DESCRIPTION of 3 persons, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 80th March, 1876, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Mitchelstown, been two of a party who fired at and wounded Patten Bridge, esq., and Constable Mathew Nugent, and shot John Hyland dead at same time and place:— 1. Unknown— Fair complexion, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 85 years of age, sand/ whiskers nearly meeting under the chin ; wore a cloth frock coat; had his face blackened. 2. DESCRIPTION of Denis Murphy, native of Knockna- boola, district of Killarney, Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 38rd July, 1876, at Kingwilliamstown, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Nohavaldaly, so seriously assaulted Michael Conners that he died on the 25th July, 1876, ( see Hue- and- Cry, lst August, 1876):— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age; is a labourer. B., who stands charged with having, £> n the 33nd March, 1875, in the barony of Coshlea, parish of Kilbeheny, fired at Patten S. Bridge, esq., agent to Nathaniel Buckley, esq., Galtee Castle :— Rather short neck, slightly round shoulders; Brown Donegal. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Daid, native of Derora, who stands charged with having, on the 29th of August, 1876, in the barony ot Kilmacrenan, parish of Conwal, assaulted Jeremiah Kelly so as to endanger his life, and has failed to appear as bailed to stand his trial:— Mark of recent cat on left eyebrow; sulky, down- looking countenance ; brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, broad face, stout make, 6 feet high, about SO years of age, dark brown hair, wears a small tult of hair on chin; is a small farmer. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th November, 1876, in the barony of Lower Ards, parish of Newtownards, stopped a boy named Adam Jordan, and, after demanding money, rifled his pocket of a cotton pocket- handkerchief of red colour, with white spots;— Sandy complexion, coarse face, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 80 or 40 years of age, lon^ sandy beard, moustache, and whisl era, beard falling down over breast, wore an old light- coloured hat slouched down over his face, long dark ciat torn ou both sides of breast and at back, moleskin troweers patched on front of legs with corduroy, dark vest wanting three buttons ( two above and one below). DESCRIPTION of a man, who gave his name as James Hunt, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 80th November, 1876, in the barony of Uppercross, parish of Cruagh, stolen a heifer, the property of James Craven, off his lard at Newtown:— Regular nose, red complexion, fresh face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 80 years of age. fair hair, red whiskers and moustache, shaves his chin; wore a round jerry hat, short pilot coat, patent leather leggings. DESCRIPTION of a man, name supposed to be Ward, native place unknown, who etands charged with having, on the night of 24th November, 1876, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, stolen a mare, the property of Patrick Walsh, of Maherabeg, off his lands in said townland:— Thin nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low soft hat, frock coat, small corded trowsers, dark vest; has the appearance of a horse jobber, and carried an old oil- skin coat. DESCRIPTION of a mare, the property of Patrick Walsh, which was stolen from the Jands of Mahera- bfg, parish of Kilcummin, barony of Moycullen, on the night of the 24th of November, 187 6:— A black mare, 13 hands high, small white spot in centre of forehead, white under off hind fetlock, long tail, supposed to be in foal, 8 years old, ia good condition, and value for £ 25. DESCRIPTION of John Callaghan and James Dowd alas Thomas Sheehan, who stand charged with having, on the 10th September, 1876, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Killarney, made their escape from Killarney Lunatic Asylum:— 1. John Callaghan — Brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, sharp face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 43 years of age, fair hair; wore a frieze cap, frieze jacket, cord trowsers, frieze vest. 2. James Dowd alias Thomas Sheehan— A repre- sentation of the Saviour and 2 other figures tattooed on » ne arm, some similar marks on the other arm ; gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, flat face, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a frieze cap, frieze jacket, cord trowsers, frieze vest. DESCRIPTION of person unknown, who gave the name of Dunne, and stands charged with bavin?, on the 32nd November, 1876, in the barony of North Naas, parish of Naas, stolen 6 bullocks ' recovered \ the property of Mathew Fay, off his land at Osbers- town :— Red under eyes; sandv complexion, thin face, stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a round hat, black coat and overcoat; carried an umbrella Naas, November 36, 1876. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Murphy who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of November, 1876, in the borough of Kilkenny, parish of St. Mary's, unlawfully sold a bullock, the property of his master, James Dowling, of Ballyring, and absconded with the money received for said bullock, and also with a dark frize coat belonging to James Dowling :— Fresh cut mark over left eye, slightly pock- marked ; regular nose, iresh complexion, liesa lace, stout make, ( 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, red whiskers and hair; wore a black frock cost, corduroy trowsers, double- breasted vest, and probably dark frieie great ooat; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 17th instant, at Tullamore, bnrony of Ballycowaa, parish of Kilbride, feloniouslv Fti'ou an ove coat and rug, which he pawned at Tullamoie same evening:— About 4ft years of age, 6 feet 7 inches high, red round full face, rather stout make: wore a long brown coat, cord trowsers, low felt hat, and red woollen muffler. This man travels from fair to fair as a pig jobber or drover, and may now be met with at some of the fairs in Roscommon, Galway, or Wcstmeath. lie is of intemperate habits. Tullamore, Nov. 23, 1876. Louth DESCRIPTION of Mary Conlon, native of Balloran, who stands charged with having, on the 21st November, 1876, in the barony of Louth, parish of Louth, violently assaulted Mary Corchoran, by striking ber with a stone on the back, which has caused her life to be in danger:— Is poclcpitted; small gray eyes, reddish complexion, full round f- ice, very stout make, & feet high, 86 years of age, reddish hair; wore a bonnet, yellow and black Paisley shawl, yellow dress with a deep flounce, boots either laced or elastic sides. DESCRIPTION of John M'Coy, who states he is a native of 4, John- street, Belfast, and stands charged with having, on the 25th September, 1876, in the barony of Kilmaine, parish of Ballinrobe, failed to appear at the Quarter Sessions of Ballinrobe, having been bailed to appear thereat to take his trial on a charge of picking the pocket of Denis Kelly at the fair of Balla on the 25th September, 1876: Slightly pockpitted, scum on left eye; intelligent respectable appearance; round shoulders, very high forehead, blue eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, regular face, stout make, 5. feet 8 inches high, about 37 or 40 years of age, light brown hair; wore a brown top coat, cross- bar tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest. Claremorris, Oct 13,1876. ( 10848 c.— 19428.) DESCRIPTION of a man, name unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 11th of August, 1876, at about half- past 11 o'clock, A. M., in the barony of Carra, parish of Dram, at Loonamore, discharged three shots from a revolver from behind a rick of turf at George B. Acton, esq., Bridgemount, as he drove by, returning from the fair of Balla:— Face not muscular, about 18 stone weight, seemingly a man not accustomed to hard labour, swarthy or much sun- burnt complexion, round face, very full make 6 feet 8 inches high, 40 years of age, dark sandy hair, beard and moustache; brown frieze sack coat, dark tweed vest, whitish trowsers, and a soft hat, with high crown. K DESCRIPTION of John Ryan, native of garryduff, who stands charged with having, on J he 8Ur, October, 1676, in the barony of Clandonagh, parish of Rathdowney, seriously assaulted William Guilfoyle, thereby causing his death on 3nd November, 1876, ( see Hue- and- cry, 3rd November, 1876V.— Large boil on back of neck ; slight impediment in his speech ; gray eyes, fair complexion, fresh freckled face, medium make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about iiO years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest. DESCRIPTION of Thomas Hunt ( mother's surname Quigley , native of Knockgranagh, who stands chargcd with having, on the night of the 39th ult., in the barony of Leyny, parish of Achonry, murdered John M'Gloin, by fracturing his skull with a large stone:— Down- looking appearance, large front teeth, high cheek bones, glaring black eyes; cocked nose, sallow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches j high, about 37 or 28 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache, no beard or whiskers t woro a cap with flaps, dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; lately le'urced from America ; is a labourer. DESCRIPTION of John Stafford alias Stephens, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 31st November, 1876, in the barony of IfJa and Offa East, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a dark pilot fiock coat, tho property of John Roche, of Clonmel, which coat has since been recovered:— Sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age. dark hair, dark moustache and whiskers; wore a faded blue frock coat, dark trowsers an') vest, a hsrd jerry hat, with suial leaf, aitd a shepherd's plaid shirt; is a tailor. DESCRIPTION of Patrick M'Grath, native of Cool- namonia, who stands charged on suspicion with having, on the 6th of November, 1876, in the barony^, of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Moyaliff, seriously assaulted Jeremiah Lowery, thereby causing his death cn 26th or November, 1876 :— Slightly in* kneed ; shaves all his face ; brown eyes, regular nose, dark: fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; wore a jerry hat, brown cloth coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. DESCRIPTION of George Allis, native of Lackana- creena, county Tipperery, who stands charged with having, on the 6th September, 1876, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Lower, parish of Donohill, seriously assaulted William Laughman, from the effects of which his life is in danger :— Old cut- mark on right side oj neck, also on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, tbin face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 34 years of age, dark hair. DESCRIPTION of Mary Jane M'Cullagh, native of Cross, Ballinascreen, who stands charged with having, on the 18th October, 1870, at Feegarroo, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Derryloran, deserted her illegitimate female child, nearly 3 months old:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, stoat make, 4 feet 10 or 11 inchcs high, about 36 or 26 years of age, light brown hair; wore a bro^ n dress with dark flounces, gray shawl which she wore over her head. This woman gave birth to a child in the house ot Sarah A. Hagan, Killycolps, on the 31st July, when she stated her name, & c., was as above given. A Warrant for her arrest has bee a issued. DESCRIPTION of Maria Kirwin, having no fixed residei. ee, who stands charged with haviog, on the night of 20th November, 1876, in the barony cf Forth, parish of Kilbride Glunn, leloniously broken into, or out of. ihe public house of Mrs. Johanna Larkin, and taken?? thereirom a blue serge dress, a brown cloth jacket trimmed with quiltal silk, a black quilted satinelte petticoat, and a bottle of brandy:— Blue eyes, ordinary nose, sallow complex- ion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair; wore a green linsey dress, a J? lack and white stmw hat, old black and white snawl.
