DUBLIN, TUESDAY, JANUASY 2, 1877. ENGLISH POLICE. £ 6 REWARD. FRAUD. / OBTAINED by fraud, vi « ., by means ef a spurious cheque on tho Sheffield Union Banking Company, for £ 67 10*, in the name of Charles Rodgers, at Wigan horse fair, on the 80th October last, dappled- gray mare, nearly half- bred, about J 6 hands 2 inches, rising 6 years old, slight blemish inside coffin joint of near hind leg caused by a cut, hair of rump slightly rubbed off with harness, rather long ta'l, undocked; has a trick of heaving up or drawing the n ar hind leg when standing as if caused by a sprain. It is rumoured that the mare has since been clipped and had her tail docked. It appears from reliable and private information that the offence was committed by John Weston, alias Ringwood, alias Smith, alias Charles Rodgers, Weston being h's correct name, cattle or horse dealer, born at Bath, no fixed residence, age 79, but loo' - ounger, and has tbe appearance of a " dappei gentleman," 6 feet 6 inches in height, freak o ,, lexi « » , gray eyes, gray hair, bald on top yJ- ad, not Hire whether he is wearing either whiskers or moustache, rather stout build, can road and write, large cut across bridle of nose, small 4car back of calf of right leg. When last seen was rested in gray mixture suit, light mackintosh overcoat. Weston is an old offender Has been in custody at Durham, Manchester, Salford, & c. At the time the horse was obtained, he, Weston, was in the company of two much younger men, dressed like grooms or horse dealers, and if they be known and found they will be jointly charged with Weston. One of the two latter may be a person who gave the name of George Allsopp, and was convictod in that name along with Weston in the name pf Smith, in April, 1876, at Durham. The above reward of £ 5 will be paid by the owner of the horse, Mr. Kenwright, upon restoration of the horse in question, as also upon the arrest and conviction of the offender or offenders. Please came special search and inquiry to be made for the missing horse, as also for the man Weston and others, at fairs, auction marts, ho se dealers', veterinary surgeons', livery stables, public and beer- houses, also at gaol, and other places as may he deemed likely, and in the event of either the horse or the man Weston being found, kindly detain and communicate by telegram to George Williams, Chief Constable, Wigan.
