — Bow- street, February 5. Absconded from Conisbrough, near Doncaster, on 7th ultimo, charged ou a warrant with malicious wounding MICHAEL alias JOSEPH RHODY, a labourer, 24 years of age, fresh complexion, freckled face, grey eyes, dark brown hair, slight whiskers, and proportionate build, has a piece bitten off the bottom o£ right ear ; dressed in dark mixture cloth suit, soft cap with peak and knob on top, aud clogs or militia boots. He belongs to the 3rd West York Militia. Information to be given to Superintendent Astwocu, West Riding Constabulary, Doncaster, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, February 2. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Description of a tramp who gives the name of JONA- THAN KIRBY, a native of Liverpool, on remand at Stony Stratford police station till 2nd proximo, charged with arson : 26 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, walks lame, his right knee being contracted ; dressed in old dark cloth coat, grey tweed trousers, hard felt billycock hat, white shirt with blue stripes. He states he lived with his aunt at Northorpe, near Mold, Flintshire, from 1865 till 1868, and from the beginning of 1868 he lms been working in a colliery at Crook, Whitwell, Spennymoor, Whitby Hill, Frinden Grange, and Whitworth, Durham, and from the beginning of 1876 he has been on tramp, lodging at various tramp wards, Unions, and low lodging houses. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Police Station, Fenny Stratford, or Inspector Webb, Police Station, Stony Stratford, Bucks.— Bow- street, January 31. J. Burniston, Sunderland, to William Murgatroyd, Bradford; a small dark browa leather Satchel, with steel chain about the size of a man's head, and has been in use for many years; atid a puce velvet Purse, plai i on one side, aud beaded on the other. The person who has committed the robbery has cut his hand, supposed the left, as a brown cloth driving glove with leather fingers, is missing, and the right glove left. Two men who called at the house about a month ago with gas burners to sell, are strongly suspected for this and similar robberies in the Riding. Information to be given to Chief Constable Withers, Town Hall, Bradford, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, February7. On 4th instant, between 6 and 8 p. m. the dwelling- house of Joseph Lightfoot, Hailgate, Howden. was broken and entered and stolen therein : 1 lady's gold Watch, patent lever, rim capped, jewelled in 4 holes, gold dial, steel hands, gold balance wheel English make, and a lady's gold Chain attached; 4 gold Brooches, one containing a Likeness and Hair, the others polished stones ; 1 Case of gold Studs ; 2 gold Breast Pins, one of them oval shape, the other a square one; 1 leather Satchel, marked ' A. Grundy,' containing 2J dozen of silver Tea Spoons, 1 dozen Plated ditto, 2 pairs of Sugar Bows ; 1 dozen Table Knives, large siz->, 1 dozen small ones, maker's name ' Yellow Lees, Selkirk'; 1 carving Knife and Fork, 2 Steel Folks - with ivory handles; 1 dozen large size plated Forks, 1 dozen small ones, marked ' L,' 1 Steel with ivory handle, 2 leather Satchel?, 2 Umbrellas, 5 silk Pocket Handkerchiefs, red and white spots, 1 gentleman's drab cloth Topcoat with velvet collar, 1 dark blue worsted Jacket, bound with black braid, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast. Between 5 and 6 p. m. on ths 5th instant, the dwelling honse of R Abis, at Shorne, Kent, was broken aud entered, and stolen therein : a black cloth-- 8uit, mail's size, marked R. A'- ds' in ink in several places on the lining of each garment. By a man. about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, daik brown hair, beard, whitkeis, and moustache"; dressed in dark mixture coat, grey trousers, and billycock hat, Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Kent Constabulary, Chatham.— Bmo- tlreei, February 7. Absconded, charged with breaking into a dwelling- house at Arrowe, between 1 and 4 p. m. on ths 30th ultimo, and stealing therein a pair of dark grey cloth Trousers ( recovered). Also for breaking into a dwelling- house at Storeton, about noon on the 3lst ultimo, and stealiug therein a dark grey shooting Coat and Test ( recovered). Also for breaking into a dwelling- house at Grange, about 4 p. m. on the 2nd instant, and stealing therein a silver verge Watch ( recovered), au old- fashioned large siza verge Watch, with German silver cases, and 3s. 7d. in Money. And also for breaking into a dweiling- house at Little Meols, about 2 p. m. on the 2nd instant, and stealing therein, a single- barrelled Gun, brass plate broken near the hammer, spring of lock out of repair, stock made of ach and varnished ; a pair of Eye- ises, iu black frame; a leather shot Bag; a, copper Powder Flask, with steel spring ; and a Cap, trimmed with black and white ribbon : a mau, between 25 and 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches bigh, daik complexion, 119 beard, and small dark moustache ; dressed in light grey shooting coat, with velvet collar, dark grey striped trousers, and dark cloth cap. Stolen on the night of the 24th ultimo, from a field at Rudge Heath, Salop : a fat Shropshire Down Sheep, heavy lock- woolled, marked with pitch on the right side ' J. W.' £ 15 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders, £ 0 by the owner, Mr. John Wilson, the Warren Farm, Rudge, and .£ 10 by the Claverley Association for the prosecution of felons. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Christie, or Sergeant Lear, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- itreet, February 5. Stolen from the Warren Farm, Rudge, on the night of the 24th, or early on the morning of the 25th ultimo : a Sheep, Shropshire Down breed, marked ' J. W.' with pitch on the right side. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall on conviction, receive £ 10 from the Claverley Association for the prosecution of felons, and £ 5 from Mr. John Wilson, the owner. Also stolen from a farm at Beobridge, Claverley, on the evening of the 25th ultimo : a Sheep. Two persons are in custody on charge of being implicated in the robbery. Who- ever will give such information as shall convict the offender or offenders, shall on conviction, receive £ 10 from the Claverley Association for the prosecution of felons, and £ 10 from Mr. William Wilson, the owner. Stolen from a field near Oswestry, on the 3lst ultimo 6 wether Sheep, pitch mark on each side ' R. P.', long tails, and are cross of the Welsh aud Clun breed. Supposed by a man, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sandy whiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat, carried a long stick, aud had the appearance of a drover. Information to be given to Superintendent Gougb, Oswestry, Salop.— Bow- street, February 7. Description of WALTER WHITE, charged with steal ing ou the lst instant : a Pony and Dog Cart from a beer- house keeper in Sheffield ; about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, fresn complexion, dark eyes, hair and moustache, round face, clean shaved, large mouth, and talks very fast; dressed in a long blue ovepcoat, having a piece torn out ut back of collar, aud hard black felt hat. The Pony is a dark brown mare, about 13 hands high, and aged; has been recently clipped, and is without mane except near the forehead. The Ham as bad silver plated mountings, is nearly new, and made to fit the Pony. The Dog Cart has a green body, red wheels and shafts, the spokes and shafts being picked out, wiih white, the seat fastens with a bolt, and the door at the back will let down. WHITE alJo took a Horse Rug, black on oue side and black and red stripes on the other, and a red cane Whip, information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Sheffield, who holds a walrant for his apprehension. — How- street, February 5. By THOMAS GREEN, a lodger, 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light complexion, brown hair, Bhaves clean, lost first, joint of right forefinger, and is a miner ; dressed in black cloth jacket, woollen cord trousers, soft billycock hat, and grey aud white striped woollen shirt; he has blue rings round several fingers, a cannon ou one arm, a sailor aud crossed flags on both arms ; supposed to have served in the Royal Marines ; he said he has a sister and nephew living at 18, Sussex- street, Sheffield, who keep a tin shop, and that he is wanted at Wakefield or Sheffield, Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 7. Absconded charged with embezzlement on the 2ad inst., from Stratford- upon- Avon : HENRY LOUCH, clerk to the Canal aud Great Western Railway Company, 30 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, slender butid. fresh complexion* brown hair, thin whiskers and moustache, tuft of hair on chin inclined to be sandy, generally wears spectacles, and splays his feet wheu walking; generally dressed in a dark frock overcoat, and deerstaker hat. Information to be given to Head Constable Rowley, Stratford- on- Avon, Warwickshire who holds a warrraut for Lis apprehension.— Bow- street, February 7. Stolen early on the morning of the 6th instant, from a cottage at Lichfield : a new pair of lady's elastic- side Boots No. 4 size, levant hide, black bottoms, brass ri vetted and high heels. By a man, who took lodgings there the evening before, stating that he was going to work at the City Railway- Station, Lichfield, in the engineering line, about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches higb, proportionate make, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in black clothes, and hard black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hernaman, Guildhall Lich- field, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, February 7. Absconded from Warrington, charged with stealing two Watches ( recovered) entrusted to hitn to repair, on the 27th ultimo : ROBERT MORRISON, a journeyman watchmaker native of Scotland, and well known at Aberdeen, where he has been in busiuess as a publican or hotel keeper about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair and eyes, round shouldered, and speaks with a broad Scotch accent. Has woiked at his trade in London, Manchester and some of the principal provincial towns. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hunt, Warrington, Lancashire. — bow- itreet, February 7. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from the dwelling- house of George Jones, Rhostyllen : an old red and black mixture clotb Jacket, mended and turned inside out, and the breast pocket sewn up; a brown cloth Shawl with red and wbite border and fringe; and an Overcoat, mended in the lining with a square black patch of stuff at the shoulders. By a man who lodged in the house and left at 6 a. m. ; 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, short light hair, aud long features ; dressed in a dark clotli coat, moleskin trousers and waistcoat! He is a native of Wigan, Lancashire, and is likely to wear the Topcoat. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire. — Bow- street February 7. ' Stolen at Newmarket on the 3rd instant: 2 calico Shirts coarse, dirty, and split up the middle; 2 pairs of brown cotton Stockings ; 1 Pocket Knife, with two blades, and pearl handle with crack on one side; 1 Book of Pilgrim's Progress; 1 coarse Comb ; 1 bricklayer's Shovel, nearly new has a knot in the handle. By a bricklayer's labourer, who' absconded, about 25 yeais of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, and small light whiskers; dressed in old soft billycock hat, dark coat and waistcoat, and old light patched trousers. He was reared in a training ship, and has served in the Army or Navy. Information to be given to Superintendent Benson, Newmarket, Cambridge.— Bow- street, February 7. Description of CHARLES SANDFORD, alias LESTER, alias EDWARDS, charged with stealing in October last, in Sudbury, the property of William Henry Smith, Sadler, & c. : 4 horse Collars, 4 Whips, 2 riding Bridles, & c-, recovered. He is 19 years of 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, and blue eyes ; he is a labourer, and belongs to the West Suffolk militia, and was last heard of in the neighbourhood of the Great Eastern Railway Com- pany Goods Station, London. Information to be given to Superintendent Sack, Sudbury, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 7. Description of JAMES WILSON, who absconded from Gelly Farm, Pontardulais, on the 18th ultimo, charged with embezzling the sum of £ 3, the property of Mr. John Powell, his employer : 18 years of age, about 5 feet high, rather stout, short neek, on the left side of which there is a scar, and generally wears a cravat or muffler to conceal it, stoops very much, pale complexion, light brown hair ; dressed in a shabby brown overcoat., pilot cloth trousers which are to large for him, black cloth cap with cheeseeutter peak, aud high strong lace- up boots. He took a ticket at Pontardulais Railway Station for Euston Station, London, and left by the 5 p. m. train on the 18th ultimo. He was sent from the Marlborough- street Police Court on the 30th September, 1870, to the Middlesex Industrial School for begging, from whence he was discharged about 2 years ago, since then he has been in the service of Mr. J. Williams, Surgeon, Abertillery. His father is supposed to be residing in some part of St. Paul'i Churchyard, and is employed as a compositor in a printing office in that heighbourhood. He has several brothers^ and sisters in London, one of his sisters who is married is residing fat 20, Verulam- street, Grays Inn- road, and a brother is living in the same street, also a brother of his formerly dwelt at 30, Liquorpond- street, Grays Inn- road ; 18 months ago be was working for a dairyman in Leather- lane, Holborn, and he is likely to be found in that neighbourhood. Infor- mation to ba given to Superintendent Harris, Llanelly, or to Police Constable Davies, Pontardulais, South Wales.' Brno- street, February 7. Stolen from a dwelling- house, in Oldham, between 11 p. m. on the 6th and 9 a. m, on the 7th ultimo : a double- ease skeleton lever Watch, No. 12050, maker ' Hayes, Oldham'; a silver Geneva Watch, white dial, has a piece broken off little . finger; a single- breasted light mixture cloth Vest, trimmed with light bone buttons ; a pair of watertight lace- up Boots, brass eyelet holes, patent hooks at top, and plates on the heels; and £ 5 in Gold. By STEPHEN BRIERLEY, a labourer, who lodged in the house about three weeks ; he has been three years in the Bleasdale Reformatory School; about 32 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, a tuft of hair ( sandy) on chin, red mark under left eye, large cut mark on one thumb, has lost an upper front tooth, and is supposed to have a bracelet tattooed ou his left wrist. Information to be given to the Chief Con- stable, Town Hall, Oldham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,'—. Boie- street, February 5. Absconded on 27th ultimo, embezzling £ 11 Is. from 367 Strand : a man 25 years ef age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light moustache and whiskers, and shaves under the chin ; dressed in brown overcoat, dark striped trousers, and high black hat,— Metropolitan Police, E Division, February 5. Absconded from Hastings, charged on a warrant with stealing on 22nd ultimo, 3 pairs of side- spring Boots £ a man who gave the name of W. S. HARRISON, about 55 years of age, 6 feet high, hair and whiskers turning grey, no moustache; dressed in black suit, white neckerchief, broad brimmed black hat. He is rather Btout, and had the appear- ance of a clergyman. He ordered a quantity of goods from several tradesmen to be sent to an hotel where he stayed one night, and went away with the whole of them. Description of JOHN THOMAS WRIGHT, a joiner, late of Micklehurst, Cheshire, who has absconded, charged • with stealing from a joiner's shop at Sanbeds, on the 26th ultimo: a hand Saw, marked ' Groves and Sons, Sheffield'; a 1^- inch paring Chisel, with new box- wood haft; a beech- wood Mallet, with ash- wood handle ; a smooth Plane, 2|-- inch. iron; a Hammer, Lancashire make; an Oil- stone, in sycamoor stock, all marked 1R. Thornley ;' a plugging Chisel, marked ' W. W.'; an oil- stone, in deal- wood stock; a paring Chisel, marked ' H, O.'; a jack Plane, marked ' Varvill and Son, York'; and a pai - of Pincers : be is about 21 years of age, 5 feet high, light complexion, light brown hair, rather curly, light moustache, no whiskers, and stout build; says he is a native of Leicester ; dressed in a drab or blue pilot cloth reefing jacket, light coloured vest, dark cloth trousers, with narrow light stripe, and dark soft felt hat; he has been traced to New Mills with the stolen tools in his possession ; it is supposed that he will seek employment between New Mills aud Leicester, has been in custody at Leicester and Stalybridge for larceny ; he is fond of singing in publie- hoiises and beer- houses. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Saddleworth. who holds a warrant for his apprehension. Bow street, February 5. Stolen in Ipswich on the 3rd instant, from 82, Foundation- street : a gold albert chain, long links, gold Seal with dark blood stone with red spots attached ; a pair of Trousers, Vest, and Coat, the latter three articles have been found pledged By a man, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, long heavy sandy moustache, and whiskers in a line with the moustache to the ears, chin shaved, very thin sandy hair, parted in the centre ; dressed in light tweed suit, high black hat, low shoes, striped socks, and gentlemanly appearance. He said he was a printer, and that ho served his time ia Kings Lynn, Norfolk. He is supposed to come from Bury St. Edmunds, to Ipswich. Absconded from Stroud on the 26th ultimo, charged ® n a warrant with larceny, as a bailee, of £ 2, the Monies of Joseph Daniels : SAMUEL BRIDGES alias JONES, about 33 or 34 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight build, dark hair, eyes and complexion, large dark eyebrows, no whiskers, dark moustache, large Roman nose, and stoops when walk- ing ; dressed in dark grey jacket, black bowler hat, and generally wears an apron rolled up around his waist; he iB a X7 hawker of pictures and repairs umbrellas, and would most likely ba found in low beer or lodging houses. Supposed to be a native of Birmingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Hanbridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, February 2. Stolen from a cottage at the Glidrirtt, near Chirk, on the 1st instant: £ 2, By a man who took lodgings there on the 31st ultimo, stating that he was foreman over some men who were working on the Great Western Railway, between Chirk and Ruabon : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sandy hair, no whiskers; dressed in a fawn- coloured cloth coat, black vest, dark trousers, lace- up boots, and black billycock hat, Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Salop.— Row- sffeei, February 2. Since he has been at large he has married, and on the 18th instant was traced to Chester- street, Birkenhead, where he had been lodging for several days with his wife and mother- in- law, and two children about 6 or 8 months old. The wife is about 23 or 24 years of age, of small stature, light hair, and has lost one eye ; she wore a red and black plaid shawl, and a hat. The mother- in- law is about 40 or 45 years of age, supposed to be wearing a striped shawl, and is shabbily dressed, WOODVINE worked at Ball's Pond, Birkenhead, on the 18th instant, and left on the follow- ing ' morning. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of THOMAS alias JEREMIAH CHAMBERS, a person under police supervision, who failed to report himself at the Police Station, Worksop, on the 4th October last: he is 40 years of age, 5 feet 2| inches high, dark brown hair, mole right side of belly, scar on two fingers of left hand inside, and scar over left eye. He was convicted of receiving stolen property at Nottingham Quarter Sessions on 7th April, 1873, and sen- tenced to 12 months imprisonment, and 5 years police super- vision. Description of four licence holders, who have left Plymouth without reporting themselves to the police : WILLIAM DARLEY, No. X 1121, 39 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, tattoo marks on both arms, with name and images, and scars on breast. He was convicted at the Devon Assizes on 22nd July, 1871, for housebreaking at Tavistock, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 4 years police supervision. WILLIAM KELLY, No. W. 792, 37 years of age, 5 feet 4- f inches high, swarthy complexion, brown hair, grey eye8, lame right leg, cut on chin, blue spot right side of nose, small indentation in right cheek, ruptured right side, right thigh been broken, joint of 3rd finger right hand injured, scar on nose, left shm, left arm, and palm of hand, left thumb injured. He was convicted at Bridgnorth Quarter Sessions on 30th December, 1870, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude for receiving money, knowing it to be stolen. ELLEN KELLY, No. 13 W, 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, freckled complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes, scar on right hip, and cut at both corners of left eye. She was convicted at Bridgnorth on 30th December, 1870, for stealing Money from the person and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude ; she is the wife of the above, and they are together. JOHN JONES, Y 293, 37 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, black hair, dark hazel eyes, several scais on back, scar under lip, left side of nose, left groin, and on belly, tooth in upper jaw turned inward. He was con- victed at Blymouth on 4th April, 1872, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude. He was discharged from Borstal Prison on 29th ultimo. JAMES McMULLEN, a convict licenseholder, Register No. Y 717, who failed to report himself to the police at Old Cumnock on the 28th ultimo : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, marks of a scar on left knee, a cross, 7 stars and ' I. H. S.' 0,4 the front of right arm below the elbow, mole under left eye, and several small scars on back ; he is a labourer and was convicted of insubordination and violence at a General Court Martial at Devonport on 14th Sept., 1872, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude. Description of a person who has failed to report herself to the police at Nafferton, East Riding of Yorkshire: ELIZABETH BILLINGS, alias ROBINSON, 2024 R, 24 years of age, 4 feet 11| inches high, light brown hair, and marks of scar on eyebrow. She was convicted at Hull in August, 1874, of felony, aud sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, and 5 years police supervision. Has been convicted at Wakefield 3 times, and at Bradford on the 14th June, 1872, of felony. She left Hull on 23rd ultimo for Nafferton. No. X 848, who has ielt his residence at Thirsk, on the 22nd ultimo, without giving notice to the police : he is 55 years of age, 5 feet 5f inches high, freckled complexion, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, and bald in front, long face, much pockmarked, ' D.' on left side, ' R.' on right arm, scar on right thumb and third finger and both shins, and left thumb dislocated ; dressed in blue jacket, corduroy trousers, brown leather leggings, and black hard felt hat; he was con- victed at Nether Knutsford Ssssions, on the 21st Feb., 1871, of larceny, after previous convictions, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 7 years police supervision ; he has been working for a highway surveyor, and left on the 22nd instant, and was last seen going in the direction of York, on the 23rd instant; he will probably try to obtain employment amongst farmers or on highways. He was convicted at Kendal sessions, 6th April, 1871, of larceny after previous conviction of felony, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and has been several times convicted previously at Preston. Supposed gone to Manchester, and is likely to seek employment as a rough carpenter. He was convicted at the Herefordshire Sessions, June, 1871, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude for larceny, and liberated from Portland Prison, on 15th Decem- ber last.
